A gripping tale of two friends in love with the same man and the secrets which threaten to ruin their lives. The book provides a nostalgic picture of wartorn Britain coupled with the plight of three people caught up in the dramas that ensue. I couldn't put it down. I recommend it highly.
I really enjoyed the journey this book took me on... In particular the interesting historical aspects were depicted so well, taking me to another place and time, and the storyline surrounding the three main characters, and the web it weaved, keep me on the edge of my seat! Nice to read!
I enjoyed this story of Helen and Annie. I loved how the historical aspects of WWII were woven in, and the horrors of the time were not diminished. The characters are beautifully brought to life and their friendship was strong enough to survive even the worst secrets. A beautiful story.
