Kurt Stone is a broken man who's been driven to the end of his rope by circumstances beyond his control. Betrayed by everyone that he's ever loved, with his dreams taken from him overnight, he's completely given up on himself and life...

That is until a drunken altercation finally makes him realize that he's not as powerless as he feels and he doesn't have to suffer alone, not when there's a whole city of people who deserve to suffer with him.

Gifted a brutal new outlet for his pain and frustrations, Kurt resolves to conquer his grief or, if he's lucky, die trying.

Stories like these aren't usually what I would gravitate towards, as it's in male POV, it just usually feels like I can't relate. But what got me rather interested was the cover. The image of this sad man holding a mask caught my eye, so I decided to give this a try. I wasn't disappointed!!

Kurt is ... Well rather troubled and really for good reason as he has a lot of stuff happening to him all at once. His world comes crashing down. The way he handles it isn't quite the right way, so when I read the description of this book I did sort of expected just action. A man just kicking bum, but I quickly realized it's much more than that. Kurt is an emotionally unstable guy just trying to figure things out, but yet not really understanding how to go about it other than in an aggressive way. The way the author wrote Kurt helps you see how he's simply breaking, losing what little sense he still has, what little control that remains clear to him. It's like he ... Doesn't or can't see people, or things around him, like ... He just doesn't care anymore. He can't seem to understand how to sympathize with people.

The author did a great job letting us into the fall of a man that once had everything, a reason to live for, and just losses it all in a moment. Through Kurt, the author showed us that there's always a rather thin line between what is the right way of handling lose and the wrong way to do so. There's a bit of Kurt in all of us, is simply trying to choosing weather you want to be a hero or a villain.

This book is a good read, yet a rather short story, by the time I was really getting into the story it was over. And then at the end it'll really have you impacted by the mental state of our main character, which makes me want to read more!! I recommend this book, you won't be disappointed!!
