The Highland Clan #4

Jake (Le Clan des Highlands t. 4)

Rate this book

Alex is a beloved character obviously, so getting a story about his son, who has a huge reputation to follow felt like a natural storyline. I think the moments where Jake turns to Alex for advice were really sweet. And of course the characters from the last series making an appearance is always fun. Definitely heartbroken about Aline's story so maybe skip this one if abuse against women is triggering for you. Excited to read about Jamie since they seemed to be painted as sort of opposites.

Jake (The Highland Clan) #4, but can be read as a stand alone. A delightful Medieval Scottish Historical Romance.

Jake Ramsay, is the eldest son of the chief of Clan Grant, Alexander Grant, the greatest Swordsman of the Highlands. Big shoes to follow, Jake must find his own way and his destiny, not follow his father's.

Aline, kidnapped by an evil man for evil, degrading purposes, from her family. Is abused, merciless and without honor. After a near death beating, she is left in the words to die, where, Jake founds her and takes her to the Grant castle, where they heal her wounds, and make a lead way in her healing her heart and soul. Jake's mother and Aunts, understand her delimma. The sad part to me, was Aline's need to go back to her abuser. She is such a courageous, and brave lass, to face her abuser again.

Well written with intriguing, well-devoloped characters. Steady paced, and emotional tale. The storyline is unique, interesting, intriguing and well devoloped.

Jake has a conflict between following his beloved parents advice or following his heart. Aline, fears telling the Grant's why she must return to her abuser's clutches. The danger practically flys off the pages, along with the sparks between Jake and Aline.
The Grant clan is unusual in so many ways. They tend to pick up orphans, help abused lasses, right wrongs, provide for a large clan and be a favorite with the King, among other things, such as entended clan members.
Can a family lost, be found again? Will the Grant Clan be able to face an unknown enemy and win the day? And can the Grant women help Aline come to grips with her devastating past, and let love into her heart and her to trust again?
A delightful, emotional, utterly compelling and powerful tale. I enjoyed how Ms. Montclair intertwined the families, and the storyline flawlessly and completely.
I found myself holding my breath at times, as Jake and Aline find their way. An absolute delight!

My only complaint, I love Scottish brogue, however, I understand some readers do not. The brogue, to me, brings a taste of Scottish authenticity.
However, this did not in anyway take away from this amazing emotional tale of loyalty, devotion, family, clan acceptance, abuse, both sexual and mental, romance and the power of true love. Fans of Scottish Romance, Medieval Romance, Historical Romance, danger, a bit of suspense, mystery and a great Romantic tale, will enjoy "Jake" and his story, along with Aline's. A must read Scottish Romance! A compelling and powerful read! I look forward to the next adventure from Ms. Montclair.

I'll just start by saying if you have triggers that have anything to do with violence against women just skip this book....just no. skip it.

If you like a rescued battered woman story; keep going.

I did enjoy it; although I felt like the second half was written better than the first half. Aline, found by Jake, is left for dead and he takes her back to his keep to heal. Jake is the great Alexander Grant's oldest son (by a few minutes since he's a twin) and I was excited to read his story to see how he would measure up to his dad.

The first few chapters feel a bit jerky. He asks Aline a dozen question and gets a large amount her back story the second she wakes up from unconsciousness and it just seems a bit awkward for the first few chapters.

So we can skip ahead a bit. Aline meets Jake's family, they're all great to her and then of course she announces she has to go back to her abuser. I get that there is a complicated psychology of battered women that makes them stay, or go back, but this came off as formulaic. As if Aline went back because the plot demanded it, not because she thought she needed to.

Something different about this book is that there is a fair bit of character development that happens after the big fight scene with the bad guy. Jake spends time settling Aline into her new life and those were some of the sweetest parts, I think. There's are some sweet scenes with Jake taking care of Aline's sisters and taking her shopping to get her and her friend set up for winter.

Some awkwardness and over-simplification of abusive situations, but if those aren't triggers for you then I'd say it's worth a read.

This is a good Highlander romance, and a good addition to the Highland Clan series. This one gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

I liked Jake, and was glad to get his story. He was introduced in the first book of the Clan Grant series, when he was born, but there hasn't been much about him as an adult. So it was good to find out more about him. I liked that the story covered his concern about never being able to live up to his father's example as laird -- any son of a very famous and successful father would be likely to feel that way.

I liked Aline a lot, and understood how her past drove her behavior. What happened to her was so sad, and it bothered me how much she suffered. I did think, though, that she would have been more traumatized by the constant rapes and beatings, and would have been terrified of sex. So I don't think she would have wanted to have sex with Jake so quickly.

I was glad that Jake and Aline found their HEA -- they were good together, and Aline needed someone who understood what she had been through.

I also liked most of the other characters, especially the children, who were just adorable. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

mais um que não prometia nada
e entregou muita coisa

Book 4 down

Kindle Unlimited Purchase

I want to leave a review but I do not want to take the time to write one because I HAVE to start the next book in this series.... This series and the Grant Clan series is a great set off books... Each one about a different member of the clan... This series just so happens to be about the next generation... Trigger warning... On a scale of 1-10.. it's about a 2-3... Most of it happens in chapter 1... Even with my past I was able to handle it... Good luck.. don't let it stop you from reading this series... Now book 5 hear I come!

Jake (The Highland Clan Book 4)

Reading about Jake Ramsay being a fierce warrior like his dad, Alexander the Great Warrior was interesting. While Jake nor his twin Jamie had thoughts of marriage, Aline changes that outlook. Clan Grant, along with Jake, go to war against a chieftain that holds Aline and her young sisters hostage.

I just can't leave this family!

If you've read all of this series and the Grant Series, why stop now? I've loved some, liked some and was so-so on some but I'm not going to say goodbye until the last book.

Enjoyable

Another tale of a lass mistreated, instant attraction with a Grant or Ramsay, actions to rescue lass and happy ex's after rescue. An okay story but nothing to lift it to four or five stars.

This was a very surprising tale. It has meaning to modern world today. Women are still afraid at times. The Grants seemed to be a warm clan.

This is book four in The Highland Clan Series. As in previous books you will see some familiar charactera we all know and love.

Autumn, Highlands of Scotland
In this book it it is centered on Jake….John Alexander Grant who everyone has called Jake since he was a child. Jake is the elder of twin born sons of Laird Alex Grant. Jake is in line to be the next Laird. In this book it shows he is the more serious of his twin sons. It also shows Jake’s insecurities about following in his legendary father's footsteps feeling he is not quite good enough. Then he stumbles on a lass who was beaten near death who is our heroine of the story.

Aline of Carron was abducted by the evil abusive narcissist, Lord Hew Gordon. She had been abducted from her home and forced to become Hew’s mistress and do as he bids just because he thought she was pretty. Unfortunately her family did not live among a powerful clan to protest her and her Da had no power in this. This. violent abuser and master manipulator treats her no more then a sex slave and if you say nay or disagree he beats her and uses mind games to control her. When Jake brings her to his mother he knows from Maddies past this will being back unpleasant memories but it is the right thing to do. Aline had never known kindness like that of Clan Grant and as she starts to heal and want to go back to her abuser.
Jake is shocked as Aline is hiding a secret she is afraid to share with anyone. The only person that seems to understand is Jake’s cousin Ashlyn and agrees to help her return when ever she wishes. Ashlyn realizes that someone or something she left behind and needs to return for them. Ashlyn also gives her the option to return to Clan Hrants whenever she wishes.

The attraction between Aline and Jake is immediate but he knows what his mother Maddie went through with her abusers. How can he not go rescue Aline before she ends up dead. Plus her abuser is in cahoots with enemies of The Grants who want to destroy them. What will be Alline and Jakes fate be? Will she trust him enough to open her heart and reveal her secrets? Will Jake’s life be at stake if he tries to rescue her from this horrible abusive man that kidnapped Aline.

Another heart pulling story that's is absolutely wonderful. I really love the family connection with The Grants and how they all support each other no matter what! I love the Jake and Aline pairing and all the layers they went through and all characters from previous books. Keira writes another quick paced read with great dialogue and beautifully written too. You can read as a stand alone or series order.I recommend series order just for a better connection to the characters and more fun of a read! Highly recommend!

**Note: Sadly even today women are still abused with violence and human trafficking is all over the world. This really needs to stop write to your congressman for tougher laws and steeper jail sentences for these monsters!
