He’s a man anyone can count on. Can he win in a fight against vicious gangs and heartless agendas?
Texas Hill Country. Jack Sage always has your back. So hearing shots and sounds of battle close by, the steadfast marshal rushes to the rescue of a woman defending her children and home against a ruthless group of outlaws. But his mission to protect turns tragic when the attackers burn the place down and kidnap the oldest daughter.
Teaming up with a detachment of Texas Rangers to track down the eleven-year-old and her brutal abductors, Jack discovers other girls have been recently abducted from their families… and some even killed. And when he uncovers evidence it’s all part of a sinister plan, the veteran soldier vows to leave no innocent behind.
How far will this diehard lawman have to go to render justice?
Return of the Star is the thrilling third book in the Jack Sage Western series. If you like loyal men, sweeping settings of western prairies, and surprising twists and turns, then you’ll love Donald L. Robertson’s unflinching adventure.
I am a retired Southwest Airlines pilot. My wife Paula and I, live with our Chihuahua, Gabe, in Mesa, Arizona in a 55+ Golf Resort even though we don't play golf. It affords my wife a very active lifestyle while I spend my time writing. As a child, I enjoyed going to the Saturday matinee and spending the day watching westerns and daydreaming about the old west. I shared a passion with one of my aunts and read every western I could get my hands on. John Wayne was my favorite actor and Louis L'Amour my favorite writer. I miss those days where the good guys win, they treat the ladies right, have honor and are trustworthy. So, in about 2014, I started writing my own westerns and became quite shocked that people enjoyed them. I am so thankful to those of you who read my books, take the time to write reviews and email me. John Wayne said it best when he said "without you, I wouldn't be here". Please accept my deepest appreciation.
I agree with many other reviewers, I need more Donald L Robertson books. My Scottish grandpa (deceased) is Washington O. Robertson—I wonder if we are related? I have read all of Louis L’Amour books, CJ, Pettit, and R. O. Lane and many more. I just discovered Robertson’s book list. Unfortunately, in a short time I have read them all and I wish there were more. They are so entertaining and enjoyable. I was up until 2:30 reading this one. I hope Robertson is writing more because we’ve yet to learn about his former wife and son. We did find out that he had a baby son that died. When will we learn about the mystery of the pocket watch with the Emerald on the front? July can’t come soon enough. Loved the little girls he rescued and his interaction with them.
Just when you think the legend of Jack Sage couldn't get anymore impressive, he finds himself wearing the star of a Texas Ranger, having come across a crime so heinous that even the hardened people of the Hill Country and west Texas are shocked by its vile wickedness. The book spans from the rolling hills of Texas to the Pacific waters of El Tiburan and the booming city that overlooks the deadly currents of the bay. However there's more danger than the waters in San Francisco's back streets and high society. Will the Texan lawman be up to it or is he finally over his head? I will say hands down that while there isn't a weak story in this new series this is the best one yet. As always I am happy to have read it and already am looking forward to the next one.
This is another great book from Don Robertson. His characters are always well developed and believable. I always buy his books because I know that I am going to reread them because I do. He is one of my favorite authors... up there with R. O. Lane and Louis L'Amour. I just wish that he wrote faster because I always read his books the first day I get them.
Book three in the Jack Sage western series did not disappoint one bit! This tale was enjoyed by this reader from beginning to the end. There is some exciting action and a story that you might even find in our country today. Trafficking humans, especially children is a heinous thing and it was dealt with in this story in fine fashion! Can’t wait for Mr. Robertson’s next book!
Mr. Robertson certainly knows how to "spin a yarn" so to speak. Just finished Book #3 and I'm jumping right into Book #4 titled "The Hanging Star." I read a good number of westerns and this series is as good or better than most I have read in the last couple years! Thanks Donald Robertson! I'm looking forward to this last book sir.
I love this book ! I can tell Mr Robertson is fine man by reading this series . Jack Sage is also a good person but no nonsense. I'm starting the fourth and final book of the series and I'm getting sad because I really enjoyed reading the series, it's hard for me to find western authors that I really appreciate
A good storyline. Sometimes took a long way around to get the story moving on, but still enjoyable. i had read later books by author previously. Reference was made to this book so now on track. Stories are interesting as the same behaviour is happening to as it did when these stories "live". Man will never learn from history!!!
Another great story by a talented writer. The action is fast-paced so the pages just fly by. This is the third in the series and I can't wait for the fourth to be released.
Great Author and love the story lines. Jack Sage is the kind of person I’d love to meet/know. In today’s world it’s to fine an honest man/person. One willing to risk it all to save others. Good book.
I have read the first two books in this series and really enjoyed them. This one is my favorite so far! Great story, great characters, and plenty of action! Going to start reading number four tonight!
Jack sage finally makes it to California. Jack is on a mission to stop A young girl trafficking ring. He makes good for friends along the way. And accomplishes his goals... Plenty of action Greed And perversion.
They're not stealing cows in this book they're stealing little girls. Jack Sage to the rescue. Great story by a great writer. That you Donald L. Robertson
I really enjoy Robertson’s books. I have read several and they have all been worth the time it took to read them. Really looking forward to the next in this series.
