If you love Valentine’s Day, you will love this book.
If you hate Valentine’s Day, you will also love this book!

Captured by the Cupid is a dark romantasy standalone in the Roars and Romances series following the Amazon bestseller, Kidnapped by the Krampus. With a subtle Valentine's theme starring a broody bad boy gargoyle and the sweet and sassy girl who can capture his arrow—and maybe his heart—this spicy standalone can be read any time of the year!

ARADIA
"I didn’t expect you to be some sexy gargoyle monster.”
In the blink of an eye, I find myself in Purgatory, where I meet Eros, the God of Love. Not your cutesy Cupid, Eros is a very hot and very broody and very cursed gargoyle demon with a heart of stone. I fall hard for him and his tragic realm. But can he find love with this love-struck, curvy clairvoyant who sees auras, likes pranks, and is determined to be more than just a chapter in his love story?
I might love his multi-chocolate milkshake.

EROS
She is the butterfly who plays with the beast.
Psyche is lost to me. And now this glowing little mortal with her pink curls and thick curves like an aphrodisiac is complicating my quest to find my goddess wife. Her laughter echoes through my stone corridors, making my arrow hard while softening my stony heart. Will she be my new heartbreak like my missing Psyche? Or can she love the god and the gargoyle and break my curse?
Seems I've discovered her chocolate addiction.

With whimsical twists as unpredictable as a box of chocolates, Captured by the Cupid promises an arrow straight to your heart. So, swap out the candy and flowers with this slow-burn dark fantasy meets laugh-out-loud rom-com—complete with a serenading cinnamon roll sidekick, a tantalizing touch of trauma-healing, and a sizzling feast of Cupid kink.

~Captured by the Cupid is mainly MF but grows to include MFM under the possessive eye of Eros with some light MM.

This ain’t it.

This book was a mess. Horrible banter, lots of unlisted triggers, so reader beware.

I don’t have anything else to say about this other than I am mad that I put so much energy into reading this.

I always want to give indie authors the best of the best; so much energy and love is put into each of their works, but this was not it. Horrible internalized misogyny from the main character, she was trying to be “manic pixie dream girl” I think, but she just read like a silly 15 year old.

To top all of that off, as an arc reader there was a laundry list of stipulations for reviews. If you don’t want negative reviews, put more effort into your work.

Do better.

Move over Krampus, it is time for Eros and darlings you have zero clue what you are in for! Eros might be the god of love and sex but there is much more up his sleeve than you could ever possibly imagine. Grab those batteries and buckle up!

"What in all the ever-bloody Valentine's fucking hearts? She wanted the gargoyle?"

Can we just take a second to appreciate? Swoon? Over these tropes...

💘Psyche and Eros x Jane Eyre
💘Grumpy/Sunshine
💘Eros is a cursed k1nk¥ gargoyle
💘She is a curvy clairvoyant
💘Musical jester cinnamon roll
💘S3xu&l tension turned way up
💘Dark LOL banter/pranks
💘Spicy🥵
💘Found Family

And let me just tell you that musical jester cinnamon roll is what makes this book even that much better. He was more in love with Eros I think than our girl Aradia was. In the best way. 😉

When Emily said this book was "whimsical" she wasn't lying. While this book was full of the k!nky and delicious things I love in a good monster romance the world building was next level. The way that she first described Aradia's journey that led her to our resident Gargoyle was just the beginning. And when she made it to Eros's home I was done for. It was glorious! All dark, and beautiful detailing with the most delicate of details placed statically throughout.

Okay, on to the smut. My gods! Emily! What did you do to me? You just thought Aradia was a mess 99% of the time. If there was a k!nk it was in this book. I promise you there will not be a dry pair of knickers within a hundred miles of reading this book.

To wrap it up, I loved Captured by the Cupid and while there really is no comparing this to Kidnapped by the Krampus this book held my heart just a bit more. I really felt like I could relate to the chaos that was Aradia and Eros was just delectable all the time. I will forever be a fan of Emily Shore and her Roars and Romances series; I can't wait to see what is up next!!

Rating: 3.5/5 Penguins (rounded up)
Quick Reasons: SO much spice; BDSM themes (including d/s; cnc); mind the triggers please; detailed, vivid, purple prose; more fluff than story telling; character driven

HUGE thanks to Emily Shore for the title! My review is voluntarily written and in no way impacted by this gesture!

I moan and shut my eyes again, trying to hold back the bile. "I always dreamed of being swept off my feet, but I didn't think altitude sickness would be involved."

Going into this review, I was conflicted in how I felt about the read overall. Emily Shore's writing is description, filled with sights, sounds, scents, touches, tastes... I could (if I were not a reader with Aphantasia) easily imagine this world coming to literal life around me as I read. The characters are lovable, redeemable, and FULL of snark and wit. Crescendo's playlist was so familiar to me, it might have been plucked from my own Spotify. The BDSM dynamics and the steamy, sexy scenes FILLED this read with action and impact (hahaha...literally and figuratively)

But....and for me, this is a BIG but...there wasn't much STORY TELLING or plot progression as a whole. We get a whole lot of plot in the first 2 chapters and the last 2 chapters...but everything in between those? Fluff. Filler. Not a whole lot going on except the nuts and bolts of the BDSM play. And while I'm not MAD about that...I do wish there had been more to this story than, "human wanders into Purgatory. Human gets captured by Cupid. Commence instalove and all the steam." This read is VERY VERY character and smut driven, and I wish SO MUCH that there had been a better balance because this could have EASILY been a favorite read for me for the year if there had been.

A human in Purgatory. Far worse than any Fae realm. A pity for this glowing butterfly whose blood spills upon the gray ground like poppy petals.

Still, I had a great time falling into this story and watching the antics of our FMC and MMC as their relationship, uh....relationshipped. The snark was ON POINT, I love the brat/dom dynamics we had going on, and Cres was easily one of the best characters. I definitely recommend this to lovers of all things love, Greek mythology retelling seekers, and those who don't mind more smut than story in their reads. Valentines Day approaches, Penguins...will YOU be captured by the Cupid?

"Captured by Cupid," a standalone dark romantasy in the Roars and Romances series, offers a thrilling blend of mythological allure and contemporary romance. Building on the success of "Kidnapped by the Krampus," this book, with its subtle Valentine's theme, captivates readers with its unique pairing of a broody gargoyle and a spirited clairvoyant.

The story unfolds in Purgatory, where Aradia, a vivacious girl with the gift of seeing auras, encounters Eros, a far cry from the traditional Cupid. Eros, portrayed as a stunningly hot, brooding gargoyle demon with a stone heart, presents a complex character. Aradia's unexpected plunge into his world ignites a passionate yet tender love story. Her vibrant personality, evident in her love for pranks and her persistent quest for more than just a fleeting chapter in Eros's life, adds depth to their romance. Her affection for multi-chocolate milkshakes is a delightful quirk that adds to her charm.

Eros's perspective adds a poignant dimension to the tale. Haunted by the loss of Psyche, his goddess wife, he grapples with the arrival of Aradia, whose presence stirs conflicting emotions within him. The narrative explores themes of love, loss, and the transformative power of affection. Aradia's laughter and radiance challenge Eros's stoic existence, symbolizing hope and renewal in his cursed life.

The book masterfully intertwines humor and fantasy, creating a narrative as unpredictable as a box of chocolates. The addition of a serenading sidekick, a touch of trauma-healing, and a hint of kink, ensures a rich and varied reading experience. The slow-burn romance is perfectly paced, allowing readers to savor each moment of the couple's journey.

Overall, "Captured by Cupid" is a heartwarming, spicy, and whimsical read. It's a delightful twist on classic mythology, perfect for those seeking a love story that's both darkly enchanting and hilariously endearing. Whether it's Valentine's Day or any day of the year, this book is a treat for fans of romantasy, promising a captivating adventure that shoots an arrow straight to the heart.

I received Captured By The Cupid in return for an honest review from the author.

First up can we just admire how stunning that cover is!!! I'm so in love with it!!!!

Aradia is just adorable she's the sweetest pink haired character ever and made me want to chop off my hair and do it light pink instead of it's bright pink color. She's going to be the inspiration for my next color change and haircut. Eros is just perfect he's swoon-worthy and now I can't see the god of love any other way. They are such a perfect complement to each other he's so broody and she's just sunshine. I loved Cres while Eros is amazing I feel like Cres is just on a whole different level of amazing. He's my favorite even though Aradia and Eros are my favorite couple hands down top tier all the way.

I knew this one was going to be incredible just looking at the stunning cover but it blew my minds! The characters are phenomenal you just can't help loving them all and they are so easy to connect with. I love the dual pov it's refreshing to see both sides of the romance and see that they both have their worries and imperfections. I love when they just feel so real and this lovely duo is as real as it gets. They pulled at my heartstrings, made me laugh so hard I cried and I had tears of joy at the perfect ending.

Captured By The Cupid is a captivating story that sparkles the imagination with chocolate milkshakes and romance. Emily Shore has outdone herself with a complex beautiful story that's perfect for Valentines day! I devoured this one in just one afternoon it was impossible to put down and was left in a book hangover for days. I'm already planning a re-read because I miss them already. Highly recommend if you love romance this one is a must. I can't wait to see what Emily Shore comes up with next because she's my one of my favorite authors I just love all her beautiful stories.

*CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS*

While I enjoyed reading this book overall and the character arcs were fantastic… The plot was often left at the curb in favor of the intimate scenes between the characters. Don’t get me wrong, I love my monster smut just as much as the next girl… And Gargoyles?! Be still my heart ♥️…. But there were parts I feel could’ve been expanded on without forsaking the smexy times involved.

With that being said, the characters are completely relatable in their emotions and can I just say the absolute level of sass involved is *Chef’s Kiss* lmao And Crescendo's playlist was perfection and had me rollin with his timing of some of them 🤣 (I encourage you all to put this playlist together). The B(ee)D(ee)(e)S(e)M dynamics and the steamy, s*xy scenes FILLED this read with action and impact (My cheeks were sore just reading about it lmao) and I loved the Dom/Bratty Sub aspect of it all.

On that note, I hope you all enjoy this spicy little tuna of a read…. The very end had me saying a HUGE WTF!! But I won’t spoil anything for everyone else. Just threw a trope in there like it was an afterthought that I felt was completely unnecessary and not a fan of. Enjoy!!

So… I’m a sucker for a dark fantasy book, so when I started Captured by cupid I thought it was going to be a cute canary read.. oh man! I was wrong lol but wrong in the best possible way…
The spice in this book was incredible, the story line brilliant and honestly I didn’t want it to end…
I love the musical Jester..
move over Krampus make way for.. Eros!
Eros was so hot and I know why they call him the god of love and smex
The MFC was bubbly, a little crazy (in the best possible way) but that makes this story so much more…
I am now diving into Emily’s mind with reading more of her books..
I’m obsessed!

Please check those trigger warnings…

CALLING ALL CHOCOLATE LOVERS!!!

really though Emily does it again. She captures our attention with incredible characters. This time we focus on Eros, our broody gargoyle God of Love. His wife, Psyche, has been comatose for a century and our pink haired bratty clairvoyant Aradia enters the scene.

Through boundaries, kinks and BDSM they break each other and begin healing past traumas.

The book has tons of spice all throughout. The epilogue really brought the whole story together.

*and if you enjoyed this don’t forget to check out Kidnapped By the Krampus, which is still personal favorite

Captured by Cupid

I am not a big monster romance reader but this is the second ARC I have read from Emily Shore and she gets me every time. This not the Cupid that is featured during Valentine’s Day. Eros is dark, dangerous, hot and bothered. He would do anything to get his wife back but what he did not expect is another mortal to capture his mind.

Aria is all about the dark and dangerous. She is a ghost hunter or at least was until she landed in Eros kingdom. She doesn’t back down from and challenges him at every turn. He helps her fight the fears of her past while she does the same for him.

I love Greek mythology and this was a great read. It didn’t focus on stories that are already widely written about but rather picked another story to focus on. Emily Shore also always gets with the different……flavours her monster’s have to share.

I had no clue what to expect from this book going in. When I started, I was a little taken back within the first couple chapters. But I kept reading. And then I couldn’t stop. The spicy scenes were making me thirsty. So much build up - intensity and chemistry between the characters. And then a twist toward the back 3/4 of the book which I wasn’t expecting. Making the book even more sensual. Oh and then the FINAL heart wrenching twist. Ahh - that was heart breaking. Last line of the book made me laugh out loud.
Basically you can expect some fantasy with gargoyles, god/goddess references, multiple spicy variations with toys, between genders, and multiple partners at one time. It’s a whole lotta spice put in one book! And did I mention comedy? The two characters bantering back and forth had me laughing out loud multiple times. Good, fun, spicy read.

I am not a lover of valentines day, but I absolutely devoured this book. Eros is everything, every sweet tooth needs for this holiday period. All the characters had a great dynamic, with plenty of laugh out loud moments. The spice was off the charts, but with plenty of plot to keep it entertaining. Cannot recommend enough, and will definitly be a re read in the future.

Much spice

I saw the cover of this book and read the concept and I knew I had to read this. I have already read one gargoyle romance this month so I figured why not. That’s pretty much where the similarities lie.

I could 100% see this book working for many people but I don’t think it worked for me. I was surprised because I enjoyed the beginning of this story and liked the wittiness of the FMC. However, as the book continued, I found myself struggling to get through it and did not feel invested. It was like the book started one way, and then completely turned into something else and I feel like if it had continued the way it started I would have enjoyed it more.

If you are all about the spice and minimal story, this is for you. I think the book started with some story, lost a chunk but sprinkled it in a bit then threw in some story at the end to give it a HEA. The book just kept going and it did not have to be that long. If I had been more invested in the characters I think that would have helped but unfortunately, it wasn’t for me.

I think this book had a good premise to start and end with, but I did struggle. However, I know some people will definitely like this book, especially with some of the reviews I have been seeing, but it wasn’t for me.

This is book 2 in Emily Shores Roars and Romance series and is a Valentines Day themed retelling of Psyche & Eros meets Beauty and the Beast. This book is a romance wrapped in dad joke level puns with its own built in playlist curtesy of one of the characters Ero's jester and sometimes partner Crescendo. If you're looking for a fun and quick read for February this will fulfill all your cupid's arrow, chocolate loving, flowery love song needs.

We follow the FMC Aradia the pink haired, feisty, aura seeing psychic, who's more ghost friend than hunter as she visits a haunted church and somehow slips into the lands of purgatory where a stoic and heartless gargoyle Eros catches her and imprisons her with the intent to use and return our lovely pink haired heroine to the mortal world but Aradia's sweet, fun-loving and up for anything attitude win over the stone hearted god in the end along with several other characters.

3.5 chili peppers 🌶️ on the spice scale.

This was so fun! Part of the author’s Roars and Romances series, Captured by the Cupid can be read as a stand-alone. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I definitely did not expect the banter between characters and the FMC’s internal monologue/talking to herself to be so funny!!

This is a nice mix of mythological lore and contemporary, smutty romance.

Eros rules over Purgatory, but not particularly well these last 100 years. His search for Psyche’s soul takes up all his time and energy. Wherever could it have disappeared to, and how? As Eros grumpily strolls his Purgatorial grounds, his attention is caught by something that doesn’t belong: a pink haired mortal who smells delectable and radiates a pure energy. Wanting to keep her to himself for one salacious night, he stalks her into a corner and scoops her up to carry off into the night…

Aradia is a curvy, sassy gal who can see and communicate with spirits. Her desire to check out a spot rumored to be haunted has her stumbling upon the unexpected, and accidentally wandering too far into the misty night; like, way too far. Pursued by shadows in this strange place, she finds herself before the biggest, most intimidating, and… strangely hot shadow of all: a shadow that’s not, in fact a shadow, but a horned…gargoyle? Demon? Whatever it is, it stops Aradia in her tracks and gets her blood pumping… down *there.*

From Eros and Aradia’s initial meeting, to their tour of the grounds, to the sexual teasing, to both hiding their true selves from one another, this story has everything: a little spookiness, hilarious banter, deliciously spicy scenes, and surprisingly intense emotions when the main characters face some hard truths and come to certain realizations.

You will fly through this book and still want more when you’re done— in a good way!
