Rose Mary Boehm is a German-born British national living and writing in Lima, Peru, and author of two novels as well as eight poetry collections. Her poetry has been published widely in mostly US poetry reviews (online and print). She was three times nominated for a ‘Pushcart’ and once for ‘Best of Net’. DO OCEANS HAVE UNDERWATER BORDERS? (Kelsay Books July 2022), WHISTLING IN THE DARK (Cyberwit July 2022), and SAUDADE (December 2022) are available on Amazon. Also available on Amazon is a new collection, LIFE STUFF, published by Kelsay Books November 2023.
Boehm's newest collection is about, well, life stuff. And what a life she has lived. These are poems to read and savor, like life. Boehm shares her life stuff in a way that enlightens and resonates, from her early childhood in Nazi Germany to marriage, children, London, Spain and ultimately Peru. We traipse across Europe with her, where she is "breathing the same air/ give or take a few car exhausts-/ as Talleyrand, Cardinal Richelieu-" {Letters From Paris, 1958)
Boehm's narrative poetry shares the exuberance of youthful love and the comfort of senior love, joy and loss along the way, and contemplative thoughts as the poet navigates "the last installment" of her life.
"Recipe for Wellness" gives excellent advice on how to live. Take "a pinch of self-mockery" among other things, "wrap it all/ in unconditional love." Finally, "lie back/relax, and have a glass of Champagne." And read these poems!
