Broken Omegas #2

Violet Flames

Rate this book
VioletThere’s a belief among the patients at Havenfield that broken omegas end up with broken packs. After all, no alpha wants a traumatized omega as a mate….that is, unless they’re refused at a “proper” institution. Then they settle for us.

But I’m not looking to settle.

At twenty-eight years old, I’m happy to live out the rest of my days without an alpha telling me what to do. Even if that means I won’t live much longer—omegas my age simply don’t survive very long without a pack to tend to them.

But I’m okay with that.

I’ll die clinging to the last memories of the love of my life, and whatever is left of my pride.

But my doctors have other plans.

Forced to live with a pack I don’t know to nurse their sick omega back to health, I’ve decided I’m done doing as I'm told.

Eager submission was never my strong suit.

This book is an MMMMF omegaverse, paranormal romance. It contains violence, dark themes, and sword crossing. HEA. Please heed the warnings before reading.

One of my guilty pleasures is the omegaverse genre, and I spent HOURS non stop INHALING this second book in the Broken Omegas series by this author!

Y’all, this series is SMUTTY, 18+, with a page ton of trigger warnings (more like a list of things that make me even more excited 🤣) and is at the same time the perfect combination of filthy spice with sweet romance 🔥

With the second book we follow another omega, Violet, who doesn’t want a pack or to be mated after a traumatic experience in her past. I LOVE forced proximity and this book has a lot of forced situations as Violet is sent to a new pack 🔥 we also have non-con and dub-con scenes which were 😱💀
And I was lovely surprised with how much I loved Brin! I love seeing the interaction between two omegas it’s always so sweet and loving it makes my heart swell!

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review

wtf

The pack leader alpha r*pes violet in order to cover her in his scent for his omega. The organization basically tells him to, wth? I was looking forward to this book cause I love reading Omegaverse with two omegas but this ain’t it.

Granted maybe I missed the content warnings, but in the synopsis it should’ve immer put in the description there was this scene. Dnf at 24%

what I liked:

the concept, I was really attracted to the blurb and trigger warnings of this story.

what I didn’t like:

everything. this story had more holes than a beehive. I honestly don’t even know where to begin. it’s very hard for me to believe that this is the same author who wrote the last rose. that story is one of my favourite dark omegaverse stories.

I guess let’s just start with the fmc. I absolutely hated how her trauma and ptsd was such a core part of her and crucial to the story but the plot point wasn’t fleshed out at all. frankly, it was mostly in the story to make it dark but that was about it.

the mmc’s were utterly useless. there was hardly any relationships formed. while I understand the concept of that pack, I couldn’t see them being mates at all. it genuinely was just a bunch of people thrown together and were supposed to believe their mates? sure jan.

spoiler: the non-con that happened added absolutely nothing to the story and was just plain cringe and gross.

I could keep going but really the author should take this story down and rewrite it.

special notes:

I will not be purchasing a physical copy and I do not recommend this story.

tropes:

honestly the tropes that are used to market this story are lowkey fraud.

triggers:

death
non-con
bullyingish
violence

spice:

non-con isn’t spice.

link to the book:

again, I don’t recommend this book so I will not be linking it.

I absolutely DESPISED Han. I get that he was supposed to be the main “alpha” the FMC was with, but I couldn’t stand the way he acted. She couldn’t even talk around him and he just made life harder for everyone. He didn’t even really belong with pack fr. The only redeeming quality that I saw was Brin, because for all the FMC’s unwillingness, she never did anything truly rebellious to get out the situation. She just let it all happen. I feel like I would have liked more scenes of the class difference between the secondary genders as it would have made the smut more fulfilling and not so sudden.

what?

Girl what was this? This was horrible. She was treated like a 2nd thought the whole time. She never stood up for herself. Mind you this lady is almost 30 getting spanked like she’s a child. That argument she had with the other omega & she didn’t stand up for herself? Just terrible. This was badly written. And too short for all that happened. She was owed apologies and never got them.

b o o k r e v i e w - Violet Flames by @kittlynnauthor 💜 4.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 5 bc it read so easily and I ate it up!

Aaaahhh yass people! Lemme start off with saying that I’m honoured to now be part of Kitt Lynn’s ARC team! I discovered Kitt’s books during one of @telepathybooktours tours and I FELL HARD! 💗

Violet Flames is the second book in the Broken Omega series (but imo can be read as a stand-alone as well!) and was one of my most anticipated reads of 2024! And BOYY it did not disappoint!

I was surprised that while being so familiar with my fave things like the superbebb writing style which allowed me to FLY through this book, this book also had a “new” vibe to it compared to Kitt’s other books and I liked it very much!!

Her ability to write characters who you simultaneously hate and love because they work so well together as a pack and have such interesting dynamics keeps blowing me away haha! Her characters aren’t perfect, they have flaws, are annoying but also work well with each other. Kitt gave all of these characters real personalities and imperfections. Also their relationships have different dynamics and strengths, which made some characters fit better with each other than others - but that made the story way more believable, it made them a real pack/family! 💗

Also THE HURT, ooofff this book had me crying and yelling. This plot pffff! Loved it but it was also so sad, heartbreaking and UNFAIR sometimes! Also it had some “UHMMMM im not okay with this 😤" moments, but while it made me mad it also made some of the other characters mad - and that strengthened my feelings for those characters hehe. So I’d say defo check out the TWs - but well done cause my anger felt supported haha!

What I loved even more about this book is how it not only focussed strongly on that of the FMC but also on (especially one of my fave) the side characters!! That added another layer to the story which I just ATE UP! 👀

Andddd what made the characters even stronger and made me fall even harder and feel all the *emotions* even stronger was the fact that it was written in multiple POV!

Then THE SPICE ❤️‍🔥 y’all just as good as always, I feel like I keep repeating myself with each book Kitt Lynn writes but it was again *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏼 Buttttt Violet Flames also contains some mystery, interesting plot twists 👀 epic revelations! I couldn’t put it down!! Definitely reccommend!

Gahhh! I loved this book so much. Violet and Brim are the cutest omegas and I love how much they love each other. Don’t even get me started on their 🥵🥵🥵 alphas. Cam is my favorite. I always have a weakness for the golden retriever alpha.

Definitely read the TW!

This one is hard for me to review because I didn't really like it, but I could not stop reading it. I think Kitt Lynn's writing is very smooth and engaging and I just kept wanting to know what was going to happen. But honestly this pack (except Brin) kinda sucked. Immediately after they pick Violet up from the omega hospital/boarding house/prison thing there is a noncon scene. Which the author was very clear about in the TW so it isn't a surprise but it was so annoying because Han just keeps thinking about how he would never do that to his other omega and it literally makes him sick. And just continues to do it. It just feels like the whole pack only cares about Violet in regards to her fixing Brin. I think she deserves better than that. Both her a Brin do.

Violet and Brin though. I love these two omegas. They really heal themselves and help each other because the alphas in this book are so freaking dumb. I also like anytime I was reading through Violet's POV because she is funny and quite determined. I also really liked the developing relationships between Cam and Aris. Some of the most comforting parts come from Aris since he seemed to be the only one to think beyond his own wants when it came to Brin. I have absolutely nothing good to say about Han.

If you like dubcon/noncon, omegaverse, why choose with MM, hurt/comfort, spanking, and/or pack dynamic hierarchy definitely give this a try.

This was a great omegaverse read with a unique storyline! I loved the hurt/comfort shown, as well as the growth from getting over the past. I also liked the action that happened later on in the book! I liked the authors writing style, I would definitely read more omegaverse books by her!

Great book by Kitt. This series with the broken omegas has been so good so far. This pack had many different issues and needed healing, and Violet with her own tragic past was just the remedy for that.

I absolutely hated all the male leads in this book. I hesitate to even call this a romance because at no point did it really feel like one to me. Sure, towards the end we go through the motions and everyone is saying they care for each other but I can't fathom WHY. ( a few vague spoilers below)

The female lead is used as a tool to cure their sad omega at home. How is she supposed to do this? Unclear. Perhaps because she's able to be friends with some omegas with trauma in the academy? This is pretty much the only evidence we are given that she would be capable of anything like that. But our female lead is basically gonna die if she doesn't get fucked soon so they eagerly throw her at the pack and hope they'll just figure it out.

She's immediately raped. Kinda violently. I know the warnings say dub con but it's very much rape and also there are so many better ways to explore dub con then whatever the heck that was. She's not allowed to disagree with them or she's punished, she can't talk back to them, disobey them, basically have any free will without asking for permission first. She's not even allowed to wear her own underwear.

I know they consider omegas property in this world but I'm used to alphas who don't agree with that and treat their omegas like people (because ya know, we're supposed to actually be able to like them at some point ) but these alphas very much just treat their omegas like objects. There is even a line about when you're supposed to know an omega wants to be fucked because our omegas keep telling them no but the alphas keeping doing it anyways and the alphas respond that sometimes omegas just don't wanna admit it or know what they really want. They sound so much like rapists but we're somehow supposed to find them sweet?

They don't pamper the female lead. She comes with barely any clothes and they don't even notice for most of the book and when they do notice they don't give her clothes of her own but some hand me downs from the beta. She doesn't even get her own room. She's forced to sleep in the other omegas room. Which is a weird decision to me when they know how protective an omega is over their nest; but you've forced a strange new woman you are fucking into your omegas nest?

She basically nurses the male omega back to a more stable mindset and he's almost immediately an awful bitch to her. I get he's going through a lot but there are some things you just don't say to people. There is pretty much no apology by the male omega either. He just ignores her for like a week then claims she's his suddenly but even then his internal monologue reveals he still isn't sure about her (And at this point we're pretty far into the book)

the female lead is used , abused , neglected, not given an ounce of space or freedom and if she voices a sliver of discontent is treated like SHE'S the crazy one for being upset and not just shutting up and taking it. There's not really any apologies. No groveling from anyone. honestly barely even anything to indicate they care about her besides a few small instances of basic human decency? Even then, I think a lot of strangers would have been a better comfort.

The beta character who wasn't as bad as the alphas cause he never really tried to punish her or take her against her will (or threaten to) still was soooo whiny the entire book and really only seemed to exist to be another m/m love plot and be there to give the alphas a break during heats. If anything it felt like the side love story between the beta and alpha took away from the love cause it just highlighted how shitty they treated the omegas even more to me.

The end of the book has the climax happen and it's big and dramatic. there are feelings, mating bites (which by the way they did not ask her before the first alpha marked her. He just decided that for her. It wasn't addressed and I guess we're not supposed to question it or him) and we are supposed to believe these sincere feelings and declarations of love and I just didn't.

I can take a lot of ridiculous stuff and questionable writing when reading omega smut. But ultimately it's still a romance book and if I believe in nothing else in this book I have to be able to believe in the fact that they love each other. Perhaps they're even just in like/lust with each other; that's fine too. But I felt none of that. I barely believed they all liked each other on like a base line friendship level. I mean why would they? Heck ,I'd even accept the borderline magic excuse of them being fated mates or something. But there just was not any of that.

I finished the book. So that's something. I suppose a book has to be compelling in some way to get you to finish it. That's the best thing I could say about it.

1st person/multi pov
Spice: 4/5

What happens when an Omega who doesn't want a pack is forced to join one that already has an Omega? Chaos that's what happens. Kitt Lynn's second book in the Broken Omegas series, Violet Flames, follows the story of Violet. Burned by heartbreak and betrayal from her past she has no interest in finding a pack. When a pack is desperate to heal their Omega and bring him back from the depression that's breaking him a little more each day the opportunity to place Violet with a pack where they might save each other cannot be passed up. All that's left is to wait and see if adding Violet to the mix will bring them all together or tear them apart.

As far as an Omegaverse book goes this one gave me everything I love about the genre in one book. I believe this is the first time I've read one with two Omegas in the pack but let me just say I will be looking for more. I adored how these two Omegas drifted toward each other and leaned on each other even through the push and pull of depression and jealousy. Their bond was by far my favorite in the story. I have to say I was not a huge fan of the pack leader Han. I didn't hate him but something about his character just irritated me a tad. The other two pack members were perfect though and I love how their characters developed throughout the book.

I enjoyed the pace of the story and easily read several chapters at a time excited to see what would happen next. I liked how the story played out and the way it ended. I wouldn't have been opposed to maybe a little more tension or drama in the last third or so of the book but not having more of it didn't cause me to like the book any less. If you like why choose Omegaverse with MM action and good spice then I would absolutely recommend this book. And though it is the second in the series it can be read as a standalone, however, I do recommend reading book one first since I really enjoyed it as well and it will give you a little bit more understanding of Violet's character prior to being placed with pack.

tug at my heart why don’t you!?

Wow, this tugs at everything in my heart! I’ve never hated on an omega in a book before but that was the most painful for me was how hateful his words were to her, I know it was short lived but that was such a painful chapter. I thought I’d not like the pack alpha the most, but that bit hurt to read! Of course his pack alpha treating him the way he did was what lead to him acting like that but damn, that was gutting! This whole thing was hurt/comfort. I’m hoping that she and Corri can reconnect and eventually Carys too. Although I’m worried I won’t really like her story which is next, but we shall see!

"Eager submission was never my strong suit."

Spoiler alert. She submits about 5 minutes past the front door and just keeps on submitting to these assholes.

This author needs to update her TWs in addition to the book description. This is not dub con. This is straight up the MMC r*ping an omega within hours of meeting her so he can get his mating scent all over her. But it's okay everyone because it's all to save his other broken omega. And this all happens next door to the rest of the pack who aren't bothered in the least by her r*pe because after she screams in pain she starts moaning cause her alpha smells hot. Guess it's all good cause she must have wanted it right fellas?

I thought when she woke up the next day after her growled her to sleep (aka roofied her) that she would be hurt and furious. Nope...she goes and has breakfast with one of the pack and "giggles" with him like nothing bad happened. It's gross and the FMC just forgets all her years of trauma and refusal to be with a pack and just rolls over and then goes and lets Han spank and force oral sex on her just a day after he r*pes her??? And he spanks her because she dares to question his authority. So much for not bending to "eager submission."

I've never been so angry while reading a book. I needed a drink to bring down the rage I felt. DNF obviously.

Violet (h), a determined omega content to live life on her own terms without an alpha despite societal expectations, is involuntarily placed within the fractured Redpath Pack, exposing the pack's raw wounds while navigating the complexities of trauma and healing. The Redpath Pack, consisting of alphas, Han (H) and Aris (H), a latent beta-to-alpha Cam (H) and omega Brin (H), is portrayed as broken and dealing with their own past traumas when Violet is forced to live with the pack to nurse a Brin back to health. Her arrival disrupts the fragile equilibrium of the Redpath Pack and is initially met with skepticism and questionable actions, especially driven by Han. While some alphas display controlling tendencies and unsettling behaviors, gradually supportive connections form amid the brokenness. The interconnected relationships and evolving omegaverse dynamics within the group, especially involving alphas Han and Aris, and Cam, amplify the complexities of healing, pain, dark themes, and found family, with a focus on Violet and omega Brin's evolving bond. Lot of ultra-hot and steamy RH action build all throughout the story, with non-con/dub-con, spanking, crossed swords, and plenty of Omegaverse elements (nesting, biting, claiming, heats, rutting, ABO).

This left me unsatisfied. It’s still overall a good book and a decent continuation of the series but much like the first one it’s left me wanting.

This book feels like basically seeing just the trailers to each new episode in a series. You get the general idea of what’s going on but none of the details. Most of the scenes felt unfinished or rushed. Except the two chapters devoted to Cam and Aris in the rut room. That didn’t need so much honestly. So much else was going on that deserved more attention.

Most of the emotional things were only brushed upon and ignored in exchange for rutting scenes instead. There was a lot to unpack among the pack and it never fully gets done. I’m fine with a lot of spice as long as it’s balanced with the things that actually matter. This ain’t balance therefore the sex was too much. Makes it feel like the story really isn’t important and the author just wants to write smut for the sake of writing smut. And it’s a shame with a story like this that had so much trauma to dig through. Justice wasn’t done on any of it.

Once again the Docs give them rules that they go to extremes to obey instead of focusing on what’s happening to their Omegas. Instead of talking to them to find out what they need versus listening to a bunch of beta docs who don’t have the instincts to fully know and understand.

I feel like Violet really got screwed over and she deserved so much more than this book gave her. It doesn’t matter that they all appear to end up happy. At the end of the day they never actually wanted her. To the point that Han throws up after the first time. Aris treats her mostly like a kid he’s babysitting. Cam doesn’t really even seem to pay much attention to her until the end. And Brin lashes out at her and gives her the cold shoulder. Which his behavior is at least warranted.

But they basically just have to make do with her there since there’s a no return policy. Biology makes them want to care for her so it doesn’t feel genuine. Biology makes her crave them so I don’t ever feel like she has feelings for them beyond with the hormones make her feel. I don’t feel any chemistry between any of them outside of Brin with Aris. This pack started dysfunctional and ended the same in my book.

I don’t even feel like those three even know how to treat or take care of an omega let alone two. The only thing they do is focus on rutting them. No other care is given. They didn’t even get Violet any clothes! Just gave her hand me downs after weeks from Cam. Pathetic.

And don’t even get me started on how big of an idiot Han is. He clearly shouldn’t be in the drug trafficking business. He has a threat to his pack and has 0 security. Goes to a place that’s familiar and owned by a distant family member. Dude should stick to the family business and leave the illegal activity for someone with a brain.

After reading the epilogue… even that is not worthy of what she deserves. That epilogue was much more Brin focused it felt. Like she’s just there to keep Han occupied while he waits for his turn with Brin. She had the worst epilogue of the 3 I’ve read so far! It’s just so rude.

Ok read-BE AWARE the TW don’t fully encompass

I didn’t realize the Rose book was attached to a series. I read it some time ago and really loved it. This story is unique. A new take on what happens when the damaged and broken omegas find their pack. I do have several beefs with this story. The Non-Con is strong in this book. And by the lead alpha at that. Not in a sexy D/s type relationship, one built on trust and respect, but he was going to do whatever he wanted with Violets body with no regard for how she felt about it. IDC that eventually she wanted to stick around, but to not have any conversations with her about what was happening and why? Yeah not ok. Second, packs are about family, and these alphas are so far from a family unit. The beta just there to babysit the omegas and be a house mate. The second alpha just okey dokeys whatever the lead alpha says. Han enforcing his will no matter what anyone else wants and he was the detriment to the entire pack the whole time! The story was well written and the characters were reasonably developed. But there were just too many “hell nope “ moments for me. And I really feel for Violet. It’s almost like she accepted the pack because there were no other options. She cared for Brin, but I think it was more of how omegas know each other and care for each other, not actual romantic love. She was a bandaid and used simply to bring Brin back from the brink. Not a fan of the way the story read. I love a good take charge growley alpha as much as the next person but I had no respect for Han or Aris, and poor Cam was given the wrong alphas to model his behavior after. So I gave it a 3 ⭐️ because I felt for Violet and her circumstances, but the men in the story leave a lot to be desired. And yeah it’s a story, for entertainment, however how many women will read this and believe this is how they should be treated? Accept things even when they don’t want them? I would not allow my adult daughters to read this book for that reason.

ARC provided disclaimer at bottom*

I will start out by saying that I cut this book slack, because it is part of a series and it is the only one I’ve read. However, the author put in the description that it can be read standalone. To me this means that it should be written in such a way that I can come into the story and not need any outside help in order to understand what is going on. That isn’t the case in the matter of this book. The main characters are introduced without being given an introduction or a reference to the world hierarchy in terms of alpha, beta, or omega. In typical wolf pack, the omega is not needed or wanted and is lowest in rank. In this book, you are lead to believe they are the center of the poly group that makes up individual “packs”. Is each poly group a pack? Is each poly group a part of a larger pack? This is not explained. The female main character goes through a severe trauma and then spends ten years in a psychiatric institution where she is then released into the custody of another pack because their second? Third? Alpha died. In typical packs there is one alpha, and not more than one with only one lesser. The male main characters don’t give her any information or a chance to acclimate, there is no reasoning behind any of their actions throughout most of the book. I feel like this was written mostly so that the author could write about spice and throw in some plot points along the way? I enjoyed the spice! Just not the plot. Overall this book left me confused and wanting, and not in a good way.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Violet Flames is a contemporary, omegaverse, why choose, dark romance. There is no shifting in this world. There are lots of TWs, so be sure to check before reading.

When omegas go through something traumatic they are taken into care where they are treated and then paired with a pack that is able to support them.

Violet is 28 and classed as an old omega. Most omegas die by 25 if they are not mated but Violet is strong and stubborn. The centre decides that an emergency placement is needed and they have a pack whose current omega needs support.

As with most alphas, they think they know what’s best but the omegas have other plans. The interaction in the pack is amazing described and very realistic. Obviously things are difficult to start but gradually improves.

I love Kitt’s writing and how she has various types of omegaverse in her different series.

Violet is such a strong fmc considering the trauma that she went through and even through the males in the pack don’t seem the nicest to start with, they are very protective. There is so much that happens in this story but with just the right amount of detail that Violet remains the main focus.

This book has:

💜 Why choose: MMMMF
💜 Two omegas (one male, one female)
💜 Latent alpha (beta to alpha transition)
💜 Non-c0n
💜 Vio|ence
💜 DVP/DP
💜 Age-gap
💜 Sp@nking, sl0ppy seconds, DVP/DP
💜 Sword-crossing
💜 Kn0tting, nesting, heats, and ruts!

Violet Flames is the second book in The Broken Omega series but it can definitely be read as a standalone.

In this book we follow Violet, an omega who doesn’t want a pack after a traumatic experience in the past. Most omegas die young if they are not placed with a pack or if they aren’t mated. But Violet is strong and determined to be alone even if it kills her. But when a pack is desperate to find an omega to help heal their omega there’s an emergency placement and Violet doesn’t have a choice but to take this chance.

Violet Flames is a very fast paced and addictive story, I read it in two-three days (which is fast for me). From the very start I felt so much for Violet, she’s been through a lot and she deserved so much more. She and Brin were my favorite characters. I like forced proximity stories but I really don’t like non-consent or dubious consent scenes, so I skimmed through them in this book. It frustrated me a lot that Violet was treated as someone who was just there to fix Brin, and that Brin’s depression was looked at as something broken that needed to be fixed. I also didn’t feel the romance/chemistry between the characters until the last few chapters. What I liked the most is that the author has included all the trigger/content warnings at the beginning of the book. That’s always a plus in my opinion, more authors should do that.

I recommend this book to anyone who’s familiar with the omegaverse, but make sure to check the trigger warnings before diving into it.

Thank you telepathy.booktours and the author Kitt Lynn for providing me with an eCopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

2.75/5 Stars :

Thank you to Flying Pig PR for the ARC.

This is book 2 in the Broken Omegas series but they are each standalones. I really enjoyed book 1 in this series I liked the level of darkness and I understood the intentions of the mmcs. This book I didn’t enjoy quite as much. I felt like the Alphas truly didn’t care about our fmc and only saw her as a way to “fix” their male omega when the female omega was traumatized and should have been treated like a person not just a tool to get their omega back to normal. I hated how both of the omegas were talked about in this book, like they don’t know what they want and they don’t understand each other or how to help the other. This one felt like it leaned too much on hormones and instinct compared to the first book that relied on emotions as well as the other stuff.

Violet suffered a traumatic event at a young age and due to this was sent to Havenfield for Broken Omegas. She never wanted a pack and due to this her heats were getting dangerous but she didn’t care after what she experienced. But when she is forced to live with a pack and nurse their omega back to health she decides she is done with being told what to do. She is determined to find a way out of this even if it lands her in a worse place.

I hated everyone in this book except for Violet and Brin. Brin is the male omega Violet is supposed to help and I feel for him because his Alphas clearly don’t understand him and he deserves so much better. I like their relationship together. I think it's really sweet in moments but honestly they deserve better Alphas. Maybe I am just used to Omegaverse where the omegas are treated so much better but I also hated using the terms like broken, needing to be fixed, and similar things. It felt dismissive of everything Brin went through and not everything that isn’t normal needs “fixed,” depression is a real issue and I don’t feel like that go acknowledged for both Brin and Violet.

I recommend the first book in this series. I am not sure if I recommend this one as I do have a lot of issues with it.

I really enjoyed Violet Flames, each of the main characters' personalities shine through separately from each other and moving through the different POV’s throughout the story really helps build out the mental imagery. This is reverse harem with lots of mutual sharing and both MM and MF pairings, both are well written and very engaging. I haven’t read book one in this series yet but immediately added it to my TBR.

To sum it up…
Violet Flames follows Violet through an awful trauma and the subsequent attempt to rehabilitate her before her body gives up entirely. In true Omegaverse fashion the cure is lots of time with her new Alphas. But there’s more to the story then just the spice, like why the pack Alpha is pulling away right when the omega needs him most.
Pacing
This book could be consumed in a sprint or split up over a few reading sessions but it will stay in your mind in between, that’s your warning.

Favorite Quote
“It’s okay, omega.” I crawl into Brin’s nest - our nest. We made this one together. It belongs to both of us. “I’ve got you.”

Spice & Triggers 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m not super familiar with Omegaverse novels but the tropes in Violet Flames seem to be pretty standard for the ones I’ve read. There is on page Death/Murder and Immolation, as well as talk of scarring from burns specifically. The author has triggers listed on their website as well.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

★ “She doesn’t want a pack.” ★

The situation was pretty clear with the Omega Brin and his Hanlon Redpath pack, and desperate expectations has Alpha Han begging at Havenfield’s door to try omega-bonding therapy as a last-ditch attempt. Violet needs her heats stabilized by being claimed before her next heat rolls around, and an urgent placement with this strong alpha should do the trick, according to the institute’s doctor. But being forced to be with absolute strangers has her head in a spin - Violet did not want to be mated for the last ten years, and she is not sure of her place amongst these males who already have one coveted omega. Han resolutely follows the doctor’s instructions and advice to a “T,” which causes a lot of tension and confusion, unfortunately, for all involved, but the pack also experiences a few challenging changes before their journey as a pack becomes cohesive as a unit. The tragedy in their pasts were acknowledged/addressed well. I enjoyed this pack’s dynamics as well as this author’s omegaverse world. Looking forward to more reads from this series!

“AUTHOR’S NOTE: Can be read as a standalone. This book is an MMMMF omegaverse, paranormal romance. It contains violence, non-con, dark themes, and sword crossing. HEA. Please heed the warnings before reading.”

This is the second book in the Broken Omegas series, a collection of contemporary omegaverse standalones. Tropes include why choose (mmmfm), past trauma, secrets, revenge and morally gray MMCs. There is a lot of spice (mm,mf and group) and triggers such as dubcon/non-con so please check the trigger warnings.

The Lovely: Of all the Broken Omega books I’ve read (three), the FMC in this one, Violet, may be my favorite. She’s sassy and independent, which is rare for an omega. She knows what she wants and won’t do something simply because it’s the norm or expected of her. It was fun and refreshing to see.

The Mundane: While I either liked or loved the rest of the pack individually, as a group their dynamic felt off, even after some of the issues they had were resolved. Like, I’m not confident that the pack will “work” going forward - like something was missing.

Rating: 4/5 Stars 4/5 Flames

Recommendation: Well I’ve now read all of the Broken Omegas books that are currently available. The next one is due to be released in November of this year so not too long of a wait. I’ve loved this series as it’s why choose and there was trauma/hurt/comfort in each book. I will also be looking at the author’s other series to see what I might want to read next from her.

TLDR, despite the HEA, this was a bleak, frustrating read that kept trying to justify so many nope nope nope moments.

So the blurb says this book has "dark themes", but I'd go further and say it's a dark omegaverse. The interactions bw the MMC head alpha and FMC equate to r*pe and abuse for basically the whole first half of the story. Why? Bc that alpha repeatedly drags her off somewhere to "rut" her even though she repeatedly clearly struggles, pleads with him to stop, describes how she feels so gross and used afterwards, etc. Oh, and these struggles/pleads each time only stop once she's so pheromone drugged that she begins to "enjoy" it. Moreover, although the alphas constantly mention how they respect and love their omegas, they treat them like possessions, demand unconditional obedience, don't bother communicating, etc.

Example:
(Cam, Aris, and Han are the MMC Alphas. Brin is a MMC omega. Violet is the FMC omega.)

[“Are you allowed to fuck the omegas whenever you want?” Cam asks, and my eyes go wide, surprised that’s what he wants to know. “I mean, I know you can’t just fuck them when they’re in distress or in pain, but you and Han seems to just grab them and do whatever you want…” He trails off and I can imagine that curious, boyish look on his face. It’s a guilty expression, one that says he feels like shit but still wants to know.

“That’s not how it works.” Aris chuckles. “Stop it. I’m not making fun of you. Just listen.” Someone shifts on the bed, messing with his blankets. “As your senses take hold, you’ll be able to tell when an omega needs to be tended to.”

“I could still smell slick when I thought I was a beta,” Cam says. “All betas can smell slick.”

“It’s more than that.” Aris’ voice drops, slipping into his training mode. He’s like this with our new recruits too. Patient and understanding, trying to make sure everyone does their job correctly. “It’s not just an omega’s scent, but their energy. The way they move and the look in their eyes.”

“I’ve heard both Brin and Violet say they don’t want it. But you and Han…” He hems and haws for a second before finally saying, “You fuck them anyway.”

“It’s difficult to describe,” Aris says, and I picture him grimacing. “An omega might verbally reject your advances, but not tending to them could result in them slipping into distress or could leave them in physical pain. Omegas simply don’t like to admit things sometimes. They keep their emotions bottled up. So even though an omega thinks they don’t want to be touched, doesn't mean that’s what is best for them.”

Cam hums as if understanding. “How long do you think it’ll be before I’ll be able to tell what an omega needs?”] - here Bran interrupts the conversations bc he needs to talk to Aris.

redemption

This book really saved this series IMO! I was skeptical going into it because the 1st book threw me off. This seems to be my common theme which is grief! Violet suffering from the loss of an Alpha she never got to mate, and Brin suffering from a loss of an alpha mate and the loss of a bond! Violet comes to Brin when he’s in a lot of distress and severely depressed! Han is desperate to find a solution and bring his omega back to him so he signs up to have another omega do just that! Aris and Cam have their relationship awakening and it was good! Cam making his switch from Beta to Alpha was a sight to see. Everyone’s character development was great! Brin and Violet grow into their feeling for each other. Even though Brin felt as though she was his replacement and that wasn’t! One thing i wish these books was give an actual epilogue at the end of the book instead of me signing up for a newsletter to get an epilogue but nonetheless this book was alright! I’m going to continue to read this series!

Main issue I had was violets trauma. The whole point of this book is supposed to be about the fmc trauma but yet again it’s overshadowed by dumb things. Violet never really spoke with them about the fire or reed. And yes they had a file on her but that only says so much. Like don’t you want the sorry from the source. The angst was so good up until it disappeared for another dumb plot line (drug dealers) like please focus on the main point. Also for the most part I liked Brin but he also annoyed me. I hate when the fmc is made to feel guilty for doing something that nobody else necessarily agrees with. Like Brin blames her for the issues in his own relationship and makes it seem like none of them truly like her ugh. AND VIOLET APOLOGIZED LIKE HUH. I don’t recall Brin ever saying sorry and they he proceeded to also do the thing that upset him originally at the end. Which was leaving the room without permission. Still really enjoyed this though. I read it so quick. Will continue the series.

This was such an amazing read. I couldn't put it down, I read it in a mere few hours, I was that hooked.

I literally cried in some parts of this book, it was truly devastating what these Individuals went through.

Violet. She is such a beautiful soul. What she went through was insane and to have to go through even more bulls*** was horrible. She truly did such an amazing job at being cool and collected and she worked wonders for Brin and the rest of the pack if I'm honest.

The Redpath Pack are amazing. But so so broken, in more ways than 1. Is it weird that I think they were more broken than Violet? This Pack has endured a lot and they are coming apart at the seams. Enter Violet... She is placed with them for her safety and to help this pack recover from a terrible loss. I really loved Aris, Cam and Brin but Han, I was really sceptical about him. Yes I knew he cared for his pack and also Violet but some of his actions are extremely questionable... Aris is your typical loving alpha, Cam is your cinnamon roll and Brin is surprisingly possessive. I think that Violet is exactly what the Redpath Pack needs but doesn't know it yet. It's just unfortunate that they all suffered horrible pasts...

My favourite for sure is Violet, just saying....

My only thing is I wish it was longer because I don't want to say goodbye to these characters yet. I really liked them 🩷🩷🩷

I can't wait to read book 3 🖤🖤🖤

Please check triggers because this baby has dark elements ⚠️⚠️⚠️

I have to say- Violet's opening chapter- what happened ten years ago- broke my heart. What a way to set up a story! But that event shaped her entire life up to that point. Great world building. I liked the dynamic within the pack and loved that there were two omegas. It was interesting that Violet was brought to the pack because their omega Brin, needed help after the death of a mate and “Omegas have a natural, healing energy. They can soothe each other in ways an alpha or beta simply can’t.” But omegas can't live in the same pack and usually reject each other. I was- more than anything- looking forward to seeing how that would play out. Would Brin and Violet distrust and reject each other, or heal and come to trust each other? I liked Aris and Cam. Han grated on me- but he had a lot of pressure on his shoulders. I found the story fascinating and couldn't wait to see how things would turn out. 5 stars.

so, i've read dub-con before. hell, i've even read non-con before, but this?? this was not dub-con! this felt so disgusting, i hated myself for finishing this book and giving it a chance bc she's like "dont do it" and he's like "lemme manipulate her with my scent bc im pack alpha and i can do whatever i want" yea fuck you han

and she's so easily manipulated, like what?? i thought she was gonna fight harder, and even try to escape, but she doesnt??? and she starts liking han?? like, i get cameron, brinner, and aris, cause they dont do much with her at the beginning, but han??? nah, idc if she was an omega who hasn't had dick for over a decade, she should've protested, cried, idk man, not be creaming 😭

i hate this book so much, and it's a shame because the plot is really good, the ending is like "yea, you go bitch" and her connections with the other pack members are strong and endearing, but that one moment just brings the book to the "will never read again" pile.
