Bhatkhande Kramik Pushtak-Maalika Volume 1: A textbook series on Indian (Hindustani) Classical Music

The Hindustani Sangeet Paddhati, Kramik Pushtak Malika was originally published in Marathi, as a a 6-volume set designed to be a set of text-books for the teaching of Hindustani music (though not for self-instruction; learning of Indian music requires guidance from a teacher). A Hindi edition of these volumes were published in 1953 and these are still in publication (latest August 2006, Sangeet Karyalaya, Hathras, India). Only the first volume of this series is available in English (translated by Laxminarayan N. Garg, and first published in 1990). Here we present the first volume of the Kramik Pushtak translated in english and with music typeset in western notation.
