The Preface is worth reading on its own, an introduction to this magnificent book of poems, For Echo, and in it we learn how working on oneself or improving the self actually helps others. The poems that stood out most vibrantly and really moved me most were the ones about the author’s daughter. The closing in which the author writes about trust being essential to love is so simple and so necessary, just as there is some form of love to understanding. Many of the poems may be written in what appears to be free verse form yet they glide across the page so rhythmically and there’s plenty of art with enjambment, or where upon the page a word is placed in the lines of poetry.
