When an arrogant demon with a taste for the finer things meets a salty chef with an attraction to fire, sparks fly.
Sofia, a talented chef whose culinary dreams have flamed out, is spending her holiday season hiding away in a cabin atop Mout Winter Bliss until her solo retreat is disrupted by the arrival of Samite, a maddeningly pretentious demon. Sofia is no stranger to facing down big egos in the kitchen. With plenty of salt and steely resolve, she sets the ground rules and strikes her first bargain with a demon.
Samite, a demon whose business ambitions have been dashed, finds himself stranded atop Mount Winter Bliss at the mercy of an infuriatingly unhelpful human. He is hell-bent on escaping this mountain, and she would gladly whip him up a swift exit except for one major obstacle. An avalanche has buried the only road down the mountain, trapping them together. Their initial clash ignites a simmering tension, and as they navigate the close quarters of her tiny one-bedroom cabin, more bargains are struck, and the heat continues to rise.
In Holidays Ablaze, indulge in the sizzling spice of Sofia and Samite's fiery encounter against the backdrop of a blissfully snowy mountain. Two opposites, plus snarky banter, grudging respect, and a sprinkling of 'yes, chef' add fuel to the fire.🔥Horned up for the Holidays is a series of three steamy, same-world, stand-alone novellas. Download today and escape to Winter Bliss.
I had to DNF this at 30%, no rating. I could not connect with this book at all. The hero’s pov was just weird horny inner monologues about her nipples and she was fixated on weird food combinations and recipes(she’s a chef). Before they even establish any kind of connection they jump right in to sexy times. It felt odd. They barely knew each other and he was determined to pay off a debt and it was so transactional. It gave me the ick.
The last book in this series was so cozy and such a slow burn, this one had totally different vibes. I think the authors should have had a more cohesive game plan for this series.
This was my favorite of the three books in the Winter Bliss series! I feel that Samite embodied more of the true demon characteristics and Sofia’s steely nature only made it that much better. The more they tried to push each other, the closer it brought them together. 🤣 And they’re bargaining throughout the book? It only added fire (had to!) to the spice and that spice HIT. If you’re looking for a cute but steamy holiday romance, please please PLEASE check this one out!
When I first saw this series on my goodreads page I knew I wanted to read it. Cute, fluffy and spicy christmas romances between a human and a demon? Yes, please. And I wasn’t disappointed, this book was just as cute as the first one.
The setting is a small town called Winter Bliss and its surroundings. Every book in this series features a different couple.
‘Holiday Ablaze’ reminds me remotely of the movie ‘Overboard’ with Goldiw Hawn and Kurt Russel. Samite is a rich demon, who’s more into his business than anything else and Sofia is a heartbroken chef, who lives in the mountains of Winter Bliss to get over her failed nearly-restaurant. They meet when Samite is thrown out of a helicopter. Due to an avalanche he can’t go back into town and has to earn his keep with Sofia.
The story was cute and cozy, we saw some spicy scenes between the characters and it was a fun and quick read. I liked the characters and their romance.
I also really enjoyed the friendship between Holly, Samite and Noelle. The interaction between them showed especially how much Samite had grown during this book. I wished we would have seen more of them together.
I am loving the holiday novellas of the Horned Up for the Holidays books, and Holidays Ablaze is a fantastic read!
Samite is a very proper demon in all ways, including the art of deal making. Sofia is a talented chef who has retreated to her family's cabin on Mount Bliss to lick her wounds after a relationship gone wrong. When she rescues Samite in the snow, she discovers they couldn't be more opposite. But sometimes attraction burns anyways, and Sofia has always been attracted to fire.
This opposites attract, forced proximity romance is a steamy holiday read! Sofia and Samite can't seem to decide if they want to argue or want to fall in bed with each other, they just know they enjoy both. Add in the demons penchant for making deals, and the story heats up quickly.
There is also a lot of tenderness beneath their hard exteriors, and I really enjoyed the way they supported each other while not asking the other to change. These are two people who know what they want and work to create a true partnership based on love and support.
This is a perfect holiday read for anyone who loves demon romance, deals, arguments that lead to love, and lots of spicy fun!
3.5 stars Samite was such an arrogant prick and I loved that. They had off the charts chemistry and cozy snowed in vibes. The whole “everything is a bargain” thing got a little old though. Repetitive.
Spice: 4/5
Triggers: references to burn injuries, scar-related insecurity, fall from a helicopter
"I wouldn't have said I had a 'thing' before, but now I know I do. It's naked demons starting fires in my kitchen."
Samite is such a snarky snob but with the perfect amount of charm. And Sofia is just as snarky. I loved every bit of their banter throughout the whole book. "And now he knows that if he gets salty with me, I'm going to get salty right back. Samite is exactly how I like my MMCs to be - smug and charming and sexy.
The spice was HOT (who knew "yes, chef" could be so sexy). 🌶️🌶️🌶️ The ending was a bit different than the other two in this series. But I think it fit perfectly for these characters and their personalities.
Perfect, spicy holiday read! I wish I could go back and read it for the first time again.
This is perfection. I love Sofia and Samite so much I just want to follow them around and get their updates in life 🤗 Humor, heat, heart is what this book is made of. I can’t wait to read more from Lucy Limón.

Authors Lark Green, Lucy Limón, and Catrina Bell teamed up to write a set of holiday books! A Winter Bliss Romance series features 3 standalone novels set in the same town around Christmas! These books are sweet, cozy, emotional, and full of love! They all get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me!
I’m such a sucker for holiday books! This is my favorite time of year and I’m so happy these books came out! They’re all amazing on their own, but the fact they’re intertwined via the town is amazing! I love when authors come together and collaborate on things like this. Bravo to you guys! I hope there’s more in the future! We need more hunky monsters under the Christmas tree 🫠…

A demon falls out of a helicopter onto a frozen lake as a human woman is on her snowmobile...
Samite thinks he is down on his luck after a deal goes out the window. Luckily for him, Sophia was around to help him take shelter.
After being burnt by an ex-business partner, she spends her time nursing her wounds while whipping up sizzling meals.
Trapped because of the weather, both of them decide to make the most of it and play a few games of bargains. Except the biggest bargain of it all might just be their hearts.
I absolutely loved this book. I mean Samite is Astarion coded and he was such a joy to read about. Sophia is the kind of character I want to be best friends with. She has the heart and soul, not to mention incredible cooking skills. I'm absolutely enamoured by them and I don't truly know how I'm meant to move on from them.
This was my first Lucy Limón book, but it definitely won't be my last.
This one was so, dare I say it, firey! So good. Samite and Sofia meet when he's thrown from a helicopter and lands on her lake. She goes to rescue the demon stranger, who she quickly learns is completely fine and completely sassy.
Making deals for food and lodging leads to some fantastic, firey sex that neither of them expected. As they both approach it with a time limit, they both learn that they'd really rather it not have to end. Dealing with the snowstorm that's closed down the only road out of the mountain gives them both time to consider what they want for their futures, and from each other.
I first want to say thank you to Lucy Limón for an ARC copy of this book! With that said, my review is completely voluntary and honest! This book was so spicy and fiery and wonderful! This follows Sofia, a fantastic chef who is down on her luck after a business deal turned sour. She has isolated herself away in her family’s cabin until the new year to give herself some time and space! Like a rocket, Samite shots unexpectedly into her domain and brings with him some seriously sexy, spicy and fiery banter! This was so incredible and I loved every minute!
This book was smoking hot! The heat between Sofia and Samite is scorching and I loved every minute of it. When an avalanche blocks the road to town, Sofia has no choice but to let Samite stay in her small cabin until the roads clear. As they explore the attraction for each other, they find many ways to pass the time together. Tropes: power dynamic, snowed-in, forced proximity, one bed, face your fears, don’t give up
This short steamy read captivated me from the start; I want a demon to fall from the sky and 🍆 me into oblivion 😩
Just like beastly and bookish i wish there was more detail. I also wasn’t thrilled of the backtracking in character plots. He reaches town and then it jumps back a few days to her pov and it threw me for a loop. I understand these are novellas but dang I want moreee !
**ARC** This book was the perfect ending to a beautifully written series. I definitely already had an idea about Samite but was NOT expecting the story that came along with him. I couldn't have imagined a better story for Sophia and Samite and I'm so glad this was how the series ended, perfectly in time for the holidays!
A fiery love story that will give you all the feels and leave you hungry for more from this author! As well as hungry for food 😂 I loved the idea of the FMC being a chef, she and the MMC were the ideal fit! These two could set the sheets ablaze 😉 The world building was awesome too, transporting the reader to a winter wonderland. I want to book a holiday in Winter Bliss now 😁
Ohhhh Lucy, Lucy, Lucy.. how could you write such a cute book? I would recommend reading this book with someone like my sister and I did. We fell in love. Simple. I love fantasy because when the MMC falls out of an airplane onto a frozen pond you don't even blink. It just is what it is and that's exactly how the FMC responded. I also didn't know cooking could be so sexy.... but the author did such a good job of sharing the story of these two characters in such a short book. I will be reading any and all books by this author.
I love this little world and all the characters in it! We saw Samite in Beastly and Bookish so it's nice to see the story of him and Sophia! Great little holiday story.
The characters in this story are so vibrant, especially the fiery latina FMC Sofia! Her fire is the perfect match for demon, Samite. It was so fun and steamy to watch their story ignite. The world building, plot, and character development was on point and the spice was perfectly integrated. This was such a well done novella (which is hard to find tbh, with shorter books!). I highly recommend it in general, but especially for those of us who need short, sweet, and SPICY palate cleansers in between longer/darker reads.
Oh. My. Goodness. I'm surprised my kindle didn't go up in flames due to the heat between Sofia and Samite's sexual tension. Sofia's sass was fantastic, and I love how she brought down Samite's ego several notches. Let's be honest: dude deserved the wrath of the chancla at least once.
Loved this sweet and fiery opposites attract story!
*I received a copy of the book from the author, but my review is entirely voluntary and honest.
I received an ARC from the author, and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.
This is another wonderfully executed novella.
I adore Sofia as an FMC, she has a whole journey of being self conscious about her physical "defects", and evolves into a confident woman, who knows what she wants. The descriptions of her while she's cooking always bring me vivid images of what's going on in that kitchen. I thought it would bore me to read descriptions of these tasks, but I was thankfully wrong about this.
Samite is a privileged demon who is stranded and gets to appreciate living temporarily without his usual amenities. Please make a deal with that man for another cashmere sweater/shirt/I-don't-remember-what-it-was. Seeing him evolve through this book was a joy. How he has no brain-to-mouth filter is very refreshing. He wants to do all the things to her, but it's also very important to him that Sofia is on the same wavelength as him, and wants him as much as she does.
The end is where I partially struggled. I will hide this part due to third act spoilers.
I love that they chose to have a period to date and visit each other, not jumping straight into a whole thing. Apart from the aforementioned issues, this was very very nice. I also like that these stories are basically all happening at the same time!
Yes Chef Will Never Be The Same Gleeful Goblin Review: As someone who recently ended a 9 year relationship where I was taken advantage of financially, emotionally, and cheated on leaving me feeling very similar to this opening scene....I was hooked from the start: "A second later, a helicopter bobs over the tree line. Its spinning blades chop the air as it speeds my way, then comes to a stop. It hovers only meters away. They’re lost. The Emberlight Resort is the next peak over on Mount BZB, a luxury destination with a five-star hotel, powdery ski slopes, a flashy casino, and most importantly, a helipad. This mountain, Mount Winter Bliss, has none of that. I’d try waving them east, but I doubt they can see me through the dense trees. I’m about to dismiss the helicopter and its directionally challenged pilot when a person falls out the side. ¡Dios mío! I gasp, my hand clamping over my mouth. Through the trees, I see the body hit the frozen lake. An ominous thud shudders across the snowy landscape. I don’t know if it’s real or imagined, but I swear I hear the crunch of bones on impact. My next thought? I hope it’s Ryan. Morbid, I know, and if I were a better person, I’d immediately dismiss it. But I hold on to the thought, breathing in the dark joy and sweet catharsis of imagining the man who destroyed my future falling to his death. I suck it in, then exhale and let it go......It’s not Ryan. That much is obvious before I reach the edge of the frozen shore. There’s no reason it would be, but I’m mildly disappointed, nonetheless. How do I know? Ryan is not a demon (just a fucking asshole), and the man lying flat on his back is one." MOOD SOFIA, MOOD.
I was looking for something different. Monster romance is new to me, so I wasn´t sure what to expect from this. But it was something diferent, so I decided to give this book a try.
The cover was nicely done, even if a bit busy. I liked the map at the beginning. I´m a world builder and I love a good map, so a little map of the area where the story take place appealed to me. The illustration at the begin of each chapter was a nice touch.
I had a good laugh at `I hope it´s Ryan´ even though I had no idea who Ryan was. :D In fact, I liked the humor throughout the book. So, Ryan errr… I mean Samite acts like a pompous idiot, but he´s a funny one, especially when he´s grumpy lol. He´s not easily impressed, but apparently, the kitchen did it for him. Which is good, considering Sofia is a chef. And a 6-course meal as foreplay is a nice deal, as far as I´m concerned. ;)
It was nice to see him slowly change over the course of the story, to discover the characters´ stories, and to watch their relationship evolve too.
My favorite parts? The evening at the bonfire, and the scene when he discovers her scars.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It´s got spicy romance, of course, but it´s also steeped in modern fantasy… the sexy demon variety type, with a set of rules that stay in the forefront and elevate the story a notch. It never forgets there´s a demon in the story.
The writing flowed well and kept me interested, with a good ratio of dialogues and descriptions, a feast for the senses. Nothing boring at all, I drank in every word. This book was my first foray into monster romance, and it set the bar high. It felt alive in my head.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
