STALKED. HUNTED. OR SAVED?"A funny thing happened to me on the way to Armageddon …"It’s bad enough when you wake up in the middle of a forest with a thick head, no memory …Oh, and you're wearing a Santa party dress.
"I guess I had a skinful or two. It doesn’t feel like Christmas time… "
It gets worse when hugely popular influencer Galia realises she’s bound and gagged - and the man standing over her is her stalker.
But things get really bad when the stalker says he’s only trying to protect her. From herself. From all the things she’s forgotten.
And that other lurking figure in the woods.
Better get a move on. It’s not just her world that’s coming crashing down.
For Galia, her story unfolds piece by painful piece as her fragmented past life story collides with an awful reality.
"Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on? … I am surrounded by crazy people."
Mostly, The Clearing is told as a very zoomed in vision of a woman who has been drugged and kidnapped from a nightclub and has woken in a forest. There are only two other main characters. The world is claustrophobic and fraught…yet we see flashes of wider problems outside the forest, a world that is facing its own desperate challenges. These visions are skillfully interwoven within Galia’s story.
