When It's Love #2

When It's Over

Rate this book
A beautiful college senior and her private writing professor collaborate in more ways than one.

Haunted by her mysterious past and torn between her desire for two men, the more Sydney learns about life, the less she understands.

As Sydney's final semester at Addison College begins, she registers for an independent study with Professor Sparling. Unable to suppress the attraction she feels toward her teacher, Sydney flirts shamelessly hoping her college romance fantasy comes true. To her surprise, Professor Sparling reciprocates. Sydney loves the magnetic tension between the two of them, but most of all she loves to imagine that perhaps she and her professor are truly meant to be.

Still, Sydney can't deny that she harbors deep feelings for her ex, Henry. And Henry remains madly in love with Sydney. He’ll stop at nothing to keep her away from the professor.

Henry claims he lied to the woman he loves for all the right reasons. He'll do whatever it takes to win her back. But will she give him a second chance?

At the center of a torrid love triangle, Sydney must decide whether to forgive Henry's betrayal, or plunge into an affair with her hot, rule-breaking professor.

Two men want her, only one can have her.

This racy novel from the When It’s Love new adult contemporary romance series continues Sydney Morrison’s passionate coming of age story.
How far will she go with her professor before it’s too far? Can Henry convince Sydney that his love for her is stronger than his lies? Will love win over lust?

This book is AMAZING!!! If Ms. Lauren's first book did not make me a fan for life, this book will!!!
This book picks up after Sydney finds out that Henry has been lying to her and impersonating Profession Sparling via email.
This book is packed full of mystery, heat and passion. We also get to see Sydney start to break out her shell and embrace her inner sex godess. We get to see the lengths that Henry will go to to protect the woman he loves. And we get to see a bit more of man behind the fantasy that is Professor Paul Sparling.
This book does end in a cliffhanger, but the way that Emma Lauren writes, will have you screaming for the next installment in this series.
I highly recommend this book and very excitedly give it 5+ Stars. Well done Emma Lauren!!!

There’s a reviewer quote on the cover that says this is “highly charged”. OMG is it ever! I can’t even tell you the last time I was so engrossed in a book let alone a series. I have devoured everything Emma Lauren has out there in under 24 hours (it would have been less, but I needed to squeeze in a few hours of shut eye and feed the kids). It’s hard to even fully explain what it is or why this series has hypnotized me like it has. It just has “it”! The “it” that makes your brain race with anticipation with the turn of each page. The “it” that makes want to want to slow down to make it last but at the same time speed up to find out what happens. The ‘it” that makes you remember why you became a serious bookworm in the first place.

The best part about this series, aside from the fact that is utterly captivating and hot, is the unpredictability of it all! Emma Lauren keeps you guessing and in a very good way. Some of the actions and reactions of certain characters surprised me and caught me off guard. I will say this didn’t head in the direction I thought it would, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.

That somewhat cliffy ending….. it’s not too bad. But, I’m just really dying to know EVERYTHING. I cannot wait for the next book. I really really really hope it’s May and not much longer than that.

MY THOUGHTS~

I was provided with a Review Copy/ARC for review.

Soooo...this book drove me flippin' crazy!! Not necessarily in a bad way either ;) I read the first book in the series, When It's Love, and enjoyed it, so I was very intrigued and excited to read this one.
When It's Over picks up where the first one left off. Sydney Made. Me. Crazy! She's not quite right in the head, I don't think. But then, neither is Henry OR Sparling! Ahh! Anyway, this is hard to write without revealing any spoilers. I'm really trying though. Bottom line, I think this book is very much about self discovery, growth and transforming from "young/new adult" to the real deal adult.

It's pretty well written and even though emotions are totally all over the place, I feel like the main characters are well developed. This was a good read clear through. I'm definitely waiting for the next book to come out, impatiently I might add!

There are books series that you just count the days until it comes out, well When It's Over is one of those books, and the wait is so worth it. Henry. I just love him. He is madly and obsessively in love with his best friend Sydney, who has an obsession with her professor, Paul Sparling. Henry sort of lied to Sydney, and she is having quite the time of forgiving her best friend, while the man of her own obsession professor Sparling is sort of looking at her a bit different lately. Henry has some "issues" that are written true to form. While reading in Henry's POV, I truly felt so bad for him. In his eyes he sees life a bit different, and his actions can't always be controlled, but his heart is in the right place loving Sydney, but his actions sometimes get the best of him. Sydney is so conflictd about Henry, and when the opportunity she has been waiting for finally arrives, well I'm not going to spoil it! Henry's secret is perfectly written, and Emma Lauren puts us in his head, and we understand why he does and says the things he does. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. When It's Over, truly a very well written book in the series. We also are learning more about the mystery surrounding Sydney's parents. This part of the story is quite intriguing, and I cannot wait to see where the author leads us from here!

If you’re looking for a scorching hot read and you’re tired of the same theme over and over again, then this book is definitely for you. This is the 2nd book in the series and it is definitely recommended to read the first installment before this. Sydney is a college girl with a crush on her professor. Henry is her best friend-turned lover. Henry is rocking some serious issues with lying but he only did it out of love for Sydney. Enter Professor Sparling: Will Sydney fall for him? Will he fall for Sydney? What’s going to happen to Henry? You better read this book to find out. However, it doesn’t end there. It has a cliffhanger BUT don’t be fooled and think that you have read this type of story before. Nope, this series definitely has a unique plot. Needless to say that this is not your typical student-professor romance. Each page oozes sexiness and hot scenes! Buy the book, get your AC ready and be prepared to swoon! 

Overall I liked the book but it wasn't as good as the first one.

First Henry I loved him in the first book, but in this one I understand Sydney completely about him trying to control her and her life.

Sydney tried my patients in this book like really girl please forgives Henry, please for your sanity. She took forever to figure out if she loved Henry. I just felt like screaming at like yes you attracted to another man that is just wrong for you. When she finally realizes it, when after Paul was over and she made him leave yet again. SMH!

Now Paul is a douche! I don't like him and frankly I don't know why Sydney still confides in him when she can talk to Henry. I really don't the attraction to him anymore.

I think Henry has more going in his life that he has going on; maybe in the next book it will give more insight to that. My question is why does he see a shrink, yes I know he is OCD and he has some fetish or addiction of taking naked pictures of other girls.

The main question for me is what really happened between her mom and her father. Was her mom really raped, some information contradicts that statement. Why after all this time is her father stalking her and prepare yourselves Sydney might have a twin brother! That blew my mind.

I can't wait till May to get to read the next book!

Ok so when I finished book 1 I went right away and one clicked book 2 because I had to find out what was happening. I thought book 1 was full of craziness but book 2 is packed with even more and I could not put it down.

This book is told from both Lauren and Henry. I wasn’t mad at Henry in book 1 because I really liked Henry and I wanted him and Sydney to be together. But Sydney is completely heartbroken that Henry lied to her and betrayed her the way he did. Sydney decides to step back from Henry because she needs time to think. But Henry isn’t having that one bit.

I knew there was something going on with Henry but I just didn’t know what it was. I wanted to smack him so many times in this book for being completely stupid at times. Then everything Sydney thought she knew again wasn’t not what it was. Professor Sparling actually has feeling for her but when the moment comes Sydney doesn’t know if she can do it because she cares for Henry too much.

This book was so intense at times and other times had me screaming saying NOOOOOOOO!!! I want Henry to get it together. He needs to stop interfering so much in Sydney’s life and also he needs to get his own stuff together. At the end of this book, I was soooooo mad at Henry. UGH I wanted to punch him. I seriously cannot wait for book 3 now because I NEED TO KNOW!!!

We pick right up after the events of When It's Love...Henry is struggling with the aftermath of his lies and Sydney is hard pressed to forgive him. He professes his love every chance he gets but she continues to skirt around him and relive his betrayal. She's started to get closer to the Professor while working on her memoir but realizes that lust and love are two different things. Some hot and heavy moments arises between the two but the outcome is very different from what Sydney had been imaging all those months before.

Henry is digging into Sydney's parents to help her find the truth but without out knowledge. Sydney herself is also remembering startling truths about her past but she has no one to really talk to about it. We see the characters both trying to pick themselves up and be better versions of themselves.

We are left wondering if the new found closeness Henry and Sydney started to have for each other again will last. Ms. Lauren leaves you on the edge of your seat wanting to know the conclusion of their love story. The perfect balance of mystery and romance. I eagerly awake the next installment.

I was luck to find Emma Lauren by chance. Once I read her first book When It’s Love, I was hooked. And I was lucky enough to have the second ready to go, but the wait would have been worth it. You actually feel for these characters. You have Henry, who is head over heels in love with his best friend Sydney, and she is completely oblivious to it. She is crushing on her professor. Henry has a very unique way to look at things. His heart is in the right place but just like the best of them his actions show differently. Henry and Sydney have a falling out, because when you’re in love with your best friend that what happens. Sydney is very conflicted. She has Henry who she wants to forgive but it’s just not that easy, then her crush starts to show a little interest. Talk about drama. This book is so well written that you will have a hard time putting it down. The Characters are well developed and you feel as if you are in the story with them. Not many books can do that. There are twists and turn and I cannot wait for the next one.

I feel like I have been waiting forever for this book to come out. I fell in love with the first book “When It’s Love”. Let me tell you that “When It’s Over” did not disappoint!! Emma Lauren really took me on a roller coaster ride. Who will Sydney choose, her best friend Henry or Professor Sparling? Henry has been her best friend for the past few years. Can she forgive him and realize he may be the love of her life or will she be tempted by her fantasy of the older sexy professor Sparling? This book answered many questions but also raised a whole bunch of new ones.

As she prepares for graduation not only does Sydney need to decide which man she wants but she also has to answer the questions of her mysterious family history. The more she learns the less she may want to know. Can’t wait for the final installment to see what happens.

My short, quick review of these books is that I LOVED them! It was a compelling story with characters that weren’t cookie cutter perfect! They were flawed and that made them very relatable. I also loved that the books were such quick reads… they didn’t drag on and there weren’t huge information dumps that blocked my ability to enjoy the story. I also really like that not everything was handled to me as the reader on the silver platter, that it was a little unpredictable and that I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. It’s a nice change of pace because I’m usually pretty good at predicting the way a story is going to go...

I was weary to start reading the second book because I was worried where the storyline was going to go. I'm new to Emma's books so I had no idea what to expect. The cliffhanger in the first had me dying for more though. I'm not very found of the characters not even our leading lady, but maybe that's what we are supposed to think. Each character has too many flaws than I'm used too. But that's what is brilliant about this book. These are relatable characters with actual human flaws. There's no romanticizing their weaknesses which I like. These people have to fight to get the kind of love that they want and deserve. It makes the journey that much sweeter. Emma Lauren gives so many twists and turns throughout that you can't even contemplate what will happen next. Can't wait for the next.

I really enjoyed the first book and was excited to read this one. But it just pissed me off.
I liked poor misguided Henry the first go round, but he's a totally different character in this book than the first one. To make matters worse, there is no 3rd book (should have been available a couple of years ago, according to the advert at the end of this one) so there is no real ending. I feel like I just wasted my time to stop reading in the middle of the story.

So I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book from the author Emma, herself, in exchange for an honest review.
So where do I start....
OK i will have to admit the story didn't go the way I expected, that was for sure, and I'm not sure how I feel about it to be honest. Though the story did keep my attention and I was wondering how Henry would win Sydney over and what he would do next to stuff everything up again.
I was expecting more with Sydney and the Professor, then what was in the book; but I suppose it was just the right amount for Sydney to realise that she really did love Henry. Even though the back and forth was starting to annoy me.
Henry on the other hand was weird, I understand he had a mental issue, a type of OCD or something. But I just felt the story carried a dark under tone where he was concerned. I am interested in finding out how he explains his issue to Sydney, considering how the story ended.

So in the end, When It's Over by Emma Lauren, was a good read but I didn't love the story...more liked. I will however read the third book in the series to see what happens, but I won't be wait impatiently for it.

P.S. Thank you Emma Lauren for giving me this opportunity.

So, I liked the first one. This one was LITTERED with typos and errors. On top of that, the sweet Henry we meet in book one is gone and replaced with a borderline abusive psycho.

Look, I'm ALL for a controlling alpha. Love them! But Henry isn't a controlling alpha, he's obsessive in a not-hot way because he's still looking at other girls and has deep issues beyond just the flawed alpha.

I think she was aiming for the controlling alpha but she bordered too far into crazy psycho for me.

It was just so frustrating to read this story. Do they love each other? Do they not? They both seem pulled to other people, they both lie to each other.

It just wasn't for me. I *love* flawed characters who find redemption through love. (Hello? That's literally what my book is about.) But this one just totally missed the mark. It felt PAINFUL to finish.

I'm glad I gave this story a chance and continued onto the second book. The readers learn more about Henry and some might even give him sympathy for his stupid choices in the first book. At least now we have our "why" questions answered. Sydney's sexual awakening continues to blossom and gets even steamier when even her hottest fantasies come to fruition. But things aren't always what they seem and she realizes that she loves the one whose been there for her from the very beginning. Except they both have a long way to go before finding their happily ever after. I look forward to reading the next book because I firmly believe in the idea that things get a lot worse before they get better, which is where I think the relationship between Henry and Sydney is headed.

This series is a little different. It starts out in the first book what you might think is a student/professor affair but it's really not. Sydney's best friend Henry has deep feelings for her but Sydney is infatuated and in lust with her professor. Sydney can't decide who she wants.
I won't spoil the story but what I will tell you is that book #2 is not the end of the series. It ends in a cliffhanger. I would not have read these 2 books had I known there was a 3rd book that will be published. After some research I discovered the 3rd book was supposed to be released in May 2015 but now it's January 2016 so who knows. Not even sure if I'll read the 3rd book as I lose interest when I can't read a series all at once.
The books are erotic but just a little disappointing overall.

Scorching hot - writing of brilliance and incredible ability. This book has it all - great sex scenes, a touching love, a stalker, a professor, a mystery, almost a caterpillar changing in to a butterfly who's wings aren't strong enough to fly yet; a distant family, a close family, obsession and secrets - all encapsulated in this book. You won't be able to put it down. The characters and the plot are so open & closed. Twists and turns that will hone-in your interest so all else becomes background to reading this story. My highest praise for an impeccable work of imagination.

Both of these books in this series are definitely a quick read. I read them both in one day. Definitely steamy, definitely erotic. Sydney can't seem to decide if she hates Henry or just wants a sex buddy. She seems to go back and forth between wanting to sleep with Henry or seduce her much-older, divorced professor. Her wishy-washiness baffles me, but still... I want to find out what happens next!

When It's Over oozes sex appeal and the nitty gritty of relationships; the part that no one ever wants to face. I'm awaiting in aching anticipation for book 3. The relationship between these two characters is so twisted that it's damn near impossible to put down. And the sex scenes? Wow, don't even get me started. Emma Lauren is a goddess with words and if you haven't read this series yet, I honestly have no idea what you're doing with your life. Go on, get to one-clicking!

Leaves you panting for more! What a well written series. You will find yourself cheering for Henry then hating him in the next sentence. A great story line filled with hidden secrets needing to be uncovered. Character flaws at its best leaves you wanting a happily ever after for this wealthy young man and his lost love.

It was a good continuation of the story and I enjoyed how the perspective of the story kept changing from Henry to Sydney, but the plot seems to be dragging on. I realize that you want to continue this into a trilogy but the whole story so far could have taken place in one novel, not three.
