Robert Thier

Robert Thier is a German historian, lover of old books and award-winning writer, whose novels and stories encompass the historical, satirical, and fantastical. For the way he manages to make the past come alive, as if he himself lived as a medieval knight, his inventive fans have given him the nickname “Sir Rob.” All of his stories are characterized by his very own brand of humor that has gained him a diverse readership ranging from teenagers to retired grandmothers.

For Robert, becoming a writer followed naturally from his interest in history. “In Germany,” he says, “we use the same word for story and history. And I've always loved the one as much as the other. Becoming a storyteller, a writer, is what I've always wanted.”

Besides writing and researching in dusty old archives, on the lookout for a mystery to put into his next story, Robert enjoys classical music and long walks in the country. The helmet you see in the picture he does not wear because he is a cycling enthusiast, but to protect his literary skull in which a bone has been missing from birth. Robert lives in the south of Germany in a small village between the three Emperor Mountains.

Disappointed. Lilly and Ambrose didn’t feel the same as they used to. The series is definitely getting milked now. And Lilly didn’t ever question her period stopping???? The storyline bored me to tears. Nothing EVER goes wrong for Ambrose, that gets boring I’m sorry. Like perfection is boring. Can there be a plot twist, can him and Lilly have a real argument, can something actually HAPPEN? I love the series but it should’ve stopped after the wedding. MAYBE a mini book for the epilogue but that’s it.

Honestly, this one feels like a fanfiction written by someone else, and not the author.

If I could give this book a zero I'd give it, hell I'd even give this book a negative rating if possible. This book seemed like something a person with no actual writing skills would write. It seemed like a fanfic that I would find on Wattpad written by a 13-year-old who has zero understanding of what it takes to handle marriage, this book wasn't necessary at all. Seeing how far they've come together you'd think they'd establish communication skills, but no Ambrose is aware of Lilly's pregnancy but does not bother to tell her. I absolutely fail to understand why he'd keep such information away from her. She is the one carrying that damn child, she has every right in the world to know of this, and why the bloody hell hasn't she visited a medical professional? She has noticed the change in her health, but did not bother to see a doctor? She kept giving bullshit titles to her 'sickness' instead of trying to get better. Why hadn't she questioned her 'sea-sickness' when she travel on a boat several times but did not experience something of this sort before. She travelled on land, and never felt ill before, but she called it land-sickness, like girl, what the hell is wrong with you? After reading this book, I was left feeling as if the author didn't write this book because he wanted his readers to enjoy it but because he wanted to make money off of it as he did with his previous works.

Dammit! If he’s being an arse, why does he have to be a bloody romantic arse?

Rating - 4.25/5

Rikkard Ambrose + Lillian Ambrose

The newly married couple, Rick and Lilly were in their honeymoon. Or should I say honeymoon in Ambrosian style which mean dangerous gunfight, enemies, lots of romance and silence. This time it was against the Spanish.

⚠️There's gonna be spoiler for sure. Don't blame me and say I didn't warn you beforehand!⚠️

I actually understand why Lilly was clueless about 'the thing'. Because let's face it, she didn't have a mother to teach all those stuff and her aunt wasn't exactly a person who would take her time to do it either. Besides she was in denial as she was scared I think. It was understandable as well. I mean her whole life was gonna change. But I'm rooting for my favorite couple. I know they'll overcome every obstacle that will be thrown in their way. Together. You gotta admit, it was funny the way Karim and Rick constantly trying to avoid her questions. Rikkard Ambrose was something else in this particular book. He was more devious and so bloody romantic and hot. Swoon! And Lilly actually made him use his money. Respect woman! For some reason, I liked Wolf and his sarcastic remarks from the moment he was introduced. And that Ambrose Junior camel. Hilarious! Not to mention the US Marshal and prostitutes. Lmfao! Although this book was different than the others. I really wish the chemistry was same and also the writing style. But it wasn't. Don't get me wrong. I still enjoyed this book. It's just wasn't same as before. Something was missing.

Can't wait to read the next one. But I'm guessing I'm gonna be waiting for a while now which is pretty devastating. Ugh!

Lilly and Amby didn't feel the same as they used to be😔. I did like all the stuffs that was happening outside their relationship. There was too many s*x scenes for my liking (I never thought I would say something like this💀) to the point where it felt like the author just wanted to fill the space to make this book long because there wasn't much to write about the main plot. Lilly not knowing anything about the pregnancy stuff and all and hence not doubting that she pregnant was acceptable to some extent but it became quite unrealistic after some time because of the fact that why she didn't have any doubt about why she hadn't got her period for so long. I still read the whole book for Lilly and Amby. The last three chapters were my favorite💖✨. Sir Rob, you are still my fav author. I heard there will be a 8th book. Looking forward to read it.❤

Just read this book and even though I enjoyed it, it was the weakest one in the whole series. The plot with spaniards was boring and highly confusing, at one point i even stopped caring about what was happening with them because lilly’s pregnancy became the main focus for me. The pregnancy drama was dragged and the reveal should’ve happened halfway through at ch 20 instead of ch 40. It’s understandable that Lilly doesn’t know the symptoms of pregnancy since amy only told her about sex and how babies are made, plus she didn’t have an elderly female figure in her life. BUT, she knows that having sex without ‘gloves’ can make her pregnant, in book 3 when she came close to having sex, lilly always got worried about accidentally getting pregnant but now when she’s having a lot of sex without any sought of protection, she thinks about everything but getting pregnant? HOW??!!

Criticisms aside, lambrose was the saving grace of this book, their cute moments made it worth for me especially because of Lilly’s pregnancy and to see ambrose being extra caring towards her. Thier upped the spice in this book and let’s just say it was interesting to read🔥 Lilly and Ambrose’s relationship and Ambrose’s character development was the best in this book along with HFS, imho, Rikkard’s development shone through in this book and it was good to see him cracking jokes and being more affectionate, marriage certainly changed him a lot for the better and its good see his soft side, especially after everything he’s been through(ch 41 tho🤌 simply the best one). Enjoyed the humour and banter in this one as well.

Things I want the author to work on:-
The plot: It needs to be more interesting and sometimes i felt like the action and suspense was missing. In the beginning it felt like the story wasn’t moving forward at all, I had to force myself to read these parts. I want dalgliesh back especially because he’s still alive and needs to be killed off plus the plot was more engaging with him as the villain. Something needs to happen, someone needs to die (NOT lilly or amby) or get injured because I need some DRAMA! I need some conflicts other than the usual relationship drama. Book 1 for ex had a really captivating and thrilling plot, i want that back!

Under-utilised characters that are lacking in depth: I need an update on the old characters like adaira, rikkard’s parents, Lilly’s sisters, dalgliesh etc. A plethora of storylines can be created using these characters. Karim is a great supporting character and his character needs more depth, i want to see some deep convos between him and lilly about his past, rikkard’s past and how Rikkard has changed after meeting her. I want to learn more about rikkard’s past, how did he built this huge empire? Who all were his companions other than karim? What did he go through in the colonies? How does he really feel about becoming a dad? I would love to know more about Lilly’s parents. Also, stinginess isn’t a personality trait, Sir Rob. Lilly and Rikkard are much more than comedic relief characters.

Do I want this series to end? Even though the series has gone downhill, it would be a lie to say that I want it to end, because frankly I don’t, not without seeing Lilly and Rikkard as parents. Hope the author takes the readers feedback into consideration and brings the old charm of book 1 back! I have read a few chapters of book 8 on radish and it seems more promising than this one, it was good to see them back in London.

Was this book necessary? No
Was Lilly super annoying and naive? Yes
Should the book series have ended a few volumes ago? Yes
Has the series just dragged on since then? Yes
Will I continue reading the series? Yes

What annoyed me the most, like some other readers, was Lilly's ignorance of her physical symptoms (since it's on the blurb I don't think it's a spoiler). I've now spent a few hours (😌) researching on the internet and found different statements on the subject of sex education in this time period. So i guess its okay like that.

horrible and terrible , i started this in summer last year and i finished it like a week ago or something.

My standards and expectations were so high for this book , because i alredy loved lily and rickard so much , and i have read every single book in the series before this one , but when i got to it , i just couldnt understand the plot fault to how confusing and non constructed it was . Also, i hate to say it but it also seemed a little too easy and idiotic and the plot twist at the end didnt phase me because i did not care .. at all .

Lily kept acting like this stupid damsel in distress that somehow couldn't figure out that she was pregnant even after weeks of vomiting and cravings . You're telling me she knew about toys but somehow she magically didnt know where babies came from . I even vividly remember her talking about pregnancy and baloons in the first book . like bffr . how is that possible.
She wasn't even funny anymore , she just seemed like a mad woman craving blood and murder and ngl that was weird and it didnt hit , i absolutley hated it . Where did feminist sweet funny lily go .
It also seemed to me like she was supposed to 'outgrow' her feminist phase or something because she was pregnant like - what does that have to do with anything . yeah no. nope no nope .

And then there's our dear little ricky right , the perfect man that did not want to tell his wife that she was pregnant even tho he was perfectly aware that she had no idea that she was currently ahold of a child [his child ] . Isn't that so romantic and sweet of him , to just ignore that and not only have a shitty honeymoon but also one where she and the kid were in perfect danger of death . or malformation because of how many dynamites they had fun with [ and ig they didnt know because they were in the 19th century i believe, BUT YOU KNEW ROBERT ] .
And then at the end of the book ig he made up for it and said that he wanted her to find out by herself but that is insanely stupid and inconsiderate of him . she would've had no idea [ when we take it from the author's prespective saying that most women weren't educated about it and were oblivious , but then again lily WAS educated , she read thousand of books and was even friends with amy ' how wouldnt she knw] .But yeah when we take it from the author's prespective idk how he wanted her to find out , prehaps when it was too late to emotionally prepare herself, and they were already back in london . so wtv . RICKY i hate you .

And what also bugged me was how easily she forgave him for it , like kisses and physical intimacy dont solve everything . he would just stare in her eyes and groan and say she makes him crazy or wtv and boom we forgive and forget .That's not how it works espacially in this case . They ARE a married mature couple afterall and he could've just told her , they could've had a real honest conversation , and solve this matter . but they did not . and that's what makes the whole romance plot in the book awful and definetly not the best example for relationships in real life .

but yeah thats it. i hope Robert doesn't hate me now because i really loved every single book before this one , i just think he couldn't handle the pregnancy trope well and it felt a little rushed .
I don't know if i will be reading the next book in the series , i strongly think i wont and ig i'll have to give them my own end .
lily and rickard return to england , rickard with pockets full of money and lily with a woomb full with life and hope , Patsy will harass lily for giving her feminist soul up but will eventually end up secretly being excited for it . her sister and flora will be over the moon , and her aunt with her evil sisters will be green of jealousy . they'll go back to their home in the moors and BE A CUTE LITTLE FAMILY , IT'LL BA A BEAUTIFUL GIRL WITH BLUE EYES AND WARM CHOCOLATE HAIR AND WILL HATE CHAUVINISTICS AS MUCH AS HER MOTHER DOES .
voila , the end . im sorry this is too long and probably full of mistakes .

I really want to give it 4 star but it pained me because it doesn't deserve a 4 star rating so, I rate it 5 star since I've been following this book ever since and I just love it. I can't help myself but smile every chapter. And I was literally awed of some small bombs you threw at us. Maybe next time, I'll read the before the storm and continue to the Volume 8 once it's done and completed. Thanks, Sir Rob, for always completing my day. You're the best writer, and your books has always a space in my heart, and this book is a good recommendation if someone might ask me what books they want to read. This is one of the books I'll certainly recommend. Why not? They will absolutely going to like it. Not adequately. Indeed? Indeed! 😁😁

Edit: Done reading the Special Chapters 😁😁

I don't think a lot of authors can claim to make vomiting funny and turning it into a full-blown comic scene. But Rob Thier does it, and does so with such a flair, that I could actually not stop laughing. If he could write scripts for comedy movies, he would be a huge hit! It is after ages that I read something so engaging and utterly captivating.

The storyline is spiffing awesome, as are all his works. Not one drab moment. It actually carries you on a journey through the Wild west, recreating the imagery with such precision, spunk, and perfection, it keeps you turning the pages till you are well and properly hooked. On the one hand, it is erotic, but it is also appropriate for young adults, because the words are spun in such a way that they convey the scene without even writing about it. The interaction between Rikkard and Lillian is sweet and romantic, while that between Mr. Ambrose and Mr. Linton is fun and entertaining, charged with meaning, adoration, and mutual respect. Each and every emotion is captured marvelously throughout the book.

Mr. Ambrose dragging Mr. Linton to the Sheriff's office while asking her (him) to stay "in character" is hilarious. Another interesting fact to note is, Mr. Ambrose is portrayed to be worse than the devil. His workers would literally die of working for him, his very name instills a crazy, frenzied fear in the hearts of those around him and those who work for him. Yet they continue to work for him, with utmost loyalty, going so far as to offer their lives if it meant protecting him, and even his business. That speaks volumes about the man!

Then in comes Karim, another loyal follower/servant/bodyguard/helper. His interactions with Lillian and Rikkard are so full of love wrapped in barbs and jabs of spoken words.
As compared to the previous novels in the series, the love-making scenes were steamier and yet softer. The eroticism was enticing. Their possessive instincts around each other was so fresh and cute. Does that exist in today's world!? Maybe, it's time to travel back in to the 18th century 😉..

Mr. Ambrose is an OCD driven master plan who takes care, down to the last detail, while planning. That is evident in the first half of the novel. Even when things look awry for the duo, it all his masterplan playing out. Mr. Angus Angleton was a fantastic character, that the author developed and revealed bit by bit through the novel. The plot reminded me of El Professor from Money Heist and Kaz Brekker from Storm of crows (the best piece of literature, there is).
Yet, when the Spaniards request reinforcements, Mr. Ambrose is thrown off his game for once, before he bounces back, of course. But this second part kept things real. It showed the thinking wheels turning inside his head, when there was no "prior planning." And that was thrilling. In the first half, due to his assurances, we knew that they were safe. In the second half, not so much. That's when it picked up, and became all the more interesting!!

Then their dynamite runs out. It's real-er than movies too, where the explosive and ammunition supply in unending and waiting to be acquired just around the corner. The element of reality is worth going through each word with enthusiasm. When the gangsters marched into the city of NY for a few measly bucks, I was dubious. But apparently, they were "prepared", at least it wasn't a leaking plot hole.

I hate not finishing what I started but reading this was honestly painful on a physical level and no I’m not exaggerating. The series went downhill from book 5 but this one was just downright terrible. It was painfully slow paced, basically NOTHING happened for the first 30% of the book and it just seemed very repetitive. It felt as if the author ran out of things to write about.

It’s such a shame because the first four books were so amazing and this series had so much potential but unfortunately this book really ruined it for me.

Book #7 of 7

🆗 19th-century Wild West/Western (America): saloons, guns, prisons, gold mines,...
🆗 FMC: funny, head strong, can do attitude, dances to her own beat, adorably crazy, somewhat deluded, juvenile, a bit too teenager and naive at times, good ideals but sometimes too dramatic;
☑️ MMC: Rich, grumpy, stingy, powerful, bossy alpha male (and boss)
☑️🆗 Secret pregnancy (for FMC, so funny, even if a bit over the top)
☑️🆗 Banter: quite funny
⬇️ But unrealistic reactions at times
⬇️ Everything is a mess but that ends up as being the plan all along and ending miraculously well
🆗 Power plays

What more can a girl want that a honeymoon in the Wild West?

If only she could stop vomiting and being nauseous on the stupid ship.

And during the carriage ride.

And on land.

It ruins the whole dangerous vibe she has going on.

After all, she is supposed to be helping her husband protect his oh so precious investments, his money.

But even he is not completely himself.

It must be the air.

This non-city air is bad for their health, obviously.

She cannot keep anything down and her husband has become an overprotective bastard that orders her not to work?!

But when faced with a corrupt mayor and powerful foreign narcissists intend on robbing her husband off of his property, she knows her stingy love will not rest until his wrath ruins those who dared to cross him.

And she and her trusted revolver and hundreds of bullets will be right next to him.

In saloons.
In staged pandemonium.
In mines.
In gun fights.
In brothels.
In the desert.

Fighting bandits, desperados and corrupt systems.

After all, her husband is nothing if not a generous, concerned, law-abiding man.

(Don't laugh, Lilly!)

***

Notes:

🔸 Pregnancy

- it is quite funny how much the FMC is in denial regarding the pregnancy, it doesn't even cross her mind.

- But...This bothers me a bit so here it goes: the symptoms she displays are not something automatic. She does not have pregnancy symptoms i.e. nausea, etc, the very next day after having unprotected sex. It is not instantaneous. (Actually, some women don't even have very intense symptoms at all so they don't even realise they are pregnant until much later.) And if she did constantly vomit as it is claimed, she would need to keep hydrated and fed so she would not become too weak. And the cravings... A bit too dramatic.

***

As always my complete respect for the author and their work.
No hate nor hurt intended with this review.

Hmmmm gmn yak.

trs ntah knp ini bukunya kyk 2 pov gt, satu pov lilly, satu pov orang ketiga tpi ttg org lain gt. jujur gue gak mau tau ttg org lain itu anjrit, gue cuma pengen melihat isi otak lilly aja, knp lu hrs mskkin pov org lain yg gjls mereka siapa ahhhh

As much as I love these characters, I trully thing the last boo was the proper ending. It tied everything together while giving a satisfying promise that they would always be chasing another adventure, now as a married couple.

I felt like there wasn't much plot in this book. yeah, they went on an adventure but they didn't really grow as characters, it actually felt lie they were charicatures of the characters, boiled down to their most memorable quirks. I had hoped that being in america would open a gateway into learning more about Ambrose's time there when he was young but no it was just random Lilly shenanegans over and over for 400+ pages.

At this point I fell like I'll just skip over to Adria's story in book 10 over on wattpad.

There was no need for this one, I personally feel like. The story should have ended in the last book. And in a way it did, cause the writing felt off, the previous books all have been in Lilly's POV with surprise chapters in the end just to give us Mr. Ambrose's POV. That was changed here with the story being told from someone else's POV in random chapters in the middle.
Plus, what annoyed me was how Lilly was portrayed. She has always been badass and, most importantly, smart. That is how she was able to even keep her job with Mr.Ambrose in the first place, but the way she was written (at least in the first few chapters, don't know if it got better) annoyed me and was the last straw that made me drop the book.

Loved Lilly's thoughts and dialog as usual. She's the best, even tho it took her a while to figure out she's pregnant. What bothered me a little was how much Mr. Ambrose has changed. Now he's smiling and taking and not his usual ice block self. But I love how protective of his wife he's gotten. It's adorable 🥰 The couple is not what they used to be, but I look forward to seeing how they'll tackle the pregnancy with the assistant job. And... Another thing! Karim and Lilly seemed to have made progress in their relationship during the last book, but all of it vanished as if it never happened in this book. That was a bit disappointing.

The first 4 books were AMAZING (the first 3 were the BEST in my opinion) then it started to get a tiny bit boring, sometimes problematic, or infuriating...but still entertaining enaugh to make me wanna know what happens next.

I tend not to read much when i have piles of uni projects to do and it makes me miserable on the inside; because i mostly read as an escapism. And this series just offers me the right amount of brain numbing magic to go through the day.

If i ever decide to re-re-read this again, I might stop at the first 4 books, skip the 5 like the plague, then finish it off with the 6.

Another amazing read from this series! A wild west adventure for a honeymoon is always enchanting. I enjoyed this one very much but I won't go and call it a favorite. The couple are married now and like many other people, I have a harder time reading about an already developed romance then I do the start of one. And even though I adore these wickedly charming characters I still felt like it was a "softer" read then the previous books in the series. However I still look forward to reading the next installment of this series! So don't think we are stopping here when it comes to Thier.
