Beckett My home. A place to shine just bright enough. Where my makeshift family and I not only strengthened our bond but readjusted it to fit another. I’ve been coasting in this lane for years, biding my time, and making myself…easily accessible. I don’t move for others—ever. I don’t have to. They go around me, hopefully without chancing too good a look on their way past. After all, people can’t see what you keep hidden. Until she showed up.
Paige My new apartment. Somewhere for me to lay my head between chasing what really matters. Who really matters. I’ve brought enough baggage to fill every inch of this place but I’m not the only one. Someone else’s closet has skeletons too. Skeletons that only come out at night, when nobody’s watching. Nobody but me. And my new roommate, the one with the arctic blue eyes that see more than he lets on, thinks him suddenly being in my path is all fun and games, but I’m not the one afraid of changing lanes and when I do, he’ll be the one working to keep up. If he even can.
*CHANGING LANES is a 110,000 word new adult/enemies-to-lovers romance novel. Although this book is a standalone, it is also book two of the Creekwood Series. Contains foul language and sexual situations intended for audiences 18+. Childhood trauma along with themes of memory loss and self-harm are present.
A. Marie likes to paint her characters’ voices on to the blank canvas of a page using her own blend of quick wit and playfulness. She strives to bring readers entertaining yet powerful stories they’ll fall for time and time again. Born and raised in Washington State, she now resides in upstate New York with her husband and three kids.
A Marie has once again written an addictive NA romance with multi-layered characters who will pull you right into their world and you won't want to leave!
This second book in the Creekwood series (which can be read as a standalone) is about the jokester, Beckett. He acts like the partier, charmer and playboy; but he is really using his big personality to cover up his broken past and create walls around his emotions and heart. As his story unfolds you will get to see all the deep layers to him and fall for every one of them. My heart broke for this lovable and passionate man and I just wanted him to get his HEA. When Paige barges into his life unexpectedly and without welcome, their banter and chemistry create roommate situations that are both steamy and emotionally charged. Paige is exactly who Beckett needs at just the right time. I loved how strong she was and how she stood up to Beckett again and again. They both love and hate with so much passion that you can't help but get caught up in their hurricane of emotions, and cheer them on until the end.
We also get to see a lot of the beloved Creekwood crew from book one, which I also loved. These characters have woven themselves into my heart and I'm so glad that there is still yet another book to come in this series. A Marie's writing is spectacular and the storyline is all-consuming. If you love NA romance - then this one is a must read!!
After slipping on my favorite pair of shorts, I scoop up the abandoned bra and head out to the kitchen, pulling the busty garment through my fingers. Whoever had to do last night’s walk of shame without her girls properly supported must’ve made for one hell of a scene. I think she was blonde. Maybe. I don’t know. A pink bra though, that must’ve been what caught my eye in the first place. Unfortunately, it ended there too, judging from the item still being in my hands with absolutely no memory whatsoever of the girl who wore it. I can’t help but snort at the irony. “Is this normal?” I jerk at the feminine voice slicing through the still apartment, my gaze colliding with hers. Our new roommate. Paige. Marc, my other roommate and best friend—before this whole lapse in judgment—speaks up from the breakfast bar, saying, “He usually only wears neutrals. He must be trying out a new look though.” I pin him with a scowl. What? When his eyes narrow on my hands, my grip tightens on the bra. “This color’s all wrong on me,” I half-joke. I wear pink. Not in bra form, obviously, but pink is badass and I have several shirts to prove it. If this girl sticks around long enough, she’ll see them. She’ll see everything. A smirk pulled tight at my lips, I lift the stupid thing and say, “maybe it’ll look better on you,” then toss the bra across the room to her. She makes no move to catch it and the pink monstrosity ends up hitting her chest before falling to the floor with a thump. Okay then. Without so much as blinking, she cocks an eyebrow, sending a warm shot of something straight to my groin. Ignoring her and the unwelcome heat below my waist, I yank the fridge open and, seeing we’re out of the coffee concentrate Angela keeps us stocked with, I grab the juice. With my back still to the room, I adjust myself through my mesh shorts before turning around and unscrewing the cap in silence. I tip the bottle to my lips, taking big gulps, never breaking eye contact with her. Marc mutters “dick” under his breath but I ignore him, too. I never wanted her as a roommate. He made that dumbass decision alone. He can welcome her alone, too. She finally cuts the connection but keeps her bright green eyes on me as they trail the rest of my body. I slow my swallows, taking her in as well. Skin-tight, black jeans cling to seriously long legs tucked into heavy combat-looking boots, a black V-neck tee with a white wing design on both sides hang loosely off a toned body—it must be tight to handle a motorcycle of her own—and dark, wavy hair with plum coloring frames a strikingly beautiful face. One that lures you in only to spit you back out begging for more. Her entire persona screams biker. And fuck me. Why does she have to live just past my bedroom door? Why couldn’t we have had some fun together for one night before I forgot all about her like pink bra girl? “Beige was it?” I poke. Her eyes thin, coming back up to touch on my juice-coated lips before darting over to Marc, and I miss them immediately. I don’t care if she’s picking me apart like a lion consuming its last meal, I want her focused on me and only me. I don’t know why, but I do. “Cute. Beige and boring, that’s me,” she responds easily. When she drags her gaze back to mine, there’s a defiance in it that gets my blood pumping. “And you’re Beck, right? Is that short for something?” “There’s nothing short about me.” Duh. When the resulting silence stretches a beat too long, Marc supplies, “Beckett,” for her. I stand mesmerized as long, yet somehow still delicate, hands run down her shirt, smoothing the material. “You remind me of a dog I had once.” “Was his name Beckett too?” Meeting my stare head-on, she says, “No, he was just an asshole.”
This book was absolutely awful. I do not understand how it has such a high rating. There was no plot at all and was filled with nonsense that had nothing to do with anything and was boring.
SHE DID IT AGAIN YALL. I am ~speechless~ but will still write a review because this book deserves it. Series are scary. They are risky. But A. Marie was like nahh that’s not an issue for me. Was I worried in the beginning? Yeah. There were times were I was like I need just a *leeeeetle* more but little did I know A. Marie was waiting to just GRAB ALL MY FEELINGS AT ONCE. BECKETT. Who I will now be calling Becky beck. I love you. Can you be real? You are so hardcore and sarcastic and my heart just melts.
And PAIGE! Girl. You freaken GO. You’re a badass who doesn’t take shit from no one, not even your roommates.
Who doesn’t love love? Is it easy? Nah. Is it always simple? HECK NAH.
But do we RIDE ON?! HELL YEAH WE DO.
Please. PLEASEEEEE (on my knees pleading) read this series. If you’ve read Detour, you will LOVE this. I laughed, I smirked, I blushed and I even CRIED. And let me tell ya... that ending.... I GASPED. So yup. Just read it.
Paige is just a girl with family issues. Beckett is just a guy with...family issues. And that’s why this story WORKS.
When Beckett’s old roommate left, his other roommate, Marc, brings Paige in to rent the room. Beckett’s not too happy about it, probably because he feels a connection to her he won’t admit or even acknowledge. But because he hasn’t dealt with his issues, he takes things out on her. And sometimes, he’s just plain mean. But despite his acting out, Beckett slowly starts to realize that Paige has won her way into his heart.
I loved how this story came together. I loved the duality of the couple and their similar histories that made them all the more perfect for each other. And I loved that Paige didn’t let Beckett off the hook. Like EVER.
But the best part about this book is the message: We can’t love another person fully until we heal ourselves. So good.
I did run into a content warning I wasn’t expecting: The story does include someone with Alzheimer’s.
Paige and Beckett are steamy and explosive. A solid five-star read!
One of the best books of 2021. But now we need another book to continue with what's happening next in this family. Love the Creekwood series. Thank you A. Marie
The story was...pretty good. But if there is such a thing as toxic feminism, this author has it BAD.
I consider myself a feminist. I believe women can do just about anything. However, I recognize that women can't do absolutely everything and there's nothing wrong with having a man/men in your life who care about you and are protective. This author makes it seem like the worse thing in the world. The one thing that ruins a story for me faster than bad grammar and typos is when Super B!tc# rides onto the scene... you know...that one female that couldn't save herself from dust bunnies or fight her way out of a wet paper bag, but she's got everything under control and she's gonna save the day.
Save me from the "I am woman, hear me roar"/she-woman-man-haters.
I loved Beckett, but I didn't really like the way his story played out. Where was his father throughout this book? It feels like there was no real closure to the issue with his mother. Everything was just a little too neat and tidy for my liking.
Where to begin. I’ve been waiting for Beckett’s story ever since I read Detour and let me tell you. I wasn’t disappointed. A. Marie has a way with words and she makes you feel the characters thoughts and emotions as they think and say them. Beckett and Paige find in each other a solace they didn’t know they needed. Beckett is running from a past and Paige is trying to ignore her present and the way they get each other to finally open up is so satisfying. I loved Changing Lanes and I’m eagerly awaiting Marc’s story, I know she’s got something crafty up her sleeves for him and his heroine!
Changing Lanes (Creekwood Boys #2) is an amazing enemies to lovers/forced proximity romance. Beckett is none to happy with he finds out that Paige is his new roommate. She’s a girl that he can’t just hook up with. Paige is outspoken, smart and rides a bike….basically his perfect girl if he actually wanted a girlfriend…too bad he doesn’t. But there is an undeniable connection between them which results in an eventual friendship, then sexual relationship and then more. But both Beckett and Paige are dealing with similar yet different struggles and neither are ready for a relationship until they face their own demons.
I’m already obsessed with the Creekwood Boys from Detour (Creekwood Boy #1) and Beckett was always a bit of a mystery…the perpetual playboy who you can tell is more complex & deeper than we see on the surface. And boy, was he. He was such good man…even when struggling with his overcoming his past. He was also playful, funny & a hard worker. Now, Paige is #girlgoals…I want to be her. She was so hardworking & caring. She was a caregiver and the glue trying to hold her rapidly falling apart family together.
This story is so well written. I loved the relationship between Beckett & Paige and how their very different but similar pain helped them evolve, grow & heal together. This is definitely a story that will hit all the feelings…it’s real, gritty and honest. Neither Beckett or Paige were perfect…they made so many mistakes and I liked that the author didn’t make them perfect. This is real life, real loss and real heartbreak.
The chemistry and steam is off the charts. The Sexual chemistry was HOT.
Overall, I just can’t get enough of the Creekwood Boys and their girls. I am salivating for Marc’s story and the mystery surrounding him.
I loved the first novel in the Creekwood series, Detour, great characters and storyline. So, when the second in the series, which by the way can be read as a standalone, dropped in my inbox, I was super excited! I really enjoyed getting a whole book about Beckett, he is such a fun, crazy but sweet guy, of course Paige was head over heels for him.
Excellent storyline, loved the different point of views. I absolutely loved a new main character, being introduced to the Creekwood family. The chemistry between Paige and Beckett was amazing. And it couldn’t have been a story without Angela and Coty! I don’t want to say too much, but if you haven’t read either of these, I highly recommend them. They are full of craziness, fun, and steamy scenes. 🔥 Very addictive!
This is the 2nd book in this series and is Beckett and Paige’s story. Beckett acts all tough a womanizer, but underneath he has a huge heart, and Paige charges into his life and is more than capable of holding her own with the guys. They have more in common than they first thought, as they are both haunted by their pasts, and the chemistry between these two is off the charts. This is a well written story which is an emotionally charged tale, with witty banter, passion, and love, which all leads to a steamy and all-consuming read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all readers.
the more i read about the creekwood boys and girls the more i fall in love with them 🥹
even though this book was not as superior as the first one, i really really liked the dynamic and the characters!!
i am so glad i read beckett's story and that i finally understood the secrets he hid with his goofy, playful and 'golden retriever'-y appearance. paige was such a badass character; her backstory with her mom and the scene with her brothers had me sobbing 💔
i feel like the ending was too rushed, like maybe it was the slowburn just slowburning the hell out of this book, but switching from 'maybe love you' to whatever the last chapter before the epilogue was? it just doesn't sit right with me, i wanted MORE OF THEM AS AN OFFICIAL COUPLE!!! and the epilogue???? CRAZYYYY OMFG
So I personally loved the length of this book, there was a lot going on in all of the characters lives that needed to be developed and this book was long enough to do that without feeling rushed or like it was dragging on forever.
There was also the perfect amount of smut, chefs kiss 🫶🏼
I love the Creekwood boys and this peak into Beckett’s head was amazing. And he and Paige are so right for each other. We all need more happy endings in our life and Changing Lanes is here to deliver.
I want to thank Ashley for my copy of Changing lanes. I loved Beckett and I felt for him. We have so much alike. This book was a amazing story. Well done. Definitely recommend this for sure.
I was leaning heavily on 4 stars for this one until the shower scene. It was sexy sure, but it was so sweet and really showed a side of Beckett that I found irresistible.
