Amara

I’m the daughter of a well-respected St. Louis detective.
Everyone saw me as just his kid, and when he died, I was pitied.
I left St. Louis to heal from the pain the city brought me, but two years ago, I came back and joined the SLPD as a detective, my father’s shadow looming over me.
On my first night back in town, I made a lust-filled mistake, one that would haunt me forever.
Now, I’m investigating a string of kidnappings. I know in my gut they’re somehow connected to Oasis, the city’s street racing hub run by three ruthless men—including Leon Torrance, the bane of my existence.
Leon is beautiful, but he’s covered in sins that even a priest would run from. He has warned me to stay away, but I can’t get myself to listen.
When the mayor’s son-in-law is brutally murdered, my eyes are on Oasis.
My chief told me to forget about the kidnappings, to find the killer instead, but that’s not how I’m wired. I’m not going to stop until I find those kids.
The last thing I expected was Leon Torrance offering me help.
An ex-con and a detective working together? Sounds like a fairytale.
Except we both know this won’t have a happy ending.

Leon

I’m a man with a dark past—that’s no secret.
In fact, it’s tattooed on my face, a reminder of the deal I made to get my freedom.
That was ages ago, and I should be over it, but how can I be over it when that’s all the nosy detective sees when she looks at me? I’m not a man to her–no, I’m a criminal.
There isn’t much history between us–just a night in the shadows filled with pleasure. It should mean nothing to me–to her.
I thought I could forget her, and it would be a lot easier if she’d stop poking around Oasis.
There’s already too much going on, and we didn’t need Amara Harrison’s shiny badge getting in the way.
For weeks, she’s been snooping around Oasis, and when the mayor’s son-in-law is found brutally murdered, she wants to dig deeper.
We–I–can’t let her do that. If she finds out about the Bratva, about how we keep things running, Oasis will be lost–and it’s my fucking home.
I’ve just gotten my family back, and once the Bratva is taken care of, we can finally rest easy.
Detective Harrison is a thorn in my fucking side—a stunning, determined thorn that needs to be plucked.
When I show up at her door, warning her to stay away, though, I see something in her eyes I can’t turn away from. Instead of intimidating her, I offer to help, in exchange for leaving Oasis alone.
There’s only one problem: I can’t forget how fucking good she felt in my arms.

ARC REVIEW …. 14/02/24 release date
Oh My God. This book was everything. The tension, the atmosphere, the relationship developments, the character developments. Brittany Ann you are unreal. I thought Dontell was my favourite but step back Dontell and welcome Leon 🥵. The way he protected Amara and he wasn’t afraid to own how much he loved and cared about her. I was captivated from the beginning to the end and I was not expecting the plot twists in this book and that ending 🤯🤯. I am so excited for the next book. I have found a new genre / trope of books that I am now in love with.

Got the ARC email at 4am & realized I was taking the day off😂 started as soon as I got outta bed at 545am and just couldn't put it down❤️

Leon & Amara's story was everything I expected it to be😍 anytime Amara was mentioned in book one I got the vibe Leon hated her... BUT I was so wrong😂

They hooked up one night and when Amara went to work 2 days after she found Leon there & that's when she learned he was a criminal and wanted nothing to do with him. But two years later Leon was still obsessed and needed to make her his. ❤️🖤 The end had me sobbing, I hope book 3 comes soon cause man that cliffy has me wanting to know wtf is going to happen😂

Every time he called her Butterfly I swooned😍
But when he said "Clutch and shift with me, butterfly" I fell in love❤️🖤

Enjoyed when Daddy Mason was mentioned🫠👀 I miss the Langston brothers so much 😭

❤️Enemies to Lovers
🖤Touch her & Die

"Try to touch her again," I dared. "And your fingers will be mailed out one by one to your family, while the rest of your body decompress in battery acid," I growled, barring my teeth. 🫠

Oh Leon……another one of the many men of this connected universe who seriously make you swoon. Also the level of filth that comes out of his mouth 🫠 Honestly this is so insane how all these books are connected but their own series at the same time. Brittany Ann does such a great job at making you feel everything. It was a roller coaster of WTF, anger, sadness, ummm sweaty? LOL because damn she knows how to write a spicy scene or three. For real though it is really hard to say anything without giving anything away and if you haven’t started this series yet I mean what are you waiting for?

In true form this lady had me in full heart palpitations the last 10% of the book. She knows how to keep you on edge and I may have messaged her asking WTF because I’m not okay. I need Cains book like a few days ago after I finished reading Leon’s story.

ARC Review: Brittany has done it again. Clutch & Shift is the perfect book for those looking to read an action packed romance, with a bit of spice. The characters in the book are well thought out and very developed and make you want more. Leon & Amara are enemies to lovers who come from different worlds and meet with a common goal. Their relationship develops over time and you can see the growth in them throughout the book. Brittany’s world building is so grand, she has developed serveral interconnected series that go so well together but stand on their own just as beautifully.

As you read the book, it makes you want more, until you don’t have a choice but to finish reading at 3am.

I do recommend you read her other series but if not, make sure you read book 1 to fully immerse yourself in the world.

It was a wild ride for emotions and the events happening in the book. The plot keeps growing and even deepens the mystery with every page. It took some hard events for Lee & Amara to realise their chemistry but it was all worth it. Brittany wrote the story beautifully and she is an amazing writer.

The story was the continuous push and pull between characters and it was thrilling to no end. We were able to see a bigger picture of the villain who keeps on evading this intelligent bunch. I hope to see his end in the next book but with Brittany, I am not sure. But now I am excited for the third book and the gut-wrenching love story.

Wow this is truly an Enemies to Lovers story!

Leon is a street racer who is trying to keep his family and found family safe from the Mafia, while trying to keep the nosy detective out of the way.

Amara is a detective who is trying to find missing children and she thinks the street racer crew is involved. While she’s doing this a murder happened and she’s trying to solve it also.

Leon and Amara keep clashing with each other, but also have this strong chemistry that started two years prior.

The passion these two have is fire and my jaw dropped as soon as Leon thought “she needed to be spanked.” Swooning over here!

Book 2 in the Burn Out series, Book 9 in the wider universe the Author has created!

I've been waiting (impatiently) for Leon & Amara's story and was not disappointed 🔥🔥 Continuing on from where Breakneck left off, Oasis' best street racer and the dedicated female detective find themselves on the same side when confronted with a violent crime in their community. Will working together allow them to see beyond their harshly drawn lines, and accept that their chemistry may not be so easily dismissed?

If you haven't read the Author's first two series (Batter Up & the Langston brothers duet), I would highly recommend you do so before starting this one. Although each prior series can be read independantly (free on KU), this new series brings together her baseball, mafia and dark cowboy characters into a combined steamy street racing saga ❤

This book is available now on KU so download now or add it to your TBR 😍

This book drops you back into St Louis with action and HEAT from the very beginning. It truly hit all of the boxes for me! A bad ass FMC and a possessive & sexy MMC with touch her & die vibes. The way Brittany writes never fails to hook me in and makes you feel like you’re family with the characters, she writes amazing stories with even better spice and this book DELIVERS ON BOTH! Amara & Leon have so much going against their relationship, a headstrong detective FMC who’s digging into his organization and a street racer MMC who would do anything for his family! That doesn’t stop Leon from making Amara his, and don’t get me started on the way he calls her Butterfly🥺 the way this man shows up for Amara and his family is incredible!

This book is enemies to lovers with a sprinkle of “it’s been you since we first met” the way they go from
“Do I look drunk to you?”
“Must be, considering you think you can get away with talking to me like that”
To
“You’re my butterfly. From the second I met you, I’ve wanted to see you soar”

ENG/ITA REVIEW

ENG
If you're looking for your dose of street racing, with a story full of angst and passion and a forbidden attraction between a detective and an ex-convict, this is the book for you.

BLURB
Amara is a new detective, just like her father was. One night she makes a mistake with the incredibly attractive and dangerous Leon, chief of Oasis, a street racing hub, thus choosing to forget everything about their encounter. When a series of kidnappings starts, Amara will find an unexpected help: Leon himself. Will they be able to stay away from each other?

Clutch & Shift is book two of the Burnout series. And I loved everything, not only how Brittany writes her stories – in that addictive, passionate way that chains you to the pages – but also for the incredible background that I only experienced through movies before.

While Amara is all duty and no pleasure, Leon has a dark past that makes him dangerous and unapproachable. Until her. They fight all the time, but they also make peace and give kisses and sweet, incredible things. Their dialogues are the best part of the book.

Thank you, Brittany, for this ARC and for the opportunity to be part of your amazing Team.

Fino a Leon. Lui è un ex galeotto taciturno e dal passato torbido. Litigano di continuo, ma il modo in cui fanno pace e l'angst delle loro situazioni è meraviglioso.

Betrayal (not from MMC)
Found Family

After many years, you return to the city where you were born, which was your home a long time ago but now brings back bad memories. You go to a bar, meet a man, end up sleeping with him in an alley and only know his name and that the time you spent with him was the best of your life.

The problem is that the next day your boss introduces him to you, along with two of your childhood friends, as one of the leaders of Oasis and The Crew, the “gang” of street racers you think are criminals, and you are the new detective in town.

Two years later, Amara is out on her own investigating the disappearance of some children that some people do not seem to want them to be found.

When her boss assigns her the murder of the mayor's son-in-law, things get even more complicated when she invites one of the former leaders of The Crew to the police station to interrogate him, which his nephew does not like at all. Add to that an almost-ex-boyfriend who does not know the meaning of the word NO, a street racer with a great temper and good timing, and a best friend who is the Suits version of Donna, and of course said racer never stops invading your mind, your space, and most importantly, your heart.

When she ends up kidnapped by one of Oasis' enemy's men, Leon is determined to claim his woman in spite of herself, and Amara will soon realize that the monsters have infected the highest spheres of the city with greed and corruption.

What I liked best was how the author developed the inner conflict between the two in regards to their relationship. She believes that a cop should not fall in love with a criminal, and he believes that he's not worthy of love, especially not from a woman as pure as her.

I really liked how the others accept her without a problem, how they both try to connect their lives no matter how different they are, and how she finally understands that life is not just black and white, but that there is a wide range of grays that need to be considered.

The ending leaves us a little heartbroken, but I promise you that Oasis will do everything possible and impossible to protect their family from the monsters lurking in the shadows.

WOW!! Leon and Amara’s crazy emotional and adrenaline packed story was EVERYTHING and more!! The immense amount of emotional turmoil between these two characters just poured off the pages and I didn’t know how much my heart could take. But their story was so worth it.

The flashback from two years ago at the start of this story was insanely erotic and had me aching for more. But I needed to wait….

Amara is a fierce, strong, determined, and persistent woman with a broken past. I liked her from the get-go, but DAMN did this woman ever frustrate me. The way that she just doesn’t listen, continues to dig at people and is so freaking angry at everyone had me wanting to throttle her. But I loved when Leon would tell her to shut-up and put her in her place. It was hot!

“I braced my body, knowing it was going to react to him. I braced my heart, knowing she was going to cry out for him. I braced my soul, knowing that it was going to ache for him.”

Leon is possessive, domineering, demanding, fierce and huge (in a good way). I just wanted to jump into the story and climb him like a tree! This man and his filthy mouth had me salivating for more. My body was aching, my panties were melting, and my heart was ready to give out!

"Try to touch her again…And your fingers will be mailed out one by one to your family, while the rest of your body decompress in battery acid."

The tension and banter between Amara and Leon was so freaking intense and the slow build up to punishments and delicious moments of release were insanely HOT!!

“Fight for us. Fight for me, and I’ll fight for you until I’m nothing but blood and bone.”

This story was brilliantly written with so much emotion that you couldn’t help but be utterly captivated and glued to the pages (possibly crying at times). The storyline was fantastic and filled with action, suspense, adrenaline packed moments, violence, insane passion and an undeniable love. It was also filled with little twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. The ending was amazing, and I can’t wait for the next story in this phenomenal series.

"Everyone is a hero and a villain, all depends on who is telling the story."

I don't have enough words to describe how much I LOVED this book! The second in the Burnout series, this series is set in the same world as the other stories written by this talented author. Several of the characters make an appearance, which always makes me happy.

This book has my heart. I did not want to put it down - it was so compelling. Did I read at night? Yes. Did my iPad fall on my face? Also yes. Do I regret the missed sleep? Not at all.

Leon and Amara hook up one night after Amara returns to St Louis to join the police force where her father once worked. They exchange no names, no numbers, but the encounter rocks both of their worlds. When Amara sees Leon the next day and realizes he's with Oasis, a street racing group with some shady ties, she can't deal with it. She turns off her feelings and treats Leon with disdain.

For Leon, even though he knows they can't be together, he still keeps tabs on Amara and does what he can to keep her out of his world. When a case connects them, Leon tries to keep her out of Oasis, but Amara has them in her sights. She is tired of the police force overlooking the dealings of Oasis. Her current investigation also connects to a secret case she is working on. She may be stirring up more than she can handle. Leon insists on helping with the case - as much to solve it as to keep Amara alive. the chemistry is smoking with these two as they try to resist the pull.

This story had all of the emotional impact I've come to expect from Brittany, but the heartbreak! I was not ready for that ending! I need the next book. Now!

Favorite quotes:

"You're mine. I'm yours. It's done. We'll figure out the rest along the way. Just clutch and shift with me, Butterfly."

"You're my butterfly. From the second I met you, I've wanted to see you soar."

OMG!!! Brittany has done it again * Insert Chef's Kiss* I absolutely loved this book! The Street Racing World and the way she mixes in her characters from her other series. The family bonds and tension between MCs. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 I couldn't put this book down. Now I need the next one ASAP!!

This book is suspenseful, spicy, and a tearjerker. Twists & Turns and Ups & Downs but at Oasis (St. Louis Street Racing Scene) you are family and you get through it together. A beautiful story of trauma healing and learning how to live in the gray area. I love Leon and Amara's story. You get sucked into this world and forget you are reading. See you Soon Oasis.

Leon is one of the leaders of Oasis. He protects his family and his city. He was kinda pushed into racing by his father (read for full story as I don't want to spoil anything.) Leon had no choice but to learn how to drive and how to win. Feeling like he has a lot to prove himself worthy, he doesn't take no for an answer. He is sexy, strong, protective and a Dom in the bedroom. 🥵 His story is one of learning for himself that he is worthy, that he deserves happiness and learns forgiveness for things he couldn't control. Can he forgive himself? Can he acknowledge his feelings and finally truly be happy?

Amara is a feisty detective at the STLPD. Her father was chief of police and she is trying hard to become as great as he was. Amara struggles with grief and loss throughout the book. She sees everything in black and white. She lives for her work and has to prove herself as a woman in a man's world. She starts digging in some cold cases and never gives up. Will this be her salvation or the end of her career and possibly her life? Can she get over the tremendous loss she has suffered? Can she learn to live in the gray?

Trust me you don't want to pass this series up. The emotions you feel in the book are everything. I love getting lost in Oasis and feeling a little adventurous.

Thank you Brittany for allowing me to ARC read this wonderful book! 😘

"Everyone is a hero and a villain, all depends on who is telling the story."

I knew it.. I just knew this book would chew me up and spit me out then tape the pieces together cause no one does that better than Brittany.

Holy hell was this one hell of a ride.
The emotions..
The spice..
The twists..
LEON ..
The praise..

Phew did I need to take a breather after about 65% because the intensity from both Amara & Leon was completely off the charts!
I was not prepared at all for what unfolds in this book. You're right back where Breakneck left off and it starts off with a bang. We get more insight into the situation with Amara but also with Leon, and we get the how of their relationship.

The hardest part for me throughout this book was Amara's grief, she is a bitch. Struggling with losing someone unexpectedly is always hard but most of the time it lingers and is always there. I understood Amara more than words can say, her dad was everything to her. He was her compass and guide. She had it right when she told Leon it just comes out of nowhere, cause it does.
Leon was more complex than ever. Getting to know him through his POV was something that I wanted most from this book and phew did we get it and then some. The man is a walking red flag but damn if Amara was colorblind to it.

They both wanted someone that was theirs, someone to love. Someone to care about. Someone that was their everything. They found it in each other.

Although this book was twisty and turny and full of all the goodness all throughout, I shed tears at one point that I had to stop and just breathe. That one hurt Brittany! Why? You give him to us and then :(

Now this book has serious triggers, read them please. The scenes throughout in this book are to me well deserved cause come on, read it and you might just agree but this book might not be for everyone so heed the warnings at the start of the book.

I think I need a month to process everything I just read.

Brittany Ann took me on a roller-coaster of emotions that I don't even know what to do with myself. First of HOW CAN YOU DO THAT TO BRYCE ?? Like I am in tears but also so Furious rn 😭😭😭😭😭😭 he has and will be have a soft spot in my heart.

I have been dying to read Leon and Amaras story, and I was not disappointed with ANYTHING. I absolutely loved them. They spent most of the book arguing while trying to fight the chemistry they have. From the very beginning these two sucked me into their story. I loved and find really funny how they couldn't stop thinking about each other and always managed to be around one another. They both have really sad stories which makes me really glad they found each other.

Amara was amazing. Shes someone that will not let anyone disrespect her or get away with anything. She's definitely very admirable and it was easy to like her. You can tell how much of a good person she is. Leon was 😍😍😍😍😍😍. This man could be hot and cold but when he was being hot he had me melting for him. I absolutely love his connection to his niece. Seeing this big scary man being so sweet with his niece was adorable.

They still haven't resolved the big issue they had in the other book BUT it didn't feel like it was dragging bc a lot of stuff did happen. There was still a lot of action and secrets revealed in this one that its making me be at the edge of my seat waiting for them to catch the main bad guy.

The author did an amazing job setting the story and the characters for the next book. The way I cant wait to get my hands on the next book is insane.

♡♡♡♡

We got to see a lot of the other characters from the other books (duh they one giant family) but can I just say I screamed when Collin showed up. This man has had my heart and soul since I read his book

The second book in the Burnout series and its every bit as good as the first. Leon and Amara cross paths one night, not knowing who the other is, only to come face-to-face a couple days later. Amara didn't realise who Leon was and now she's scrambling to keep him and the rest of Oasis at arm's length. While she grew up with some of them, she no longer sees them as 'family' and thinks they're bad news, after all they're on the wrong side of the law and she's not, there is no in-between.
I like the fact that Amara is a strong independent character, but her attitude towards Oasis had me a little defensive of them! It's like the old saying, "don't judge a book by its cover"
These two are continuously running into each other and they have some s3xu@l tension ! Hot d@mn!
Brittany's character and world building is always so good! I feel like I'm right there a part of their world. I'm into cars and car racing so this has been a thrill for me!
Amara has to relent at one point and they are reluctantly working together to help Amara with something she's working on the side.
This had everything! I loved how everyone rally's around each other in times of need. Once we started learning what was really going on, was when I started warming up to Amara. She's starting to realise that not everything is black and white.
There were a few twists in there that made this story that much more!
This was fast paced, full of suspense and adrenalin! The opposite sides of the law was done really well and I enjoyed seeing them all navigate their way through this. Another great read by Brittany, looking forward to the rest of the series!
Thank you!

Clutch & Shift - Brittany Ann
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Street Racing
Detective FMC
Morally Grey MMC
Found family

2 years ago in Oasis Springs where street racing, money, and all things illegal run like a live wire; two unlikely people meet just by chance. Detective Amara Harrison is still digging in things she shouldn’t be. She’s made promises to her past self, her father, that she’d be the good. Leon Torrance is still the street racing king and still dealing with the Bratva mob interfering in his business. The two have had their run ins with each other since their initial meeting and none have been nice. But as it goes, they are like fire and gas ready to ignite each other. When the need to rely on each other outweighs their faux disdain, the two find themselves facing more than what they bargained for.

MAN. This book had it all. I liked Breakneck, Book 1 in the Burnout Series; but I LOVED Clutch & Shift. There was the perfect amount of action to keep my mind from wandering and the perfect amount of romance. I loved that we see the same crew from Book 1 and they are heavily involved in this one. Look, Leon and Amara are it for each other, you could feel it in Book 1. You can’t hate someone THAT much without wanting them even just a smidge. But their love for each other was so raw. I’m twiddling my thumbs thinking I can race my mom-car down the highway as I wait for Book 3. Thank you to Brittany Ann for having us on her street team and giving us this ARC. Keep your eyes peeled for its full release on 2.14 🏁❤️🏁❤️

“Good girls get pleasure. Bad ones get used.”

What a gorgeous welcome back to Oasis - and boy have I missed it! Stepping back into this world of grey grey grey was the easiest thing to do. Oasis and these characters are always there to welcome you home. I love the connected world that Brittany has built across her series and the fact I get repeated access to her vast collection of lovable rogues. The sprinkled information about new developments in previous couples books is always a treat - (congrats Mr and Mrs Connors on that new baby!)

“Fight for us. Fight for me, and I’ll fight for you until I’m nothing but blood and bone.”

The spice hit from the first page and I was hooked. I was stealing chapters between tasks during my work day and missed my stop on my bus home as the real action was getting good.

I needed to know Leon and Amara’s story when I was reading Breakneck and Clutch & Shift surely delivered. These two characters just work perfectly. Amara is my second favourite FMC that Brittany has written (love u Casey Gomez) - she holds her own in a way that the others don’t, she wasn’t going to let these men dismiss her, not even when it was Leon. All of Brittany’s characters are inherently flawed, but her plot leaves you desperate to know everything about them and you can’t help but root for them even if they aren’t someone you like all that much. (I’ll @ u next time, Col)

I’ll clutch and shift with that dirty mouth of yours any day, Leon.

An incredible return to Oasis, congratulations on another delicious story, Brittany!

In Breakneck, I was having a love/hate relationship with Leon. He was at times very cold, rude, and domineering with Mina. But there was so much he didn’t know Mina had gone through, just as he kept a lot from her. They had to overcome years of distance and hurt. Leon loved his sister and niece so fiercely that he broke his own heart to give Mina what she asked for…until her life was threatened. It was the same with Amara. Their one night together was life changing, then they found themselves on different sides of the law. And Leon once again gave up and buried his wants down deep because he was following Amara’s lead. Until they find themselves directly in each other’s path while trying to bring down a common enemy they didn’t know they had.

Amara was fierce and determined and willing to fight against powerful figures for what she thought was right, and after a lifetime of black and white found she could find and live in the beauty that was gray. Leon is a protector and fighter for those he loves! He is possessive and needs control. Both were a little broken due to vastly different relationships with their fathers. But when they could no longer deny their feelings, they had to learn to navigate and merge their worlds. I loved these two together. By the end of this book I was all about Leon. I want this man! He is my fave MMC of the Burnout Series.

OH. MY. GOD.

There were very few things I didn't like about this book. It had everything, spice, suspense, and emotional pain that makes you have emotional pain. What isn't there not to like? Amara grew up with the founding members of Oasis, but after losing her father, she cut herself off and worked to the bone as a detective. Leon had an asshole as a father that forced him to street race for money at a young age. He later found a home at Oasis doing anything to protect his family.
The prolgue absolutely destroyed me! Right out of the get go, was hot sex between two strangers that led to them finding out 4 days later that they were on different sides of the law. Amara learned quickly that Lee will do anything to protect and be there for his Butterfly and he proves that throughout the whole book, their communication skills when Leon finally claims her, both breaks and makes my heart swoon. The fact he realizes that all he has to do is fet on his knees for her in order for her to stay sweet and not kill his brothers, is hands down the sweetest, and bestest thing. 🥹🤤

As always, the book left off on a cliffhanger, so I can't wait for the final book in the Burnout series. Cain and Nikki's story can not come soon enough! 🫶🏻🔥

Leon and Amara hookup one night after Amara returns to St Louis to join the police force where her father once worked. They don’t exchange names or numbers, but the encounter rocks both of their worlds. When Amara sees Leon the next day and learns he's with Oasis, a street racing group with some shady ties, she turns off her feelings and treats Leon with disdain.

Even though Leon knows they can't be together, he still keeps tabs on Amara and does what he can to keep her out of his world. When a case connects them, Leon tries to keep her out of Oasis. She may be stirring up more than she can handle. Leon insists on helping with the case not just to solve it but to also keep Amara alive.

After reading Breakneck I just knew I'd love Leon! Not only does he have the whole bad boy thing going on but he also has a huge heart. Amara is a fierce, kind hearted, and bada$$ FMC. I’m currently in my strong FMC era and I’m loving every second of it. We really get the full hate to love thing with Leon and Amara.. And it’s hot as heck! This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and the ending/epilogue was perfect. We get our HEA for the main couple but the plot line still continues.

Thank you @authorbrittanyann_ for allowing me to read and review this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

This book is written in true Brittany fashion with tons of character development, great plot and good spice. The descriptions put your right into the story along with the characters and make you feel like you are a part of the story and not just someone reading it. This book is full of twists, turns, emotions and some WTF moments. I really enjoyed this book a lot and I’m so looking forward to the next one because ma’am that cliffy at the end and I need to know what happens.

This book follows Leon and Amara. They hooked up one night, and when Amara, who is a detective, went to work 2 days later found Leon there. She finds out he's a criminal and wants nothing to do with him. But come on it’s Leon, she can't stay away I mean he's amazing. There is tons of tension in this book, so much you can feel it coming off the pages. When Amara is tasked with a secret case she must work with Leon and the other members of Oasis. This is when they have to come to terms with each other and what is building between them and the fact that they both love each other. This book really does tie in the whole opposites attract and i love how they work together to overcome their struggles.

If you like a book that has all the emotions, suspense, spice and a book that is written brilliantly you gotta read this series.

Holy moly!!

Wow just wow, what I just read was simply amazing. So far my favorite of series. I have a feeling I will be saying that about each one as I said it about the first book lol. But Leon and Amara did not disappoint. They were enemies to lovers perfection!🤌🏻🤌🏻

You get a little taste of that hate they have for each other in book 1 but man I was happy when I saw it was their book for book 2. I needed more of them and I STILL need more of them after reading this.

I gotta say Leon surprised me heck out of me. I was not expecting him to be the way he was, my lips are sealed you are going to have to read it to know what I mean, (trust me, you will understand lol). And his nickname for Amara made me love him so much more.

I loved Amara, though some times she made me angry with some of her behavior but I knew where she was coming from, so I let it slide lol. But she is such a strong force to be reckoned with. And we all love a good strong FMC. Though when she is with Leon…let’s just say I loved seeing that side of her. It works for both of them and what they both need.

Now I will impatiently wait for book 3, Cain and Nikki, to come out. Because the way this one ended and that epilogue, I need their story like yesterday lol.

I am seriously so happy I got to dive back into one of my favorite book worlds. This one I seriously had to binge read because I just love Oasis. Street Racing is one of my favorite things to watch especially Fast and Furious and Brittany Ann just delivers with these. It gave me all the good feels and definitely anxious at point thanks to Amara 🤣 I can’t wait to see what Brittany does with the next one!

Leon is just wow, let’s just say not what I was expecting but I loved every minute of it! Amara is just one of those female characters you don’t want to mess with. Leon and Amara were exactly what they both needed. I don’t wanna give too much away but definitely go check it out.

No spoilers. Read via Kindle. Thank you, Brittany and Book Funnel for allowing me to read this book for my voluntary review.

Ever since finishing Breakneck (Burnout #1), I could not wait to go back to Oasis and read about the characters in this book, Leon and Amara. This book will have you at the edge of your seat with all the tension, drama, thrill, and dark romance. I could not put this book down when I started reading it and finished it in one day! I did not want this book to end, all the characters had a great part in this book. Fast and Furious with dark romance vibes, is all you need to know to add this to your TBR because you will not want to miss out on this world! I thought I was ready for this book, but the prologue will wreck you and will have you begging for more! Now (im)patiently waiting for Burnout #3 with the cliffhanger at the end.

Would I recommend this read? HECK YES! If you want a different dark romance from what is out there and loved Fast & Furious, you will want to read the Burnout series. All of Brittany's books are in the same world, so I recommend reading from the beginning (Batter Up series, Langston Brothers Duet, and Burnout series), but you do not have to read the other series to make sense of the series, just "paints the whole picture".

This book is available on Kindle Unlimited and Amazon as of 02.14.2024.

Holy shit, this book/series. (Read the first one, or don't, but I recommend that one too!)

Let me start off by saying I am normally not into the cop/bad guy dynamic, but Brittany Ann has officially changed my mind.

Amara is a detective that just wants to do her job, save everyone she can, and that's enough for her. Leon is a street racer with a dark past and wants to protect his family. Two years ago their paths crossed in a wild night at a bar and since then, neither has forgotten the other.

Fast forward, while Amara is working a case, she just happens to cross paths with Leon, from two years ago. Between their witty banter, he is doing everything in his power to keep her from solving this case, but why?

WELL I just loved this book. Amara is such a bad ass with such a light to her soul and makes me wish there were more cops in the real world that were like her. Lee is the bad boy of your dreams and continues to reiterate that I just love a morally gray man who carries himself with a purpose.

Every single time he called her Butterfly I audibly swooned.
THEN he said "Clutch and shift with me, butterfly" and I died.

✨ He falls first
✨ Enemies to lovers
✨ Found family
✨ SPICY (3/5, but its GOOD)
✨ Detective / Street Racer
✨ Touch her and die

I cannot wait to read what happens in book 3!

This is book 2 in the Burnout Series and I’ve been anticipating Leon and Amara since book 1 Breakneck and it did not disappoint one bit.

Clutch & Shift follows Leon and Amara who have a one night stand after they meet at a bar. A couple of weeks pass and they meet again but under different circumstances where they both realize who the other person is, Amara is a detective and Leon is a morally gray street racer who are on different sides of the law.

As a female detective Amara feels as though she has something to prove, to herself and to everyone else. Her independence and strength shows in every decision she makes. Leon is the leader of the local street racing crew, Oasis. He keeps trying to deny his feelings towards Amara but in the end he will do just about anything to make sure she knows that they are made for each other.

I think Brittany did an amazing job creating such a captivating story. This book is full of action, suspense and lots of tension. You fall in love with all the morally gray characters and how close of a tight knit family they are when you visit Oasis. The ending made me so excited for what’s to come in Full Throttle.

Thank you Brittany for having me on your street team and for the opportunity to read and review this book!
