Arriving in Haldale, Startum Ironwolf is ready to relax and blow off some steam with his friends. Unfortunately, a message from Lady Tuin’Dyrr throws a major wrench in their plans. Little does any of them know that this is just the beginning of a complicated night. It looks like their side trip to Thoronjhi is going to be a bit more complicated.
Back in BrokenFang Hold, the situation is looking grim as the Hobgoblins breach the outer walls. Will the defenses hold or will the defenders be overwhelmed by the surprise attack? On the other side of the kingdom, Sarka is heading to Amyalneas, when things get weird as she comes under attack.
Further away, Alanah and the rest of the Brat Pack head to Lonsalindel for their next performance. Instead of having an easy time of it, they've been targeted by another group. To those lacking worldly experience, things are not always as straightforward as they seem.

Jason A. Cheek, author of The World and The Last Paladin Series, lives in Germany due to his current job assignment. He lives with his wife and daughter, along with their two dogs Monte and Melow. Originally from West Palm Beach, Jason was born in Florida.
Interested in martial arts, swords, archery, Dungeon & Dragons, the SCA (Society of Creative Anachronisms), reading Sci-Fi and Fantasy, Jason became a computer gamer after leaving the Army. Paying his own way through college while working as a waiter, he studied to become an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
Teaching himself computers and networking on his own time. Jason changed career paths, becoming a Regional Systems Administrator several years later. During this time, he played many hours of first person shooters and strategy games at LAN parties around the United States or logged into Anarchy Online and World of Warcraft leading his guilds.
Excelling in his career as an Information Technology Specialist, Jason became a Microsoft Certified Systems Security Engineer and VMware Certified Professional, furthering his knowledge by learning new technology whenever possible.
Expanding his horizons, Jason became interested in extreme sports and traveling. Finding a job that allowed him to travel around the world while working on computers, he taught himself German and Polish and met his wife Anja.
Always interested in writing, Jason began his first novel called Flight, Book One of The Last Paladin Series, in 2013 and self-published the next year in 2014. He went on to continue writing, releasing the popular series The World in 2018.
So another excellent installment in the series. Following the MC more is a good thing, but doing a good job pulling together some of the side stories and making them relevant.
Gotta be one of the best ones yet. Not giving anything away read it yourself 😊 story moves at quick pace with various story arcs twisting around like a nest of snakes. Writing reminds me a bit like feist or hicks great believable characters especially if you an rpg player rather than keyboard gamer. Has elements of D&D/TnT with wargame hints thrown in. Can't wait for next so going back to book 1 lol
I really enjoyed this book and all the world building. I also liked how the story kind of flushes out and ties up loose ends and brings the story to the next staging point. I wish it could have been longer. I like seeing the stats for the characters, but I would have liked a condensed version of things that might have changed since each book has these pages in them.
I'm sorry, but only including enough content to fill 60% of the page count with the story is wrong. There is no need to list every character, and their items are just overkill. It's a great series, but at 674, the page count is already short, and then to get to 60% and find out the rest is filler?! I won't be buying any more books from him on Audible.
Honestly, I would like to pick up the pace a bit. 1 or 2 days per book is exceedingly slow. Though the story is good. I don't think all the side quests really add much to the story.
Another amazing book in this series! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and loved the way it progressed. I just wish they were longer! I recommend this entire story line, start at book one and enjoy the ride!
This is one of my all time favorite series. I love these characters and can not wait for each new addition. The story keeps getting better. Also to note the lack of constant character sheet updates is awesome!! Keep them coming!
All the fiddle faddle the end of the book needs to disappear only add new entries for people you added to the book. You are shortening the length of your book by having 25% of the end as references
Keep these books comin love them action adventure intriguing... But would like to have star get with his girl sooner rather than later. that part ur dragging out to my h for me.
The story and the plot grows we meet new players and people. Sometimes, it's tough with so many different people to keep up, but at the same time, it keeps things moving
Startum is slowly headed home to Brokenfang Hold via the libraries in every capital looking for clues into teleportation , meanwhile he's got to deal with greed ,pettiness and self interest from players and NPCs . A great addition to the story.
