Maddox is a trusted member of the Thibodeaux crime family. Best friends with the leader, Arman Thibodeaux. After a group breach a welcome home celebration for Zoe (Arman’s daughter who graduated college with a double major) and leaving Arman with a life threatening injury Maddox is tasked with keeping Zoe safe. Arman asks Maddox to take her to Maddox’s residence in Saint Barts. No one one in the organization know about this property but the two of them. Maddox does as his friend and boss asks knowing it will take all his will power to keep Zoe at arms length yet protect her. He has deep feelings for her.

Zoe, a dual major in music and nursing and still no idea what she wants to do, has been living in New York City. Her father requests that she come home to New Orleans at least for the summer. She is hesitant because she has had a huge crush on Maddox since she was a little girl but gives in. Now she learns she is being tasked with leaving the country indefinitely with Maddox while her father is in ICU fighting for his life.

It has been determined that Zoe was the target of the breach. Someone wants her. But WHO?

The Wiseguy is book three in the Savage Empire series. A full-length standalone novel with no cheating or cliffhanger. A brilliantly crafted story with broken individuals and a storyline fueled by revenge that by throat with it's pulse-pounding action, secrecy, mystery, and adventure. It's interconnected with characters from previous books appearing which adds depth to the story. This story contains dark themes and strong sexual contents which includes spankings and rough intense fucking that may some may finds offensive. If such material offends you, please don't don't buy or review this book. A fast paced, dark, violent, sociopathic, and thrilling read. This is Maddox and Zoe story. It's told from a dual point of view. An absorbing addicting and impossible unputdownable read. This series keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to see what Piper come up with next. Will Thomas get his book or Louie?

Zoe Thibodeaux is the oldest of Arman she's twenty-three years and living in New York City going to school. She wants to do her own thing away from the mob or possibly do something on the legal side of the business. Maddox had always been her bodyguard since she was a little girl and one day on her eighteen birthday she her friends went out and they got drunk, Maddox finally saw that she had grown up with curves so he had to get out of there. Arman had always tell him that she was off-limit. When Zoe was going away to school she got the courage to give to kiss him on the plane when her dad wasn't looking but Maddox rejects her telling her to enjoy school. She was so devastated by his rejection. There was a threat in regards to Zoe so Arman asked the only person who he trusted the most with his life to go on protect his daughter without her knowing that he's there in New York until he and his wife gets there for her graduation in a few days. Zoe is moonlighting at seedy bar for money without her father knowing. It was there as he watch her let music take her, he see that she's a woman and he's drawn to her allure and attracted to her.
Although Arman's dad is no longer the kingin of the he secretly entered into an agreement for an arranged marriage with Devin Carlo for his son for a strong alliance without telling anyone of his plans. When Arman got wind of contract he tried to buy out with every dollar that he had and call Devin on the phone to broke it but he wouldn't answer. He was in fear for his daughter and that's why he convince to return to New Orleans after her graduation. But deal came back and bite in the butt almost causing his life as well his daughter. Arman convinced her to come back after her graduation and they have a big elaborate party where they invite everyone from the mayor to actress, everyone who was who's. Zoe was trying to get Maddox jealousy by flirting with two guys but it backfired and he had to save her from the aggressive guy. It was that night Maddox said he had enough and fucked her in the greenhouse. But as soon as they were finished the same threat that Arman was worried about and didn't tell anyone about struck when mask men storm his home.
Arman was shot and end up fighting for his life. Francois was the acting kingpin so he tells Maddox to take Zoe to his private estate in St. Barts to protect. Maddox was happy being away from the action. Someone was trying to tear the organization inside out and destroyed the Thibodeaux Family. It was a push and pull between Zoe and Maddox on the island as the attraction burns and reaches a fever pitch. They succumb to their passion and it was electrifying, magnetic and scorching hot. Trouble finds them in paradise and it was a fight their lives as Zoe proves that she can hold her own and she's not going out without a fight. Tony tells Maddox that Lucas Marciano is an assassin out of New York for the Gambino Family. But guy who he saw was around sixty and he can't be doing assassin. But the real assassin is around forty something but now he's working for some bigwig rancher in Maddox hackles raised because Devin Carlos rules a portion of Texas.
Lucas has the same reputation as the boogeyman, someone who sticks to the shadows. Maddox have to stay in thick of things surrounding even though he's on the island so as he researches threat. The real Lucas Marciano had been murdered. When someone tried to kill Zoe and blow up Maddox plane he knew that it was time for them to leave. They were so many surprises when they confronted Jean Baptiste Arman's dad and find out that he didn't sign that marriage license they decided to go to Texas because Zoe belongs to Maddox and he wasn't going to let her go. Everything came to head when the man who he thought was in prison shown up at Devin house guns still hell bent on killing his son because he didn't want him and he hated the fact that Jean Baptiste sent him to prison then took him in.
Maddox father Jack was Jean Baptiste right hand man until he threw him away. He betrayed by sealing $400, 000 from him when worked for him to fund a mercenary army, Jean then accepted Maddox into his family as one of his son. He had him toss in prison and was the reason for his face getting caught on fire. Jack has been trying to destroy the Thibodeaux Family for Jean Baptiste betrayal starting with his granddaughter and he plan on finishing his like he promised. But when Maddox hears him mention Zoe's name he saw red and just end it right there. Maddox had vowed to be alone after the overdose of his ex-girlfriend twenty years ago but Zoe is the light to his darkness and she makes him want kids something his best friend has. I devoured every single detail of this book. Dark. Complex. It's naughty. And downright savagery and depraved.

This intricately woven mafia-themed story by Ms. Stone had many layers and diverse
and distinctive characters that enthralled me from start to finish. It is a dark, forbidden romance with elements of danger, revenge, fear, and sacrifice. It bleeds raw passion and is seductive, devious, daring, and full of hope for a relationship between Zoe and Maddox. The tension was palpable. The sex scenes were explosive, and trust me, there was a lot of sex between these two. It was interesting to see how their relationship developed while facing danger and family disapproval. I feel that their bond intensified when danger was present and made them more determined to plow through obstacles in their way.

What would you sacrifice for love? This is the dilemma Maddox found himself in while
trying to keep Zoe safe. Zoe was the only daughter of his best friend and boss,
Thibodeaux. Maddox was an enforcer for the family, and killing was his drug of choice. Despite the age gap, Maddox knew Zoe was off-limits, but he was obsessed, and the more time he spent trying to keep her safe, the more his forbidden desire to make her his increased. Maddox's knowledge and instincts taught him how to stay one step ahead of danger which kept them both safe. I found him to be a complex man. He was an enigma, and the snippets you get from his past paint a picture of an emotionally scared man. He was so dark and complex.

Zoe was a mafia princess trying to live away from her overprotective father. She was a valuable commodity who would never have an everyday life. Zoe had no illusions about her father's lifestyle, but she was determined to have Maddox. He was her childhood fantasy, but she was forbidden fruit until they were forced to spend time together alone, keeping her safe. Zoe was feisty and no shrinking violet. I loved that she was strong and sassy. It is a perfect mix of strength and submission. She loved to push Maddox’s buttons,but his punishments were harsh. I admired how Zoe stood up to her father and put their Maddox first.

I did not have a clue who was after Zoe or why, and when all of the pieces of the puzzle came together, no one was more surprised than me. It is the perfect ending to a perfect story.

Maddox Cormier aka The Boogeyman has been Zoe Thibodeaux, Arman’s daughter’s bodyguard for a while. She is temptation that he needs to resist. He knows that she is off limits but she is tempting him at every turn. Zoe has had a crush on Maddox for a while. She even told him about it. But he keeps ignoring her. When she comes home after her stay in NY, things go awry. Home is compromised and members of the family are attacked. When Arman directs Maddox to take Zoe away, things heat up with them. I give it to Maddox. That man stayed strong. He didn’t want to cross any lines between his friend Arman. But Zoe makes it really difficult to not be tempted. For Zoe, she is going to push him. She wants Maddox. She is tired of being ignored. She isn’t a little girl anymore. You have to give it to her. She is one tough cookie. Yes, she was trained by Maddox how to protect herself. Her fighting not only to get through Maddox but also what is following her. The passion these two have is hot and steamy. You have to love a man that talks dirty. I know I love that. I thought I knew who did what but I was totally off. There was more going on then any of us knew. And that dream Zoe had, I don’t know. Did that tell us something? The story was intense and shocking.

This is a wonderful forbidden twist revenge filled with best friend’s daughter themes I personally couldn’t get enough of it! With a hard past wiseguy does what he knows best which means protecting those he sees as family no matter what it cost. All Zoe wants is to show her independence in this big scary world but that’s a little difficult when you’re In a mafia family. Luckily she’s has the bogeyman on her side. These two characters are something else with knowing each other all their lives especially forced to be close together constantly it’s hard to keep the chemistry among other things from coming out in the open. As a threat comes they are put to the test along with trying to figure things out plus staying alive. Will these two headstrong starving for someone to see their true self and be okay with everything they see. This is a very action packed, steamy, suspenseful, spark driven, passionate, page turner read. With so much funny moments between the two main characters especially when they fighting so hard to not give in to their dark desires among all the danger going on around them! It reminds of enemies to lovers plus the already best friends daughter these themes are some are my favorites to read in books.:) I love this series can’t wait to see what else the amazing dark adventures Piper Stone will take us on in other book:). Epic ending too in this book too!

The Wiseguy is the third installment in the Savage Empire series penned by Piper Stone. In it she chronicles the romantic journey of Zoe Thibodeaux and Maddox Cormier. She is the daughter of Arman Thibodeaux, the Don of the Thibodeaux Crime Family. Maddox is Arman’s best friend and pseudo brother. He is also known as the Boogyman, the Enforcer. Nevertheless, both Zoe and Maddox are attracted to each other and have been for years. Now, she is a college graduate with a nursing degree and a concert pianist. Maddox discovers that there is an arranged marriage for Zoe and a threat against her. Realizing that he cannot let her be with anyone other than himself, Maddox casts aside the emotional shackles that kept him in check for years. Will he find out who is behind the threat Zoe faces? Will he keep her safe? Will they find happiness? To find out, you must read this captivating book.

Ms. Stone, once again, does an outstanding job u7tilizing literary devices. Her dialog, boh conversational and internal monologues are outstanding. Readers garner a better understanding of their character traits, their back stories, their pain, and their happiness. The lead characters are multi-dimensional. The secondary characters add interest and help to move this plot along. I liked the way she uses intrigue to enhance this character-driven romantic plot and capture her readers attention.

“The Wiseguy” is the third book in the Savage Empire series by Piper Stone. It’s an age-gap, father’s best friend, Mafia romance.

Zoe is a true Mafia princess, but she has tried to live her life as part of the real world as much as she can since she went away to college. Her long-time bodyguard, Maddox, is also her father’s closest friend and a trusted advisor. He is fiercely loyal to the family and she thinks he sees her as a child, despite the massive crush she has had on him for years. Little does she know that several years ago he started to see her as the beautiful woman she is, although of course he would never let her know it. When it suddenly becomes apparent that Zoe is in danger, Maddox becomes even more intense about keeping her safe – and the lines of propriety keeping them apart begin to blur.

This is an interesting story with multiple twists and turns. It kept my attention from the beginning until the very end. Once Zoe and Maddox are open about their feelings, the story gets extremely steamy, too. I enjoyed the ending very much, and look forward to seeing what comes next.

Have you been following Piper Stone's "Savage Empire" series"? Book three, 'The Wiseguy' has recently been released and it's all I was hoping for and more. Maddox Cormier, our Hero, is third in line within the family on top of being Arman's best friend and enforcer. He's also known as the Boogeyman for good reason. He's been with the family for so long that he's always been the only one to be the bodyguard of Arman's only child, Zoe. Zoe has always been a bit precocious, being raised as a Mafia Princess but her father also instilled in her the need to take risks once in a while and to live her life rather than hiding in the shadows. That small piece of life advice has put Zoe on a path of independence that her father has begrudgingly allowed … well, he did have Maddox in the shadows keeping an eye on her. This is an age-gap, mafia romance with domestic discipline involved. What a storyline! The twists and turns, the danger that seemingly comes out of nowhere, the mystery of who is involved and what they want, the open avenues of possibilities, and the push and pull of our Hero and heroine fighting their feelings for each other make this book near impossible to put down. This was a fantastic addition to the series and a great standalone read.

It was very exciting and thrilling reading Maddox and Zoe’s book. The Wiseguy is absolutely ASTOUNDING, from beginning to end. The chemistry between Maddox and Zoe is off the charts 🔥. The attraction to each other is undeniable, even though they know their union would cause between Maddox and his best friend Arman and Zoe’s father. The forbidden is what makes their story even more INTERESTING and PASSIONATE.
Unknown forces are trying to take Zoe away, but Maddox the consummate bodyguard will always do everything to protect this family and Zoe, at all cost.
Zoe has been sheltered all her life due to her family, but the boogeyman or the wiseguy has been the keeper of her heart and desires for a long time.

A fated romance with mega suspense that will have you turning the pages!
I feel for Maddox as he is tasked to keep an eye on Zoe, his boss’ daughter in her final weeks before graduating who is all grown up now. His plan to keep thoughts of what he would do with her out of his mind, just isn’t working. Zoe is a strong female protagonist who crushed on her bodyguard and dad’s right hand man since forever despite the sting he left on her when leaving for college. Zoe’s return home is met with a graduating party with 200 people but only one that she wants to see, Maddox. To say the meeting is cataclysmic is an understatement, but sets the stage for the evening, until all hell breaks loose. Maddox is not happy with being tasked to take Zoe to his beach hideaway, but follows orders. The atmosphere between the two is chilly until it becomes steamy, but danger is never far away. Will Maddox be able to keep Zoe safe when an unknown enemy is after them? You have to read to find out and don’t expect to put the book down until you turn the last page as there is no where to stop!

This is the story of Maddox Carmier "The Boogeyman" who is the right-hand man and best friend of Zoe's father as well as her longtime bodyguard. Zoe has had a huge crush on Maddox for as long as she could remember but for Maddox, he considered her just the child of his best friend until he realized what a beautiful woman she has bloomed into. He knows he cannot act on the feelings he has developed for her but as we all know, the body and mind know what the body and mind need and for Maddox, that is Zoe. There are mysteries, twists, turns, danger, secrets and eventually some hot sex and I was kept on the edge of my seat during each new event and throughout the book, we got more glimpses of Raven and Armon who were featured in the Kingpin which was a delight.

Amazing story that kept my interest until the last page

Maddox was Zoe bodyguard her entire life. He protected her with his life and to Zoe, he was her hero. When she went away to college, she stayed away from home because of her crush on her dad’s best friend and right hand man. He was the enforcer for the Thibodeaux crime family of New Orleans. When the family received a threat Maddox was sent to New York and protect Zoe before graduation. Maddox was also asked to take Zoe away after her graduation party was destroyed with violence and threats made on the family. He took her to his house on St. Barts where she tried to find the true Maddox whom she knew was a good man. This story shows that love has no age gap and was well written with a beautiful happy ending. The series Savage Empire is worth reading and discover the loves of the Thibodeaux men.

WOW, talk about action. This story is full of it from the very beginning until the end. There is never a dull moment and I was left waiting to see what would happen next. Danger is ever present in their world but now Zoe seems to be the center of its attention. There are numerous tense moments throughout the story but in the end things work out, unfortunately some times people end up dead. Maddox and Zoe eventually have the HEA finale but it does not come easy and it is full of danger from the most unexpected person. I absolutely loved 💕 the story and would highly recommend it as a great story to read. (P.S. fantastic looking cover)

OMG! Wow, I was absolutely astounded reading this book it was fantastic, the story was written well and the characters were absolutely sensational. This story was about Zoey a Mafia Princess and Maddox known as the boogeyman, Maddox had a hard life as a child he ended up getting picked up by a Mafia Boss and made him part of the family they already had a son so the two boys grew up together Maddox appreciated what they did for him. There were so many twists in this story that kept you thinking there was also the stalker was everywhere they looked, forbidden love, Protector, father's best friend, many more emotions throughout this book.

I totally loved this book, it was so well written and the characters were just perfect. I loved the storyline, but you totally saw the relationship between Zoe and Maddox coming. As there was a connection that you couldn’t ignore. Plus Zoe had had a crush on him for years. Therefore a totally give away. The storyline was so good had plenty of drama going on, I loved how Zoe tried to protect Maddox from her family. The moment in her Dad’s office was special, something I didn’t expect from her. I loved the interaction from the previous book characters. I enjoy reading about what they have been up too. Highly recommend.

Loved the amazing dual narration from Thomas Locklear and Scarlet Love, who brings the angst, drama, action and ohhh the steamy heat, all to your ears.

Zoe and Maddox have been attracted to each other for years. Zoe is talent with a nursing degree and is a concert pianist. It is then Maddox stops and lets his restraints go as he needs to find out who is behind the threats to Zoe .

So many twists and turns

This is book three of the series and features the vice president Maddox and the daughter of boss and lifelong friend Arman, named Zoe. Maddox, before his promotion, has been the protector of Zoe. Both of them felt a big attraction for the other but Maddox respected Arman too much to act on it. Zoe, however, kissed Maddox on her 18th birthday and she has not been the same since. Now Arman was pushing Maddox on Zoe for her own safety, without knowing their strong feelings. Arman’s forcing of the close proximity was destined to bring Maddox and Zoe together. But there is danger lurking around them waiting for the time to strike. This danger is playing tricks on all the parties involved. Read On!

What another great read. This is the third book of the series but can be read as a stand alone. This book pulled me in at the very beginning and never let me go. This book is full of action and has you constantly on the edge of your seat. There is never a dull moment. Zoe has been guarded by Maddox all her life. She is the daughter of his boss and best friend and is considered off limits. So Beautiful!

This seems like a love story,mafia style!Maddox is the right hand man and the best friend of Zoe's and c also considered a very close family.Zoe has had a crush on Maddox since her teen years but he knew he couldn't touch but that didn't, mean he could watch from afar and he did.Things started to heat up at the coming home party.Zoe's father is badly hurt and Maddox is told to get her out of the country and keep her safe,but Maddox is trying b to keep it professional but Zoe makes, very , hard, They think they are safe but they each have strange feelings like being watch and plus the island is going under hurricane warnings

She’s full of fire like her father the mob boss and doesn’t listen to him which earns her and spanking or 2 or 3. She thinks she is a capable, independent woman who can protect herself. Maddox is the most perfect imperfect man she knows. The sparks fly between them and they can’t fight it. There is an unknown menace hunting them all trying to extract revenge. This secret will kill. This book has explicit scenes and spanking. Check the trigger warnings. I recommend this book for dark mafia romance lovers.

Wiseguy had been brought up by the Mafia family since he was 11years old, he had suffered under the hands of his birth father who was serving time in prison and after spending some time on the streets, caught, rescued and eventually looked after and worked his way up within what he now considered his family but not blood related, over the years he had saved the life of the grandfather, his son who he treated like a brother, then his daughter whilst doing his job, he was also an enforcer for the family, totally bad arse and loyal. The family were going through a turbulent time finding it difficult to find out who was responsible.

Non-Stop Action!

The action starts quite quickly in this book and continues right through till the end. Even though this is an age-gap romance, the plot was so well done for this story. The author kept me guessing right till the end. Lots of suspense and mystery. I love the steamy heat between Zoe and Maddox. It was such it could not be ignored. Such an enjoyable story...probably my favorite of the three.

Good Ending to the Series

I enjoyed the characters and the mystery going on throughout. That being said, I'm done giving 5 stars to books and authors that consistently have errors that a good editor or even spell check will pick up when there are truly 5 star reads that have much less in the way of errors. I wish Amazon would allow half stars. I would have given this book 4.5 ⭐ but since I used my now old review system on the rest of the series I will leave this one at 5 stars instead of 4 based on Amazons current system.

The 3rd book in this series and it will keep your interest from page 1! Maddox is the 2nd to her father Arman (and happens to be his best friend) and happens to be older than Zoe. Zoe has had a crush on Maddox for as long as she can remember.

When trouble seems to find Zoe and her family, Maddox will do everything he can to protect the woman he has grown to love.

Twists and turns, suspense, and surprises will have you trying to figure out who is out to destroy the family Maddox calls his own.
