If you’re a writer, you NEED this book. This was honestly one of the most practical and applicable author marketing books I’ve ever read. I cannot wait to have a physical copy because it’s so jam-packed full of ideas my copy is going to be dog-eared and sticky tabbed and highlighted the hell out of. Whether you’re a new writer or you’ve been around the block, you NEED to read this book. It was super refreshing, confidence building, and list-tastic. I will not only return to this tome every time I launch a book, but this just became my go-to recommendation for all writers launching books.
Another excellent book by Helen Scheuerer. If you haven't read her first non-fiction, How To Write A Successful Series, I highly recommend it.
Just like that first book, this one was once again full to the brim of great advice, practical tips and useful examples from both Helen's launches and those of other authors. So you get a nice range of perspectives.
One of the reasons I like this and the first book so much is that a lot of the details are really clear and concise. I also like that it never feels like a book regurgitating the same info we see online day in and day out.
I've read several craft books on writing and the ones that stick out for me are the ones that feel more genuine with strong advice backed up by good examples. My Kindle version ended up covered in highlighted parts to re-read.
Helen Scheuerer has launched 3 different series so she definitely knows how to prep and do a launch. I appreciated the bullet point notes and the information from different authors and you got information from people writing different genres.
I know I'll be referring back to this book many times.
Well, if you're a writer who writes a series I would HIGHLY recommend you buy Helen's books. I love the way she weaves information with experience and makes it easy to comprehend while also giving you actionable items to think about. My physical copy is on it's way, along with highlighters and tabs because this is one book I will be coming back to again and again. As someone who has always struggled with marketing this book was fantastic and I will be coming back to this book again and again to help me with my own launches. Fantastic helpful advice, will be telling all my writing pals to grab this!
This is an excellent overview of systems, ideas, processes for launching a series . Helen has 3 series now and gives us insights into what worked, and what didn’t so much, plus quotes from other authors. I will be going back through this to take notes on the things I want to implement for my next release. Her book on how to write a series was also really useful when I was writing my trilogy and continues to be useful for my current project.
If you are considering Indie publishing this book is a fantastic resource! I absolutely smashed it and I'm so inspired!!
Edit: having now read many books on indie marketing I can honestly say this one was BY FAR the most useful. I've read it twice already and about to go in for the third time because it just contains so much. Highly highly recommended.
