Happy & Resilient: The Complete Guide to Joyful Teaching, Learning, and Living

Rate this book
Well-being and resilience can be learned—by students and teachers!

Teaching is a deeply relational endeavor at its core, and we cannot be there for our students unless we are first emotionally available to ourselves. But that kind of well-being doesn’t just happen. It takes investing in our own happiness, resilience, and presence for us to flourish and become the kind of educators students can rely on—the kind that can help them flourish as well.

For over fifteen years, Roni Habib has used positive psychology to teach thousands of educators and leaders effective and rigorously studied practices for developing the types of thoughts, attitudes, and actions that allow us to thrive in life and to be top educators no matter what subject or grade level we teach. In Happy & Resilient, Roni shares practical ideas, skills, and exercises that will support your teaching in the classroom, your leadership at school, and your own well-being and resilience. Each chapter includes activities to use in the classroom with students or at school with your staff, journal prompts to deepen your reflection, and graphic organizers that recap the core exercises.

This book lays out a path for what all educators to be happy and resilient.

Happy and Resilient is a great book for anyone in education! I am a high school teacher, but could not only use this book in my own classroom- I could even pass it along to colleagues at the middle, elementary and preschool levels. I even discovered a few strategies and activities that I wanted to try with my own teens at home. Roni Habib does an incredible job interacting with readers online as well as packing his book full of ideas and extras through reflection questions and QR codes. I am really excited to try a number of the journal prompts. He has a tremendous amount of mindful practices that could be applied immediately to the classroom. The book is professional yet authentic and conversational. There were so many times that I was able to connect with the words on the page and feel seen. I appreciated this book for a number of reasons and have so many pages folded over! It is a great read and worth any educatorś time.

I don’t like that it feels as if the author is blaming teachers for their burnout. If feels as if he is saying if you just do this you will feel better. Also it is one big ad for the EQ schools with QR codes embedded throughout
