Goodness am I really the first person to review this book on this pltform. I'd better think about how I set the discussion then!
I really enjoyed reding this book. I really like that this book is by a women about women, I also like the refreshingly straightforward language used by all the participants (no liminal, neocoloniasm or post modernism here). I like the way it addresses different themes and makes them clear so you can read what interests you. I found myself in many of the chapters and as a writer feel I am starting to understand what makes a director tick.
Standing back I have to acknowledge a mild frisson that leads me to ask "Given the statistical occurence of some of the groupings covered in this book (in the population) am I seeing an accurate represention of all women directors or are some of the groups over represented?". Please don't get me wrong it was a great way to learn about under represented groups and I will be following up some of the references and practices suggested to be more inclusive, myslef, its just a intellectual niggle.
