It should have been a regular non-world altering Thanksgiving holiday. At least that’s what Yandria assumed. It wasn’t until Kendrick Saxon showed up in her kitchen the day before Thanksgiving, when she realized everything stuffed deep down was getting ready to bubble to the top. Attraction, soul ties and the truth she refuses to speak are all a guest at the table.
This may be an unpopular opinion but, I didn’t like Yandi. Female characters like her make my azz itch. The suffering in silence while “protecting” your man is so tiresome. How do you hold onto a secret like that for four years and not tell Kendrick?!!! Then, Yandi just packs up and moves back home with no explanation and he's left wondering what he did wrong. To add insult to injury, Yandi let him continue to work with JR's traitorous azz and, all the while, he's playin' in Kendrick’s face! Yeah, I didn’t like that heffa. Being purposely stubborn and refusing to communicate ain’t it. Yandi lacked the maturity to be in a grown up relationship and, at this point, I need Kendrick to move on and find someone else. On top of the dislikable MFC, the book was riddled with errors and the writing was horrible. It was disjointed and a lot of it didn’t even make sense. Oftentimes, it felt like I was reading gibberish. The storyline wasn’t cohesive at all. I almost don’t want to read book two but, I need to know if Yandi finally finds her words and her common sense.
Imagine the love of your life showing up to thanksgiving dinner after not seeing him for the past four years! You’ve been ducking and dodging him and he’s finally decided that he’s ready to drag you back home by any means necessary. Welp this was Yandi and Kendrick’s story but unfortunately he had no idea why she left and she refuses to dig up past trauma in order to offer up an explanation. Just when he feels like he’s finally won her over, the messiness of family drama rears its ugly head right at the dinner table and reverses all of the progress Kendrick has made. This short was a whole scene out of the movie Soul Food and I was here for the drama! I hope Aubree ain’t leaving us hanging and plans to give us an update because their story is nowhere near finished!
The way nothing was resolved...what a tease. Kendrick and Yandi were soulmates, but his life as a famous baseball player ended up tearing them apart. Four yrs later he is back to claim their love, their life. We got a sneak peek of their intense connection, the strong love they shared, and then it ended. There absolutely needed to be 50 more pages at minimum. Aubree I hope you got the Christmas special ready 😑
Damn AP! Leaving us hanging like this is just cruel! 🤬 Poor Yandi suffering all that time in the name of love. Girl, Kendrick is crazy about you, and I'm sure he would have, and will handle things accordingly once he knows! But you have to tell him! Secrets of this magnitude are never good for any relationship, and he may not be patient this time. Ughh.... I hope we get more of Kendrick and Yandi, soon and very soon!
The short story just chapped my butt, and made me scream. Don't get it wrong. I loved meeting this couple, I know their full story will have some heat. I know that because Kendrick loved Yandi, and I know things will be real krunk when he gets Yandi's truth. Too short is Daisy Dukes on a 70 year old lady. This story was Daisy...
What’s a Thanksgiving story without drama? In this case, the last thing Yandi wanted was for her ex to show up at the family gathering unexpectedly. Kendrick accepted the invite from Yandi’s cousin, who seemed to have ulterior motives. It’s giving Cousin Faith from Soul Food, and I couldn’t wait for things to hit the fan. The thing about this story is that it’s clear that Yandi and Kendrick still loved each other. Their physical chemistry was present, but communication was lacking. The author gave just enough breadcrumbs to capture my interest, and I am curious to see where things progress for Yandi and Kendrick.
3.5 ⭐️This was almost satisfying until I got to the end! Now if I would’ve read this before a part 2 was available…. I would be pissed lol. I see the potential in this story and I’m connected to the characters and want to know more. I hope Yandi heals and gets her man back.
This book covered a lot in a little bit of time. I loved how Kendrick was so determined to get his lady back. Yandria’s reason for ending things caught me by surprise. Now I’m curious about the fallout when the truth comes out. As much as this quick read gave, it still wasn’t enough. I have so many questions. The trigger warning at the beginning said that we’ll see these characters again. So I guess I have to be patient an
Ya know what, I read this when the second part was available so I won’t complain bout that 😂 What I will say is, to know see how two people love each other so deep they’ll do anything necessary, sacrifices included, to make sure the other is always okay. Always happy. Whewww. Not this h** really is cousin Faith. Bye 🙄
Now, let’s get to the nitty gritty! Cause I needs to know how this boutta play out!
This short holiday story gives family drama at Thanksgiving, mixed with a second chance trope of love. After reading this little teaser, I want to know more about Yandria and Kendrick.
Oh Aubreè, you and your amazing yet hilarious intros with your phenomenal pen. You are a heifer for this cliffhanger and will NOT be whole until I get the reminder of Kendrick and Yandi story.
"Remember the Time" by Aubree Pynn is a captivating exploration of love, secrets, and self-discovery set against the backdrop of an ostensibly ordinary Thanksgiving. "Remember the Time" is not merely a love story; it's a nuanced exploration of human connections, emotions, and the transformative power of confronting one's truths. Aubree Pynn's narrative prowess shines through in this compelling tale that seamlessly blends romance, mystery, and self-discovery.
PS: You play too much. You didn’t have to end that book on a cliffhanger like that.
This was a very quick read. But just because it was a quick read doesn't mean that it was lacking any on the emotions. This story is about Yandi and Kendrick. A couple that seems to be made for one another... other than Yandi up and leaving Kendrick with no warning or explanation. After four years Kendrick shows up to Thanksgiving at Yandi's grandmother's house determined to win back his lady.
Being a romance reader you start to expect that something monumental had to happen in order for her to leave a seemingly loving relationship...and it did. After finding out what it was I was yelling at the book for Yandi to tell Kendrick what happened! He had a right to know! Of course I didn't get what I wanted. She shut down and I swiftly picked up book 2 because I need to know how this is going to unfold...
See you in the review of part 2 for final thoughts...
Remember The Time was short, sweet, spicy, and dripping with drama—I felt like I was sitting in Madear’s living room watching it all unfold. The Trigger Warning and Names pages? ICONIC. Pynn had me cracking up with, “If you got a grandma named Madear and she ain’t here no more...my bad!” From that moment, I knew I’d love this book.
The family drama? JUICY. Yandy and Kendrick? SPICY. Kimberly as Cousin Faith?? WHAT WAS THAT?! The cliffhanger? RUDE but necessary. Pynn truly did her thing.
When You Fell In Love is already downloaded on my Kindle because I NEED answers ASAP.
If you’re into short, spicy, laugh-out-loud family drama, grab this one! And if you’ve read it…can we talk about that shower scene?
We’ve all hated cousin Faith’s ass and this year ain’t no different! Just ugly and empty inside, always looking to wreck havoc across any happiness she sees. What do you do when your love runs deeper than the ocean floor, yet there’s a secret the size of existence keeping you from basking in your joy and loving the man of your dreams and letting him love you back?!?! I CAN’T WAIT for the full story.
Yandi annoyed me so bad. Like how you pack your shit and just leave like that? Not say anything with something so heavy on your heart? Hmmmm. These type of FMCs are getting old. Purposely stubborn and just refuse to communicate. I really home dude done with her for real cus she stupid. Also- we need to get real with content warnings. The ones in the book ain’t cute. Like stop it CW: mention of assault( not on page) and miscarriage
It has been four years since Yandi walked out of Kendrick life. Being invited to Thanksgiving dinner, Kendrick shows up trying to get Yandi back. When Yabdi refuses to tell him what made her leave and that she wasn't coming back, Kendrick decided he was not chasing her anymore. This was short, but so good and left me with my jaw dropped waiting for the next!! Big Pynn pinned again...
Hmmmm 🥴🤔, thanksgiving or not there’s absolutely nothing to celebrate once you’ve divulged the truth a sexual assault occurred years prior. …Those were predatory & criminal acts of violence? Code of ethics violation! Abuse of power! …😤Yandi can’t be that naïve🤦🏾♀️! “Remember The Time: A Thanksgiving Short (Kendrick & Yandi - Book 1)” was a bazaar read & a weird mammoth abrupt ending. Not cool🥴‼️…Yes, how can I forget 🤔?
There's an almost 2nd chance...Yandria and Kendrick were meant to be, so why did she leave him? She knows that if she tells him the truth about why, it could ruin everything he worked for and she loves him too much to let that happen.
A.P., I'm not going to hound you about finishing up this story-- but you wrong as two left shoes for teasing. 💜
Any time I read a book by Aubree Pynn I know I am going to cry, curse, laugh out loud, be ready for someone to die, and look for my man ,cuz it’s definitely gonna be some sexy time going on!! I need more Kendrick and Yani…soon!! And when you read this , you will feel the same way.
Nothing like a little family drama on Thanksgiving. Kimberly shows up and a once peaceful house becomes a living nightmare. Yandria and Kendrick really needs to sit down and communicate with each other. Hopefully we’ll get to read more about them and they get to the bottom of things.
