This book has a good bit of trigger warnings, and for good reason. If you want to read a book specifically with these topics, then this book is for you, because there is nothing else that is in this story. Another reviewer put it perfect: “This feels like 3 chapters from an already written novel”. In the beginning I felt like I was missing so much and by the end I was even more clueless. Where and why did the mafia come in?? Scout seemed like he was two completely different characters. Nice, soft, caring best friend in beginning and then mafia BDSM baddie. Also, the cliffhanger and plot twist actually infuriates me. It’s only a ~50 page novella - there shouldn’t be a dramatic cliffhanger with promises of another book. Just write longer novella or even novel. My biggest complaint has spoilers, and is coming from someone who has been SA’ed so read on next page with caution of triggers and knowing it will be spoiled.

Disclaimer: I know that everyone has their own reactions and ways of healing after being sexually assaulted, but this novella was the exact opposite of my experience and was jaw-dropping to read in a horrendous way.
FMC was raped and has nightmares about it, but her best friend/roommate (MMC) comes home apologizes for being late and then he just ties her up and fucks her HARD and extremely kinky-like. It was completely out of left field. Neither of them had even expressed interest in each other otherwise and I felt like I was missing pages. Adding onto the fact that she was a virgin previous to her SA who is very innocent and seemingly has very little knowledge on BDSM, I felt that there was no no no way that she would have had NO emotional breakdowns from how the rape scene was compared to how her best friend treated her first real sexual experience. I say this especially because of how bad her nightmares were described and for how long. He didn’t care at all about her past and her reactions to nightmares which have me the BIGGEST ick. And then she didn’t react to this in any way, and her lack of reaction is very very weird.

Ending with a car crash? Really? For a novella? I have never been infuriated after reading a book before, but this is the first book I would give ZERO stars if I could. I never like to talk down on an author because I know how hard writing a book is, but I cannot think of a single positive thing about this book at all.
(I know that my experience is not the only experience but this writing was just appalling for me, and not only because I have been SA’ed. Despite being SA’ed, I do not consider myself to have a SA Trigger. My problems with this is terrible writing.)

I can not believe this book. It was so amazing. The chemistry was there. The drama was there. It's a little dark but so well done. The characters were amazingly done. The friends to lovers and fast burn tropes were well done. And the ending. I can't even begin to put into words how I felt with the ending. And I don't want to spoil it. But you got to read it.

Birdie and scout are bestfriends , they have known each other since they where in diapers. They learned to walk and talk together, they do everything together. Both are so in love with each other, but the pair don't know how the other feels, none of them have made that move. Both will end up staying that way if they done make a move and take that risk.

Birdie went through a horrible trauma, she had something taken away from her, she has nightmares about it still, but scout presence makes her feel safe and the nightmares at bay.
One night he's working late and when he gets home , she's having a nightmare, he feels so bad because if he wasn't home late none off this would be happening. He goes to her to soothe and settle her down, assuring her that she's safe and ok. She begs for him to make her forget, and makes her forget he does. They finally pass that line off friendship. So much happens and disaster strikes and I'm left here like wtf just happened and jaw fully on the ground!!

I loved this novella, I love them they both melt my heart. This story is fast paced, wonderfully written, with great characters, spicy and more. And miss gray I want to know what the flip was that ending!! You just throat punched me with that one. I need to know what happened. I can't wait for the rest. I highly recommend grabbing it, you won't be disappointed at all. Ms gray hats off to you girl, everything you write is blooming amazing and I'm so glad to be apart off your team.

I honestly loved the short story and can’t wait for more of it. My God the MMC on this novella has a mouth on him but is also sweet. The FMC is a sweet girl with some hard past trauma that she’s working through it! The end of the book will scared you and honestly leave you a bit traumatize, can’t wait to have more of their story.

I loved her last book I read so I knew I had to read this one! I perpetually go for a holiday read any chance I get and this one was perfect and I was able to read it in a day. I personally think you can even read it if you are in the middle of a book and it is perfect read for Valentine’s Day. A story of childhood friends to lovers and the spice was absolutely panty soaking! With a sprinkle of mystery, a dash of surprise…
And a cliffhanger that will leave you screaming, you are going to be the end of me Lexi Gray😂

This book!!!! 😳😳😳 When I tell you the last chapter I was all engrossed in it and I’m like what’s going to happen next….then BAM!💥 A flipping cliffhanger!!! 😩 😩 😩 I need to know more like right now. In the beginning I felt like it was a little chaotic but after the first few chapters it mellowed out and became more clear or what all was happening.
Dont sleep on this book! Just be prepared for a cliffhanger.

The authors note at the beginning of the book said don’t be mad at me but I had no idea why until the end! I didn’t realize this was a duology until the end so beware of the cliffhanger.

It literally had me blushing. The way scout is so possessive over birdie and the way birdie just listens, as she should🥴😂 there was still plot for the girlies that don’t prefer down right spicy! A very short quick read, but very much worth it.

The final novella in this series came completely out of left field for me. However, I’m not mad about it! The story had me hooked from the very beginning and ended with my jaw on the floor.
I love the relationship between Scout and Birdie. They have so many different layers to their relationship and they are so well developed.

3.5 ⭐️ Quick novella with mostly spice. The plot is dark and it ends on a cliffhanger. The friends to lovers shift happens in a flash.
I did notice some editing errors starting right on the first page in my physical copy but it looks like most of them have been fixed on Kindle. I ended up switching between the two while reading because of it.
One thing that got to me was how everyone treats the main character like she’s this delicate princess after experiencing something (3 whole years prior) They have their reasons but the persistent coddling was a little excessive.
The darker elements and the cliffhanger ending definitely intrigued me.

This was a super short & spicy novella. I loved that there was a background story going on too. I hate that it ended abruptly but I will definitely be looking for book two to come out this summer. Birdie & Scout are best friends and roommates and have known each other since they were babies. They finally get together and sparks fly but there is danger lurking and miscommunication happening.
It was a super short novella so things happened super fast. I enjoyed this and it’s nice to have these in between the long books.

I haven't read anything else by Lexi Gray but if this is any indication, I'm going to have to. Birdie and Scout are perfect for each other, both comforting and complementing each other's needs. But warning: it ends on a cliffhanger leading into her next book. The ending of this novella nearly stopped my heart. Actually, it might have. Maybe I'm dreaming and it's not really over and I don't have to wait until the summer to find out what happens next. Also loved the Sofia, Massimo and Viviana cameos!

Fantastic Story!!!!!!!
This is a quick read but extremely good. We meet Birdie and Scout. They have been best friends forever. Birdie is a sweet and kind lady who loves Scout very much. We quickly see their relationship growing and there have been some dark spots in the time. The story is well written and developed. There was at least one place that had a couple of lines repeating each other but otherwise was well written. The story comes to a pretty major cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

What a sweet story with so much spice! I love how it picks up where Corrupting Cupid left off, moving on to new characters. Scout was a great background character and now we get to see into his life. He and Birdie are such opposites, plus you get that friends to lovers trope in there with a little slow burn, and it’s just so much fun. I was totally into that drama at the end, but that cliffhanger ending has me feeling a little salty! Summer can’t get here fast enough!
