Married to my college sweetheart, I thought I knew my path. We were forging our perfect future, everything falling into place. Until the man I promised my life to changed into a cruel, cold shadow of the man I loved.
With everything I thought I knew in tatters, I find myself in a bar, face to face with a sexy stranger who unlocks things about myself I’d long forgotten.
Just one night. Wild and passionate. A balm for my bruised and lonely heart. Now I can’t stop thinking about him, wishing I knew the name of the man who has set me free and stolen my heart.
But happiness is never easy. Now caught between a twisted and dangerous past that won’t let me go, and the hope for a future that once seemed so far out of my reach. I face the ultimate price as I’m left fighting for everything I want.
Love that will last a lifetime.
Duty or desire, what would you choose?

Some women should be seen and not heard. Like at all. This author is definitely one of them. Give this woman a lobotomy because what in the actual fuck is this writing?
Disjointed writing, lacking plot direction, completely 1 dimensional characters that rely too heavily on stereotypes of weak doormat women who perform too much emotional labor in order to be loved and men too emotionally stunted to function in society. All tied together with a neat bow of ZERO GROVEL.
Girl, if you’re getting treated like horseshit by men IRL you need to write in your journal not take it to a publisher. Imagine having the power to write anything in fiction and you can’t even use your imagination to write women getting treated with basic human dignity because you yourself are getting dogged out by men IRL. GO TO THERAPY.🙄
Writing's not great. It's super awkward and unnatural to read at times.
And where the F does Hunter get off being angry at Jake? F-you, Hunter, you're the one who ran to the other side of the world with another woman, not Jake. Jake did the right thing by telling the heroine. Learn to take responsibility for your actions, asshole. Maybe Jake exaggerated and kinda lied about why you ran away, and obviously, he did it for the wrong reasons, but I'm never gonna believe he was wrong. Hunter sucks as a character just for that! Hunter should have tried harder and waited a bit instead of giving up, like, 3 days later. Grow up, Hunter.
Man, books these days have been pissing me off for some reason...
I mean, I read it, but between the inconsistent plot lines and bad dialog, this was a poorly written book. I mean it reminded me of those pay for books apps that you get spammed ads on Instagram.
Lexi is married for around 8 years Dean I think they’re like 29 when the book opens/ He has a stroke and is in recovery walking with a cane and going to PT. Okay… a bit far fetched but it does happen. Anyways he tells Greek goddess Lexi that she sucks and he isn’t sexually attracted to her anymore… he still wants to stay married though and live together. He tells her he knows she wants a child so to go out and find a baby daddy with his blessings. So she does and finds Hunter who gets her preggers on a ons that they both feel Is more. They keep seeing each other and both feel like soul mates. Meanwhile back at the ranch Stroke victim Dean morphs into a psychopath. He tells Hunter Lexi is crazy and she goes around trying to get pregnant with om babies all the time. Hunter runs away with OW wannabe to China. Dean does psycho shiz and later Hunter and Lexi live hea. Yeah this book was ott ridiculous and that can work sometimes but not in this case.

This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions that I did not expect at all. Lexi and Dean were college sweethearts. Everything was perfect for a while. When a tragic health event occurs, things start to unravel. Dean said something unbelievably cruel to Lexi that set a chain of events in motion that will shock everyone. Lexi's best friend Cherry is outgoing and brash. I alternated between liking her and intense dislike. Lexi meets Hunter in a bar, and they have a one night fling. Only thing is, neither one of them can forget about that night. Will they succeed in having the HEA they deserve? Time will tell. Get this book ASAP and find out what happens. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.
L Knight, you never disappoint. O. M. G! To be honest, when I saw the number of chapters, I moaned (more used to 20-40). Some authors drag scenes out which is what I thought when I saw the number of chapters. I should absolutely know better with L Knight! Then I started in, and the emotional roller coaster was pleasantly exhausting. The mark of a great author is the ability to use words to cause the reader to have extreme emotions. With this authors words you fall in love with each character, or you feel murderous toward others. With this authors words, you have the feeling like you’re watching a movie! Hunter and Lexi’s story is a roller coaster of emotions with Kleenex a must! Cherry and Lexi, I wish I had a friend as fiercely loyal and devoted as Cherry! And I absolutely LOVE how old friends (Jack) are included to do what they do best! This book is beyond five star! L Knight, thank you and I cannot wait until your next book!
What an absolutely spellbinding read!! L Knight has outdone herself bringing us such perfection in the form of Hunter and Lexi.
Lexi is someone I could relate to in a big way. When you’re in the situation you don’t always see how much of yourself you’re losing. You don’t see how you are becoming someone else in order to make others happy. And for this reason my heart aches for Lexi. She was trying her best to make sure her marriage succeeded that she left herself behind.
She’s a beautiful character. Open, honest, caring and devoted to those she cares for. Her friendship with Cherry was beautiful. To be able to have a friend for so long, to be able to depend on that person to love you no matter what must be such a blessing.
I loved Hunter from the moment his gaze collided with Lexi’s. He’s sexy, delicious, dominant and so darn hot I thought my ovaries were going to explode on numerous occasions.
My heart ached for the mis-communication and devious interference that had the potential to destroy the wondrous and beautiful bond between Hunter and Lexi.
This is, without a doubt, a heartachingly beautiful read, the emotions and depth jump from the pages, they swirl around you and transport you on the ride of your life.
Definitely not to be missed. 5 stars just isn’t enough to portray how brilliant and memorable read this is.
Lexi is married to Dean, but their marriage is on the rocks. On a rare night out with her bestie, she meets Mac (Hunter). Now at this point you’d likely think it would turn into a romantic gooey story - absolutely not! The twists in this book had me shouting at my kindle! I wanted to shake Hunter at times, but he got his head out of his a$$ eventually.
I loved how there were some crossover characters from other books and it also set the scene for Cherry and Jake’s story.
A stand alone book with a hard fought HEA.
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving an honest review.
if you are looking for a book full of angst, twists and spice this is it, the storyline was not a smooth a to b but a corkscrew of a journey for the heroine Lexi, and the hero. It wasn't deep but was still enjoyable.
Les cito textualmente una frase del libro y con eso entenderán todo: "Hunter is a typical alpha male and not protecting what’s his is unacceptable to him." Spoiler: NO, no lo dijo de forma irónica 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.
I really didn't like how the story was written, and the characters weren't interesting. It was so boring, especially because I expected a lot. I'm really let down. I'm giving it two stars only because the story ideas were good. If the writing was better, it could have been much better overall. It is really a wonder that I didn’t DNF.
I can’t believe I made it to 65%. They are together one time on page and then not again. Both are willing to believe lies spouted by a narcissist but only Hunter bears the consequences of it. Lexi is so immature.
Honestly, Hunter’s not even great, but he deserves better. I mostly blame this read on TikTok deception, but I definitely should have known better.
This book was long and drawn out BUT had some really good parts. Extremely triggering scenes. So sad what each character had to go through. But the HEA was perfect.
Lexi was married to the love of her life, until an accident changed everything. The next thing Dean is telling her to go sleep with someone else, he can never give her the child she wants. Lexi didn’t however realise that the person she spent the night with would give a connection that she’d never felt before, one she wanted more of, but she didn’t know how to find him. Hudson couldn’t believe the woman that he though he had never had anything like that before was gone in the morning. He did everything to find her, finally finding her, he knew the connection was still there, but she also had a surprise for him, that didn’t even stop him wanting her. The problem, it seems that Hunter and Lexi weren’t the only people in their relationship, and someone was setting out to make sure that they never ended up together. Lexi and Hudson do the one thing they shouldn’t they believe the lies they’re being told. Lexi and Hunter have more than just miscommunication to deal with, but will they be able to save what they had.
ARC Review of Love, Honor, Betray by L. Knight * * * * * A first introduction to this author that has me wanting to see what else comes from this spicy and explosive series!
Lexi hasn't got it going for her at the moment. She married the man of her dreams, wanting to be come the perfect partner to the point she would change herself for him. Years letter, she is more of a roommate and carer than a wife. Dean, her once wonderful husband, is now bitter and cruel. He wants a new plan in their life, and Lexi's not liking it. She never really TOTALLY planned for Mac to happen. He was something she needed. He was only meant to be one night of passion. Never was that night meant to come back at her filled with drama and chaos that would unravel her life and marriage in the most unexpectant way. Never did she imagine that Mac, was not the man she thought he was...even in that one night. He's never letting her go... Unfortunately, her husband is thinking the exact same thing.
Well...I did not expect that! Lexi is a blue haired babe just getting all the drama. Hunter is an obsessed hunk and a tad bit of a drama queen. The two together are magnetic and crazy. Dean is a wackjob. Cherry is awesome. Not once in this hot read is there the least bit of boredom. Did not expect so much to happen!
Wow what a fantastic book and I can't wait to read the next book! The story of Lexi and Hunter was so very close to my heart having watched my sister go through the exact situation until finally breaking free with the help of her best friend and the family who loves her. This was truly a story that wraps you up from the first page to the last with a harrowing journey to their HEA.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
"What!? Are you kidding me!?" These are things I yelled at my tablet, repeatedly during my time in these pages.
This is my first introduction to this author, and what a good start it is. I had no idea what to expect when I grabbed this one, and was wholly unprepared for the twists and turns of this storyline.
I knew something wasn't right. Couldn't put my finger on it!! The mental manipulation was uncomfortable, and I was considering setting the read aside for a bit... but the puzzle pieces started to click together, and I was too addicted to the characters to stop reading.
Alex and Hunter go through such anguish and emotional waves, and what I thought would be a two or three day read turned into a page turner that I read in one afternoon. (So, be prepared 😉)
I will not leave spoilers, 'cause that's just not nice, BUT - I will share that the conclusion to this one was very satisfying. Nerve-wracking getting to that point but, but the HEA is oh, so good!
I will absolutely be looking forward to my next read from this author. I was lucky to have received my ARC from Booksprout, and voluntarily leave my review.
Holy smoking hot balls. This was off the charts fantastic. Total hold my hand I don't think I can take much more read. This author never disappoints me. This was a remake of a previous book she wrote. Truly it was not like her previous books but boy did I love this. I can't explain the twist turns and mind games of the enemy. And the love and connection that kept the two main characters together. They never gave up. Even when they think they did they didn't. This authors writing is far superior to many and she has a true gift. You were never left feeling like we were hanging. She tied this book up in the best of the best writers bow. It was a read like no other
What a rollercoaster of a ride this book is ! Couldn’t put it down and read in one go.Love the two main characters, both very sweet and sexy together but the villain of the book “OH MY God’ I was actually shouting at my kindle. This is so well written that I felt the tension building in me while reading. Love L Knight’s writing style and cannot wait for the next book in the series !!
* I rate based on vibes*** The amount of MISCOMMUNICATION in this book is WILD. and everything that could go wrong ? It did. It was a wild ride and I had to put it down or I would throw my device because I just couldn’t. It was just a lot and FOR ME it wasn’t enjoyable.
Just when you think you’ve been married long enough to truly know someone, the lies and deceit that leads to gaslighting and Lexi questioning her own judgement and sanity keeps you turning the pages as one twist leads to another turn and the thickening plot. The supporting cast of characters were excellent in this well crafted story that follows Alexis (Lexi) Crane, her soon to be ex Dean and the one man she can’t forget, try as she might.
Fantastic Job by L. Knight. Truly Amazing, such a great book and Story! Reading it is a rollercoaster of emotions. Ups, downs, love, hatred, disbelief and trying to strangle the characters through the book!
Definitely a read in one go (you won’t be able to stop) and we will see some familiar characters too. 💕
Wow. This was another unable to put down book. From the very start I was captivated and it only got better. Then there was a twist or two and my heart rate increased. Until sadly I reached the end. Thanks L. Knight.
An intense and emotional read bringing us the roller coaster ride that is the relationship between Lexi and Hunter. It is filled with pitfalls, challenges, danger and hope. There are some interesting twists to this story, with unexpected situations, alongside firm friendships which keep Lexi from drowning in the situations she finds herself in. This has been a good read though the narrative did skip over some details, such as how and when Lexi discovers information about Dean, but this, overall did not detract from the story which carried me along to its conclusion. 💖💖💖💖
It was good up until 70% when Lexi lost her damn mind and just forgave Hunter like what he did didn’t rip her apart.
I love a good grovel, and ok, this wasn’t awful, but her inner POV was annoying as she just forgave him because he smelt nice basically…um hello, think with the brain in your head!
I kept on reading though and it was a good story and the characters were likeable and believable…felt fast paced at times though this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
