On the first day at my new high school, I'm targeted by the queen bee and her boyfriend. They're a head cheerleader and quarterback stereotypical power couple and beloved by everyone. After two years I'm pretty used to spending my days fighting off their attacks. But then my mother marries the quarterback's father and I have a new stepbrother. Suddenly he's looking at me differently, and despite calling me "little sister," our relationship is anything but familial. As for the queen bee, I'm finding myself locked in bathrooms and closets with her and despite her looking at me like the freak she's named me as, her tongue is down my throat. I had gotten used to their bullying, but the new form of their attentions has me grasping for control and wondering how to survive in this new reality. Even worse? Neither of them knows the other has taken a new interest in me. Pyramid Stunt is an FFM bully dark comedy romance with bi and kink awakenings and a why choose HEA. There are some dark elements so please heed the trigger warnings in the front of the book, or feel free to contact the author regarding any concerns.
Alex La Bruyere is an acquired taste, according to her wife. She’s also retired Navy, so if you're reading her books: congratulations, you're officially a patriot. From a young age, she was told she’d be a writer someday… although the people who said that probably weren’t expecting it to be this kind of material. She has a Bachelor’s in English, so she’s not only proudly embarrassing her family but her professors by using her degree to pen smut. She believes in hedonism and will absolutely recommend you take the day off to read that book you've been meaning to read. She’s originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but now lives in Orlando, Florida with her furry children, within driving distance of most of her partners. She wants you to live your best smutty life, whether that's through fiction or if it translates to the real world.
Pyramid Stunt incorporates some basic, overly used romance tropes to produce an original, compelling and unique novel that SHOULD NOT BE MISSED.
This is a bully, step-brother, enemies to lovers, why-choose FFM romance that has wit, offers moments of comedic relief and lots of heart.
I thoroughly enjoyed each characters rhetoric and the bookish elements that were contained within the pages. Also, Alex brings the heat in an entertaining as well as informative way to show that providing a safe space is possible and can remain sexy (desirable).
Peyton meets her bully, Heather along with Heather’s long time beau, Graham by smacking right into her in the hallway on her first day of school in a new town. The circumstances that force them together to begin the transformation from enemies to lovers are absolutely cliché but what follows afterward is absolutely delicious and sucks you in to devour this book.
There is a double bi-awakening which means this book depicts MF, FF, and FFM scenes. There is also CHEATING in this book, however it is committed between the main characters and pertinent to the storyline to propel it forward. If that isn’t something you can look past, this book isn’t for you and you shouldn’t engage with it just to provide a low rating and then post a review degrading it when you’ve been previously informed.
I applied to receive an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I think this may be the author's first book and I am so impressed!! Not only is it a wild, kinky ride, it is so well written and with thoughtful character development too. All three main characters have layers and depth to them. And the dialogue is crisp and sucks you in.
Just a note that not only do the characters in this book have depth and are intense, so are the trigger warnings, so just make sure to check them out. And if you're cool with them, you're going to devour this!!
It was so easy to read and enjoy. The spicy scenes are top notch and the bi-awakening, ff romance is something I hope we see more of. Can't wait to see more from this author!
I really enjoyed reading about the chemistry all three of them had.
Background~ Graham is a football player Heather is a popular head cheerleader Peyton is the new girl
Heather and Graham are together. They are the popular couple. Peyton is the new girl, so heather decides to target her and bully her.
It takes place when Peyton first comes to the school and bumps into heather. Peyton makes her books drop but does not pick them up. Heather calls over graham and makes him throw her into garbage.
Skip to two years and Peyton’s mom and grahams dad get together!! So they are now step siblings.
Fucktoy/little sister is Peyton. Baby boy is graham. Pretty girl is heather.
So it’s starts of with them moving in together and then graham and Peyton get together while he was still with heather.
So G and H decide to break up because they are seeing other people even though it is P. When they finally find out everything works out.
I love H, I love how she tried to figure out who so really is. Like she did not want to be this popular cheerleader that everyone sees her as. When she came out it made Peyton so excited because that what she wanted to do.
It was really good. I got into it super fast it was so good. And spicy. Definitely recommend to anyone that likes MFF

I couldn't put this book down, it was soo good. I really thought going in that the TW cheating would be an issue for me but the way it was done wasn't bad. You could tell that the characters struggled with the idea of it. What I didn't like was that Heather took a break while she figured her stuff out but Graham was still going about business.
It was a good book of getting to know themselves which I really liked. Peyton might have been more of the submissive in the book but she really was the one that brought them together I liked her battiness. I wonder if her submissiveness was almost groomed into her by her bullies, this was something in the back of my mind but something very interesting, because she didn't seem like she was into anyone else. Graham really stepped up and took care of the ladies, which wasn't something I would expect so quickly in the book. Heather surprised me a little bit, she fell harder than I thought but she was good with keeping the calmness of the group and forcing them into conversations they really needed.
I liked how pushy Peyton's mom was about everything else in her life like college and the ball, but when it came to experimenting and living her life how she wanted to she was totally cool and open about it.
Hiding because I don't know if people would consider spoilers but want to be on safe side.

Oh. My. First off please check the trigger list, if any of it is not appealing this book is not for you. Now that that’s out of the way… this book was good. Once I started it, I could not stop. Peyton, Heather and Graham. Heather and Graham are dating in the beginning of the story. They are the it couple, the power couple of school. Along comes Peyton to throw a wrench in their lives. Peyton ends up sneaking around with both Heather and Graham, without the two knowing. Graham is her step brother and that does become a dynamic in their relationship. Heather goes on a journey to discover more about herself when she becomes obsessed with Peyton but can only seem to show it while bullying her. Our characters go through a lot, but it’s worth it in the end.
You can tell when an author has done their due diligence to the genre they write in. Alex absolutely knocked it out the park. A home run! The amout of details down to the different types of aftercare is absolute perfection. The characters were very dynamic and multi layered, they overcame some pretty big challenges and it ends on a HEA! 5/5 stars.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I am honored to have been able to read this story in advance, and everything given is my own opinion.
Where do I start??!! Graham, Peyton and Heather have such a good dynamic. As a trio and individual couples as well. The compassion and thought that forms between both Graham and Heather in their relationship with Peyton had me squealing and swooning. Alex leads you through three people discovering their tastes and desires with each other, as well as learning new things about themselves as a result. The spice definitely spices, but the sweet moments are just as amazing and pull everything into a nicely rounded story. While it is a bullies to lovers romance, there isn’t a lot of angst to draw everything out. Since the action starts fairly early on in the story, you get more time for the redemption and Graham and Heather’s feelings to come across as genuine. Meanwhile, Peyton is witty, funny and relatable the entire time. Slowly growing into her confidence and comfort zones as the story progresses. If there is such a thing as a cozy-kinky bully romance, then this is it. The content list is wonderful and kept me wiggling in excitement with each item that appeared
I am beyond honoured to introduce to you all the first debut novel I have read this year, and it turned out to be absolutely amazing.
The writing in this book is exceptional, thoughtful, and the character development is top-notch. The story itself is multi-layered, deep, and intense, filled with intriguing details that keep you hooked from start to finish.
The story kicks off with Peyton unexpectedly running into her bully, Heather, and Graham, Heather's long-time boyfriend, on the first day of school in a new town. Despite the cliched circumstances that bring them together, what follows is a captivating journey from enemies to lovers that will have you devouring every page.
I particularly loved how the characters were on a journey of self-discovery throughout the book. Peyton, despite her submissive nature, is the one who ultimately brings them together with her unique personality. I found myself pondering if her submissiveness was a result of the bullying she endured, adding an interesting layer to her character. Graham's surprising role as a caretaker was unexpected yet endearing, while Heather's evolution from a tough exterior to a vulnerable romantic was a pleasant surprise.
Each character's dialogue and interactions were captivating, and the incorporation of bookish elements added an extra layer of enjoyment. Author's portrayal of creating a safe and sexy space was both entertaining and informative, making the story even more engaging.
Overall, this debut novel is a must-read, filled with captivating characters, complex relationships, and a story that will stay with you long after you finish the last page.
Everything changes when my mother marries my bully's father
I liked the majority of this, it's excellent for a debut novel, there were a few times when things were over-explained but I never had confusion because of bad or brief writing. One pet peeve I have is trigger warning lists that kinda downplay events, the MMC fully rapes the FMC. The TW list does say non-con, I just feel that putting it as non-con kinda makes it as small and as dismissive as possible, it's listed in the middle alongside kinks and whatnot. The other thing is high schoolers doing BDSM, not cool not cute, and definitely dangerous. For the most part, I liked it, it was hot, and it was kinda of a classic bully romance + stepbrother romance.
C/Ws: Cheating seriously they are all cheating on each other with each other, RAPE by MMC to FMC, internalised homophobia, a tiny bit of external homophobia, bullying, neglectful parents, impact play, highschoolers doing BDSM
Spice: FFM, incest kink (they are stepsiblings and call each other big brother/little sister) snowballing, praise and degradation, fisting, edging, impact play, restraints, strap-on, pegging, Eiffel tower, DP, choking, primal, D/s
Read Again: probably not, just isn't my usual thing
Recommend: for someone who wants all the other woman drama
Notes: Check TWs and CWs. This book isn't for everyone. (NonCon, Cheating, etc) But with that said...it was definitely for me. :) With that said...I'm not the best at writing reviews! :p
***Be prepared for a wild ride of emotions and...other such things...should you pick up this book***
For a debut novel, Alex's book has so many layers. They're hidden behind humor, refreshing honesty, and difficult topics. In all...Pyramid Stunt is the story of three 18-year-olds working to figure out their identities, not only for their future careers but their relationships, while together and apart. Navigating tricky feelings and being honest with oneself.
On the surface level, it's a tab00/er0tica romance book. But dive beneath the layers to see what this debut author has to offer as a new voice in the genre. The ANGST. The DRAMA. One of my favorite parts of the book is It's early 2000's TV/movie-coded theme(s). Think Gossip Girl. Mean Girls. Hellcats. BUT SPICIER. MF. FF. FFM. And I live for all of the combinations.
I keep returning to moments in the book at random times throughout the day. And that is often the ear-mark of a good book to me....one that you can't get out of your mind.
This book is a lot. It’s messy, unfiltered, and completely unhinged in the best way possible. The characters? A disaster. The relationships? Toxic, twisted, and impossible to look away from. It’s high school, but not the kind you remember—more like a CW show turned up to eleven, where cheer captains rule like queens and football players get away with murder (sometimes literally). Peyton is sharp, angry, and completely over it, which makes it all the more maddening when she gets dragged into a power struggle she never asked for. And Graham? A walking red flag, but you can’t stop watching him.
The writing is raw, fast, and dripping with tension. The story doesn’t ask for permission—it just grabs you by the throat and drags you under. If you like your romance dark, your characters morally bankrupt, and your books to make you feel a little unclean in the best way possible, Pyramid Stunt delivers.
Not for the faint of heart, but if you get it, you get it.
I don't think I have enough words in my entire vocabulary to put into a coherent review of exactly how much I loved this book and was impressed by it's wonderfulness. There are really rare occasions where I sit down to compose my review and I think to myself that I just want to do a good job because this is a book that deserves SOOOOO MUCH HYPE. This book had such incredible characters that make you go from extreme hate and disgust with their actions to fully supporting a relationship with people you once found absolutely despicable. When authors can write a book that not only teaches about identity and understanding the kink community, but can also make you feel a whole host of emotions--that's the kind of author that I want to keep reading books from! I received an advance review copy from BookSirens for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Pyramid Stunt is a perfect book but is not for everyone. Please check your trigger warnings before reading. This has a lot of noncon in it that leads to more between the characters.Bi-awakening and poly, there is FF,FM and FFM. As much spice as there is in the book, there is plenty of plot. All three of the MC have depth and intensity. You’ll love Peyton from the beginning, Heather and Graham maybe not so much. The author does an amazing job of letting us know that all the characters have their own internal demons they are fighting. Enemies to lovers, bully romance, this really was a great book. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
Just kidding! For a self published debut novel that’s niche and covering the bases for FFM that the romance genre is lacking: GOLD STAR!
I squirmed, I sweated, and I laughed. I also felt personally attacked by all the millennial references in it hahaha
I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Check TW, and go in for a good time and good writing! It’s not supposed to be groundbreaking or serious. It’s supposed to transport you to a story you want to revisit over and over as an escape. And Graham, Peyton, and Heather definitely make me want to revisit over and over again and again. 💜💜
Alex's book follows a young polycule through their sexual awakening and more as they embrace kink and pansexuality while grappling with living in the Bible Belt.
As a reader who enjoys character driven plots and well developed personalities, I was NOT disappointed.
It was definitely a four star read with a five star spice rating.
Check your triggers and remember to be aware of your own privilege.
This book mostly hits all the beats you would expect it to. I didn't expect it to delve into the technical details of BDSM. My main issue with it was that there was not much conflict after a certain point in the story and everything went a bit too smoothly for my liking, especially with the .
Also, I am not a fan of bullies being given a pass because their bullying meant something else subconsciously.
Overall, Pyramid Stunt was okay! It definitely took me on a ride with some things I wasn't expecting. I personally feel the relationship between the bullies and the FMC could of developed more into a healthier relationship. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
FFM. Angst. Self Discovery. Step-Siblings. Acceptance. Finding that missing piece. This book has a place in my heart.
It had me screaming! It warmed my heart. I devoured this book in a day. I stayed up way to late just to keep reading. It was delicious and I absolutely loved it!
This was my first one with an FF element and I have to admit I loved it. The story was absolutely incredible and you could feel the conflict of the main characters emotions and feelings. It wasn’t an easy road but they go there!
Yes, I read the content warning. I've read all that (books with said warnings and am not new to CNC or non-con) but the r@pe scene before the story even really got started was too much for me. I already hate the main male character, so there's no point continuing.
Ugh. I am so conflicted with how I feel about this book. The story was good and some of the characters dynamics. However, the dialogues were a little cringe at times, it felt like a wattpad story. The 🌶️ was pretty good can’t deny it.
Heather deserved better even though she was a bully. She broke up with graham when she had thoughts of someone else while Peyton and Graham cheated for months, that’s wild. Peyton was not fierce she was a doormat for dick.
