Bearly Lovers by Rachel Robins is a short read about Harley, a naturalist by profession, and James, a bear shifter of the black bear clan. They meet when Harley is attacked by grizzly bears while she is hiking in the forest. She thought she had seen a man shift into a bear in Alaska, but no one believed her, so she has been looking for proof ever since. The grizzlies are defeated by James who takes the injured Harley back to the bear den. The two become mates though Harley seems to balk at this relationship because she doesn’t want to give up her lab and roaming lifestyle to live in a bear den and raise babies. James must come to terms with the fact that Harley is a different female who likes her independence. He compromises and decides to travel with her for the adventure. The plot needs more development to determine why a member of the black bear clan becomes a traitor and why the grizzlies are trying to maliciously move into the black bear territory and a seemingly isolated den. The characters need more development so that readers can connect with them.
Harley (human female) is a naturalist who is looking for shifters to prove that what she saw in Alaska was real – a man changing into a bear! No one would believe her, so she stubbornly decided to find proof. Unfortunately, grizzly bears found her and attacked. James, a black bear shifter, fights them and takes Harley, who has been injured, to a bear den. He already knew they were fated mates and allowed their passions to take over before explaining it all to her. Will she allow him to claim her when she will be expected to give up so much? Will she insist on not giving up her lab and the important work she does? Or will she feel compelled to prove she had been right which would expose the shifters? Because she can’t comprehend why it has to be her who leaves everything behind and not him, so he tried to explain that their young would be bears and needed to be among their own kind. Can they come to an agreement? Or will she walk away?
Harley saw a man change into a bear when studying bears in Alaska but no one believed her. So she heard there were grizzlies in California she decided to go and check it out and prove to everyone that she hadn’t lied about shifters. When hiking the grizzlies found her but James found her just before she was raped but she had been hurt badly. James was told to go check on the rumors about the grizzlies in the area because his bear was acting up, couldn’t let Harley go since she saw them change and fight as bears. She started to feel the mate pull to James and completed the mating then her sister went looking for her some of the clan brought her to Harley. Through the mate bond she was able to help James fight and stay alive. She would be able to continue her studies with James going with her. Good book!.

If you’re looking for a short slow burn paranormal romance this book is for you. Bearly Lovers starts out with our lovely MC Harley, a naturalist with a curiosity that can be a bit troublesome if not downright dangerous. The whole novel takes place over roughly the span of a week. After witnessing a grizzly scene while on excursion in Alaska that left her with more questions than answers and spoke out about them. Her team just wouldn’t listen to her wild tales of shifters walking among humans. Ignoring the dangers and red flags of what she had witnessed Harley dives headfirst into research to prove what she saw was in fact real. Not only did Harley stumble right into trouble, she also found truth to her claim and so much more. Fated mates, fade to black spice and slow burn romance.
