They tried to forget their past. Now it’s the only thing that can save them.

Ever since being adopted as babies, twins Sinead and Orla have been the only family they’ve ever known. But as adults, their lives have taken different paths. Orla’s got the big house in Glasgow, the supportive husband and teenage daughter, Molly Rose, while Sinead’s struggle with drugs and alcohol has taken her to some very dark places.

But all of that changes when Sinead receives a call from the woman who gave them up at birth. Their mother, Janey, is back in their lives. But she’s far from what they expected and when the siblings discover their mum is the head of a dangerous gangland firm, their lives are turned upside down.

In a firm like Janey’s, you have to watch your back. And when someone from her past targets her new found family, Sinead, Orla and Molly Rose find themselves pawns in a dangerous game, against someone who will stop at nothing to take his revenge on Janey. But when Molly Rose is kidnapped, it’s time for the sisters to show this family will do anything to protect one of their own.

A hard-hitting, action-packed Scottish gangland thriller that fans of Jacqui Rose, Kimberly Chambers and Mandasue Heller won’t be able to put down.

Wow! What a great read! Two Sisters is definitely one of those books that once you started, you just have to finish, you can't put it down.
It's really well-written. I loved the plot. It's well paced, gripping, intense. There's so much happening and yet it never gets confusing. Bravo, Ms Kane, that's some great writing here.
And that ending... So well delivered.
What can I say? Two Sisters is a great book and I loved it! Highly recommended.

I want to thank NetGalley and Canelo for giving me the opportunity to read that book.

A good twisty Glasgow Thriller.
Sinead and Orla had a hard upbringing in Foster care now at thirty eight years old are still taking different paths in life.
I loved everything about this story will send chills through your body, who can you trust if not your twin? Absolutely Fabulous

This is a great read.
Janey has never forgotten her twin girls who she was forced to give up for adoption.
Orla is doing well but Sinead’s life is spiralling out of control as she struggles with drug addiction.
Orla’s daughter Molly Rose is fiery and when things don’t go her way, she runs away from home.
One of Janey’s businesses is set on fire and she knows who is responsible and is determined to find him. However he soon makes himself known when he kidnaps someone she loves and demands money for her safe return.
This is a gripping thriller that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Canelo and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

My Review

So apparently this is book two in a series, I didn't know and started here, I will be going back and buying the first book now though. That said you can absolutely read as a standalone, that's what I done and we have brief throwbacks to Janey when she was younger so I don't feel we missed out starting here.

Janey is top of her game in the criminal world and the book flips between Orla, Sinead and Millie Rose, Janey's estranged family. Orla and Sinead are twins, given up at birth and now grown women, Sinead is addicted to substances and does what she needs to on the streets to fund her habit. Orla couldn't be more different, mum to teenager Molly Rose, owner of legitimate businesses. Janey has reached out to Orla who shuns her however when Janey's past impacts on them and putting them in danger Orla has no choice but to let Janey in, they will all do what it takes to protect Molly Rose but is it too late?

Not for the faint hearted, it covers topics of abuse, addiction, prostitution, abandonment, SA, trafficking (is touched upon), family, drugs, secrets and more. Set in Glasgow, we see just how far ripples have from the past/decisions to present and consequences of those. Family is at the heart of this one but with the long reach/affects of skulduggery and shady dealings that go on from living "the life" even if you aren't a direct part of it, 4/5 from me and I will be getting book one and looking forward to the next!

Having not read the first book 'Janey', I did wonder whether or not I may have missed important back story details but this book is fine to read as a stand alone. The story focuses on twin sisters who are oh so different. Orla and Sinead have led very different lives, Orla extremely successful in a business she has worked hard for and Sinead sadly has led the life as a drug addict. How do two sisters become so different and will they be able to salvage any sort of relationship? They were given up for adoption by their mother Janey when they were very small and no mother does this unless there are extreme circumstances that have led them to leave their own flesh and blood behind, as the book progresses we will learn why this separation occurred. Orla's daughter Molly Rose, features heavily in the book and has a huge falling out with her mother but maybe the outcome and resolution of this will bring more than this mother and daughter back together.

This is a very enjoyable book and I really felt like I really got to know the characters and quickly became wrapped up in their world, a great way to spend an afternoon. Once again another great book by Alex Kane, I have since now purchased 'Janey' as I want to see where this story really began from. Good plot that moves a long at a fast pace and a very satisfying ending. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions are my own.

This is the follow-on story from the previous book, Janey. I was pulled into this story from the first page. Janey is reunited with the twin daughters she gave up as babies. Molly Rose, Janey's granddaughter goes missing and there's someone from Janey's past that Janey has a score to settle with. Although Sinead and Orla are twins, they are the exact opposite of each other, like chalk and cheese.

This is a rollercoaster read that's filled with twists and suspense. The characters are well-developed strong women who are mostly likeable. The plot centers around the missing Molly Rose. I do recommend that you read Janey first as it features the Hallahan family.

I didn’t realise that this book, was a follow up to Janey. I clicked once I started it. You could read as a stand-alone but I would recommend reading Janey first.
I’m a huge fan of Alex Kane and yet again, absolutely brilliant !! I never tire of her books.

This book was fab, it was fast paced and very easy to read. I couldn’t put it down- it was full of drama and tension.

Sinead and Orla were twins celebrating their 38th birthday. Their lives couldn’t be anymore different - Orla was married with a daughter Molly Rose and ran a very successful business. Sinead was a heroin addict who lived on the streets and turned to prostitution to fund her heroin addiction. They had been given up by their birth mother Janey when they were born and didn’t have any contact with her.

Molly Rose didn’t like Orla interfering in her life and walked out of the family home. She was protected on the streets of Glasgow by a homeless girl called Kassy. They became friends and Molly Rose didn’t return home. Things went badly wrong for the girls one night and events spiralled out of control.

It became apparent that this was all linked to Janey, mother of Orla and Sinead. She came back into their lives and they had to accept it as they desperately needed Janey’s help.

I would definitely recommend this book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Two Sisters. It is a great follow on from the previous book Janey. The authors writing is good and engaging and I was drawn into the story right from the start. Janey is reunited with her daughters in the worst circumstances when her granddaughter goes missing and someone from Janey's past has a score to settle with her. The characters are mostly likeable, there was one I hated with a passion and I couldn't wait for them to be found out. The plot line is good and kept me guessing what would happen next, and the story is fairly fast paced. I really liked getting to know more about Janeys younger years and love how the story moved from past to present times with ease. The last quarter of the book is a very tense and thrilling read with a very unexpected ending that sets up the next book nicely, and I'll definitely want to read it! If you enjoy gangland crime books then this is for you and I'd recommend it.

W.O.W i really enjoyed this book, so I'm so happy to see janey back. ..... it was brilliant, i couldn't put it down....
Twins orla and sinead are like chalk and cheese, sinead has had a rough life in care, then on the streets, becoming a drug addict. Orla had a great childhood with her foster parents. She is married with a teenage 5 owns 3 early learning businesses.
Janey gave up the twins, after being given an ultimatum by finn, her dad. They have had no contact with their mother.. what surrounded the circumstances janey gave them up and who fathered them.????. When orlas daughter molly Rose is kidnapped by janeys step brotger (but not) charlie.. janey steps in, charlie wants janey. Will she give him what he wants???? Can the family put their differences aside????
There are lots of twists in this book, and also, I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING MOMENTS. This is a fantastic read ,give it a go you wont be disappointed.....

Well Well Well.... Alex Kane does it again.
What a superb read this turned out to be. Exciting and fresh, I enjoyed this book from the get go. Brilliant characters and a twist I didn't see coming at all. What a gripping read.
Thoroughly enjoyable. I read this in one day, I really couldn't put it down once started. Twins Sinead and Orla live very different lives. They are total opposites. They don't have contact with their birth mother and each have a reason not to want or to want have contact.
This all changes when a family member is found in trouble. the paths of these individuals has no choice but to cross. But will this be a help or a hindrance to the families involved.
I am mindful of saying too much on this story, its one of those you want to say OMG - this happened and this, but don't want to spoil it for the readers.
What I will say is My goodness, I need more and more from this author, I could have read this on and on. It's left with what I can only say it a cliff-hanger and there really has to be a follow on.
Amazing Writing Alex Kane, please don't leave it too long for the next one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo, Hera.
Orla, a successful businesswoman, and Sinead, a drug addict, are twins but very different. Their mother Janey gave them up for adoption and has now returned to their lives because someone from her past has kidnapped Molly Rose, Orla's daughter, as a means of blackmailing her and settling scores.
The novel is littered with interesting female characters who bring the novel to life with their differences and misunderstandings. A roller coaster where little by little they find ways to meet and redeem themselves.
Two Sisters is also full of action and suspense with surprising twists and turns and an ending that you don't see coming and that promises a sequel. Definitely recommended for fans of crime thrillers and gangs.

Two Sisters by Alex Kane was a twisty Glasgow thriller and it was a great page turner. I found it very hard to put it down from the very first page till the last. This latest book by Alex was fast paced, suspenseful, and very addictive. I loved it.

Two sisters Sinead and Orla had a very hard upbringing in after their mum Janey had to put them in foster care. But, she has never forgotten her twin girls who she was forced to give up for adoption. Sinead and Orla are now thirty eight years old and are still taking different paths in life.

Will they ever meet their mother and if they do how will they react if they do?

WoW this book was brilliant

I loved it and highly recommend this book. A great holiday read.

In this the follow up to Janey we find out more about her early life and the secrets she's buried for so long.I really like the main character she's strong and determined yet somewhere in there is a soft side that she doesn't let many see.The new addition to the series Molly Rose is a somebody who has potential to be a fascinating character as the series continues. The author has the ability to pull you in hold you and deliver an ending that gives you a big OMG moment leaving you wanting the next book in the series now rather than later.I can't wait .
Highly recommended.

I enjoyed this book, it can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading "Janey" the first book to feature the Hallahan family. The well written book moves along at a fast pace and is not lacking in action or suspense. The plotting centres around kidnapping, blackmail and abuse but I loved the characterisation, especially young Molly, It is very believable and there are plenty interesting, strong female characters. The Glasgow setting definitely added to the realism! I really loved the ending, leaving me eagerly waiting for a follow up. If you like gangster books, this is one for you. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Janey Hellahan gave up her twin daughters Orla and Sinead not a day goes buy she not think about them its there birthday and Janey phones Orla but the call not go well. Orla has it all a loving husband a daughter and a successful business. Sinead has nothing what she has feeds her habit. Orla and her daughter Molly Rose have a falling out and she does not come home wont say anymore but it is an amazing and emotional read someone will do anything to get what they want

Didn’t know there was an earlier book, but it didn’t matter, this one stands well by itself. Very strong female characters drive the story as separated twin sisters get back in their birth mother’s life as a result of outside forces seeking revenge for perceived harmful acts. Kidnappings, murders, rape, trafficking, drug abuse are part of the story, but appropriately used. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review.

Mystery thriller. The plot line was great. I finished it fast. The plot line was great, as I really could not put this book down, a little slow at first, but soon picked up pace. Sinead and Orla both were intriguing characters, with completely opposite lives. Suspense builds up gradually. Twisted lies with some action. A nice pastime thriller. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.
