Y'all I am dying over them! These two have the healthiest, hottest relationship out of any Ana Huang book. Ana really said, whether morally gray is your favorite OR NOT (shoutout to Twisted Lies' iconic dedication), let me give you someone you can publicly swoon over without shame because Kai mf Young is everything.

He's an intellectual but also so witty. An uptight billionaire but can bring miss Isabella Valencia to her knees (yes, you know what I mean). He's supportive but possessive. The best of both worlds and don't even get me started on Isa. One moment I'm like the "mouth on this girl" and then I flip the page and I'm thinking "the mouth on this FINE gentlemen (who's not so gentlemanly when he wants to be)." You really don't understand how beautifully supportive they are of each other despite all the tension they have from being total opposites (also no miscommunication for all my fellow readers who hate petty conflicts)! But also, yes, this is forbidden romance at its peak- the feathers, the piano, I gotta stop now before I spoil too much.

But this is really so different from any other Ana Huang character or dynamic and yet it's still on-brand and has everything you love about her worlds and writing! And if anything, come for the cameos and the crumbs of who's next because my greedy hands are already clamoring for what's coming in King of Greed (of which my pre-review may have a lil hint). Y'all are not ready but you need to get ready for April 27th because Kai and Isabella are about to fill your hearts with so much PRIDEEE!

Pre-release Anticipation: You felt their tension in KOW, too right?! The constant eye contact and that damn British accent! I'm sensing forbidden romance with a genius billionaire hero: April 27th cannot get here fast enough!

3.5⭐️ I loveeeeeee me a hot nerd…. Kai Young was absolutely scrumptious! I had so much fun reading this even though it fell flat in like the last 30% I got really bored. Definitely not my favorite but I read it in a day so….

Also the library scene will live in my head rent free for the foreseeable future. This man was so hot FOR WHAT??? Kai is the definition of it’s always the quiet ones.

it’s always the quiet introverted ones innit?

king kai is so husband coded. something about his ego had me in heat. they way he so effortlessly supports isabella…the way he threw off his glasses and took her against a PIANO!! let’s unpack that my gawwwd. how do i get a man that decides to take us on a weekend trip to turks and caicos all to get my creative juices flowing??! me internally screaming: “kiss me! oh wait don’t kiss me. do whatever you want to me every page 🤩

isabella is fr me coded. the way she humbles kai and has him acting like a dog. their dynamic was everything!! reading her character growth felt so personal. she is a woman that can get everything she’s looking for and that she does. it’s funny to me because the way isabella would basically tell herself “lol i’m no waitress but i need his tip” like same girl 🫣

love how this book was also family centered. from defying expectations to fighting for true love. ugh so heart achingly beautiful 🥹

"Just knowing you existed somewhere in this world was enough."

Ana has once again proven herself to be an exceptional writer. I enjoyed reading this book and found myself eagerly turning each page to see what would happen next. I'll be honest, a lil bit because of dom & alessandra. I absolutely loved the tropes used in this book, and it was refreshing to see how different it was from other books written by her. 😗

KAI YOUNG: ⋆·˚ ༘ *
I absolutely adored Kai's character in the story! He was the perfect partner in every way - caring, gentle, and always there for Isabella. Ana was right when she said that he was different from all the other men written by her. What stood out to me the most was how much he believed in Isabella and her abilities. He never once doubted her, and instead encouraged her to pursue her dreams. Not only that, but he was good at everything he did.
He translated Classics into Latin because he found that relaxing! ✋🏻

ISABELLA VALENCIA: ੈ✩‧₊˚
Isabella was a truly unique character with a personality that was equal parts sassy, charming, and witty. I loved her sassiness and her willingness to speak her mind, even if it meant ruffling a few feathers. However, despite her confident exterior, she had her insecurities, which often affected her deeply. Overall, Isabella was a complex character that I loved for her flaws and all, and her sassy, charming, and witty personality always kept me engaged and entertained. 💜

I wasn't the only one who felt the electric link between.
They both seemed to be attracted to each other from the start and the slow burn was delicious! 🥵 I loved how there was no unnecessary drama and they just acted on their attraction. 🤭😗

You should've never let me take you, Isabella. Because now that I have, I won't be able to let you go.
OMG, that scene was so hot! JEALOUS KAI >>>>> I loved seeing that side of him. Whenever Isabella talked to any other guy, he was feeling all kinds of jealousy. Heck, at one point, he even thought he was jealous of nature. And the best part was that Isabella didn't even seem to mind. I don't blame her though, I mean who wouldn't want a guy who was so crazy about them? 🤧

THE FEATHER SCENE WAS THE HOTTEST IN THIS WHOLE BOOK! 😩😭 The professor x dirty student. 🥵

He was successful and driven; I was flaky and unreliable.
Isabella was struggling with her own insecurities, and unfortunately, that led to the end of their relationship. I felt so bad for both of them. I was so sad about how she kept on underestimating herself again and again. 😔

I wish you could see yourself the way I see you. Smart. Strong. Beautiful.

He would always reassure her and made her feel better. They both were each other’s biggest supporters. He encouraged her a lot and believed in her.

Final thoughts:

I liked this book and loved both Kai & Isa as characters but I was more interested in the side characters. I enjoyed the book but half of the time I was wondering about the others. Maybe I’ll give it a 5-star rating someday. I still think I got a lil bit generous 😭 I liked King Of Wrath more than this book because it had some angst and groveling in it. I live for this shit. But the relationship was healthy & ✨Perfect✨, hence no groveling hehe.
Also about the man ban of Isabella, I THINK HER EX'S STORY HELD NO IMPORTANCE! It felt unnecessary because Isa didn't hesitate to jump into bed with Kai at all! one conflict thought maybe? and she literally just told him in passing and he hugged her BLAH BLAH DONE? 🤣
The forbidden thingy between them was kinda extra? I mean I get it that there was a no-fraternization rule but SHE JUST GOT FIRED EASILY. One moment they were having fun without caring about others and the next moment she got kicked out of Valhalla?
I won't call it insta-love because the story was set after 1 year BUT I NEEDED IT FROM THE TIME SHE GOT THE JOB. Because the small tidbits in KOW made me wonder why they were staring at each other or Isa was arching her brows at him! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ava and Alex's cameo was cute lmao! Christian is the star in both books.
Also, the reason for my 3-star rating is because I liked Isa & Kai as individual characters. The story and all was meh- okay.

Theories about other books:
I had guessed all the couples after reading KOW but Ana introduced us to so many new characters. 🫣 ALSO I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE 7 BOOKS IN THIS SERIES! HAJABSKKAKAA 💃✨✨

This book was something different from what Ana usually writes, and I loved it. Ana is famous for her steamy billionaire romance stories and swoon-worthy, morally grey characters. But I loved how she stepped outside her usual style and gave us this opposites-attract, steamy romance with utterly charming characters. It was addicting from the very start because of how opposite Isa and Kai were. They weren’t supposed to fall for each other due to the forbidden nature of their relationship.

“Still, there was something about her that drew me in like a siren calling to a sailor. Destructive, certainly, but so beautiful it would almost be worth it.”

I loved how sweet and beautiful this story was, with its perfectly portrayed characters. The romance was refreshing—healthy, alluring, and without lies or betrayals. One thing I love about Ana’s books is how she writes her Asian characters the way they should be written—flawed yet perfect in their own way. She perfectly captured Asian culture and families in this book. Both MCs are Asian, and I loved how similar their cultures and family dynamics were, yet so different at the same time.

Isabella Valencia is bold, impulsive, and sassy. She’s the complete opposite of Kai, with her flamboyant and vibrant personality. But she’s also kind and thoughtful, and she believes she doesn’t deserve happiness because of what happened in her past with her ex. She struggles with writer’s block in this book, and Kai is always there to help her through it. I’m so glad she found both love and her dream in the end.

Kai Young is the epitome of aristocratic sophistication. And the fact that he’s an Asian Brit who wears glasses, loves books, translates them into Latin for relaxation, and turns into a territorial caveman when he’s jealous? He’s just so hot, charming, and perfect. But beyond that, he’s thoughtful and caring, with a soft spot for only Isa. He’s very different from other MMCs in Ana’s books—he’s not morally grey and would rather handle things in a civilised way… though not so civil when it comes to the bedroom. His British accent and the way he calls Isa love and my love are the only things keeping me sane in this life.

“I’d never fallen in love before her. Once I did, I did it the way I did everything else. Completely. Totally. Irrevocably.”


I love how Isa and Kai are so different from each other yet never try to change one another. They are both unapologetically themselves. Isa is a social butterfly with purple-streaked hair, while Kai is confident and reserved in every way. But they found love amidst the secret libraries of Valhalla Club, their sparkling chemistry, and their undeniable tension. I adore their banter—especially how Isa had an apparent fetish for discussing sex in public just to fluster Kai, and how he never made her feel ashamed about it.

“You should’ve never let me take you, Isabella. Because now that I have, I won’t be able to let you go.”

They helped each other grow and pushed one another outside their comfort zones. I loved how they always communicated their feelings, never letting doubts creep in to destroy what they were building. They both had walls around them, yet they found a space between those walls and loved each other fiercely—flaws and all. It was beautiful how they fell in love despite everything and everyone against them. I love them so much!

“We’ve been through some dark times, but you were always the brightest part of my life. Even when we broke up. Even when I walked out. Just knowing you existed somewhere in this world was enough.”

There’s a completely useless third-act breakup, and I hated how Isabella broke Kai’s heart. That man didn’t deserve that! But the ending was perfect, and I’m so glad their families accepted them. I’m beyond happy that Kai and Isa found each other, worked through their differences, and fell deeply in love.

It’s always enticing and thrilling to dive into a book or story written in not "the traditional" author’s style. A.H. Tiptoed out of her confort zone and painted a surprising and somehow refreshing healthy relationship lacking her usual penchant for lies, trahisons and people being killed left and right.

"We were opposites in almost every way, from our habits and hobbies to our temperaments and taste in books."

The story followed Isabella a bartender at the Valhalla —"an exclusive members-only society for the world’s rich and powerful,"—and accessory an aspiring thriller author. And Kai Young who was concurring for the C.E.O post at his family’s company. The two of them couldn’t be more polar opposites from each other. One was a purplehead with an outgoing personality and a too high to be elegant laugh and the other was a well tailored business man with glasses and a sophisticated British accent. So how and why the two of them ended together?

"He looked aristocratic, like a prince among commoners."

Kai Young is officially a new standard for paper boyfriends. His character was THE invigorating aspect of the storyline. He wasn’t a compulsive man with sociopath tenderizes, he was a charming and cultured man with such a kind and soft spot for Isabella. Everything he did, said was a perfection in their relationship. No wrong move from Kai Young! HE CARRIED THE BOOK!!

Isabella’s frivolous character and vivid personality were enjoyable for most of the storyline. The way her personage kept adding some surprising and little plot twists here and there brought some life and colors into the plot-line.

Their relationship was sweetly orchestrated and their chemistry was undeniable. They learned how to orbite around one another gently without each of them imposing his or her personality. They navigated through their friendship and then their relationship with accepting their differences and finding some commun points. They communicated and shared. It was one of these relationships were both of them worked to deserve the other.💜

ive said it before - AH is a very consistent writer. i have come to rely on her stories having a certain kind of plot, characters and resolution. her books are always a safe option for when i want to just turn my mind off for a bit and be entertained by some relationship drama and/or sweetness.

this particular book, however, is fine. not as good as some of the other things she has written, but still okay. kai is pretty boring, in my opinion, which is why i probably didnt get as into the story as i could have. i did like certain dynamics about his relationship with isabella, but i never felt the need to actively root for them. maybe because there werent as high of stakes?

regardless, this book does what its supposed to in terms of entertainment.

i hate that ive become one of those people who get excited whenever AH releases a new book cause, more often than not, said book ended up being underwhelmingly mediocre—JUST. LIKE. THIS. ONE. that was as bland as a bowl of unseasoned oatmeal. 😩 at least the latter has health benefits. this book, on the other hand, bored me to death that i gave up halfway through and had to resort to skimming the rest. even more infuriating is the fact that i didnt learn my lesson and will keep coming back for more AH content in the future. 🤸‍♀️

i feel like this book had no direction or was simply too... pedestrian/plain/bare/drama-free. Kai (H) is busy trying to win votes for the CEO position in his company. Isa (h) is struggling with her writter’s block. its (sorta) friends to lovers between them, and the only threat to their relationship is all external, meaning: (1) Kais mother doesnt approve of Isa; (2) theyre under scrutiny of cheap tabloids because theyre from different backgrounds. this conflict of parental blessing & social class disparity is sooo overused. im tired of it.

(spoiler par.) theres a bit of forbidden, workplace romance situation because Isa bartends in a club that Kai is a member of, and it only lasts for a second because Isa ends up getting fired. then theres the fact that Kais mother sets him up on a date with a childhood friend, which he accepts cause Isa ENCOURAGES it and they know its only pretend. 💀 i mean, everything just felt sooo... low stakes even when the circumstances had the potential to be more juicy & damaging. i just needed more chaos. like in King of Wrath, at least you have the enemies to lovers dynamic, arranged marriage, and revenge plotline even though its not well executed.

i’d take crazy & OTT over this boring shit. i couldnt even enjoy Kais British accent cause the audiobook hasnt been released yet. 😭

I don't know why I keep trying to find a book by Ana Huang that I like at this point, since it's disappointment after disappointment, but since I'm a masochist, I'll keep trying. I also have to admit that sometimes a mediocre book or one where you don't have to use much brain power is fine, lol. By this I do not at all mean that, if you like Ana Huang's books, you have bad taste, but rather that, in my humble opinion, they are mediocre.

This book does not deserve more than 3.✰ stars, once again, Ana Huang abuses the formula that has been successful for her, I do not see any difference between the King of Sins series and the Twisted series, I understand that they are in the same "universe", but I don't find something that differentiates them or that makes one stand out from the other.

We follow Kai Young, heir to the Young family, who has to earn his position as CEO and cannot let his reputation be tarnished. And we also follow Isabella Valencia, a barista at the Valhalla club, who wants to be a writer, but is in a creative block.

The plot is boring, predictable, it doesn't go anywhere, I mostly skimmed through Isabella's story, I didn't care at all.

Supposedly she is different because she talks about sex in public places, wow, crazy, I know. There is nothing special or interesting about her, having tattoos, purple hair and a snake as a pet does not give the character a personality, just a different aesthetic, but it is not enough.

BORING. I'm sorry but I haven't seen any kind of evolution on the romance, they avoid each other, suddenly there is a lot of lust involved and boom they are suddenly in love without any kind of prior construction.

Surprisingly, and not to serve as a precedent, I liked it, it was not as cringe as in the rest of Ana Huang's series, although phrases like 'this little pussy is mine' make me want to get under a palm tree, grow roots and never come out again.

This book basically revolves around "OPPOSITE ATTRACTS". Kai the MMC is the definition of grace and propriety whereas the FMC Isabella is so carefree and sassy. I loved the chemistry between the characters and the spice, the sexual tension and the heat is off the charts. Ana carried out the trope of "HYPER GF AND CALM BF" very well throughout the book.

He was literally the definition of perfectionism with his godly visuals being cherry on the top y̶e̶a̶h̶ i̶m̶ d̶e̶f̶i̶n̶i̶t̶e̶l̶y̶ n̶o̶t̶ s̶w̶o̶o̶n̶i̶n̶g̶. He was so kind, gentle and caring to her and never once doubted her worth and always motivated her to try and achieve the best for her. He not only encouraged her but was also there for her whenever she needed him.

Honestly Isabella kind of gave me Jules Ambrose vibes with her sassy , carefree and nonchalant attitude. I loved how ana not only showed her joyful side but she also portrayed her insecurities and fears so well. Isabella was portrayed as such a strong character with her own flaws. I legit loved her witty and joyful personality alot.

i loved the chemistry, the fluff, the banter between both the characters. There were so many cute and swoonworthy moments in the book which i love so dearly. It was such a good and fun read obviously Ana served as always. She also mentioned some of twisted characters which in my perspective was little irrelevant. And i found the love story s̶o̶b̶ s̶t̶o̶r̶y̶ of her ex pretty useless. Overall i loved and enjoyed the book 🫶🏻

Tbh im way more excited for Dominic and Alessandra's story. Dom better grovel a lot for his woman because he fucking should. I legit want him to get on his damn knees and ask n̶o̶ b̶e̶g̶ for forgiveness lmfaooo!! 🥹

This series is far more superior than the Twisted series for me. In writing, in characters, the overall story content.

This was thoroughly entertaining to read and I couldn’t get enough of our couple.

Finishing April with a BANG!!!! Like… how can I not give this book 5 stars!! It was everything I wanted it to be! Spicy, fun, interesting and so so soooo romantic and the tension was also so freaking good ugh (both romantically and sexually hehe)….

Ana Huang never disappoints istg. This was literally my most anticipated read of the month and it was EVERYTHING!! She literally put her all into this book and I‘m not kidding when I say that Kai and Isa are so far my favourite couple by hers (besides Bridget and Rhy ofc)! They‘re just too good to be true, literally perfection if you ask me!!

Like… forbidden romance?? Opposites attract?? Secret relationship?? AND ASIAN LEADS????? I‘m absolutely and utterly in LOVE!!!! Like the Asian representation was to die for and the romance had me on my goddamn knees!!
The tension, the chemistry, the build up, the suspense, all of it was just complete and utter perfection! Also the fact that they are literally in such a freaking healthy relationship where they communicate with and support one another… I was swooning!! I loved this book from beginning to end!!

Not only was the romance perfect, so were the two leads!! The way I related to both Kai and Isabella in so many different ways made me fall in love with both of them even more!!

Kai is so freaking charming and dreamy… ugh if I was Isabella I would’ve fallen in love with him instantly!! Like the things he did for her was just… I don’t even know how to describe it!! I‘m literally in love with him! I just loved how Ana Huang also represented him as introverted and closed off! I can very much relate to that. I loved how I could understand so many of his thought processes and feelings and relate to them as well! He‘s honestly one of Ana Huang’s best book bfs! I love Kai Young!!

And don’t get me started on my love for my girl Isabella!! She‘s everything I aspire to be! Confident, witty, smart, fun and so freaking charming as well!! She‘s an amazing female lead and I loved reading her POVs and learning more about her character! She honestly deserves the absolute world!! Also the fact that we share so many interests and hobbies made me love her so so sooooo much more!! I just adore when characters are so relatable! It makes the reading experience so much better!

Another bonus which made me love the book even more were the little cameos of certain Twisted characters… it just made me so happy to see them again even if it was only for a short time! I just love and miss them so much!! And we obviously love seeing Dante and Vivian again! These two were so adorable and I love them so so much! I just love interconnected stand-alones!!!

Overall, this book was soooo worth the wait! It was perfection to its finest and I‘m already so excited for King of Greed!! I know it‘ll be another banger for sure!

i cannot tell a lie 🫢 kai is really up there with daddy rhys larsen 🫢

this felt so different from her other books and i LOVED it.

isabella is the tattooed, free-spirited bartender at the exclusive valhalla club and kai is one of their most elite members known for being very proper and very rich (he’s halfway to husband material on that alone 🤪). their is a strict no-fraternization policy but the two can’t seem to stay away even though both have important deadlines looming.

i loved isabella. she was so funny and real - like who hasn’t felt like a directionless orb at one point or another in their adulthood, let’s be real.

but KAI YOUNG, SWEEEEET BABY JESUS, KAI YOUNG. what have i told you little h0es? it’s ALWAYS the quiet ones.

the filthy mouth on that man 🤭 he was so hot, so attentive, so reassuring, so EVERYTHING!!!! he was ready to sacrifice it ALL for isa and that’s all i need in a hero truly.

now hear me out h0es - miss ana always delivers on the spice, but this one was really about the steam and tension and i loved every second of it.

there’s also business drama, family drama, and cameos from some favorite couples and i loved every second.

i think the next book is marriage in crisis and i need it NOW.

This was such a bland book. The story was basic and cliche. The characters were flat and generic.

I kept waiting for the plot line but the only plot this book had was that Kai is an introverted, sophisticated billionaire who falls for a quirky, extroverted bartender. Their relationship could cause a scandal and jeopardise Kai who’s gunning for the CEO position in his company.

For the third act breakup Isabella suddenly remembers that she and Kai are too different and breaks up with him. You didn’t realise that all this time?

Everyone could see it coming that someone was trying to purposely sabotage Kai to threaten his position except Kai himself.

SPOILERS AHEAD

The story and all the “twists” if you can even call them that were very predictable. Isabella turning out to be a secret heiress makes the forbidden aspect of Kai and her relationship useless. Her past relationship played no part in the storyline. So basically both her “secrets” were unnecessary and added nothing to the plot.

I’m being very harsh but this book was mediocre at best so I can’t help it. Even the smut was underwhelming.

The love confession and the epilogue was cute.
