4.75⭐️ Finally…..oh finally a good hockey romance! It’s been so long since I enjoyed one of these! 🤭😍
The way all these characters were portrayed was believable, they were down to earth and it wasn’t hard to imagine these people in real life, with all their flaws and struggles.
Now let’s talk about Connor and Harlow! I absolutely adored these two. It’s been a really long time since I’ve been this invested in a couple. Even when they were ignoring each other, there was this palpable tension between them, like they were deeply attracted to each other, you the reader could actually feel their intense chemistry, but they were both too stubborn to make the first move. They started out as “enemies”, which slowly progressed into friends with benefits, spending more and more time together, both too afraid to confess their deep feelings for each other….and all that turned into a charming love story!
What I loved most about this book is that even though it wasn’t a very long book where the author has the necessary “time” to develop a decent plot or a believable connection between the main characters, Connor & Harlow’s story didn’t feel rushed at all! This is usually what annoys me in other books, when their romantic connection isn’t believable because they fall in love after 2 or 3 encounters! 😒
It wasn’t the case here, W. Farnsworth has a way of compressing big chunks of plot into a short, detailed summary without it feeling rushed. She isn’t skimming over important details like other authors do, she shows you everything that goes on in their day to day lives without you getting bored or feeling the need to skip chapters in order to get to the good stuff.
Also, their short separation towards the end of the book was so angsty.😏🙌🏻🫣
I felt like I had a fist squeezing my heart! It almost physically pained me to read how much they were missing each other!
The only thing that bothered me a bit and the reason why it’s not a perfect 5 star read, was because Connor didn’t grovel enough. Like we, the readers, knew how much he actually missed her, he was a mess after their break up, but she didn’t know that…for all she knew…he could have been with 20 other girls during that period..and the first time she saw him and heard him confessing his feelings, she was like, well oki doki, I love you too!🤷🏻♀️😂 Nooo….that wouldn’t fly with me, no sir!☝🏻🙂↔️😂
Still, a very enjoyable read! I will start the second book in the series next!😂
Ps: English is not my first language, so I apologize for any grammatical errors ✌🏻
