This book is a great read. I enjoyed it. Though I would have loved to read book 1 to understand it better as how it started and they left off in book 1 and pick it up in book 2. Though book 2 does go though bit of how Debbie ends up in the Bailer house. This is about Debbie in this book. I want to keep reading after this book. It is that good. I enjoy this author book and would love to read the others. I hope things are better and I would like to pick up the book soon to read on and find out. If you enjoy this author then you may like others amish related authors. You may also like other amish books as well.

This book started a little slow for me. I was impatient with Ida's shallow attraction to Paul, and I didn't appreciate Alvin's abandonment for a reason that didn't feel worth it to me. I somewhat understood, but it seemed to be a coward's way out of shame and unpleasantness. When Alvin started a relationship with a different girl, I couldn't believe it. It made me respect him even less. Now I don't know if he's worthy of Debbie.

Even though alluded to several times, Lois's actions still surprised and disappointed me. The fact that she's trying to have her cake and eat it, too, is very annoying.

It finally started to pick up when Ida opened her heart to another man's attention. I loved the progression of her thoughts and feelings and the honest discussions she had with Melvin. I can't believe the ending! I know these things happen, but why did the author put this here? I was actually thinking of not finishing the series (I know Debbie & Alvin will finally get together), but now I have to read the last one to see what happens to Ida.

I do like Debbie's resourcefulness and determination, along with her willingness to help. I also loved Verna and Joe's banter as a newly married couple. There were some really sweet moments wedged in between the disappointment and annoyance. I also wish there had been a little more relying on God's wisdom and timing instead of just asking for His blessing after the fact. But the tragedy at the end was what took my rating from 4 to 3 stars.

I loved this book. I feel bad for Debbie when Alvin doesn’t return her affections. I feel really bad about how he left the Amish community. I loved that Debbie joined the church fully and how Alvin came back. I felt bad for Ida since she got close the Melvin only to see him die shortly before their marriage. I would rate this book five stars.

Sad

This second book of the Beiler Sisters trilogy is very sad in many ways. I was brought to tears on several occasions. I almost gave up reading the book but I am glad I didn't as the ending was very good.

Heartbreaks

There were so many unexpected heartbreak in this book. I loved the way the community rallied around with support for the person in need. The book was a very good read.

Continued story of Debbie and her Amish experiences.
Debbie is now in the process of her conversion. She is also being pursued by Paul W. who reminds Debbie of the English men, but her heart is for Alvin (who has suddenly fled for the city). Although Debbie has no love feelings for Paul, she is being pressured to consider him as her suitor. There are many events going on-- some good, some happy, some tragically sad.

About the Author:

Jerry Eicher taught for two terms in Amish and Mennonite schools in Ohio and Illinois. He writes of his experience growing up Amish in his memoir My Amish Childhood. Jerry has been involved in church renewal, preaching, and teaching Bible studies. He lives with his wife, Tina, and their four children in Virginia.

My Review:

Seeing Your Face Again, the second book in The Beiler Sisters series. It is a book I couldn't wait to review. In this addition we find Debbie Watson a recent convert to the Amish faith, is at a proverbial crossroads when the young man that she felt was to be her future love, Alvin leaves their community. In turn, she is left with Paul and while he is more than willing to step up to the plate--she isn't so sure. Debbie grew up as an Englisher, but as a neighbor of an Amish family--she always felt that she belonged there as well. So she is allowed to join their community.

In Seeing Your Face Again, there are several romances that we get a sneak peek into, with Debbie's love triangle being at the center of it all. The author is really great at twisting and turning all of them with a final conclusion being drawn in the end. I love how everything is able to play out and how they all come together. Debbie converts only to have the man that she is in love with to walk away from the faith, now what??? It is an amazing love story built on promise, hope, and a lot of faith.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Harvest House.

Quoted from Chapter Two of Seeing Your Face Again: Debbie stood upright so fast her head spun. "I'm not interested in Paul, Emery!"
Emery cleared his throat. "I think you're showing the very spunk Paul finds so attractive. What's wrong with him, anyway?"
Your sister's in love with him for one thing, Debbie thought, but she didn't say it aloud. Ida didn't want her secret spilled to the world. And Emery probably knew anyway and was just as convinced the case was hopeless as she did.
"See?" he teased. "You're speechless. There's not one gut reason Paul Wagler shouldn't be arriving here every Sunday evening for sweet visits with you."
Whew! As you can see, there is a great deal of conflict in this book by Jerry Eicher. Debbie is Englisha and moves to the home of the bishop of the Amish church to become Amish while her friend, Lois (daughter of the same bishop) wants to leave the Amish faith to become Englisha. Paul Wagler is pursuing Debbie and she wants Alvin Knepp, but Alvin has left home and moved to the Englisha world and no one knows why.
I won't spoil the story for readers, but just wanted to give a "tease". This book kept me on my toes and I could hardly wait to get a moment to sit with my kindle and read more! I rate this 5 stars and highly recommend it to readers.
I received a free kindle version of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I reviewed Holding a Tender Heart, the first book of the Beiler Sisters, this past February, and I was thrilled when I checked my mailbox recently and found a signed copy of the second book of the series, Seeing Your Face Again.

As much as I love reading Jerry Eicher's books, I am not going to tell you it's easy... my daughter dreads seeing me sit down with a new book by Jerry, for the simple reason that she has to run for the tissue box, while watching the tears stream down my face!

Jerry Eicher writes "real life" stories better than anyone else I have ever read... now please don't misunderstand me, there is plenty of joy and good times, but the pain and heartbreak is also there... the same feelings that people face in our own lives.

I am always surprised by some of the twists and turns, yet each one rings true. Debbie leaves her home, moves in with the Bishop's family and is on a path to join the church, only to discover that the man she loves has walked away from the church, and his family, and her... to pursue a life in the city. Yep, that's the way things can happen for any of us. Life doesn't always go the direction we head towards.

I don't want to give away anything important to the story, so let me stop here - and encourage you to read it on your own. It's a wonderful story and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

I received this book from Jerry Eicher. The thoughts above are my own. The fact that I am a huge fan has no bearing on them at all.

Seeing Your Face Again is another outstanding book by Jerry S. Eicher. This is the second in the Beiler Sisters series. Making it even more interesting and true to life is knowing that Mr. Eicher was raised Amish and even taught in an Amish school. The story continues with Debbie pursuing her quest to become Amish. She grew up next door to the Beiler family and spent lots of time with the daughters of Bishop Beiler. Lois Beiler is fascinated with the way Debbie grew up and wants to become "English". They "swap" lives so to speak, with Lois living with Debbie's parents and Debbie living with Lois's family. The question to be answered is will Lois continue her new lifestyle or will she come back home as Amish? Will Debbie continue on in the instruction to join the Amish church? And will they each find love somewhere along the way? Another daughter, Ida, must face some tough times and decide how to continue on with her life. Verna, the oldest, is expecting her first baby with her husband Joe. Lots of things to be continued in book 3, that I'm anxiously awaiting to read when it is released in September. I've always enjoyed reading stories about the Amish and this author writes so well and weaves such an interesting story that I can hardly put it down until I'm finished with it!

I was looking forward to this book #2 in the Beiler Sisters series because I couldn't wait to see what happened next and the author did not disappoint. Now I can't wait for book #3!

Have you ever felt you were in the wrong culture? Well Debbie did. She always felt the pull of the Amish way of life and when Amish neighbors agreed to let her move in hoping to keep their daughter from "going English" she was overjoyed. But it didn't work. Their daughter Lois had the same pull, in the opposite direction. She always wanted to be English so she moves next door and lives with Debbie's family. Both girls seem completely committed to their new lives but are these new lives causing trouble for those around them? And what of the one daughter left in the Amish home. Will she ever find love? This book will answer all the questions although I was not prepared for some of the answers.

This book kept me turning pages long into the night. The author has a way of making you feel all the emotion in the book. I felt like I was living it with them. Now on to the final book in the series. I will hate to see this series end. I will miss the Beiler Sisters.

I was given a review copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Jerry Eicher has done it again. "Seeing Your Face Again" is a book I could not put down and kept me turning pages for hours and hours. The author has a way of making you feel like you were right there. To me it was like watching a soap opera but so much better in a book. In the end it felt like a cliffhanger, the season finale. I wanted more but I will have to wait for the third book. It left me with questions unanswered until then. Will Lois return to the Amish? What will become of Debbie and Alvin? Will Ida ever find true love again? I loved reading the first book "Holding a Tender Heart" and can not wait for the third "Finding Love at Home." Jerry Eicher has written a great series of the Beiler Sisters and I highly recommend you read them.

Beiler Sisters #2

Glad to see one feature back on Goodreads in that when you rate a book on your To Read list, that it changes the status to read instead of creating a duplicate as it was earlier this year.

Having said that, it is taking longer and longer for books to load to write reviews ("waiting for ads") that is starting to become annoying. I am already almost 2 months behind in posting read books.

On to the story. I could so identify with the problem of everyone telling you who to date, and who is best for you...especially when based on things other than what your heart is telling you.

Jerry has intrigued the Amish readers once again. Book 2 in the Beiler Sisters series continues the story of Ida, Lois, Debbie, and Verna. Ida finally finds love in Melvin Kanagy who is widowed with 6 kids. Ida is planning her marriage with Melvin when tragedy strikes. Debbie has feelings for Alvin but he up and leaves the Amish. Will he return to reconcile or will he stay in the English world. Lois leaves and stays with Debbie's parents and embracing the English world. A fantastic book to read and looking forward to reading the next book. The hard part is the wait.

Seacond book of the Beiler sister series. Debbie has settle into amish life but not without dealing with some problems as she comes into the household a daughter leaves. The community must make up its mind if her staying has anything to do with on leaving. Not only entertaining but a window into a different lifestyle.
