Lottie Lindberg and long-time, loyal friend and sleuthing sidekick Esme Loring, are invited to attend Lord Bloodmoore’s annual Twelve Days of Christmas celebration. They arrive at the famed Bloodmoore Manor expecting to partake in a week of good wine, fine dining, and fun-filled holiday festivities. What they get is something very different.

Entering the strange and secret-filled manor, Esme and Lottie can’t help but feel uneasy—a feeling that does not improve once they become acquainted with the manor’s oddly extravagant host. Not only does Lord Bloodmoore appear to be extremely eccentric, he’s quite possibly failing in the faculty department as well. And his choice of fellow guests is simply bizarre.

As the festivities begin, it becomes vehemently clear that none of guests like each other. In fact, several appear to be outright rivals, while rumor has it another pair is having an affair. Meanwhile, something truly foul is afoot in the manor that eventually leads to MURDER.

Snowed in, and awaiting the delayed arrival of Inspector Sterling Stone, it is up to Lottie and Esme to investigate. Will they be able to unpick the puzzle of Christmas clues to figure out who’s behind the killing before the murderer gets away?

A 12 days of Christmas week long event held in a Home that is Halloween worthy. Missing past residents, hunting guns in every room, taxidermy animals all over, including mixed animal parts. There is a lot of angst among the other guests. It seems they all are familiar with each other where Lottie and Esme know no one. Again, Sterling is on a mission while the ladies attempt to solve who is hurting the other guests. Deep blizzard snow is the least of their worries. Who is the dark figure Lottie has spotted running away from the mansion? Will Lottie and Esme solve the mystery of the building and its' mysterious occupants? You will just have to read to find out!

This is a fun, entertaining read. I enjoyed the mystery and the way that it played out. The various characters are quirky and all added to my enjoyment of the story in their own way. I love that the female amateur sleuth solved the mystery and didn’t have it fall into her lap. The holiday theme aspect and how it was woven into the story is really cool. The book is easy to read and get into.
