I make dreams come true...Who knew mine would come wrapped in a hockey jersey? At work, I spend my days brightening the lives of children fighting big battles. But when a wish lands on my desk to meet NHL star Cal Saunders, my heart doesn't just skip a beat - it stops. Why? Because Cal's not just any hockey hero. He's the ex I never got over. I plan to keep my distance. But Cal's persistence is as strong as his thick muscles. Before I know it, I'm missing every block…And dangerously close to falling for him... again. Will we be able to score a second chance at love...Or are we skating on too thin ice? What you can A second chance romance with a smoking hot white boy and a Black woman who is strong and fierce. They'll have a classic enemies to lovers romances and it will have a HEA!
As a black woman, I'm disappointed. This is not the type of representation I seek when choosing something to read. Imani was basic, weak, and generally unimpressive. She came in weak, and there was no character development throughout the story. Cal hardly had to try to get her back. Literally did the bare minimum, and she just folds. Complete waste of my time reading this. But I had to be sure it sucked until the end.
The sporadic time jumps aren't doing anyone any favors either. You don't know if it's been days, weeks, or months. You're reading one situation, and suddenly, they're in a new place encountering a new situation. Boo. This ain't it.
This was not a second chance romance. This was more like a third chance romance and I didn’t believe in them anymore. It was seriously more like he fucked you and she kept forgiving him to get some dick. Girl stand up my sister. Stand up.
This book has truly hit home for me, and possibly a few others. But for me, this book has given me some real inspiration. Cal and Imani are totally made for each other. Their chemistry on and off the ice is amazingly hot. I would definitely recommend reading this book, twice, I did.
Watching as my 74 year old mother take her final chemotherapy treatment (12-2023) and to be there as she rings that bell, I felt her relief. This book shows just a small glimpse of what a person and their love ones go through.
Now if I can just find a “Juicy Lucy” we will be on point. lol…

I had butterflies when Cal and Imani reconnected and then I was upset when it all went up in smoke. And when Cooper took a turn for the worse, my heart broke and Cal was MIA. But this little boy, brought everybody back together again. I enjoy seeing that the turned out, Cooper got better, Cal and Imani got married and had a baby. And I liked that Cooper also got to tell what happened after he the two of them, because of his unfortunate situation.
Cal and Imani were once in a relationship that ended in heartbreak. Her new role is making children's wishes come true. When a wish lands on her desk for one of their children to meet a hockey player who happens to be her ex-things heat up. Will she be able to work with Cal to make the wish come true? This story had me in Imani and Cal's corner to rekindle their love and get a second chance for happiness.

Imani and Cal are complex characters. There were times I wanted to shake both of them. More Cal than Imani but I did enjoy seeing their growth throughout the story for them to accept that sometimes you need a little extra help.

When crisis hits, he runs and disappears from ALL communications! Yet, on the hockey team he’s their hero! Could she continue to rerun the “off radar” action or will she stick with her decision to let him go? His charm and charisma attracts those he comes in contact with, but underneath his facade is a frightened boy! There is a HEA!🦋
I really like this book because I thought it was realistic with the break ups. I like the way it talks about him going to therapy to get better and I like the fact that she was realistic about who he was every time she went back with him. This was pretty spicy, but very entertaining.
