Old-School and High-Tech is a lovely combination as Ryan, a former special forces operative who now runs a detective firm, finds that his friend is dead.
The investigation takes a deadly turn with 3-D bioprinting and naturally, Ryan finds himself framed for murder.
Ryan. Siobhan and the rest of the team have to work fast to find the culprit and I especially enjoyed the banter between Ryan and Siobhan.
Neat procedural detective story and a techno-mystery.

Ryan O’Rourke, the owner of an insurance fraud investigative agency in the Chicago area, receives a large manila envelope from a good friend who owns a similar agency in the Los Angeles area. The envelope contains a couple of photos and some coordinates, but no information as to why they were sent to him. Then, he discovers that his friend was murdered shortly after sending the package. As he and his investigative team connects with his friend’s investigative team to solve the murder and complete the investigation case of a security breach within a top security research company with facilities in the Los Angeles and Chicago areas, as well as some overseas offices, a devious party adds more murder victims and uses 3-D science to set up investigators on the teams as the murderers to the police. The story develops like a good basic police/private investigator procedural like “NCIS”. The case has setbacks and dangers and more victims from the guilty party, but the team is able to prevail and solve the case. Mystery and action readers will enjoy the tale, but they will have to get past the sudden shifting of perspective from first person narration to third person perspective within a section, and in one case, within a single paragraph. Just a minor quirk from the authors.

Once i started this book, I couldn't put it down. We start off following Ryan who has opened his own insurance fraud investigation business in Chicago after the advice of his very successful long time friend. Immediately the authors draws you into a storyline that is woven into a very suspenseful mystery with Ryan receiving a strange message and package from his long time buddy out in California.

The story was well-written and the storyline was well planned. I enjoyed the many twists and turns the authors took us down. The characters were very engaging and the relationships were creative, believable and well rounded. I enjoyed learning about each of them and their own personal stories.

I really enjoyed the use and mystery of the new technology. It brought a scarily real aspect to the story, knowing that this could very well be a real possibility, if not now, in the near future.

The action and suspense was amazing and definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and turning that page. I had to know what was going to happen next and how they were going to overcome the situation.

Definitely interested in seeing what goes on in the rest of the books!

A Gripping Detective Murder Mystery

The O’Rourke Detective Agency is on the trail of a murderer. The investigation leads to 3D printing and biotechnology that is being used for engineering human organs. The only problem is that a dangerous ex-employee has stolen plans and is eliminating everyone who knows. This well crafted novel takes readers on a whirlwind ride after a brutal killer and a group of detectives that are chasing him down. Plenty of twists and turns will keep the pages turning and you’ll be guessing until the very end. I immediately felt at home with old friends, with awesome character development and fast reading banter. I thoroughly enjoyed BioPrint and highly recommend it. I can’t wait to read Book 2 in the O’Rourke Agency series.

This is the first work I have read from the Carters and I must say that I am very impressed. The characters are well thought out and related to each other very well. You are drawn into the story by the depth of the characters and the descriptions of the locations. Being familiar with both settings, it is obvious that they did their homework, as all the locales are described accurately. I enjoyed the suspense and was intrigued with the plot line. I loved the fact that they used humor to great effect in the book. It is what made it stand out from all the rest of the detective novels out there. I think there is a great future for this writing duo, they definitely have a way with words and a great feel for what the reader are looking for.

I am not much of a reader, and what I do choose to read is more along the lines of Science Fiction or Special Interest, so I picked up Bioprints with a bit of trepidation. I am glad I did. The book took only two days, of off and on reading, to complete. The characters were easily relatable, and I wanted to see how everything ended up as soon as possible. As a geographic geek I enjoyed the writers familiarity with the geographic areas featured in the book. Overall it is a good solid start to a series and I look forward to the next volume. Until then though, I may have to start reading more crime novels.

I was one of the lucky winners to receive a copy of bioprints by R.C. Carter and J.P. Carter through a draw on Goodreads.
This was an interesting book to read as my grandson is currently working on courses at school regarding 3D printing.
If you enjoy a good mystery with a plot of what could happen when a rogue scientist is involved this is the book for you.
The only thing I didn’t enjoy in particular was the constant description of every new character. By all means give us the details of the main characters, especially when romance is involved, but I don’t think we need the height, hair colour and detailed clothes description of each person.

I saw Bioprints in a group on Facebook and decided to give it a try. The description was interesting and it was on a free promotion.

This book kept me entertained the whole way through. The characters were likable and the story moved along at a good pace. It kept me interested and I read it in 1 day.

The O'Rourke agency was a well oiled machine and very enjoyable. It mixed modern technology with old school investigation skills to produce a very fun book.

If you like detective mysteries I would recommend this book. There were no slow spots and the story was believable. It scares you what can actually happen now a days with the way technology is advancing.

A great "who-done-it"! The authors took some of the latest "tech" and wove it into an engaging criminal mystery. This one was hard to put down as both the story and characters were interesting and engaging with a lot of "on the edge of your seat" action. I found myself in a constant, "what's going to happen next!" A highly recommended, entertaining and quick read. I'm awaiting the next in the series.

The things writers used to dream up are now reality. Carter describes a chilling sequence of murders, using biological manufacturing that left me turning pages well past when I should have gone to bed. Character and plot development are totally believable, jet setting from Simi Valley to Chicago and back. I highly recommend this book.

Was recently ill and in bed for several weeks and had a lot of time to read. I was fortunate enough to win a copy of this great little story! A fascinating story of life love and intrigue. So well written makes one feel that they could be part of such a story (on the good side) of course!

Bioprints is the first book I've read by the writing team of RC and JP Carter and is the first in the O’Rourke Crime Novel series. This is a really good technology-based murder mystery laced with enough truth about how the world of 3D printing can be misused in ways that should put the scientific world on notice. The authors have crafted a storyline that is suspenseful and will keep you guessing throughout – two things needed to really enjoy a mystery. A third, however, is the fact that the plot of this novel could actually happen. We have the technology already. The key is keeping it away from evil, twisted people, whose greed always wins out over human lives, which is ironic given the plot that's driving this particular storyline.

The O’Rourke Agency, owned by Ryan O’Rourke, is a successful Chicago-based detective firm that specializes in insurance fraud cases. When an old college buddy, who is in the same field of work leaves a cryptic message on his cell phone, it sets the wheels in motion for Ryan to travel to California on a quest to figure out the mystery left behind by his friend. The O’Rourke team is soon in over its head trying to make heads or tails out of clues that appear to make no sense in a world of technology they know nothing about.

Authors, RC and JP Carter obviously took the time to research the technical elements for this story. And in doing so, have put together a fun whodunit, blending science, technology, and murder together. This combination along with a sprinkle of romance and good old-fashioned detective work makes this one heck of a ride and an enjoyable, five-star reading experience. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series.

This is not a genre I normally read, yet I found myself unable to put the book down. The characters seemed so real and they had me routing for them from the first page. What very scary book because I could visualize the criminal acts occurring, the technology is here! The murder of Ryan's college friend, George, leads him to California to help solve both the crime and George's final case. Biotechnology, 3D Printers, international intrigue and human relations are blended well in this page turner.

This is the first book by these authors I have read. The character descriptions were too detailed. It was a long read, and it felt like it. Anna Karenina was a long story, but it kept me captivated so I did not think about how long it was.
If you like technology and new science with some murder, intrigue, and a handsome hero, then you will like this book.

Great first person voice. I really enjoyed this well put together mystery--the plot line was unique and well done, as was the dialogue. Characters diverse and well-drawn. I particularly liked the voice. It was like being in the room with the main character. Kind of reminiscent of Mike Hammer.

This book was an enjoyable read and I would give it 3.5 stars. The story idea was unique and it was definitely in the style of a hard boiled thriller. However, there were a few things that could be changed in future books of the series. The authors used a font type that made every word look like it had been bolded. That caused a bit of eye strain. If I'm focussing on the font on every page then I'm constantly being pulled out of the story. There were too many scenes and actions that were summarized. Show don't tell us action. There was far too much background information that was given about each new character we met that served no purpose in moving the story forward. It's great that the authors have fully thought out their characters but remember the reader doesn't need the full biography which serves no purpose and stalls the action. This was a good story and worth reading overall.

Ryan O' Rourke owns an Investigative service with a few employees including Siobhan, who may be more than just a co-worker.When Ryan's friend he hasn't talked to in a while is murdered Ryan and his team are going to find themselves looking for a killer and investigating a place that does 3-D Bio printing. This is a murder mystery that is going to take readers on a suspenseful journey interlaced with the humor you find when co-workers are also friends. The writing is great and I love the characters who feel like someone you'd like to know. If you love mystery, murder, suspense and a good read then go no further than one of the Carter teams amazing books.

Richly layered with suspense, this book kept me guessing from chapter to chapter. I feel the authors did a great job with the setting to put me into the landscape of the story so it felt like I was there as things were going down. There was an undercurrent of romance between Ryan and Siobahn, just enough to appeal to the romance reader in me but not enough to distract from the plot. The modern technology threw everyone for a loop...and it was a nice touch. I was intrigued throughout the entire story and I will definitely move on to book #2 in this series.

I have always loved reading suspense novels and R.C. Carter did a great job in the first of his O'Rourke Crime Novels. The novel gives a peak into what the future could hold with biotechnology and 3D printing. I finished the novel in two days because I just didn't want to put it down. I look forward to reading the second book in the series and to catch up with his great cast of characters.
