A Boss in a Billion #8

Aroha and the Billionaire Boss

Rate this book
Would you marry the most arrogant man you’ve ever met for a million dollars?

James

Marrying one of the richest, most eligible bachelors in New Zealand sounds like something out of a fairy tale, right? What girl could possibly say no if I proposed?

Aroha Wihongi, that’s who.

Marriage has never been high on my list of priorities, but my sister’s recent death has literally left me holding the baby—my three-month-old niece. Although having kids wasn’t on my list either, I have no intention of letting her absentee, alcoholic lowlife of a father within a mile of her. My lawyer says my chances of adopting her will improve vastly if I can ditch my reputation as a womanizer and stand before the court a respectable married man. So I’ve bought the ring, and now all I need is the right girl.

Aroha’s perfect. She’s a nanny, so she’ll be able to look after my niece, because, let’s face it, I don’t know the first thing about babies. And she’s gorgeous, so nobody will have trouble believing that I fell in love at first sight and proposed immediately. Unfortunately, though, I’m not her favorite person, having dozed off while making out with her after we got drunk at a Christmas party. When I get down on one knee, she tells me to shove the ring where the sun doesn’t shine.

But I remind her that I’m offering a business proposition. She’ll have to live with me, and outwardly, for the court, we’ll need to pretend to be madly in love. But at home we’ll have separate bedrooms, and after I get custody of my niece, we can start the two-year separation that we’ll need in order to divorce.

She’ll get six months or so of living in my mansion, visiting five-star hotels, and eating in top restaurants. I’ll even buy her a brand-new Range Rover. I know her family is desperate for money, so I add a little something to sweeten the deal. One million dollars in exchange for a ring on her finger.

Surely she won’t say no to that?

DNF at 5%.

A friend of mine lived this book so I had hopes. But I just can't with him being interested in the heroine but dating other women. Especially a woman he so obviously doesn't respect or seem to like.

---

I’ve known her for five or six years, and the first time I met her, I thought how gorgeous she was. But she was dating someone else, and by the time I heard she was single, I was seeing someone. The timing just hasn’t worked. But I like her, and I’m pretty sure she likes me, too.

...

I’ve been called a womanizer more than once in the past, but I would never cheat on a girl I was with. Whatever Cassie and I are going through, she deserves more than that.

...

I stayed with her to pacify my father, who has insisted that he’ll write me out of his will if I don’t settle down soon.

Quick Easy Read!

I do need to warn you it’s a very slow burn! I haven’t read something just quick & easy for a while. This is the first book I’ve read in the series and I will definitely read the next book about another almost couple I found interesting. There’s a little spice in the book but it’s not super spicy. I didn’t mind it though because I really liked the storyline. It kept me guessing on some things and not on others but still I enjoyed it! Maybe it was a bit of a palate cleanser for me.

This is a lovely, emotional story about two people who for very different reasons find it difficult to commit themselves to a proper relationship with anyone, no matter how much they like them. Aroha is part of a very close family, but her her father is an unskilled worker, he works hard but they only just manage to survive. Aroha has left home and is living in a shared apartment; she lives as frugally as possible so that she can give her mother part of her wages to help out. Her young brother is severely autistic so her mother is mostly confined to home to look after him, although she does cleaning jobs when she can, in the evening when her husband is home to look after their son. Just before Christmas Aroha’s father loses his job, because of his age it will be hard to get another, and the family are desperate, Aroha realises she will have to give up her independence and move back home. Because she sees how hard her mother has to work to look after her brother, and from an incident with her last boyfriend, she has sworn off romance and is determined that she is never going to have children.

Her best friend Gaby is from very wealthy family, her group of friends includes several billionaires. Aroha has been invited to go to a quiz evening with them, and she decides to go, even though she cannot really afford it, and have a last, carefree, evening before she has to return to living with her family. She has known the group of friends for ages, and they are not bothered that she is broke. She and James have always had an awareness of each other, but she is very conscious of his reputation as a playboy. During the course of the evening he and his girlfriend break up, she has been trying to push him into commitment and he has realised he doesn’t want it, not with her anyway. Of course, he is upset that she has walked out on him, but he spends the rest of the evening chatting with Aroha, and getting tipsy. When he invites Aroha to spend the night with him in a nearby hotel she throws caution to the winds, and agrees. It does not go well, James has drunk too much, and falls asleep. He adds to his sins by leaving her a brief note the following morning, and not bothering to make any effort to speak to her afterwards.

Just after Christmas both of them suffer shattering news, their lives are completely changed as a result. For James it is very tragic. His sister is dead, and it is not initially known whether it was an accident, suicide or murder. He has become guardian to his baby niece Leila - he had such a bad relationship with his father when he was growing up he is determined he will never have children in case he is like his father. He has so many people to see or speak to, so many arrangements to make and a baby relying on him! He realises that Aroha is qualified in child care and asks her if she will look after Leia, and she agrees immediately. She goes with him to his various meetings and to pick up Leia. The meeting with Leia’s father, who left his sister as soon as he knew she was pregnant is particularly difficult. James is determined he cannot let that man anywhere near the child, so he asks his solicitor for advice. To learn that he needs to get rid of his womaniser reputation by … getting married … comes as a shock. He doesn’t want to get married! In his panic he goes for the crass decision, and tells Aroha that he will pay her a million dollars to marry him, in name only, and they can divorce in two years. Although the money would solve her problems she is very hurt and initially refuses.

And so they stumble on, neither of them truly understanding each other, often at cross purposes with each other. They both need to start being honest about their feelings for each other before the future can settle into a happy ever after. And there are many misunderstandings along the way!

It is an interesting read because it is very emotional, and you watch two quite unhappy people break out of the bubbles they have created around themselves and realise that life is better when you let the world in. And in different ways, several people get a happy ending.

I was very kindly sent an ARC of this book for a review; any opinions are my own!

And frankly, James and Aroha will take your breath away.

Unlike some other works in this series, it isn't as "spicy", comparatively, but that doesn't detract fro its overall appeal. Instead, it deals - quite realistically, I think - with what it means to accept massive, major life changes, and that your preconceived notions might not be the be-all or end-all.

James is the MC we meet through previous books, and we know that he and Aroha were GOING to have a one-night stand ... until he falls asleep.

Which in and of itself wouldn't be TOO bad, but he leaves her a note in the morning and doesn't check in with her after, which is worse LOL. Listen, we get to understand the why of it later, but my man really drops the ball here. And a few other times later, which can actually be boiled down to his upbringing that I don't think gets adequately discussed by anyone in the book, either Aroha or his friends.

James is brought up to believe emotions are never to be shown, and discussing things that would be seen as "weak" goes against what it means to be a man. By nature, this then translates into him being actually unable to express his inner conflicts or emotions because HE HAS NO IDEA HOW TO DO IT. He hides behind business deals and agreements and usually recognizes he's made a boo-boo so he writes lovely apologetic letters afterwards, but that's the heart of the matter.

I think that's what I missed the most in this book, actually, and why I docked the one star to make it 4 rather than 5: nobody actually COMMUNICATES to James what he's specifically doing wrong, although on the other hand I do appreciate that equally no one's trying to interfere and be a busy-body. But even the moments they have which COULD have helped, don't, as nobody opens their mouth, leaving him kinda floundering and on his own.

Aroha's partly guilty of this too, because she doesn't mention it either. I like her overall, but the lack of communication on her part that only confuses him further just had me shaking my head.

THAT SAID, though, this is a beautiful story with a tragic twist that ends on a happy note, giving both James and Aroha what they want, and a family neither one of them expected to have. Life turns in mysterious ways!

Ms Woods delivers heartfelt scenes and emotional impact with precision and grace both, and she knows exactly where and how to strike to make her readers resonate with the unfolding scene. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it through in one go right after the ARC landed in my inbox, which should tell you something!

At this point, I've yet to determine which of the Christchurch billionaires is my favourite (it's Titus for Auckland and Kip for Wellington), so I'm waiting to read about Henry and Juliette in the ninth book to make my decision.

But I want to give James and Aroha both a big, big hug, and tell them that, above all, they did a wonderful thing and maybe didn't start off with the emotions all squared away, but their hearts and intentions were in the right place. And that's what ultimately made everything work out in the end, I think.

Definitely recommend!

I always know when I see Serenity Woods name on a book cover that I am going to laugh, I am going to cry, I am going to love the characters and I am going to loose myself in the book, this story didn't disappoint.
Aroha had always been accepted by her best friend Gabby's ultra wealthy friends but their lives couldn't be more different, they didn't have to worry about money whereas Aroha struggled, working in a beauty salon on minimum wage at the same time as trying to help her parents.
After a party Aroha was excited when wealthy James Rutherford, the same James Rutherford who she had crushed on from afar for a long time, invited her back to his hotel room after a toe tingling dance.............the excitement stopped when he drunkenly fell asleep.
Aroha was mortified but her problems were only just beginning, two more catastrophise in quick succession put her life in turmoil but proud, independent Aroha wouldn't accept help offered by her friends.
A light was at the end of the tunnel but was it a light that Aroha wanted to follow. Devastated James had been informed that his sister had died, the sister who he adored, the sister who knew that he didn't want children, the sister who had named him as guardian to his baby niece Leia. While James decided what he was going to do it was suggested by his friends that he employs, now jobless Aroha, as Leia's nanny.
As the story unfolds, beautiful, gentle Aroha and handsome but confused and a little clueless, James grew close, the chemistry was there in spades but James wasn't the sort of man to start a relationship with an employee, even a strikingly beautiful employee living in the same house.
When Leia's drunken, drug fuelled father comes onto the scene with his blackmail threats, Aroha and James, neither of whom wanted children, would fight tooth and nail and do anything in their power to keep Leia, even things that Aroha is not entirely comfortable with.
This is a lovely story with a wonderful HEA.

Would you marry someone for a million dollars? That is a question Aroha has to decide if she can honestly marry James when he asks her this question.

Aroha is struggling since her job at a hair salon is eliminated without any warning. Prior to shutdown due to Covid, she worked as a childminder. But once the world opened back up again, her job was eliminated. She just can't catch a break. She reluctantly joined her friends at a trivia night just before Christmas. Her friends are all wealthy but she is not. But that trivia night is one that changes her life.

James has never really had to struggle to find females who like him but he is always afraid to end a relationship. That trivia night also changes his life. He finally breaks up with his long time girlfriend who even he admits was just using him for his money and status. She honestly didn't love him or like him for who he was inside. Shortly after this eventful night, James finds his world totally turned upside down. He is suddenly the guardian of his twin sister's infant girl. And he has no clue which end is up. He likes Aroha after their meeting at the trivia night and knows she is in need of a job. But he just isn't aware of the fact that she is also helping to support her brother who is autistic with high needs and that her parents are struggling financially with caring for her brother.

James offers Aroha the job of nanny to his niece which eventually leads to the marriage offer. But can both James and Aroha see past their differences and realize that they both love each other for who they really are inside? And can they make this relationship one that will last? I guess you will have to read this story to find out.

slow burn perfection!

Aroha and the Billionaire Boss
Christchurch Billionaires #8
Serenity Woods
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh my heart… oh my ovaries. This story was slow burn perfection! Jane and Aroha may just be my new favourite couple, and this story is now my favourite 💯.
James and Aroha are from absolutely opposites, he’s crazy rich, handsome, smart and can pretty much choose any woman he wants. Aroha comes from a hard working family that’s struggles to make ends meet, her love life is non existent, and she’s about to discover her work life is the same. Until of course James enters her world, they have a great night together, return to his hotel for a night romp, then passes out! Yep, the life of Aroha.
James loves her lust for life and her presence, so when the bachelor discovers he’s the guardian to his niece after her mum dies suddenly, he finds himself in a hole, a hole he desperately needs Aroha to help with. Soon after Aroha finds herself with an offer she can’t refuse, marriage for 2 years, 1 million dollars so James can become permanent guardian and parent for the gorgeous Leia (his perfect princess he never knew he needed), Aroha agrees and soon finds herself married to the Billionaire, but also in love with him and this tiny human desperate for someone to make her number 1.
James might be smart in business, but in love he’s a little challenged, believing his contact will keep everything above board, he didn’t anticipate the feelings, the vision of Aroha in his home, the gorgeous baby who could be his own…. Marriage of convenience to marriage of perfect love!

Aroha and the Billionaire Boss by Serenity Woods
A Boss in a Billion #8

The time has never been right…until it is…or maybe it is…or perhaps it could be if only…

What I liked:
* Aroha Wihongi: hard working, loves her family, caring, trained child carer, works in a beauty salon, grew up in a loving though not-wealthy family, has been attracted to James since she first saw
* James Rutherford: wealthy, family life not easy in spite of money, brilliant, started a company with his friends, has noticed Aroha for awhile but time was never right, suddenly left with his niece
* The way the characters from previous books, and their partners, step up to help and provide support to both main characters – always fun to see them again
* The way that the relationship develops between Aroha and James
* That both Aroha and James were against having biological children – kind of wonder if that will change or not
* The way James changed and grew through the story
* Watching Aroha’s calm help center James
* The thoughtful handling of issues like postpartum depression, chronic depression, assault, and grief
* James’s ability to see so clearly what will help others while being a bit clueless at times
* The setting, plot, pacing, and writing
* That I liked and cared about the characters and wanted them to find their HEA together

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This story is a slow-burn perfection! James and Aroha come from opposite worlds—he's incredibly wealthy, handsome, and intelligent, able to choose any woman he desires. In contrast, Aroha comes from a hardworking family that struggles to make ends meet; her love life is nonexistent, and she’s about to discover that her work life is similarly bleak. That is until James enters her world. They have a fantastic night together, return to his hotel for a passionate encounter, and then he passes out! Welcome to Aroha's life.

James is captivated by Aroha's zest for life and her vibrant presence. When he learns that he has become the guardian of his niece after her mother’s sudden death, he finds himself in a difficult situation—one that he desperately needs Aroha's help to navigate. Shortly thereafter, Aroha receives an offer she can’t refuse: a two-year marriage for one million dollars, allowing James to become the permanent guardian and parent to the adorable Leia, the little girl he never knew he needed.

Aroha agrees and soon finds herself married to the billionaire. As their relationship deepens, she realizes she is falling in love with him and the precious child who longs for someone to make her number one. While James is astute in business, he struggles with matters of the heart. Believing his contract will keep everything straightforward, he doesn’t anticipate the surge of emotions that arise, the vision of Aroha in his home, or the beautiful baby who could become his own. What starts as a marriage of convenience transforms into a marriage of perfect love!

You can be poor and have every thing going against you, and you can be extremely wealthy and have every bit as much pain and obstacles blocking happiness and a peaceful serene life. Aroha and James have been eyeing each other since they met through mutual friends years ago, but it takes a drunken trivia night to set them on their crash course to their Happily Ever After.

But first, they have to go through roadblock after roadblock, alone and together., and with their extended real family and found family. At the beginning, I was thinking this can’t all happen to only two people during this short time. Then I realized, yes it could! Especially with the support of their friends. I don’t know if Serenity set out to conquer almost every trope in Romanceland, but if you like one particular subgenre, I guarantee you will find it here and love every word of every page that leads from one to the next!

I was going to pace myself, read a couple of chapters a night, to digest. Then I did what I always do—read the whole book in one sitting, dreamed about it, and reread it the next morning, to make sure that yes, that sadness happened then, that joy happened there. Throw in an adorable niece, and you end up with another incredibly happy couple of a billionaire boss and his unexpected but very much needed blissful partner. I am a thrilled recipient of an ARC for this book!

Again I am in love with another book in this series. I love when all the characters show up from the other seven books because it is so much like real life. Everyone has problems. They all are in relationships or are married, and there is such closeness like a close knit family.

James and Aroha's relationship blossoms in front of the whole group. They all have opinions, and sometimes don't hold back on their advice.

James takes Aroha home after the gang has met up, and proceeds to fall asleep on her before he makes love to her. This opens up a lot of fallback from the group and Aroha and James are continually being judged and teased.

When James' sister dies unexpectedly, he takes her newborn daughter, Leia, and opens up a whole new set of circumstances that plague him throughout the book.

Aroha is brought into the situation and James is confronted with needing her help, but he has been a real jerk to her. James is not a bad guy, just a little daft in understanding how to treat a woman.

I loved Aroha and her bright, enthusiastic way of approaching life. She was sweet and way to giving to James. It almost took the whole book for James to finally get it. Their story is rocky and there is a lot of angst and misunderstanding. I love the ending.

I’m loving A Boss In A Billion Series and i was excited to read James and Aroha Wihongi’s story in Aroha and the Billionaire Boss book 8 in the series. This series gets better with each book I pick up and I loved everything about this emotional and entertaining romance. As I have come to expect from Serenity Woods I was immediately transported to New Zealand and I felt like I was visiting and catching up with friends.
James and Aroha are friends and when he unexpectedly becomes guardian to his newborn niece he goes to her for help. Needing to clean up his playboy reputation he offers her a million dollars to marry him and solve both their problems. But money is not what makes this girl tick and all she will first agree to is to become the live in nanny. What follows is a heartwarming love story that’s also heartbreaking as James comes to terms with the guilt he feels over his sister’s tragic death.
This is a story about a fake relationship that soon becomes real but the problem is both James and Aroha are scared to act on their feelings. This book ticked all my boxes and it’s a great addition to the series.

wonderful series

I absolutely love this series and have read them all from the beginning. The writing is so good you don’t want to put it down which is bad if you’re reading on your lunch break. This book can be a standalone but I would recommend reading at least Beauty and the Boss as well as Mistletoe and the Boss. Aroha and Mistletoe’s book overlap quite a bit and would make this one more enjoyable if you read the previous book. That being said this book has a great story but has some trigger for depression, rape referred to as assault, possible suicide and custody problems. In the previous books the main characters have sex through out the book but that doesn’t happen until the last twenty pages so if your looking for a hot and spicy read find something else. This is as PG rated as they come but please don’t let that keep you from reading this story. Mistletoe was probably my favorite of the books but since this overlaps so much it made me enjoy this one as much. Serenity has a great editing so I didn’t find typos or missing words in her books which is a bonus. I would recommend this book and all of the other books in the series and look forward to the next in the series with Henry and Juliette.

4.5 Star Review Aroha and the Billionaire Boss (A Boss In A Billion #8) by Serenity Woods

Aroha and the Billionaire Boss was an entertaining, well written story that will draw you in and hold you captive until the end. This book was everything that I look for in a romance, add in the descriptive writing which transports me to New Zealand.

When I first read the blurb for this book I knew I had to read it. Aroha Wihongi, is offered a million dollars if she will marry James and yet she refuses.

When James suddenly become the guardian for his niece, he knows he needs help. Not least because his reputation as a playboy will not look good when he applies for custody.

Turning to Aroha, a nanny to help he is shocked when she turns down his business proposal. These two have history and he is not her favourite person. The lack of communication between these two frustrated me a little but I was fully invested in the story that Ms. Woods wove.

Neither Aroha or James ever expected to find love and family but that’s what they did and it was entertaining to watch as their relationship developed.

Coming from a family who have struggled all their lives, Aroha Wihongi tries to stay positive. She was a childcare assistant but lost that job when Covid caused them to close and now works at a beauty shop. Trying to support her family, she sends half of her earnings home to help. Her best friend Gaby is rich and tries to help but Aroha refuses every time. One night, Aroha agrees to go to game night with Gaby and other friends who are all wealthy. That night things changed for her. James, who is super smart billionaire, is also a very caring person. When she opened up to him about losing her job, he offered her a job in his office. There is so much in this story. There is heartache when James’ twin sister falls to her death and has named him guardian of her baby daughter. When Aroha helps him and offers to stay and take care of the baby, it doesn’t take long for her to love that baby but knows she is only a nanny. There is so much more to this story, and I will read it again. You feel the caring and support of all the friends as well as the anguish the baby's father causes.

The next installment in the A Boss in a Billion series, Aroha and the Billionaire Boss, is a very emotional one.

This book follows James, the Financial guy and one of the partners at Kia Kaha. We were introduced to him and his FMC Aroha, in the last book in the series.

In this book James ends up with guardianship of his 3 month old niece. To keep her he must marry, so he asks Aroha. What follows is a great example of the Fake Relationship trope. James was such a sweetheart. He really loved his sister but their relationship was complicated. Aroha was exactly what he needed, having been a nanny previously, she slipped into the role of caring for his niece with ease.
She was also emotionally intelligent, whereas he struggled with some emotions. This book was a harder book for me to read and review than the others as it was quite sad in parts. Overall though, I really enjoyed James' story ( I read it in one night, I needed to know what happened) and can’t wait for the next installment.

This book has it all! Great banter, friendships, emotional situations from exaltation to grief and of course steamy relationships. James and Aroha have seen each other at many social gatherings since they have mutual friends, the attraction is always there. The timing was never right. Now after an embarrassing night they are thrown together again. This time each has something to offer the other when they are faced with terrible situations. James can help Aroha and her family financially. Aroha can assist James first as a temp in the office and then as a caretaker. James must decide what he really wants in his private life; Aroha must understand the worth of herself, not monetarily but as a caring, giving, intelligent woman. The emotions between them go from a slow simmer to a boiling point and they both need to make a decision on what they want for the rest of their lives.
What a terrific book! Once again, I was drawn in on page one and could not put the book down. Serenity Woods knows how to pull readers in and they never want to leave!

I have been waiting for this book. Love Serenity woods and this is one of my favorite series so far. I loved getting back to this lovely group of friends and family. This was more on the emotional side but it was all worth the wait. I liked this one a lot. It was completely not what as expecting. Sort of like Alice and billionaire boss. I had zero expectations with that one but it is my second fav after the second book that is my favorite. I was expecting normal billionaire and Nanny romance but it was so much more than that.

The only reason for me giving 4 stars is that I felt there some things that could have been there more. Like the interaction between James and his father. Some how I felt it was ended quickly in the middle of the book. Also I would have liked a bit more emotional or just more moments between Aroha and James after the crisis at the end. I don't want to give the exact incident as I don't want to post a spoiler review. That is all. That would have made much more impact for me.

Otherwise beautiful book and heart touching moments.

I don't know how Serenity Woods does it, but every time I finish one of her books, I think, "Now THIS is my favorite"! "Aroha and the Billionaire Boss" is no exception.
One of the things that makes Woods' book so special is the way she is always on top of what is happening in the world. This book, like the others in the series, includes many aspects of using AI to assist in the health industry. We also read about Aroha's brother being on the spectrum. Combine this aspect with the AI technology and Woods' incredible talent for writing a romance story and you have yourself a winner!
I loved how strong both James and Aroha were throughout the story. There were several times that I thought I knew what was going to happen (following the pattern of many typical romance stories) but Woods always surprised me by going in a different direction.
A fabulous, warm, and heart-felt story, wonderful characters, the beauty of New Zealand, and an incredible author. I would definitely recommend this book.

This is a bit heavier reading than your average billionaire boss fare. A cover like this and I expect to read about hot office shenanigans. But it gets a bit tragic when the hero's sister with post-partum depression dies suddenly and it might have been a suicide. (Unless a bad ex was involved.) I confess that I skimmed some of this because I wasn't in a suitable frame of mind to deal with all the angsty issues this book was crammed with. Apart from the tragic loss, there are Aroha's family and their financial problems, her brother has autism, she gets unemployed, the hero gets migraines and has issues with his parents. Then there's the question of the custody of the deceased sister's child, his company, their relationship, and so on.

When I got started reading this author she used to write shorter romances but lately her books have grown much longer.

I don't know. Life is complex, and many people have multiple issues they have to deal with. It was just a bit much for one book I think.

I received an ARC and this is a voluntary opinion.

Aroha and James’ story in Aroha and the Billionaire Boss by Serenity Woods, book eight in her A Boss in a Billion series, is an amazing, emotional, and heartwarming love story. James and Aroha have become friends while attending many social gatherings thanks to their mutual friends. These two have always been attracted to each other but the time was never right. When his twin sister Maddie dies and names James as the guardian for his three month old niece, Leia, he is way out of his comfort zone. Aroha has childcare experience and agrees to be her nanny. During this time, Aroha is always there for James, especially helping him deal with his grief. To keep Leia and avoid a custody battle, James needs to marry; offering Aroha a marriage in name only. Fortunately, Aroha was exactly what James needed, as she slipped into the role of caring for his niece and him, with ease. Neither Aroha nor James ever expected to find love, or have a family, but that’s exactly what happened. It was entertaining to watch their relationship develop.

Ms. Woods wrote a wonderful, emotional, sad yet passionate story that should not be missed. James and Aroha shared a chemistry that sizzled. James struggled with communication and emotions; based on the way his father treated him. It was also fun revisiting with the large cast of characters from previous books (Wellington and Auckland Billionaires) and getting some fun updating and reminiscing. I highly recommend Aroha and the Billionaire Boss to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

Allow enough time to read this. It is hard to put down.

Aroha used to have a job as a childcare assistant until the covid shutdown. Now she works in a beauty salon. However, her friend invites her to a quiz evening where she connects with James Rutherford. James is breaking up with his girlfriend and is attracted to Aroha. Then his life becomes even more complicated when his sister dies leaving him as guardian to her young baby. But his sister's ex sees the baby as a way of extorting money from him. James's lawyer suggests that he would have a better chance of custody. James suggests that Aroha marry him until he gets permanent custody. He offers a large sum of money which could help Aroha's family.

I love this series of books. This book reads fine as a standalone. I loved how Aroha delt with being the hard up member of the group.

This is another great Serenity Woods book. Enjoy.

DO NOT read this book if you want a light hearted read that you don't want to engage too deeply with. Yes, this book is ultimately a romance but it's also so much more than that. Serenity deals with some deep emotions and issues in a sensitive manner that will make you cry and get torn up inside for the characters.
Little Leia steals your heart and the jokes privide some comedic relief that may or may not have been used IRL after reading. Aroha is amazing - a strong woman with strong principles who looks after everyone and can't see how wonderful she is. I also enjoyed the brief catch up with the other characters from the other Billionaire books and love seeing how scenes from those other books intertwined into this one.
The Boss in a Billionaire series just keeps improving with each story. While I can't wait to finally read Juliette and Henry's story next, I don't want the series to end.

This latest “Boss in Billion” offering follows James and Aroha down a pretty rocky road to their HEA. Along the way we encounter some pretty heavy themes ….. possible suicide, survivor guilt, physical violence and greed. We see our characters grow, individually and together, as they face grief, disappointment and responsibility. As our billionaire James connects with Aroha, he begins to see what he has shut himself from. Aroha, my new favorite character, is totally down to earth, selfless, warm and caring. She shows how the beliefs and traditions of the Maori people have molded her into someone who can reach not only James but the reader as well.

Although this definitely works as a stand-alone, our friends from previous “Billionaires” make significant appearances as well. I felt this was a “meatier” story than most and heartily recommend it. I enjoyed receiving an advance copy and am happy to offer my personal opinion. I think this is my favorite book in the series!!

I enjoyed James and Aroha as a couple, even when they determined they were just friends. Their humorous, witty banter, the way they supported each other, and the way they grew to love Leia.

I liked the relationship James had with Alex, Tyson, Henry, and their significant others. Although Aroha did not come from money, I loved the way the group embraced her as part of their family of choice.

James and Aroha did this really, really slow burn before they fully accepted their feelings for one another. They had a few emotional issues to deal with that managed to be both heart wrenching and heartwarming.

I feel like their romance moved at a slower pace and along a different path than some of the previous couples in the series. Yet, I didn't think any of the expected romance and sensuality that Serenity Woods includes in her books was lost.

Aroha and The Billionaire Boss is book eight in the fabulous Christchurch Billionaires series. I can be read as a perfect stand-alone although there are characters and story references from the previous books in the Billionaires series. Personally, I recommend reading then all to really understand these amazing billionaires, their friendship and relationships.

Aroha and James come from completely different worlds. He is a billionaire and her family is poor, hardworking and facing even more hardship. He lets her down, then needs her help .. can she forgive him.
This is a wonderfully emotional book with depth and honesty rather than steamy and it will not fail to draw you in and keep you hooked to the very last page. Serenity woods writes with heart and soul and never disappoints. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Sparks have been flying between James and Aroha since they have met but they have remained just friends. When his twin sister Maddie dies and names him guardian for his niece Leia, Aroha agrees to be her nanny. Aroha is always there for him, especially in his grief. When he needs a wife in order to keep Leia, James offers her a marriage in name only. I received a free copy of this ebook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I love how Aroha is so caring and forgiving and puts Leia's and James's needs before her own. The story has a few steamy scenes, but is less spicy than the last few books in this series. I prefer that since I'm drawn into this series by the characters and the story.

Aroha's life went from okay to bad in a few days. Luckily James was there to catch her. Then she was able to return the favour when James' world exploded.

What a beautiful love story! Aroha and James have been dancing around each other in many of the previous books in this series and I am happy that they finally got their HEA.

Aroha is an amazing, selfless woman who has made me question how I would react in a number of high stress situations.

This book is part of a series and most of the characters appear in many of the books. It is however a standalone story without a cliffhanger, just a few tantalising hooks to make you hungry for the next book.
