Amazing story of a cross-country backpacking journey across North America

I just finished reading an amazing book! It tells the story of a cross-country backpacking journey across North America, facing the whims of nature with resilience. The narrative is full of heart, showcasing the kindness of strangers and deep, introspective moments. This journey of self-discovery challenges societal norms about age, risk-taking, and personal growth. The author’s favorite excerpt beautifully captures the raw beauty of nature and the triumph of overcoming obstacles. This true-life adventure touches the very essence of America, making it both captivating and inspirational.

You would be amazed at what you can do

All too often you live your life in basics routine. But what if you didn’t? What if you pushed yourself? What if you did more than you thought you could? Who would you become? That what this book is all about. I really enjoyed the story and the explotation of the main characters goals.

“Wanderlust” was so captivating (as I was hoping it was, based on the title), so much that I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading it all in one sitting!

The author is incredibly articulate, and I loved how she vividly described her adventures. Her reflections on loneliness, her contemplative thoughts about life, and the intricate details of her journey were beautifully portrayed. I giggled most at the term “airborne gangsters, “and was heart-warmed by the kindness of strangers throughout Lory’s journey.

I felt a pang of sadness when it ended and found myself wondering what she did next? How she transitioned back into the “real” world of 9-5, living for the weekends? The ending was satisfying (no spoilers!), and as a fellow adventurer, I completely relate to the struggle of returning without losing the profound impact of the journey. To feel the intensity of the adventure slowly slip away could not have been an easy transition.
