Octavius Winslow (1 August 1808 – 5 March 1878), also known as "The Pilgrim's Companion", was a prominent 19th-century evangelical preacher in England and America. A Baptist minister for most of his life and contemporary of Charles Spurgeon and J. C. Ryle, he seceded to the Anglican church in his last decade.
Winslow is always heart searching and challenging, especially if you take the time to slow down and reflect on what he has to say. This book was good. The early chapters challenged my heart. The latter chapters I read of a sense of duty. Not his best known work for a reason I suppose, but worth reading.
Excellent book the author takes you to the heart of Christianity. You must be born again to know God and have the inner life he speaks of. One sight of the crucified saviour imparted by the Holy Spirit will more effectually weaken the power of sin than all other means combined. Heart warming, praise the Lord.
