Daddy Undercover was a quick instalove story. There are no mysteries, nothing besides the mapped out plot in the blurb. Two dimensional characters flatten the already choppy read.
P.S. For all my typo twitching readers. If this review doesn't dissuade you- let this warning. Too many words are misused. Thing instead of think. Or instead of our.
Daddy Undercover is about Benjamin, an FBI agent who is starting his service in a new city. For his first case there, he must investigate a group of criminals who have stayed hidden in the shadows. Because he cannot be recognized from his previous work, he decides to get close to the sister of a suspected criminal, Maeve. Maeve is a strong, independent woman, but she has suffered a lot—after her father’s death, she realized that the family’s money came from shady sources. Her brother assures her that he isn’t involved in that dark world, but he does it more to protect his sister and make her feel safe.
Benjamin quickly becomes attracted to Maeve’s strength and attitude. At first, everything is just part of his mission, but as he falls in love, things get complicated. At one point, Maeve invites Benjamin to her house, but her brother looks at him with suspicion. Both of them want the best for her, but each in their own way. So, besides dealing with conflicts related to his job, Benjamin also struggles to build a relationship, and guilt increasingly affects him because he can’t tell the truth.
The story is very romantic, and the action takes a backseat—there is some, mainly toward the end. Benjamin and Maeve share many pleasant moments; they go out, do activities together… I loved their relationship and how everything develops naturally over the months. I also enjoyed feeling Benjamin’s conflict as he struggles between his job and his feelings. I felt that the resolution of the case was a bit forced, perhaps because the author focuses more on the romance and Benjamin isn’t fully focused on his mission. Still, Daddy Undercover is a great choice if you’re looking for an intense story of love and secrets.
Ben is an FBI agent who is going undercover to find out what Maeve's brother is up to. Even though he is attracted to her he cant do anything because it will cost him his job. Yeah that last 3 chapters and there in bed together.
He is pretty much in love with her straight away. The weekend after they meet he takes her away for the weekend. Aren't you supposed to be finding things out about her brother? Not gonna find much if you leave for the weekend.
They get back and her brother says he knows he isn't who he said he is and tells him to leave his sister alone so Ben dumps her. The next day he goes to work and tells his boss he is quitting cos he fell in love with his mark. After a week he is giving up a 20 year career for her, eye roll!!
3 weeks since she met him she starts getting morning sickness and she is surprised she is pregnant. I wasn't as they only mentioned using a condom once. She then says they were careful every time but one sex scene she said they were fully dressed, he pulled her panties to the side, freed himself and they did it against the wall. No talk of him stopping to put on a condom.
She hates how controlling her brother is and when she finds out about Ben she wants to go and talk to him but the brother wont let her. Then her friends come over and they are exactly the same. Telling her what to do. She needs new people around her!
Her brother kind of redeemed himself in the end bit it wasn't exactly a plot twist. I knew exactly what was going to happen
This was full of errors/mistakes. She is on her phone but then the next bit her brother stole her phone. She tells Ben who killed her father but then his boss tells him again and he says he didn't know. There are words in there that don't belong or missed out completely. Sentences that make no sense. Also I'm sorry but how did she keep that job? Worst employee ever.
There was also a lot of over detailing in this. He was wearing a seersucker shirt with a guru collar, why did I need to know that. He was wearing a shirt would have been enough.
The only thing that slightly saved this book was the epilogue and the fact that she made him work for her forgiveness
🚫 N O T A S 🚫 "¿Maeve?
I loved Daddy Undercover The Forbidden Attraction. Ben’s first assignment in Boston is to get close to Maeve to learn about her brother. What Ben doesn’t anticipate is falling head over heels for her. Maeve can’t believe her luck meeting Ben, he’s perfect, too perfect her brother would say. Ben can’t believe he’s having to lie to Maeve but once he gets the information he needs he will be telling her the truth. Unfortunately, her brother makes threats and so Ben breaks things off with Maeve, breaking her heart. Now, she’s mad at her brother, upset with Ben and keeping a big secret. Big surprises, shocking revelations and a few deaths; this is a great story and I loved the characters. I would definitely recommend this book.

I absolutely loved how Lydia Hall wrote Ben & Maeve's story. I can tell you I was hooked right from the start & had to keep reading until I had finished. He's undercover FBI sent to investigate her brother. Emotions & feelings quickly develop but will all that be smashed to pieces when she finds out what his job is?.

Ben takes a transfer in the FBI after discovering his girlfriend cheating. He is given a case to take down Cillian who is the brother of a man he took down. To do this he has to get close to Maeve his sister. This charming story kept me glued to the pages to see what happens when Maeve discovers just who Ben is and how it effects their relationship.

A fantastic book about circumstances bringing two honest, hardworking individuals together. Significant differences in their worlds and families, lead to tensions and questions about love and loyalty. The characters are wonderful and the plot is engaging. A very enjoyable book!

ARC Review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is a very cute story of agent Benjamin Hayes who goes undercover to catch a criminal and his in is through Maeve O'Connor.
So many grammatical errors made it annoying to read. The plot and characters are super basic. Timelines didn't make sense. Overall, just a mess and not worth it.
