With no choice but to comply as he forces her to explore the depths of her newly-discovered magic, Rhea’s power grows with each mind she rips into. All the while, her mother’s cry for balance rings in her head.
Thorne and his friends are the most wanted men in Tarakona. Travelling as fugitives, the network orders that they begin to find others like himself and Rhea, who have magic when no one else does. The same mages the Crown is hunting.
For his entire life, Thorne has been fighting to return the magic the Youngbloods stole to the people of Tarakona. But now all he can focus on is fixing the worst mistake of his life.

After that cliffhanger in book 1, I was excited to jump back into this world and read Of Shadows and Sails.
I knew going into it that Rhea would face some terrible moments and appreciate the author's note at the beginning. This book picks up where the first ended and although I enjoyed this book, there were some parts that felt a bit slow.
Despite another cliffhanger (which I expected), I’m most interested to hear what Thorne does next.
I’m not going to lie I almost never leave reviews. This book though left me NEEDING more. When I say it’s incredible I mean it. Its fourth wing meets throne of glass. The fact that more people haven’t read this astounds me. If you are looking for an incredible series to read this is it. Fantasy, romance, dragons and more. This book is it
Welcome back to Rhea and Thornes struggles to release magic back to the world. To betrayals, to love, to secrets and control. To heartbreaking decisions. Of Shadows and Sails kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story. Rhea has had to deal with so much in this story, from one captor to another. From escaping to having to surrender herself to save the man she loves. Rhea has had to learn who to trust and to trust herself. My heart broke for Thorne when he lost his magic. I truly hope there is a way for him to get it back, though that may be the part of me that wants HEA for all. I can’t wait for book 3!

The plot of this book was great! There was adventure, spice and dragons! What more could you want! (There are also several trigger warnings: psychological and sexual abuse) It kept me engaged and wondering what Rhea and Thorne were going to do next! I am excited for the next book in the series.
I did question some of the motives of the characters, like when Rhea helped Thorne escape and then went with him. It didn't explain Rhea's motivation and up until that point she had be 100% brain washed by Torrin and she firmly believed that Thorne was the bad guy so I was a little confused by her decision there.
I was also a little confused why Thorne pushed to go on the mission to save the ship of Mages. Clearly, the mission wasn't going to go well and he was going to get caught. Why risk it? Especially when he was so in love with Rhea and just wanted to be with her.
The writing in the book could use some work. There were some continuity errors, and the change from one character to another character felt clunky. Pronouns were used sometimes in place of character names where I think names were needed. There were also several typos and some repetition in some of the paragraphs.
Over all though, I highly recommend this series! Both books in the series so far were great reads! I had a hard time putting them both down as I just kept needing to know what happened next!

Wheeeew this book! Although I found this book to be slow at times, I was completely hooked and then subsequently shattered by it. I had a full on jaw-drop moment at the twist and then cliffhanger. Rhea is a great female main character - you’ll range from being wildly frustrated with her to feeling absolutely heartbroken by everything she endures. If you’re a fan of slow burn fantasy romance and super protective/burn the world down to save the girl male main characters, you would probably enjoy this series.
I had the pleasure of receiving an ARC for Of Shadows and Sails after reading the first book in the series and really enjoying it!
OSAS continues to follow Rhea on her journey of twists and turns as she navigates her new way of life, learning more about herself every chapter that passes.
I must say, I found the first book slightly easier to follow. In saying that, I still enjoyed reading OSAS while I was on holiday.
LOVE THIS SERIES! This book in particular ramped up the spice 🌶️🔥👌🏼 which we do love ❤️. Rhea goes on a hell of a journey. Being “free”, being a prisoner. The girls a pingpong. . Now we are heading into the “enemy” territory to be used and abused a bit more. Really interested to see how shit goes down with the long lost family after the betrayal! And of course to see if Thorne and Rhea get to find peace.

I had read Of Dresses and Dragons and was so eager to read the second book! This has the thrill of fantasy and romance but also the suspense and angst of whether they get out alive or not. It's an easy read if you are branching into fantasy books with adventure! I can't wait to order the third book!!
I’m really enjoying this series. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Thank you so much to the author for allowing me the opportunity to receive arcs for both the first and second books. Thorne & Rhea are awesome characters to read.
Absolutely loved this book, even though I was sick with the flu I didn’t want to put it down, definitely recommend!!! I can’t wait for the next one to come out!
Ahh! I loved this! This was a lot more action heavy than the first book, and felt more emotional to me, with Rhea's relationship's with other characters (especially Thorne 👀) becoming more developed. She also gets to develop and explore her powers more throughout the story, which is at times fun and also emotional. I don't want to get too spoilery as this is the second book, and I prefer my reviews to be able to be read by anyone, but the end was just written so well, in a way that makes me so excited to pick up the next book (which I have a physical copy of right next to me so that will be happening ASAP!). This is a completed romantasy trilogy, which is on KU
