I listened to the audiobook hoping I would regain the magic of the first book. This second book aggregates me to no end. Why just why… you escaped why go back, why not be honest with your kids. I could have just been happy with book 1 and skipped this one.
The characters were so evil and vile that I nearly stopped numerous times. Hateful people and some things just weren't believable. (Jackson's behavior wasn't consistent).
I have to say, the Last Mrs. Parrish was one of my absolute favorites by Liv Constantine!!! I gave it 5 stars last year, and I give it another 5 today, I loved it!! However, the Next Mrs. Parrish is so different that it has brought down the overall rating of this series for me!!!
The last book has made me really dislike every single character, which in turn makes it very hard to get through the book. It seems soo boring and repetitive. There's no excitement, there's no thrill, and it seems like the wives just keep trading places with each other and suffering through all the bullshit that Jackson puts them through. I honestly can't even keep reading because I'm soo annoyed that they haven't gotten away from him. I'm almost done, so I will post a full review on the book under its title!
I actually read this out of order, so I really liked it I could follow it very well and figured out what happened in the first book without reading it.
Ended up really liking this book! It did take me about 100 pages to get into it 😉… but definitely got my attention! Really liked the ending, looking forward to reading the next one.
A wild ride of thriller, suspense, drama, some bizarre romance…and more.
When Amber Patterson turns up in Daphne and Jackson Parrish’s lives, everything changes.
Amber is a great villain; excellent ASPD representation.
Amber’s levels and layers of plans have layers of their own.
Daphne is annoying—until we get her POV in the first book. She is much better in book two, though some of her actions strain credulity.
Daisy Ann is nails-on-chalkboard irritating.
Jackson sucks; love his ending.
The real beef with the second book is Amber’s ending. It’s scary, towards the end, but a touch more resolution for our Resident Bad Girl would make the second novel a 5-star read as well.
(The Last Shot, a prequel novel showing Amber’s origins, is also recommended reading.)
The Last Mrs. Parrish (5 ⭐️) The Next Mrs. Parrish (4 ⭐️)
I preferred this to the first book. It’s an easy, undemanding read, which is exactly what I want after a long day at work. The short chapters help it move along quickly and make it easy to dip in and out without losing track.
It’s not a book that really stays with you, and it’s certainly not something I’d rush to recommend as a standout thriller. That said, it’s bearable, readable, and does the job if you want something straightforward that doesn’t require much concentration.
Not gripping, not clever, but perfectly fine as light escapism when your brain is tired.
(I didn’t actually finish this book in one day I just forgot to update) I’m honestly kind of disappointed with the book. I didn’t really start to enjoy it until half way through then, I will say, it had a shock factor. But other than that it wasn’t super worth my time reading and seeing it’s the same concept and format as the housemaid, I’d recommend that over this. And I won’t bother reading the second book.
The Last Mrs Parrish was hard to get started for me. It took a few days to get through the first 100 pages. Wasn’t flowing for me and dragging on. But thanks to a full day of flying and waiting I was able to finish this book. The 2nd half (or section) was amazing. It couldn’t put it down. The Next Mrs Parrish just kept it going. I couldn’t put that book down. I completed it in one day. There was a moment in this book that I gasped out loud at what I was reading. Sooo good!
I found this book to be very interesting. It had a lot of twists and turns and I kept wondering how it was possibly going to end. That came to light in the last couple of chapters, but it was really interesting. The manipulations that were made and the secrets that were exposed. The characters were a little over the top and the constant descriptions of wealth and ambulance got a little old, but I still found it pretty engrossing.
First book was good 2nd book was a lot of different characters being brought in and eventually coming together in the end to take down Jackson and Amber. The ending didn’t really move me but overall it was a good read. There’s different POVs adding in Daisy now and her pov, as she’s the daughter of the man Amber married previously. This book was a lot but i had to read it since i fell in love with the 1st book
Very difficult to finish this book. I thought about stopping many times. Story is very drawn out with evil characters. Thought the story could’ve been cut in half . It was nice to see in the last few chapters that Daphne wasn’t as clueless as they made her out to be. Will not be reading the second book
If you read “The Last Mrs Parrish” you’ll want to follow up with “The Next Mrs Parrish”. Great follow-up with twists and turns, and pasts that just won’t go away. Your favorite (or least favorite) characters return, along with a newcomer. Who do you trust? Do you trust anyone? Worth the read…but don’t read it first!
I listened to both these books. They were so good. Jackson is married to Daphne but her best friend, Amber, wants Jackson. There are lots of secrets in this marriage and lots of twists and turns. I would definitely read both of these.
I enjoyed both books. I like her twist, plot changers, the strength of the leading lady. Loved how it all came together in the end. I cried, laughed, got angry, I got scared, and I got really pissed.
I decided to DNF the first one at 18%. I tried to get into it but I kept zoning out, that’s how much it was boring me. I’ll try to revisit it in the future but for now there are other books I wanna get to for spooky szn
This book was really hard for me to get through. I felt like it didn’t start getting good till halfway through by then I didn’t really want to read it! I finished it. It was a good storyline, but not my favorite book I wouldn’t recommend.
Loved this book and the way the story developed. Easy to read, and wanted to keep reading. I didn’t like some characters and their actions, but loved reading about it and seeing how everything played out.
These books were okay. The plot lines were interesting, but I’m not huge fan of the author. A lot of her characters seem to lack depth. Comparable to bad acting in a great period piece. Plots there, writings not
Read half of it and found out via book club that the second half was very intense (S.A. between husband and wife, etc.). Main character was very self-absorbed and horrible which made it difficult to read at times.
