Rate this book
25 years after Little Kiss of Snow...Welcome to Creature Cafe 2.0

Creatures of all kinds go to the Barista to find love, including the broody vampire professor, Malachi.
Malachi is ready to find the one. With Valentine’s Day near, lust is in the air…only it’s for a rebellious human the professor shouldn’t be with.

After a bad first date, Leo decides rules are made to be broken. Soon, Malachi and Leo are keeping one unholy secret, the kind that could destroy their careers. The kind that an enemy desperately wants to get their hands on…

Determined to hold on to their love at first bite, Malachi and Leo will pay the price for one little drop of blood…

This novella has the following:

M/M
Vampire Professor
bad first date
love to hate you
Fated Mates
Valentine’s Day
spontaneous vs serious

The Creature Cafe Series follows the Barista and who he matchmakes. Each book has a different monster finding their true love, tons of spicy scenes, and special *ahem* appendages. Books 12-21 can be read without the first 11 books, but still recommended to read in order.

While this is book 12 in a series it can be read as a stand-alone. This takes place 25 years after the first 11 books in a brand new cafe in a new city. For anyone not familiar with this series, it’s about a grim reaper named The Barista who is also a matchmaker of humans and monsters. Monsters come to find their fated mates and they go on a blind date that leads to them having a lot of kinky sex and they fall in love. This one was a bit different than the other ones because Malachi and Leo already know each other and are not excited when they realize they are each other’s dates. Malachi is Leo’s teacher and thinks Leo is bratty and doesn’t apply himself fully in his class whereas Leo thinks Malachi has a stick up his ass and needs to let go a little.

The only issue with these books is how short they are so the instalove is quite intense. This one felt way more insta than some of the others but the kinky sex definitely made up for it. This author is so damn creative with the kinks they use and this one has Protocol Play which I had never seen before. Malachi had a set of rules and etiquette he wanted Leo to follow while in his house like wearing a latex maid outfit and cleaning his kitchen. He would make suggestions to Leo through his mind and Leo would obey because he wanted to but also due to the mind control of the vampire. The kinks are definitely what keep me coming back to this series and the fact they are short and perfect to read in between angsty books.

Here’s what to expect in this book: Hello, my little monster loving creature.  This is just a friendly reminder to make sure to check this before reading.  This story has impact play, biting, fated mates, maid outfits, professor x college student relationship, somnophilia, sensory deprivation, cock cages, CNC, free use, protocol play, primal hunting, degradation, praise, instalust, instalove and more. If any of those things are not for you—do not read this story.  If those sound right, then maybe you need help.

They definitely sounded right to me so I guess I need the help 😂😂 I also loved the dick piercings. 🍆🍆

Creature Cafe is BACK and I personally am so excited.

📕 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Little Sip of Blood by Clio Evans

📙 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: The Creature Cafe series. Books 1-10 are a character series with an interconnected storyline. Book 11 kicks off a “next generation” type series with a similar premise.

📗 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: E-book ARC on Kindle. 🆓 on KU.

📘 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲: Paranormal romance

📔 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: Monster erotica, fated mates, BDSM vibes, enemies-to-lovers, insta-love, biting and 🩸

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Malachi is a vampire and an esteemed professor. Leo is his student. They can’t be together - no matter how much Leo’s blood sings to Malachi. Until they both solicit The Barista to help find their mate - and end up sitting across the table from one another.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: These books were some of my favorites of 2022 because they fill this smutty void I have in my soul. Fun reads with a variety of monsters, some heartfelt moments and a whole ton of spice… I need these in my life. And as she kicks off the next iteration of the series, it’s clear Clio Evans is giving us more of the wonderful vibes we got in the first place.

Leo and Malachi’s story was a great kickoff. I am so intrigued by how this new story will continue to roll on, and already love the setup for the next book.

𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: 4/5 🌶🌶🌶🌶

3.5 stars rounded to 4

OK so this was just straight up delicious kinky vampire smut until the 69% mark and then all of a sudden it felt like I was reading a whole separate book. No sex/high drama. It came out of left field and felt very rushed.

I’d give five huge stars to the first 2/3 of the book and three stars for the last third of the book.

And we are back to the creature cafe...25 years later.

This is a review of an ARC given to me by the author in exchange for a review. All my opinions are mine

When I saw that Clio would be publishing more creature cafe books, I was happy af! And the teasers I saw on instagram, phew!!
Readers are in for a hot, smutty ride 😋. As always, read the Trigger warnings .

This book is about a Nutty vampire professor and the slutty naughty student. Well paired, by the way. I think it can be read as a stand-alone, but there would be characters from previous books you might want to get familiar with before starting this one.
I do recommend this book. It was a short, sweet read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶🌶🌶.5/5

TW - car crash (on page, non fatal, broken bones), phlebotomy (non consensual, not by either MC), graphic violence

CW - impact play, biting, somnophilia, sensory deprivation, cock cages, CNC, free use, protocol play, primal (hunting), degradation, edging, D/s

Tropes - MM, paranormal, novella, fated mates, valentine's, teacher x student

This was hot and no one is surprised by that given that it was written by Clio Evans. I was so excited to be back in this universe and I'm Clio is giving us more books.

Malachi (MMC) is a vampire professor and has been holding himself back from Leo (MMC) for ages given that his blood calls to him. Imagine his surprise when the Barista sets him up on a date with the one and only Leo 😈.

Fated mates typically comes with insta love and that's what we get here but I wasn't even mad. These guys were hot and Malachi's rampage when shit hit the fan was 🥵

I really really want the Barista's kids to get books because the snippets we got from them had me like 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀

Scale:
⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite
⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

🫑 - no smut
🌶 - no point
🌶🌶 - mediocre at best
🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot
🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW

The grumpy vampire professor and the bratty human student. More Creature Cafe goodness. We get to see some of our favourites again too. This was a short, fun, smexy read, but with a first date gone wrong and a bit of lovely kinky fvckery. I loved the primal scene. Check TW.

if you’re looking for a short, spicy, one handed read for valentine’s day….. this is it 🥵

Leo and Malachi were just ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Malachi was hesitant to be set up with Leo because he was his student but they got over that pretty fast and then it was full sexy speed ahead. i love a good submissive scene and something about Leo in that latex maid outfit 😮‍💨🥵🫠🤤 primal isn’t really my thing but it could be if a sexy vampire was chasing me…….

the way Malachi calls Leo baby just makes me melt and honestly i hope we see them in the next book because i can’t get enough 😭🫣

Okay, I’m a BIG fan of Clio’s work, have been for a long time and this new addition to the Creature Cafe series is absolutely NO exception to my love for her and her writing!

‘Little Drop of Blood’ is spicy, steamy, kinky and sprinkled with some vampiric bloodlust…and did I mention it was spicy? Believe me, you will NOT be disappointed with this book, it’s literally filled to the brim with all the delicious things swirling around in the mind of a temptrous vampire who just wants a mate to satisfy him (and his loneliness)…enter the Barista.

This novella is on the shorter side of things size wise and, although it does have some of a plot going on, it’s pretty HEAVY on the spice (and if it isn’t spicy scenes it’s ELUDING to spicy scenes). ‘Little Drop of Blood’ is a MM monster/paranormal romance between a vampire and a human — so yes, it does involve quite a bit of scenes revolving around blood, but trust me, even if blood isn’t quite your thing, this book will still leave you THIRSTY.

Malachi and Leo are two individuals who crave something more and inevitably find what they’re missing in their life’s with each other. They’re as sweet together (including their banter, both flirtatious and seething) as they are hot and watching their relationship develop on the page was simply delightful.

‘Little Drop of Blood’ is VERY heavy on a few themes that could be triggering for some people. A lot of them revolve around the spicy scenes (and more importantly the Dom/sub dynamic) and I can’t label them all, but I will do my best to list, what I feel, are the most important below.

━━ † ━━

⚔️TRIGGER LIST⚔️

— Explicit M/M sex scenes
— Impact play
— Dom/sub dynamics
— Somnophilia
— Sensory Deprivation
— CNC
— Free Use
— Protocol play
— Primal hunting/chasing
— Mild knife play
— Depictions of feeding/drinking/draining blood
— Kidnapping/abduction
— Murder (on page)
— Graphic violence, blood and gore
— Use of sex toys (cock cages, nipple clamps)
— Degradation

━━ † ━━

‘Little Drop of Blood’ is high, HIGH heat and simply dripping with an alluring vampire/human romance intertwined with all the kinky goodness. Top that off with fated mates, professor/college student romance, “touch him I’ll rip your head off” vibes, maid uniforms, cock cages and all the steamy dynamics to a adrenaline pumping Dom/sub relationship and you’ve got yourself a HELL of a good time. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves their romances darker but still sprinkled with some good ol’ sweet romance. 5/5 stars!

Ok, this was THE PERFECT book to get me out of a deep ass slump. Fast paced right off the mark, a bit of enemies to lovers, AND professor/student, AND age gap, AND species differences. I loved it so much!!!

Malachi and Leo (our H’s) are the sweetest, most wholesome pair evaaaar! Malachi, such a tortured and grumpy vampire professor longing for love and companionship. Leo, a feisty and challenging rebel of a college student searching for someone he can finally call home. They’re so freaking cute together, I can’t 😭.

This is a novella but woooo it still packs a smutty punch!!! Their chemistry, their steam, their everythiiiing was off the charts 🥵. I’ve read a few of her books and every single one of them has scenes that would make the most stoic of peeps violently blush 🤣. Little Drop of Blood is definitely a re-read for future me. It’s the perfect little quickie read for Valentines Day 😉.

Thank you Clio Evans for having me on as an arc reader! And for making me laugh and giggle and clutch my damn imaginary pearls 😂. Every single one of your books has been a hit for me, I can’t wait for what’s next!

If you love creatures that go bump in the night, if you love fated mates, if you love HUNTING FOR “FUNSIES” BY MOONLIGHT (why yes. yes I do). If you love a grumpy old vamp and a sunshine fiery brat, Little Drop of Blood is for you 🖤.

"You can’t tell anyone about this.”
“I know.” This time, he smirked. “Our little unholy secret, hmm?”

Okay. I did NOT plan to jump into this next set of books in the Creature Cafe series so soon, but something told me that if I didn't try book 12 soon after we finished buddy reading the whole CC series in 2024 that it would sit on my TBR for forever. Well, I dipped my toes in... and I am so so pleasantly surprised!

There was more to the professor than met the eye. I’d glimpsed a spark, and now I knew there was a flame underneath the exterior of icy disdain, one I wanted to burn in.

Professor x student, with all sorts of fun, spicy little tropes mixed in gave a fun set up for human Leo and vamp Malachi! I really enjoyed their dynamic, and I found Malachi to be a lot more well-rounded then the monstrous heroes/heroines from the earlier books in this series. I also loved that it wasn't just Is it the evolution of CE's writing?

Either way, I definitely plan to continue with a monthly read from this series - Little Heart of Stone next in Feb! We briefly met the human FMC in this story, and I love a good Nurse!rep ;)

Wow am I happy to be back in the Baristaverse!!! This was the universe that fully cemented my love for not only monster romances but for the incredibly talented Clio Evans as well. And to be back with a whole new generation of monsters and their mates is just fantastic. It truly feels like coming home. This is my comfort series for sure.

Malachi is a vampire professor looking for his mate and there’s no one better to go to than Daddy Barista who is the local monster matchmaker and coffee shop owner. But when he sees his blind date Malachi thinks there’s been a mistake because it’s his student Leo.
You can guess what follows if you’ve ever read a book in this series before: it’s a lot of kink, consent, fated mates, instalove, and a hint of blood and danger.

What to expect:
-MM romance
-Vampire Professor x human student
-spanking
-under the desk business
-pierced 🍆
-crawling
-“clean up the mess you just made”
-protocol play
-maid outfit
-clamps & a 🍆 cage
-light somnophilia
-CNC & primal
-sensory deprivation
-biting…lots of biting & blood drinking

TW/CW: one of the MMCs is kidnapped/involved in a brutal car crash/and gets his blood drained involuntarily (not done by the other MMC)

Meh 🤷🏻‍♀️

What can I say; I think I have read most if not all of Clio Evans’ work and to be honest this is in the bottom half of her work.

I get it, its only 100 and some pages, its not meant to be deep, its meant to be entertaining, and yet? I wasn’t.

I found it difficult for me to get into the characters and the story. Like honestly the best part of this book might also be the cringiest bit, and it’s the parallels/references to twilight.

I also understand when it comes to fated mates, the authors are BANKING on the insta-lust/insta-love and Clio even puts it in the content warning list, but there are times where insta love and insta lust are done well, and this isn’t one of those times. Malachi and Leo have only physical chemistry, but there was barely any time to get to know them outside the physical attraction. We barely get to know why Malachi “hates” Leo so much let alone anything else.

Everything else was just fine. I know Clio can do better because I have seen them do better.

Oh my, did I miss our beloved Barista and his matches. Insta-love is up there on my top tropes list, and this felt so appropriate for the Valentines Day season. I didn't think Clio Evans could write anything kinkier than the original Creature Cafe book series we all love, but I was proven wrong and am extremely pleased. I already can't wait for the next book to drop!! I have an idea for what type of creatures we may be dealing with, and I'm very excited about that...

It was so GOOD to be back in the creature cafe world and see what some of the old characters were up to and see where it would take the new ones. In typically Clio fashion, this was kinky AF and some how she always finds new kinks to explore and make them sound so interesting. I cannot wait for more in this series

Cons:

1. Too freaky for me. Found my limit. So much happened that I don't want to know
2. I have no clue what was going on
3. The literal Devil. From The Bible. I don't want to elaborate

Pros:
1. Too short for me to be bored
2. Vague found family arc (not in the weird way thank god)

(Arc review)

⭐️ 4,5/5

It’s been 25 years and creatures of all kind are still going to the Barista for love. Like professor Malachi, a vampire who’s ready to be someone’s sir.

Barista introduces him to Leo, his polar opposite. But Leo is not only his student. It’s the student he doesn’t like and the feeling is mutual. That’s how they end up having the first disastrous first date of the series, lol.

But they end up finding common ground, if you know what I mean.

This is a short and funny novella, with delightful characters and very kinky stuff. It was a great return to Creature Cafe and I can’t wait to see what else Clio has in store for us, because all the new stuff and people are definitely interesting. Color me intrigued.

Short, sweet, and kinky!

Clio always writes a knockout book -- whether 500 pages or 100, I'm reading a Clio book the second it's out. And I was lucky to read an arc of Little Drop of Blood, which comes out on February 9th!

Malachi and Leo's dynamic was so, so much fun to read. The immediate connection felt genuine and real, and I loved watching them fall fast and hard for each other. The student/professor dynamic was sexy and I loved how it all worked out in the end -- plus the little bit of high stakes action had me LIVING.

The spice was spicy and kinky and incredible and I loved every second. Malachi and Leo's dynamic was unique and fun to read, 10/10 recommend reading about Leo in a sexy maid outfit. Truly.

Plus Clio wrote one of my all time favorite lines into this book which I won't reveal now but I'll tell y'all on February 9th because I just about screamed.

So basically -- go preorder Little Drop of Blood. You'll love it.

Be sure to check content warnings!

I've been waiting for some vampire smut from this series and this book was pretty good overall. This author really impresses me with the amount of smut/kinks they're able to write about. Obviously, there were some oldy but goody kinks that were explored, but some new ones added too! And the spice doesn't disappoint in this series. This book was on the lower side of spicy scenes, but they're still there and on point when they do happen.

Love that this series can be read separately from the Creature Cafe series #1-11, but you still get references to characters from the previous books and get to see their kids in the future. If I'm not mistaken, Malachi is referenced in the first series, but we don't see that much of him after he turns in his old coven to the Barista.

Definitely worth the read and I'm excited to read all of the different couples that we get from this series and to hear more about our original favorite couples and what they're up to now!

~ STORY 📝 ~

This book is everything it promises to be: a fast-paced, kinky AF monster erotica ~ romance.

The characters are adorable and I felt very close to them super quickly even tho the story is advancing so quickly. I don't know, something about the writing makes everything so tangible. I love the cozy atmosphere of everything around the very spicy scenes.

Also, that's a lot of new kinks I unlocked in only 117 pages 😂

--
My only (minor and very personal) remark is that maybe all the spice is too concentrated in terms of time frame, and since a lot of it is a D/s dynamic, I felt like it was too fast? Backbone of those things is trust and trust between two near-strangers should take more time to get up to.

But also, I get that they share a deep gut feeling about each other since they're fated and everything, so it's really not weird when you think about it. Also, with the double POV, we know everyone is getting exactly what they want and are more than happy about how they get it 😏🔥
--

➡️ NB: It's not required to read book 1-to-11 to read this book

~ SPICE 🌶️ ~

Prepare yourself for a kinky ride bc if you read this book, you're in for :

🩸 impact play
🩸 biting
🩸 somnophilia
🩸 sensory deprivation
🩸 free use
🩸 protocol play
🩸 primal play
🩸 praise x degradation

⬇️ If you're curious and that sounds exciting but you're afraid that it's too much ⬇️

Both MCs are very sweet and no violence is happening between them. Everything is very consensual, the D/s relationship is based on the fact that Leo wants to be submissive. Malachi never forces it out of him. This is a sweet erotica, not a dark one.

Now that being said, if you know you're not into those things, this is simply not a book for you. 😉

It feels SO GOOD to be at Creature Cafe 2.0 where more monster and human matches are being made.

Malachi is a centuries-old vampire currently working as a professor. After being alone for so long he's finally sure of what he wants/needs in a mate and is ready to find them. Especially since his blood has begun boiling over a certain off-limits student that pisses him off as much as he arouses him. So imagine the shock when the blind date, chosen by the Barista, shows up and is the same infuriating student.

Leo has always found monsters fascinating. He doesn't know if he believes in the idea of soulmates but when he gets a call from the Barista to come meet his potential monster mate, he decides why not. He's not expecting it to be his hot but complete jerk teacher. But after a heated meeting, Leo realizes that maybe there is more to his stuffy teacher than he assumed. It would be rude not to at least TRY and seduce him, right? He is his soulmate after all.

These two are heating things up, but will Malachi's past cause him to lose everything before he can even claim it?

I LOVED THIS SO MUCHHHHH. It was everything I've come to love about Clio's writing. I have to admit my favorite part was how Malachi's dominant nature was written. I was MELTING for this man. Like seriously where do I find a vampire who wants to dominate me and dress me up!?
Clio basically owns the "fated mates" genre in my opinion. I have no idea how she constantly writes it but it's never the same.

What to Expect:
-MM

Honest ARC Review: Short, spicy, and deliciously good is the best way to describe this book. We are back years later at the new Creature Cafe location and have our first pairing. Malachi is an old vampire that is ready for the Barista to find his match. He is a college professor and has been fine being alone, that is until Leo joins his class. The human is bratty, smug, annoyingly handsome and smells divine. Leo has become a problem for Malachi so he figures if the Barista can find him his mate then that will distract him from the delicious smelling human. Leo is a human who knows about monsters and is eager to go on a date with one. He isn’t sure he believes is fate and soul mates but figures it doesn’t hurt to go on one date. Imagine the surprise and annoyance when Malachi and Leo meet at Creature Cafe and find out they have been matched. The two of them are very resistant but the Barista knows what he is doing and soon enough they are swept up in a whirl wind romance. Malachi is exactly what I imagine a vampire to be like in modern times. He is broody, uptight, very formal, rich, and has an abundance of knowledge. He doesn’t want anything to do with his student at first but Leo knows exactly how to push him. Leo is such a fun character to read. He is quirky, sassy, and confident. Despite Malachi’s concerns about hurting him Leo trusts him. I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a novella that has a broody romantic vampire, a mouthy and seductive human, edging, mating bite, college student and professor, latex maid outfit, and scorching spice.

“You're just like me. You came here to find someone to love you because you yearn to be cared for. But even the Barista can't help someone so sexually repressed and prudish as you. You're the worst vampire I've ever fucking met. No wonder you're alone.”
-Leo

Clio killed it as always.

This is the next book in the Creature Cafe Series, and it is set 25 years after Little Kiss of Snow. Which is a Christmas CCS anthology. You do not have to read the previous books, but, for the fun of it I highly suggest you read them all. Speaking of which, I LOVED that Meduso was mentioned for a second, he is one of my favorite monsters from this series. 😈

Leo is a bratty human college student, who is looking to find the one with the help of the Barista. Malachi is a dominant vampire college professor, who is looking to find the one with the help of the Barista.

Who knew that they were each other's forever? Well, the Barista for one, but a new character noticed as well.

I loved how bratty and mouthy at times Leo was, and how Malachi not only took charge but punished Leo for it. A brat needs a good tamer at times.

The plot, perfection.
The spice, immaculate.
Chefs kiss.
