Caroline Dawkins is a professor of English who has never confessed her age-play and spanking fantasies to her husband, George Lane, a corporate attorney. After George comes home one night and finds Caroline pleasuring herself, over the course of an extraordinary month Caroline and George utterly transform their erotic life together in the pattern of those taboo fantasies.
From the lovely, degrading preparation and inspection of Caroline's charms, to the dark erotic practices she never thought she would get to try, George and Caroline taste the forbidden delights of age-play and connect emotionally as they never imagined they could.
Emily Tilton, whose books have hit number one on Amazon in six different erotica categories, wishes she could live out her fantasies of submission the way her characters do.
Emily's erotica is a narrative version of her nearly lifelong quest to reconcile her submissive erotic orientation with her ethics. She writes erotic romance, but her books are always frankly and unashamedly about sex, because writing about sex helps her understand that fundamental part of her life better. She hopes maybe it does the same for her readers.
Over the many years since Emily became aware of her sometimes unbearable craving for spanking, ravishment, and all the shameful things that go with it, she has tried to come to terms with that craving in more ways than she can count. The first of the ways was by reading, voraciously, every piece of BDSM erotica she could find.
Eventually, she read "Story of O." As is reflected throughout her work, it changed her life, though the change has been gradual, and continues to this day. The idea that other women might share the lusts she has by turns been ashamed of and defiantly proud of, that a woman like the real Pauline Réage might write so beautifully of those lusts, and work them out so thoroughly and even pitilessly on a character, put Réage's famous pencil in her right hand. Or, to put it in the terms of EXPLORATIONS, which she considers her magnum opus, it put her left hand on the keyboard of her laptop and her right hand in her lap, if you know what she means. Emily started to write spanking stories.
Naughty school girls spanked and anally disciplined, is this your fantasy? Is this what you fantasize during your "me time"? You aren't the only one. Caroline Dawkins masturbates to spanking sessions between a school master and student. She wants to talk to her vanilla husband about her desires, but shies away from it. This is, until one day, he catchers her playing with herself.
Confession time, I can relate to Caroline. Just like kinky Caroline, I run through deviant sexual scenarios in my head whilst in the throes of passionate sex. Just like Caroline, I read the sexy erotica featuring age-play, spankings, taboos and more. Unfortunately, unlike George, my spouse wants no part of being a Daddy or Daddy Dom. George is a bewildered husband who finally receives a break when he learns of his wife's kinky cravings. George steps up and takes control.
From a character standpoint, both characters are relatable. Caroline's sexual appetite is hauntingly familiar. George's response is a dream come true. He's a man who knows how to take charge. He isn't indecisive. This is attractive in a character, particular in a male character. Both characters are created with little complexity so they may not be as engaging, unless one can personally relate to Caroline's position.
From a storytelling perspective, it's okay. First person is rarely good for me. My personal preference is third person. There is a lot more telling in this book than action. This gives the story a more relaxed pace. It isn't what I would consider a tightly written book with nary a spare word. It is written in a manner which can be easily consumed in anticipation for some sexy times.
The holy grail of this story is the rocking horse. The story builds up to it and when it finally appears, the scene is all too short. The age-play and sexual scenes in the story are sexy hawt. It's the lighter side of age-play. The spankings are short. The bratty behaviour is expected as is the discipline that follows. What I would like to see is more detail in the sex scenes. A bit more action would also help. Relaying how Caroline feels while describing how George responds would also kick up the heat. While there is a little snippet of George's response, it's only a tantalizing taste. This is kinky story is recommended to those who are curious about age-play.
Great erotic writing and a sizzling series of fantasy scenarios make CAROLINE'S ROCKING HORSE by Emily Tilton a book to savor!
Thoughtful, sensitive Caroline is bored with her married sex life. Though she loves George, the successful attorney she met when they were both drama students in college, the bland and predictable pattern of their nightly couplings bores her to tears. Almost inadvertently, she begins stirring her own desires -- and the reader's -- with Victorian spanking fantasies that are elegant, old-fashioned, yet raw and exciting too. Then one night George walks in on her -- and immediately a firestorm of passion is ignited, as the two of them embark on a dizzying odyssey of mutual exploration!
I loved so many things about this short, flaming hot novella. I loved the narrator's voice; wry, knowing, candid, and charmingly vulnerable at times. The Victorian fantasies set within the modern tale are so authentic and evocative that they really deserve a full-length novel of their own! (Consider me first in line for Mr. Hastings' special school.) And I love the way George transforms from a timid, boringly modern young man to a powerful and dominating Victorian gentleman.
Now although I would recommend this erotic spanking novella without hesitation to anyone who enjoys stories of domestic discipline, I must caution those who are not comfortable with certain forms of ageplay (i.e. a simulated father-daughter relationship) that certain passages may be somewhat disturbing.
Emily Tilton is a BLUSHING BOOKS author, and I would say judging from CAROLINE'S ROCKING CHAIR that they only publish the best!
I liked this book, but I wasn't crazy over it. I liked watching Caroline and George as they discovered they both had a kink that neither of them realized and then watching that part of their relationship grow. I will say the little surprise on Caroline's rocking horse was a nice surprise. Althought, Overall 3.5 and I round down instead of up, hence the 3 stars. I am interested in seeing what the other two books about Caroline have to offer.
This was a great story of an established couple reinventing their sexual roles.
Caroline has wicked fantasies, but is too worried her husband will be disgusted with her , if she voices her desires. Until she gets caught masturbating by George.
George took to his Daddy-Dom role near seamlessly. Somewhat unrealistic, but definitely not unwelcome. I loved his enthusiasm and willingness to go along with it until he'd figured out his role.
Caroline also enjoys humiliation, pain, and degradation. Some of my new favourite terms:
"Daddy's little slut" "Cunt-mouth"
The writing was superb. I got a real kick out of the term vulva being used. It is a lost word, but precious and meaningful.
I'll be continuing this series. I'm so happy for Caroline and George. I can't wait to meet their new little friends.
Whether writing in her unique Victorian voice or in her contemporary voice, Emily Tilton is an incredible writer. She adds a richness of lyrics and imagery to the hottest, naughtiest erotica in a way that will literally leave you panting and wriggling in your seat. Caroline's Rocking Horse stunned me as age play is something I can be very ambiguous about. But the way Ms Tilton captured the voice of both the little girl, and the rational, intelligent woman behind it leaves the reader in no doubt that Caroline, while loving her fantasy world and losing herself in it completely at times, is completely adult and enjoys adult behaviours, completely removed my reservations and permitted, no demanded, that I lose myself in the eroticism of the book. I think it's probably one of the most intensely erotic books I have ever read.
I thought this was going to be a fun, dirty and sexy story... it was not.
The heroine's constant inner ramblings got on my nerves.
I couldn't stop rolling my eyes everytime she would try to rationalize every single one of her sexual responses during or after every sexual act. 80% of the book was about her trying to justify her desires, it was really annoying and boring. Guess what Caroline? you can be a submissive AND a feminist with a Ph. D. at the same time... I know, mindblowing.
I thought the rocking horse was a cool concept, but they used the freaking thing only once.
Meh, just not my bag. The writing was decent and there was enough story so that it wasn't just meaningless sex scene after meaningless sex scene... But it just didn't do it for me.
A kinky, steamy read, not for the faint heart (strong BDSM and taboo elements that some might be uncomfortable with).
Some things didn't do it for me though. The developpment of a new dynamic between Caroline and her husband-daddy was fine, obviously well documented, but I felt all through the book that the narrator (Caroline) felt the need to justify her sexual proclivities and her life-choices. In the middle of a sex scene, BAM, she'll start rationalizing, explaining (even going into semantical considerations at one point) and, as a reader, though I find it intellectually interesting, it just pulls me totally off the storyplot and interrupts my enjoyment of the book. It would have been fine once or twice, but it really goes on all through the book. I felt like the author hesitated between writing an erotic novelette or an essay about how a feminist woman can reconcile herself with her masochist and submissive sex-life, and just decided to do both in the same book. Hence the 2 stars review : good plot, steamy sex, but way too many intellectual interferences for me to enjoy reading this book.
Short, naughty and hot! I really liked the MC's, especially George who 'came to the party' very thoroughly. My only issue was the narrative style of writing. I'm not a huge fan.
