I found myself getting really impatient with this one. It seemed like the story would skip over characters coming together from their separate missions, then dwell on summarizations of events that I just read about a couple pages prior. And there was a lot, lot, lot of introspection when I wanted there to be straight action. Also some instances of spelling out how a character felt about the FMC instead of just letting their actions speak for themselves.

The final third of the book, I just started skimming because all of the plotting and spying and wandering around felt unnecessary and dull. And tbh, I'm also wondering why they are fighting so hard to save an idiot ruler instead of just running off to some island nation to live like hippies with free love. The motivation for them fighting for a place that has shown them nothing but suffering or disregard just doesn't add up. Like none of them even have family or friends to give them a reason to care. Just ... why?

And the twist at the end just didn't make any sense. Someone who can't even control their own creations is able to control someone that isn't their creation at all? Nuh uh.

first and foremost 🗣️RHEAVE CARRIED THIS BOOK🗣️ one whole star of this rating is for him and him alone. whatever genre of romance rheave is, that is the one i need to be reading. all of my favorite quotes are from him

anywho still really enjoy the magic system and the characters. their motivations are believable and well-established, but they have been archetyping just a liiittle too hard for me. like casimir is so baby taking care of everyone, but can we have a little character growth for even a single character at some point? where cas does prioritize himself? or alek has just a little self confidence? just a crumb? (except like truly and genuinely why in the fuck did he not immediately tell ivy what he found in the haven about riven and the gods? talmbout ‘oh i’m so useless’ ok maybe tell her,,,,, that important fact then?) n e way yeah we can’t just keep having casimir be like <3 another man to balance out our group energy and call it a day. i need growth beyond them just going from not trusting ivy to loving her completely

which brings me to my next gripe. this singleminded Ivy Must Be Safe vibe from all the mmcs is way more cringe than in previous books in the face of the threat ratcheting up so far beyond their group. like the ENTIRE kingdom is under fire and they’re all like 🥺 but ivy ! 🥺 meanwhile don’t get me started on how ivy is the worst partner for these guys? just constantly stoking their insecurities and refusing to share anything about herself, which goes right back to these characters being stagnant af for three books straight. i mean ‘this isn’t how i intended our private moment to go, but —— if i’m not meant for this kind of request, what am i good for?’ WHAT !! WHAT !!! this is how our fmc makes casimir, who 1000% has sexual trauma as a courtesan, feel instead of just talking to him. it’s giving feyre telling rhys she just wants to use him as a distraction i’m sick

yet their focus is just exclusively on her. it just made the whole journey of saving the kingdom feel . . . weird. somehow too big for the focus of the group and too small for the focus of the conflict. and honestly BORING omg. okay sorry yeah had a jimmy neutron brain blast there —— shit was boring !!! they just checks notes followed an army and played a few little tricks on the big bad, which was entirely unaffected by anything they did, for like half the book. just so incredibly repetitive. then, instead of our main five actually participating in the climax, they just puppeteered it? idk didn’t love that. the most exciting part of the entire book was the last chapter and even that ??? i saw lothar coming from the moment he was introduced. the twist of ivy being controlled there also just was not set up well whatsoever and makes very little sense to me. like that growing ability couldn’t have been breadcrumbed in at all?

i also can’t tell how i feel about the fmc meets mentor, mentor shows her how to use her magic in like five days, then they have to leave arc. like you’re telling me when the scrappy resourceful thief fmc was overwhelmed by her magic that requires an equal consequence, she never —— not even once —— just tried to . picture the consequence she wanted? like not even one time? i get the premise of her being so frightened to use it that she never tried to work with it and understand it, but i wish that got fleshed out a little more during the training arc. that just felt very rushed to me. it would have been cool to see ivy balancing her magic and non-magic talents, but instead we got more of the same

also the smut was like . boring too. we could have had an orgy in the tent and instead we got 35 chapters of ivy being like ‘i love this daimon who is completely devoted to me and is in a really hot body with a charming, guileless personality and would do anything to be with me . . . but i Can’t’ WHY ??? I DO NOT NEED THE ENGINEERED CONFLICT HERE. GIVE ME RHEAVE OR GIVE ME DEATH HE IS THE ONLY REASON I DID NOT DNF

bars:
”i’ve had the whole world, little vine. i had it for more years than i know how to count. nothing i found in it ever made me as happy as you do.”
“this. this is where i fit.”
“cling to me, my little vine. like we’ll be twined together always.”

I had high expectations when I started reading because of how much I love the first two books, but unfortunately, I struggled to finish this one. The previous two books were full of intrigue, mystery and tension, which kept me engaged and desperate to read more. But very little of those engaging elements were present in this book. There were still mysteries, and tension, but the overall story was not nearly as engaging as the previous books, and not much actually happened. There was a lot of introspection by the main characters, but not enough action to balance out the very slow pacing of the story.

The continuing relationships between Ivy and her men were a main focus, but despite being a big part of the story, their relationship didn’t really change (for better or worse). Rheave was the only one who had any character progression, which I enjoyed but considering he’s new to the story and his body he has a lot of character development to catch up on. I liked that Ivy finally had a chance to learn more about her magic and practice using it openly.

There weren’t really any major revelations or a whole lot of intimate scenes either. The guys were mainly preoccupied with protecting Ivy and making sure she was safe. Which got repetitive fast, and considering Ivy saved them more then they her, it was a little ridiculous how preoccupied they were with Ivy’s safety.

I ended up skimming the last few chapters, and while there was more action and interest in the final chapters, the final chapter was exasperating. It’s a good cliffhanger, but it’s a trope or plot point that I really don’t like and it soured the whole book for me. However I want to finish the series and see how it all ends, and I do like the characters so I am interested in learning how their happy every after plays out.

Eva Chase has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Her writing style fits my reading style and she's amazing at writing layered, interesting and complicated characters. The books in this series are a little longer than her usual books and yet it doesn't feel like that at all. I happily read the first two books in the series and when BookSirens notified me that the third book was also available to request I didn't hesitate. I got a copy and of course I also ordered my paperback for the collection.

What I really loved about this book is that we got a little more time to really get to know all the characters, their doubts and their fears. In between the action and in between the danger, there were a lot of meaningful scenes and most of all meaningful conversations. The dynamic between all the characters is amazing and it's lovely to see that even the guys are slowly becoming better and better friends, knowing what each other's talents and weaknesses are.

I have to admit that one part of the story, the part where our heroine was learning more about her magic and how to use it, felt a little slow. Partly because it's unclear by now, apart from the fact that our heroine learned a few tricks that really help her later on in the story, why the detour was really there. I sort of assume that we might find out in the next book. I hope so. Especially because I think the other Riven deserve that.

I also absolutely loved the ending of the book! I already knew, because people were outraged and angry, that this book was gonna end with quite a cliffhanger. It was just a slightly bigger cliffhanger than I had expected. I wasn't entirely surprised by the reveal though and it's also a really awesome point to start the next book. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Fingers crossed there are arcs available again. However, if not, I'll patiently wait for the paperback.

Good penultimate book
Eva certainly puts a lot into her world building and it certainly pays off as the magic system and all it’s intricacies in keeping the balance does keep you reading wondering what will have to happen to maintain that equilibrium 😃
Although we do get to know Alek Casimir and Stavros better in this book I don’t feel their characters overall develop as the story does though Rheave is a great addition with his playfulness 😆 they each have their own internal struggles but these guys are very much focused on Ivy and keeping her safe 😍 the spice takes a back seat in this third book but that’s because there’s a fair amount of questing and action packed scenes! And ohhhh yikes that cliffhanger is a big one 😮

*Audiobook*

This book opens with a BANG...and ends in whimper. It picks up right where the last book left off and sets up the next part of the story. We aren't gearing up to add a fourth dude in this party are we? Especially one that isn't human? Oh, yes, yes we are.

I started the series not knowing it was a "why choose" so that's on me. It's not my favorite and I'm not opposed to it entirely it's just the logistics of 4 dudes. To give them all equal attention she would literally be doing nothing else than having constant sex 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, the story progresses decently well but around the 60% mark it got really hard to stay involved in the story. I'll finish the series because I came this far.

I’m still interested to see what happens in the rest of this series, but as much as I hate to say it this feels like a filler book where x and y take place so that it makes sense when z happens later on, but not in a way that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Anyways if you’re interested in this book it’s the third in a series that must be read in order. There’s more magic, our group is still on the run, she adds to her harem, and there’s some hot group scenes as well.

Narration: Michelle Sparks and Jason Clarke are some of my favorite narrators to listen to. Jason Clarke is voicing multiple POVs, but there are still more FMC POV chapters.

Absolutely loved books one and two, but this one not so much. Really not sure if it is because of the lack of the will they/wouldn't they with Stavros, or what. Also, for a reverse harem, hardly any smut. Where there was, it was smutty, but very few passages. I still want her to ditch the other guys and get together with Starvos and live HEA with him, but that isn't going to happen. Was just going to finish this and be done, but with that cliffhanger, now I obviously have to read the next book. That is very rude. :)

I'm so glad I listened to the audiobook. The narrators continue to do an amazing job with bringing this story to life. They are great at their jobs, and I love listening to them.

Rheave made this book enjoyable for me. I truly loved his character in this one. This story was a lot of build-up. There is a lot of repetition of events to prepare for the final installment of the series. It was interesting enough that I finished the book, but I don't think I'll be finishing this series. I truly love other books by Eva Chase though.

I received a code to listen. This review is honest and voluntary.

I don’t know what to think about this book. I loved book one and two and had such I hopes for this one but it was basically 600 pages of camping and 150 pages of actual action. I was bored. To the point that I was begging for this to be the last one, but nope. At no point did I feel like I couldn’t put it down, and often had to force myself to keep reading. It was a whole lot of words and pages for nearly nothing to happen. I’m just disappointed.

I loved toast and Rheave. He has very quickly become my absolute favorite of the four men. The child-like way he views the world and new experiences is so fun to read. The Haven was also an interesting, if unfortunately short, section of the novel. I just feel as though the majority of this book could have been condensed.

I’ll still read the next one though, with the hopes it will be more action packed.

Thank you to Eva Chase and BookSirens for the chance to read book 3 for an honest review.

It appears that I read most of book 2 in 2024, forgot about it and then came back to it to finish it but in that time, I never wrote a review.

I started this book – the third in the series – duing my lunch breaks at work. It may not be strictly safe for work but reading on my phone guarantees most others can’t see what I’m reading.
I admit that I did start out feeling a little confused because I couldn’t remember much of what had happened in book 2 and only really retained the last 3rd of the plot in my head.

I tried to go into this with an open mind and though it was a slow start as my brain remembered what was happening, I quickly found myself back in the middle of the plot and the characters.
There is a change to Ivy in this book that has been missing in the previous, in that she gets more direction on how to control her magic. Of course, she has done remarkably well with controlling her magic through the books and also through her life before the books (from what we’ve been told). It added a certain level of depth to her character because in understanding her magic more, I was able to understand her character more.

The rivens themselves, have been vaguely explained through the series which I suspect is a choice to make it more mysterious and to allow the story to develop unhindered.

Ivy’s relationship between Alek and Cas remains on steady ground and it is good fortune that is the case. They have a good sense of comradery now that allows for good interactions between the three of them.

With Ben out of the picture, Stavros takes centre stage and honestly, I was almost done with waiting patiently for their eventual coupling. At one point I wasn’t even sure it would happen and there have been many moments between the start of the series and now when I’ve wanted to jab his eyes with something sharp. Stavros had the most to overcome in terms of what Ivy was and what her magic could do. It was the correct move to have his relationship getting to know Ivy be tumultuous because it meant that when they finally came together, the ground was steady and even.

Being ‘on the run’ in any fantasy book is always going to see a fair amount of peril and I was expecting that from the moment they left the college. Every author is going to write that scenario differently. What was different for me, is that by this point in the story, the characters are a united front, so there is no turmoil between the 5 as they navigate life away from their home familiarity.

We should now talk about Rheave.

Rheave was a puzzle I didn’t know how to solve, and I had many thoughts about him from the point I met him to the end of this book. He is, for the most part, the carefree character that became the unintended glue to the quintet. His joy at the simple aspects of life and his overwhelming devotion to Ivy was interesting to read and watch develop. I didn’t think the group was missing anything until I saw how well Rheave fit in with them. I can see that he is clearly here to stay. I’m sure his character will add much mischief and possessiveness to the group of five and hopefully, come the end of the next (and last book) he will find his place in the world.

Ivy and her magic encountered many hurdles in this book. I think it is easy to forget that her character can be vulnerable because as the reader, all I’ve witnessed is what fantastic control she has on the magic that consumes her. So, seeing her struggle to the point of closing herself off and becoming despondent was powerful to read about. It’s clear that her magic is a destructive force, but I don’t believe she is the harbinger of death and destruction that she seems to think she is. I’d rather believe there is a purpose to her magic that just hasn’t been uncovered yet.

There is one thorn in this book. I expected the ending. And that pissed me off. It’s a theory I’ve been thinking of since the beginning of Book 2 because it made the most sense. But in this instance, I was hoping I was wrong and the ending would go off in a direction that wasn’t as obvious or easy to untangle.

That ending though? We knew someone on the King's side was clearly part of the scourge sorcerers but, I honestly assumed it was just a guard or something after the attack at the castle. I was not expecting who was truly in charge of everything! Who I thought was going to be the main bad guy only ended up being a higher ranking general or something in the army and not the big bad - so I applaud Eva for throwing me off that way.

I did feel like a lot of the middle part of this book dragged on a bit too much and I was kind of falling out of the story but, the last 3 hours really picked up and packed a punch.

I did enjoy seeing Ivy get a handle of her magic to some degree and being able to feel more confident in herself as well as understanding herself/magic. It was so cool to see her step into her power and be unafraid. Even if later on things dom't go quite as planned. This girl is so dang strong and determined, I love her. She deserves the world and I'm glad she has so many perfect men to adore her - and adore her they do. Their group dynamic is so perfectly evened out and I love that even though they're romantically involved - they've also just formed a found family aspect within that.

I'm still reeling from our new man - without giving away anything - I absolutely adore him though. He truly does bring something to their group. He's so easily overjoyed by anything and everything, he's like a breath of fresh air! His view of the world is so pure because of what/who he is and while Casmir is still my number 1 - this man quickly stole my second spot. 🤭

I adore Ivy and Julita's friendship so much and love how they support each other. In the first book, early on, I wasn't really a fan of Julita but, the more we've gotten to know her and as their friendship has grown - I've come to adore her. She is a force all om her own even if she has to go through Ivy.

I need to know how this series ends!! I'm on the edge of my seat. I loved the battles our characters have been involved in and how clever they are and cannot wait to see how they triumph in the end.

Thanks again to BookSirens and Eva for letting me ARC the series and review it. 🩷

Overall Thoughts: OMG this cliffhanger has me going bonkers trying to figure out how /ivy and her guys will get out of this precarious situation. I hope I don’t have to wait for the fourth and final book in the series. This book picks up pretty much where book two ends, and this book definitely takes you on a wild ride. The five travelers find themselves in some dire predicaments as they travel the country looking for the scourge sorcerers. Michelle and Jason have embodied these characters to the point I can’t imagine anyone else voicing them. If you made it this far in the series then you know what I’m talking about, the world building in this series is epic.

Narration: Dual narration, first-person present tense POV with a few flashbacks.

Tropes: friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, secret life, academy, grumpy/sunshine, reverse harem, noble and commoner, military, fighting to save the world, fantasy

Overall: 4.5
Spice: 2.5
Humor: 2
Drama: 3.5
Darkness: 2.5

This books picks up right where the second one left off, so if you haven’t read or listened to them yet, there will be spoilers…

When this band of warriors learn that their king’s life may still be in danger even after witnessing the death of the scourge sorcerer’s leader, they immediately head to his and the royal families aid, but when Ivy is forced to use her power to save the royal family the king demands she be killed because of her magic.

Once they know the royals are safe they flee, looking for answers on who they can save their kingdom from being overrun by savage magic wielding puppets. Someone is pulling their strings if they could only find out who.

At every turn the group comes up against challenges and people who would love nothing more than to turn the renegades in. When Ivy meets someone who can finally help her with her magic, she takes full advantages of her lessons so she can better manage to keep a handle of her tenuous magic, but when Ivy comes face-to-face with the one leading the rebellion against the kingdom, will it be enough to save her and her men?

My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book.

One of the things I love about Eva Chase's work is that I can never guess what will happen next, I might think I have but she always manages to surprise me. At the end of the previous instalment of Rites of Possession Series Ivy and her guys found themselves on the run even though they had just saved the King's life.

Ivy knows what her men have given up to come with her and knows that they will need to come up with a plan to defeat the uprising and save the Royal Family and the country from the evil sorcerers but she knows too that she must learn to control her magic, to be able to use it without suffering the consequences which seem to befall all the Riven of going mad. To this end when she is given the opportunity to learn more about her magic she takes it.

In the closing chapter of the second book, Rheave joins their party, he is gorgeous, loyal and so inquisitive with a lust for life that is quite refreshing, he makes a welcome addition to their group. I like all four men and how each brings something different into the mix. The five of them are a formidable force to be reckoned with. Ivy, trying not to use her magic comes up with a plan to use the king's enemies, in an attempt to protect the king and sets it up so that the King's two biggest enemies believe the other is attacking them. If this plan works perhaps the King will pardon Ivy and drop the charges of Treason against her guys.

But as is to be expected with all of Eva's books just when you think everything is going their way something so unexpected happens that it will leave you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next instalment. The cliffhanger ending of this book is the most shocking yet! I NEED the next book NOW!

The narration by Jason Clarke and Michelle Sparks is, as always, excellent and could not be improved upon.

This story start off right in the middle of the action with Ivy and company working against the scourge sorcerers! The story flows straight from there into further adventures against the sorcerers and maybe some slight treason. I loved the flow of the story and the length (~550 pages reading, ~13 hours listening) because it allowed for enough detail to be added to really dive into the world and fall in love with the characters.

Ivy and company have their adventures and all get to grow together, which I quite liked. Ivy gets to learn more about herself and her magic. She gets opportunities to try things out that she didn't previously think possible.
Getting to know Rheave was interesting. He's both young and old in his mannerisms. He finds joy in everything, from eating food to feeling cold. I liked how open to him Ivy was and how she was willing to include him in the adventures.

That ending!! Ahhhhh!!!! I am unwell, but I know that the next book will be out soon and that's the only thing keeping me going right now.
This story has some violence (detailed, but not gory), swearing, steamy times (single partner and group), and this ends on a cliffhanger (please don't let that be a limitation for you to enjoy this story or knock of a star rating because of that!!).

The narrators do a wonderful job with all the characters again! It's nice having the same ones back to continue on with the story. They both give all the characters life and are good at differentiating voices. I liked the female narrator's skilled voice change for Ivy's internal thoughts to Julita's commentary on events. I listened at 1.2x speed.

Hmmmm...... I'm hedging a bit on this series, but still gave it the 4 stars I intended to from the beginning. For one, while it's most definitely a reverse harem in all the right ways, I feel like the author picked a clear favorite (Casimir) and the other guys kind of fall a bit by the wayside. Casimir instigates a lot of the sex scenes with Ivy, and while the other guys may be involved, he seems to take the reins often, so to speak. Rheave's scenes are also up there as well, between Ivy's will-i-wont-i-with-a-daimon waffling and then the inevitable yes-i-think-i-will. Alek had hardly any personal time also, which doesn't sit right with me. While Stavros is my clear favorite (and aside from a one-on-one scene near the end I think he got a bit shafted in the romance development), I think a reverse harem should devote time equally amongst everyone involved.

I also got a little bored with the creeping around and spying plot. (moderate story spoilers)

Finally, I feel like Ivy's badassery took a real hit in this one. There's a lot of self-doubt and mental self-flagellation, and while it's for understandable reasons, the MMCs spend an awful lot of time doting on/protecting her and her badassery doesn't shine nearly as much in this one.

Still looking forward to the fourth book though!

"Secrets of Graves and Gold" is the third book in the Rites of Possession series, and it starts off right where book two ended. Ivy is on the run with her men and desperately trying to keep her riven magic under control while also trying to protect the King and the kingdom. We now have Rheave joining our party and I love his addition so much. I love his child-like joy as he discovers what it's like to be daimon in a human body. I liked getting to know Alek, Casimir and Stavros better and I really liked Julita's input directly into Ivy's mind. I thought it was really interesting how each of the characters seemed to be judging themselves for something that Ivy is also struggling internally with and I loved how together they would work through these feelings. Yum at healthy communication.

I originally thought this book series was a trilogy but as I neared the end of the story I was wondering how we could wrap it up neatly with only a few pages left so I was so excited to know we'd be having at least another book coming. What a cliffhanger too! I actually shouted "WHATTTT?!" out loud when I turned the last page. Needless to say, I recommend this book. I love an Eva Chase book and this one is another hit for me. Amazing continuing to build the world and fantasy of the series.

I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.

Picking up exactly where Book 2 left off, this next installment keeps the momentum going. If you have taken some time between the books, you might feel that you need to re-read previous books to get caught up. But Eva Chase is excellent at weaving in little reminders of who everyone is, the plotlines, and where they are going. I didn't feel at all like I was confused or playing catch-up with what was going on.

The spice takes a back seat in this book and is very much a subplot. If you are intimidated by the fact that this is why-choose, you can rest easy that the fantasy plot is very much the primary plot. As far as why-choose fantasy romance series go, this would be a great place to get started if you want to dip your toe in.

One note - I was constantly impressed by the magic system and how balance was an underlying theme. For every action taken, an equal and opposite sacrifice or reaction must be made. I greatly appreciated that, it helped keep the magic system from being a trump card for every conflict. And when the magic is pushed too hard, the sacrifices are high so consideration must be made or there will be consequences to actions.

And as usual, I am itching for the series's next (and final) book!

Thank you to Book Sirens and Eva Chase for a digital advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This series just keeps on getting better and better! I love the worldbuilding, the quests the main characters undertake, the twists and turns in the storyline and the dangers that just keep on coming. With every new book that's being released in this series, the author wins me over just that little bit more, and I notice myself getting more excited (and less patient) every single time to get my hands on the next book.

"Secrets of Graves and Gold" is the third book in the Rites of Possession series, and it starts off right where book two ended. The author managed to grab my attention from te very first page, and I had a hard time putting it down when things like work and sleep dared to interfere. I really love the storyline in this book, the relationship building and that the spice works for the story and doesn't feel added just to please people reading it. There is spice in this book, but the plot has priority, and for me that's how it should be.

I'm seeing more and more requests lately for great fantasy RH series, and this is definitely a series I believe should be recommended to those requests! However, be aware this series isn't complete yet, and the cliffhanger is a good one. Or a bad one, if you really don't like cliffhangers...

What just happened!

After everything Ivy has been through the way anyone could've even guessed at that cliffhanger. I'm also impressed that this author could stun her readers like that. Well played!

I really loved that this book made the group as a whole look deep within themselves. Each one of them has to figure out if they are more than the gift, talent, position, or title that they've been using most if their lives. It would seem clear that Ivy being a Riven magic user, would have reason to want to question herself, but it really fell to the whole group as they fought to protect their world.

I also loved that when Ivy started to struggle that each of her guys all had their own way to support and reassure her. This book was filled with lots of turmoil as they had to flee, but still protect the royal family. I loved the clever plotting, and just pure resolve that came from the characters in this story. And I'm all happy that things have progressed with Rheave. Her is a great addition to the group and I loved how he is with Ivy.

I'm nervous to see what happens with Ivy and the Order members, but I also need to know. Looking forward to the fourth book.

TITLE: Games of Death and Desire
GENRE: Paranormal Romance
AUTHOR: Eva Chase
TROPE: Enemies-to-Lovers, Why Choose
TYPE: Series (Rites of Possession Book 3)
POV: Multiple POV
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

WHAT TO EXPECT:
🗡️ Hot Damaged Men
🗡️ Dark Conspiracy
🗡️ Forbidden Magic
🗡️ Impossible Love
🗡️ Why Choose

The moment I finished Secrets of Graves and Gold, I ran to Amazon to see when the fourth and final book would be released. I have a love/hate with a good cliffhanger. I love the angst and that they keep me on my toes, but at the same time, I'm not too fond of the wait to see what happens. Regardless, I will be counting down until Lady of Doom & Devotion is released.

Ivy's relationships continue to grow with her ghostly passenger Julita, her men Casimir, Alex & Stavros and their new companion Rheave. Each brings their strengths to this found family. Once again, the story had me captivated throughout the whole book. I can't wait to see how this series wraps up with many forces working against them. I think Secrets of Graves and Gold is easily a 4 / 5 star read.

4.5 / 5 ⭐️ 2.5 / 5 🌶

I absolutely LOVE this series and am so thankful I was able to receive an ARC! 📚

If you like magic 🪄 , a bad*ss FMC ⚔️, a harem of attentive guys 👦, and DANGER ⚠️ you will love this as much as I do! 🥰

This was a good middle of the series book- it gave me road trip adventure vibes throughout that kept the plot going, though like most in-between books, it was a little slow in the middle. This one also gave us some more world building that really pulled me in and made me so curious about future possibilities! 🌏

I also love how the relationships expanded, growing more stable and... Rheave 💕💕💕 I mean, I didn't think my fave guy (Alek) could be replaced, but all of the guys are just top tier in this one. Attentive, romantic... I couldn't ask for better. ❤️

Then, the end. WOW, what a cliffhanger. 😱 I knew something was coming and there had to be a pause before the next book, but I honestly did not expect this particular hangup. 👀

I'm so ready for book 4, the finale of the series, and the Lady to triumph! 💃🥷

Happy release day to author Eva Chase ! 💕

Ivy and her men are back on a mission to save their country from absolute disaster.
Another great book from Eva Chase, packed with so much action , secrets, sweet and sad moments that keeps you hooked from first page to last one. This one I was reading late in to the night ,didn't want to put it down.
I still love all the Ivy's boys ;) but I'm also happy 😊 that they have given someone else a chance to be a part of their little family.
Third book has been giving my head and heart a spin every other page , with all the action packed scenes, the secrecy, conspiracy and love ❤️ understanding and acceptance between All of the main characters. Amazing !!!
However I'm not OK with Julita, not happy and hoping that is not the end .....
Another cliffhanger, not cool Eva , 😑although I'm a strong believer in a power of love ,I'm hoping that it will win in the end.
Definitely will be waiting very impatiently for a next installment of tales from Ivy the badass and boys, her heroes.

Highly recommend 👌 another great read.

With mounting pressure from the scourge sources, Ivy and her men face extra pressure as events unfold.

The love between the group is as enticing as all trouble they face. Having an added ally is a bonus for the problematic adventure, but gives extra strain for Ivy and the decisions she needs to make. With a plus one in the fold, they venture out of Florian into the unknown without a destination planned. Having Kosmel as your golden sounds equally fun and terrifying at the same time.

Ivy and her gang learn things that can help, of allies unknown and of a terrible fate that awaits if they are unable to find a way to stop the bad guys.

The story takes on a hell of a challenge and left me gasping. I love the gang of guys she’s collected, and their tenacity to help Ivy see things though, in the best possible way.
I love the growth of friendship between Ivy and Julita, as they bond throughout this book.

The ending will have you gripped for the next installment, and begging for answers to newly created questions.

I gave the first two books 5 stars for vibes because even though they weren't perfect, I was pretty entertained and could easily look past any issues.

But this one felt off compared to the previous books and idk if I can comfortably put it up as a 5 star for vibes book too, so that may change. I enjoyed the book and don't feel I wasted my time or anything but I wasn't as absorbed into this book as I am for other 5 stars vibes books. And I couldn't overlook certain flaws.

Idk if it was the path this book took that I didn't enjoy, the bit of sluggish pacing at times that made it feel like the middle book in a trilogy, but whatever it was I can say for sure that I'm not happy with that twist at the end. I mean the who I kind of figured so that was not a surprise but I don't understand how that thing that happens happens like a billion times easier than the glimpses of something similar we've seen already.

I'm not sure i like where this is setting up book 4 to go and that was something i was wondering about for a bit towards the end. The first two books make sense with their endings and the following beginngs but this one feels like a quick little dash of convenience and now we can set the path for the book.

In this third installment of the Rites of Passage series Ivy and her men leave the city behind and travel out in order to fight the Order of the Wild in other parts of the Kingdom in hopes of earning a pardon from a rather ungrateful King.

While previous books focused on how the magic gifted from godlen's worked, we finally get some insight into the riven magic and background, along with how to use it and it's ultimate cost to its users.

At the end of the last book Rheave had joined Ivy's band of Merry men and anyone who has read "Flirting With Monsters" will be very happy to know this new comer has the same fun mix of childlike wonder and deadly obsession for the female lead that made Snap so lovable.

Finally, I have to admit... The book ends in another cliff hanger that's going to stay on my mind until I can finally get my hands on the next one. I sat and read this in one sitting, literally just a few hours after getting it.

A great series and I the love the addition of the map. It gave me a much better feel of the territory they find themselves in. Gives the story a more real feel.
I find myself learning more and more about all of the characters as the story moves along, they have lots of depth to their personalities, which are all very different.
This is a world full of deities and gods and daimon spirts, the people of the time all have different views on what they believe in, some truly believe in their (perceived) cause others just want control or power.
As Ivy and the guys are finding themselves hunted, they have to walk a very fine line, practice more subterfuge, keep themselves safe, and clear their names as they are navigating a violent uprising.
All in all a great story that kept me fully engaged and loving all the characters and I can’t wait to see what happens next. An ongoing series with cliffhangers. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.

If, like me, you were expecting a trilogy, be warned. This is not the end of the series, and the book finishes with an utterly devastating cliffhanger. Now I have to bite my nails until book four.

In this book, the group, consisting of Ivy and her three men and the daimon who was introduced in book two, leaves the capital city and heads out across the countryside, east, north, and south. There’s a lot of traveling, a lot of camping, a lot of small events along the way. Some people found this unsatisfying, but I liked it. It’s realistic - when you’re fighting a war, there may be a few large battles, but there’s a lot more small skirmishes, and slogging through the mud.

I have to say, though, King Konram is an idiot, and you have to wonder why it’s so important to keep him on the throne. I know, it’s important to defeat the scourge sorcerers, but the current regime isn’t winning any points with me. I could easily get behind a new royal family. Like Queen Ivy. That has a nice ring to it.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Secrets of Graves and Gold by Eva Chase is a why choose fantasy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Michelle Sparks and Jason Clarke. This is the third book in the Rites of Possession series.

I absolutely love Eva's books! She did an amazing job keeping me hooked through this book. I really enjoyed getting Ivy, Stavros, Casimir, Rheave and Aleksi's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Jason and Michelle did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

The book ended on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Lady of Doom and Devotion to be released on June 5, 2024.

I would recommend this series if you're looking for a fantasy romance, slow burn romance, or why choose romance.
