A Winter Bliss Romance

Holly's Unjolly Christmas

Rate this book
Just because she’s snowed in with a monster doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy herself a little…or a lot…

Holly loves people. But that doesn’t mean she wants to be around any over the holidays. So, booking an isolated cabin on top of idyllic Mount Winter Bliss is exactly the escape from reality she needs. It’s just her crappy luck that the rental comes with a grumpy, sexy demon groundskeeper—and that an avalanche strands them there. Together…

Azgoran wants nothing to do with people. And since renters who are willing to traipse across dangerous terrain are in short supply, avoiding humans isn’t usually a problem. Until she shows up. Holly is far too tiny, talkative, and…adorable for him. But for some reason, knowing all that doesn’t make it any easier to keep his mind—and hands—off her…

The only thing these opposites have in common is forced proximity and a big attraction. Is that enough to get them to happily ever after? Or are they destined for the most unjolly Christmas ever?

Holly’s Unjolly Christmas is a spicy, slightly angsty, contemporary holiday romance novella featuring a reclusive hero with lumberjack vibes and a heroine who puts the sunshine in grumpy/sunshine.

Horned up for the Holidays is a series of three steamy, same-world, stand-alone novellas. Download today and escape to Winter Bliss.

3.5 stars. Who knew that demons liked coffee? And I never knew that demons had horns on their heads so that ladies can properly sit on their faces and have proper safety handles. This book opened my already perverted mind to many more possibilities out there. Now Mrs. Topside is a huge fan of the Hallmark holiday movies and this was very comparable…just with a demon and a divorcee…and there was actual nookie, too. Not just the insinuation of it, but actual nookie. Full-on demon on human nookers. And it was goo..oo…oood. Now our resident demon, Az, isn’t just a big, burly, sexy lumberjack. He also is a multimillionaire and went to medical school, and he’s packing one helluva battering ram, too. That’s what we girls call the hat trick. Oh, and I almost forgot that he’s emotionally vulnerable, too. That Holly is one lucky gal. And I loved how it even ended mid-sex, too. Lots of plot points not explored fully, but, again, as long as a book like this is steamy and gets ya goin,’ does anything else matter? Just a silly, fun romp in the holiday romance arena.

We love demon lumberjacks that go to therapy and tell our sweetest FMC to stop people pleasing and start being more selfish, aren't we?
A spicy and sweet yet surprisingly deep christmas novella.
I love all this mental health talk - especially in the Romance Genre - the representation is so important.

Thank you for trusting me with an ARC - I really enjoyed your novella 🖤

Short, cute, paranormal.

I had no revolutionary expectations for this book, which is 100% the right way to enter reading this book. I love a cute and smutty story and this adds just a perfect dash of Christmas to the mix. I will definitely check out the author for more of their books.

Our cast of characters is small and isolated. Set on the top of a mountain in a cabin that for some reason is rented out by the room. I had to suspend my disbelief that Holly wouldn’t have done her due diligence on the listing on Airbnb or equivalent platform. She came to the cabin with the intention of isolating herself away from Christmas. She just went through a lackluster but heartbreaking divorce. Sadly she didn’t get to keep her mother-in-law in the separation and is experiencing what I would describe as child abandonment.

Az is a demon. I really liked how we kinda were just thrown into a world were demons are normally everyday aspects of life. With established traditions and medical practices. Az has been through a lot of shit and is deeply traumatized. I know if we had met his parents or b*tch ex on the page, I would have wanted to crawl through my Kindle and deck them. I love how he really wants to annoy Holly, but then discovers her kindness and instead looks out for her. He’s very Holly first .

3.5 stars

I initially got an ARC copy after publication via Book Sirens in exchange for an honest review, but found it on Kindle Unlimited so I read it over there. I would have picked it up exclusively on Kindle had I realized, but I am happy I read this nonetheless!

When I first saw this series on my goodreads page I knew I wanted to read it. Cute, fluffy and spicy christmas romances between a human and a demon? Yes, please. And I wasn’t disappointed, this book delivers what was promised.

The setting is a small town called Winter Bliss and its surroundings. Every book in this series features a different couple. In this one, we follow Holly and Az. After some personal changes she wants to spend Christmas alone and books a secluded cabin, but the cabin comes with a grumpy demon groundskeeper. After an avalanche the two are forced to spend time together.

This book has some of my favorite tropes with forced proximity leading the way. I loved the characters and their chemistry. It was so much fun to watch them get to know each other and slowly open up. They seemed to complete and complement each other's personalities.

I fell in love with Winter Bliss and can’t wait to spend more reading time there.

"Why do you think the goddess of darkness gifted me with horns on my head, if not for beautiful women like yourself to hold on to while they sit on my face?"

This book was amazing. From start to finish. I was hooked from the first line -- "All I want for Christmas is to be alone." Same, Holly.

Az was the perfect "lumberjacked", grumpy mmc. But he's such a cinnamon roll. And the things that come out of his mouth....🥵 Holly was fun to read, too. Her inner monologue about wanting to have happy fun times with Az was hilarious. "Yes, I like-like him. I'd like-like to see him naked, and I'd like-like to feel his body pressed against mine."

Grab this book for a spicy, cozy holiday vibes read! And after reading you'll want to find a mountain to climb so you can find your own Az.

3.5

This book had a lot of potential but not the best follow through IMO.
Holly was in a bit of a crisis after divorcing her man child husband and losing her support system. Az was in a prolonged state of depression and isolation after losing his support system as well. Luckily, this didn’t turn into a completely codependent relationship, since Holly still had an effort to connect with others. As for Az, we don’t know if he’ll come to have meaningful relationships with anyone other than Holly.

Spice: 3.5/5

Triggers: child abandonment (off page), mental illness

Another beautifully done novella 🫶🏻

Seriously, all three of these books are so beautifully done in their own ways and I adore them. So so grateful to be able to ARC read them, bc they were FANTASTIC!

This story follows Az and Holly, a grumpy lumberjack of a demon who’s main goal in life is to avoid civilization and buy the run down cabin in the woods of his little hermit dreams, and a recently divorced teacher, who rents said cabin after it’s advertised as a luxury holiday getaway.

A run down cabin with an outhouse and no shower with a live in grumpy groundskeeper set on forcing her to give the place a low review? What could possibly go wrong?

Sparks fly, banter ensues, and the spice is 🙌🏻
(Check triggers, this was the “darkest” of the three)

Watching the relationship between Az and Holly blossom was so adorable. I loved that she was able to get him to face his past and question his future, and how he was able to get her to realize she didn’t need to please everyone and that it was okay for her to be selfish sometimes and put herself first.

All in all it was one of the best reads for me and I am so sad that I’ve devoured all 3 of these 🥹

10/10 would recommend to my therapist.

This was an unexpected read this month as well after someone else talked about it. I’m really glad I picked it up though and will happily continue with the series, which I think has a different author for each novella. The story felt well developed for being so short and I loved how sweet the demon turned out to be. There was good detail for both the characters as well as the world building. The one thing that didn’t really work for me though, which is disappointing since I love this part so much usually, was the spice. The spicy scenes felt so rushed and without a good flow. I thought they were just getting started when she was already having an orgasm. What? I almost would’ve been happier with fade-to-black here and I’ve never said that before.

I love this whole series equally but Holly is probs the character I most related to down to the big, dopey brown eyes lol (minus blonde hair but I wanna be blonde lol). She was my twin and I just imagined Pedro Pascal as Az hehehe :)

“Holly’s Unholly Christmas” is the perfect combination of classic hallmark coziness and some contemporary (and steamy!) monster romance that will leave you warm, comforted and satisfied this festive season! It is also part of a trio of books released as interconnected standalones!

The characters of Holly and Azgoran are both complex, vivid and engaging (which is a pleasant surprise considering the novella is on the shorter side) — and both have enough depth to make you fall in love with both of them and their individual character flaws and positives. And together? They are just so WHOLESOME and beautifully counterbalanced for each other.

The spice is AMAZING! There is a tiny bit of some sizzling “slow burn” to make it even more fulfilling when they actually “do the deed” — and when I say it’s HOT…it’s simple SCORCHING (pun entirely intended here considering Az runs on the hotter side haha). I also really enjoyed the build up with some play that isn’t solely penetrative focused — and not just him pleasing her, but her pleasing him too! Which is very refreshing to see!

And I just HAVE to mention the little “roleplay” scene because WOW WOW WOW it will leave you with some flushed cheeks for SURE!

Even though this book is fairly “cozy” with the vibes, there are a few themes in it that are a little more deeper than just lighthearted romance. Though, nothing is incredibly detailed and a lot of the themes are historical (with exception for the roleplay, which IS detailed on page and is entirely consensual).

━━ † ━━

⚔️TRIGGER LIST⚔️

— Explicit sex scenes
— CNC roleplay (fully consensual on both sides)
— Mentions of divorce
— Mental health representation and struggles
— Mentions of family struggles and trauma
— Very mild somnophilia elements

━━ † ━━

“Holly’s Unjolly Christmas” is an utterly DELIGHTFUL read that I thoroughly enjoyed! It’s got the heat, the coziness, the romance, slight angst and an HEA that makes everything worth it in the end. I would recommend this for anyone — both those who are longtime readers of monster romance as well as newbies to the genre and who want to dip their toes into something that isn’t too “full on”. A perfect festive read! 5/5 stars!

Authors Lark Green, Lucy Limón, and Catrina Bell teamed up to write a set of holiday books! A Winter Bliss Romance series features 3 standalone novels set in the same town around Christmas! These books are sweet, cozy, emotional, and full of love! They all get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me!

I’m such a sucker for holiday books! This is my favorite time of year and I’m so happy these books came out! They’re all amazing on their own, but the fact they’re intertwined via the town is amazing! I love when authors come together and collaborate on things like this. Bravo to you guys! I hope there’s more in the future! We need more hunky monsters under the Christmas tree 🫠…

I will forever appreciate authors who put trigger/content warnings at the beginning of the book!

This wasn’t super focused on Christmas but does have a very cute scene of the two main characters decorating a tree. The story was very cute while also having the characters deal with past issues. I would’ve liked a bit more of an epilogue but I’m also happy with the way it ended.

Thank you to the publisher, author and BookSirens for an advance copy of this book.

This was one jolly love story 😄 I enjoyed it from beginning to end! The grumpy x sunshine trope worked so well here, and the main couple were adorable together. Their sexy times were 🥵🥵🥵 The setting of Winter Bliss was great too, gave me all the small town and Christmas feels! Loved this novella!

I am out of a few month of absolute crunch at work, so I am burned-out, which means I am in the mood for short, light romances. The cover art sealed the deal on this series. Plus, 'tis the season!

I liked this one: well written, good pacing, endearing characters. Their love story was gradual and sweet. Nice touch having the demon committing to return to therapy btw - he could have been a bit of a red flag with his addictive personality, otherwise. At this stage in my adult life, going to therapy gives anyone sexy points in my book, anyway!

Of course worldbuilding is not the focus here, but I quite liked the world of the series, through the glimpses we get: demons have a some interesting cultural/behavioral traits and the end of year pagan-like traditions worked well too.

The 3 novellas in that series cross over a bit toward the end, and it was well done actually (those things can really go into heavy-handed territory fast, but didn't here) and the fact it was so seamless while involving 3 different authors is pretty neat.

Holly's Unjolly Christmas was such a sweet and steamy holiday romance!

I loved how grumpy Az did his best to help Holly feel welcome (especially the tree and decorations - so sweet!) Plus, I loved the depth of his mental illness and how that influenced his character and the growth arc Az went through.

Holly was adorable. I loved all her inner dialogs. And ummm hello I loved that she was able to live out some fantasies with her demon ;)

Such a spicy, cozy read! Definitely recommend picking it up this holiday season!

Holly, after her divorce decides to finally take some time for herself and books a holiday at a cabin. Little did she know, that the cabin was not what was advertised and finds herself sharing said cabin with its permanent grumpy tenant, Az.

The misunderstanding trope is not my favourite, but it is a big part of this book, because of the protagonists' personalities and what they had been through. Read carefully the TW at the beginning of the book, so you know what you're reading. So, even though I don't usually like it, I understand why Lark used it, and so much of what happened was just defense mechanism.

This is once again, a great story to get your Christmas mood started. It was also sweet and quite steamy...

I received a copy of the book from the author, but my review is entirely voluntary and honest.

In “Holly’s Unjolly Christmas” by Lark Green, Azgoran is not a people person, but Holly loves everyone. An avalanche causes them to be trapped together for the season. Will opposites attract or are they doomed for the holidays? 10/10 🤩🤩 This whole series was beautiful! I devoured them all in a day!! Azgoran was my least favorite in the beginning but ended up being amazing at the end! Holly is so sweet and such a loveable character! The plot was perfect and it had the perfect amount of spice 🤩🖤

"Let me guess, it's short for azzhole?"

Oh boyyy..the snark! The banter! The pining! The perfectly good use of demon horns..*chefs kiss*

This will definitely scratch the grumpy/sunshine itch if you need something cozy, wintery and spicy. There's just something that's always appealing about grumpy, growly, flannel wearing lumberjack men that always hits the spot.

4.5⭐️rounded down, review to come!! (Tryna hit the goodreads goal LOL)

I decided after smutty holiday novella number 3 that I would give them one sentence reviews. For here though, I might add a few more.

Holly’s Unjolly Christmas by Lark Green; 5/5⭐️, monster fucking holiday: Holly’s 5 star b&b review is for demon sex not the cabin stay; Az lived up to the Azzhole comment (for a lil).

(Yes I did change my stars for this one bc I did love it lol. It was quick and easy and had a good plot to smut ratio which I think is hard to find in most lil holiday novellas like this!)

I'd like to thank Lark Green for giving me an early copy and I promise my review is voluntary and honest

Holly is recently divorced, a teacher, and a known people pleaser, but she finally decided to splurge on a mini vacation for the holidays. However, the cabin isn't what was advertised.

Azgoran is an ex residency doctor turned grumpy lumberjack who loves being alone. Until Holly shows up of course.

They are forced to stay at the cabin together due to the avalanche, but things begin to warm up between the two of them. Yet both fear that when the road clears, will they still have a chance together?

Personally, I loved it. It was a lot deeper than I went in thinking it would be. It had incredibly deep conversations about people pleasing and learning how to set boundaries/choose yourself and be "selfish". As well as talks about needing help, going to therapy, and how some people can be greedy little soul suckers.

I related a lot to Holly when she talked about how much she hated being told she was too nice .

Their romance was tender yet steamy. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, especially with that one scene *wink wink*.

I am recommending this book to anyone who loves a quick holiday read featuring a not so "grumpy" lumberjack demon and a sunshine 5'2" divorcee teacher who decides to take advantage of the forced proximity and have some fun.

A sweet and spicy christmas romance?! And the MMC is a demon?! Count me in!

This one has surprisingly a lot more depth and deep talk especially about mental health which I appreciate. It makes the story so much realer since so many people struggle with their mental health! Holly and Az are a cute pair and I really enjoyed the winter setting. The misunderstanding between them was a bit … stretchy and it usually not my fave but I liked both characters so much that it was ok for me and the author wrote it in a way I still really loved the story!! 🙌🏻
Also the grumpy x sunshine trope is my absolute fave and Holly is just the cutest sunshine ☀️

I absolutely adored this one and read it as soon as I got it! It’s really hard to put down (so perfect if you want to escape during the holidays) and it’s just what I needed to feel this season completely so if you‘re looking for a good, spicy Christmas story with a HEA - then what are you waiting for? Go and read this book!!

Divorced human FMC who needs to put herself first rents a cabin for the holidays & meets our Demon MMC who's become a hermit after being burned by too many in the past. Both have inner struggles to work past and are snowed in after an avalanche blocks the road.

This was a cozy, slow burn novella with quintessentially executed grumpy/sunshine & forced proximity tropes. The male mental health representation was also well done. Despite being a novella, it wasn't rushed when it came to character growth or world building but, my only criticism would be that the spicy scenes did come and go to quickly based off the angst and build ups!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I enjoyed 80% of this story. When we got to the 3rd act breakup I kind of rolled my eyes at the progression of how it all plays out. Felt really out of place and strange. Also, while I enjoyed the concept of the big grumpy lumberjack demon, I feel like its strange that hes a demon when the tone of the story just felt very small town lumberjack romance. There really wasnt a lot of world building. I could have easily read this entire story as a human guy and nothing would change minus the two seconds that she uses his horns for handlebars. LOL even his little fire issue could easily be a guy who is a pyro. LOL Anyway. I still gave it 4 stars. It was entertaining and the spice was pretty good.
December 23, 2024
This is a smutty xmas paranormal novella, just long enough to get you invested into the story but short enough for the good stuff to come quickly. If you're time sensitive, this delivers.

Holly seeks alone time in a secluded mountain getaway. She gets scammed and ends up in a shackle run by a demon. They're going to discover each other _very throroughly_. This is fun, never corny, quite sexy and with lots of vulnerability inside.

Our very lumberjacky main male character is a demon. He has horns AND has been to therapy. If that isn't hot enough, their chemistry is.

I'd recommend this with eggnog and a warm man to act upon. Would also pair well with hand held devices.

If you are looking for a monster holiday romance with forced proximity look no further. I loved Holly and Az. As is a grumpy lumberjack, Holly is a recently divorced teacher who’s trying to spend the holiday alone. When they get snowed in together sparks fly. I really enjoyed this story. I wished it was just a little bit longer.

This book was really cute. I love a forced proximity, snow in setting. Holly was sweet. A bit too trusting, but sweet and was perfect with Az. Az was an azzhole, as Holly said, but he came around. They were cute.

I wish we had seen some more groveling. Without the grovel, I fear for the future of their relationship and that makes it not as enjoyable.

Holly’s Unjolly Christmas by Lark Green is everything you could want from a holiday romance. Banter and flirting abound with just enough conflict to make me cry, I read it all in one sitting.
Reader be warned: there’s some fantastic role play to look forward to 😉.
