My writing covers a wide range, with fiction being my favorite to create, with two dozen or so titles under my belt. There are 21 titles in my YA interactive Try Not to Die series and 30 more in the works. I also have two nonfiction titles, both inspired by a reckless lifestyle, playing Ivy League football, and battering the hell out of my brain as an unsuccessful MMA fighter and boxer. Unlocking the Cage is the largest sociological study of MMA fighters to date and TBI or CTE aims to spread awareness and hope to others that suffer with traumatic brain injury symptoms.

I live in sunny California with my wife, two kids, five cats, and one demon. Derek. He makes special appearance on my social media

You can find this review and all my others over at Read Book. Repeat.

It's here! The Metal festival of the century! Get your battle jackets ready for the pit because it's going to go OFF! Are you ready for Dethfest?

This anthology was an absolute banger!! Born from the Try not to die at Dethfest choose your own adventure for adults style book. I haven't read the dethfest one, but it didn't stop me from enjoying this SO MUCH!

Each story is written by a different author, and they have each written from one band's point of view. I loved the different kinds of stories that we got, and I love how each story together built such a big picture. I read this across the weekend of Good Things festival because I was having massive FOMO. I don't even like festivals, but I had serious FOMO, and I feel like reading this across the weekend of a festival just hit different. It honestly felt like I was there, and because so many of my friends were posting about Good Things, it felt like it was actually Dethfest happening which was AWESOME.

Each story was different from the next and I loved how they mentioned other bands that featured in the anthology and random stuff they'd heard about other weird stuff that were happening around the festival. I can't pick a favourite story because I honestly loved them all. This has given me a list of authors that I need to check out, this is what I love about anthologies, it allows you to try an author without committing to a novel.

If you love metal, festivals and horror, give this one a crack, you won't regret it!

Awesome collection of stories!

I loved this book! I really enjoyed reading all of the stories. I especially liked “B is for Brother” and “Phantasmagoria Ursus “ and “Die Forever.” I thought it was cool how some events from stories were mentioned in other stories (like with the bear). The stories are written in different styles as well as going from mild horror to extreme horror. I loved the variety and the creativity with these stories! They were definitely enjoyable to read.

Metal and Horror? What more could you want from a book!? The stories included in this book are gross, intense, wild, sad, and amazing! I could not put it down! Some of the stories I wish would've been a little longer but they were all incredible!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. I read the book "Try Not to Die: Dethfest" so I thought I'd read this one also. I didn't find it very entertaining; the book just dragged on. This one was definitely not for me.

Absolutely loved this! So many great authors tell the story of a metal fest that gets gory from different points of view. A lot of my favorite authors were in on this. Combining my love for horror and music with very talented writers, I couldn't ask for anything better!

Thank you to all the authors and creative people involved in this book.

This collection/ novel is written more like a book. It's one of the best collaborations that I have read of the anthology books I have read. Believe me, I have read quite a few since joining Books of Horror.

I won this book from Jay Bower in his Facebook group Bower's Basement of Humanity.

There are 15 stories / chapters, each written by different authors. What makes this book unique is the way it was written. Each chapter moves the reader along in a coherent way that makes a lot of logical sense. I really enjoyed this collection and would like to read more anthologies like it.

The mayham that goes wrong during the concert reminds me of Woodstock 1999 and other events similar.
