EDGED BY A MONSTER—sounds tortuous, right? And this particular beast takes me to the brink of my sanity, only to pull back at the last second. He swears it’s to help me, but I know the truth—the Erlking wants to make me miserable. Why else would the monstrous man kidnap me, steal me away from Earth, and force me to learn how to be the very thing I despise? Ugh, the nerve of him—and don’t even get me started on how he teases me. Enticing me. Exciting me. Enraging me. But all is not well in The Veil. Turns out the Erlking is hiding more than just his evil plan to torment me, and I’m going to find out what’s going on. Will I beat Ender at his own game, or will I swallow my pride so I can experience the pleasure he taunts me with?
Love collecting the series, perfect smutty, fun comfort reads. This includes an increasing way to use a beak and never tought about wings bring that sensitive before, in a spicy way ✨️
This was a fun quick read. J really liked the characters. I think the main thing to take from this book is that everyone has flaws but that doesn't make you unworthy of love. This two characters had a bit of a journey to get to their happy ending.
The book started with a couple of secrets being kept and someone getting kidnapped😭. As the book went on Sera and Ender started to trust each other more and let each other in. They were both holding on to a lot of emotions and pressure they put on themselves but with each others help were able to heal from everything they went through.
The most interesting part was the big villain of the book. Not gonna get into details cause I don't wanna spoil but I loved how the author showed how you holding yourself back can cause your own down fall.
At the beginning of the book there's was some attraction between them but I didn't fins their chemistry to be super strong. As they spent more time together I felt their chemistry became stronger. Even when they would argue or banter they and me smiling. These two denied what they and for long enough and once they let go it was amazing. Those steamy scenes between them were superrr hot.
We met Sera (and saw her go through her monstrous metamorphosis) in Fern's book. We also saw her get kidnapped by Ender, although he did it for the best reasons. Sort of. Let's just say that Sera and Ender had a bit of an adversarial relationship and Ender didn't think Sera would come willingly. And since she needed to learn how to control her abilities, he took the most straightforward route and just brought her into The Veil.
To say Sera was not pleased with this might be an understatement. That said, for all her anger and bluster, she did need to learn about her new powers and she could grudgingly admit that Ender might be able to teach her. Then she found out about the instability in The Veil and suddenly things took a turn.
On Ender's end, he's determined to teach Sera about her abilities, but otherwise keep his distance. Which is easier said than done. The more time he spends with her, the more he connects with her and the more he knows he needs to keep his distance.
But Sera isn't one to stand by idly when things are happening. Soon the two are racing against time to save a dying world and all the souls within it.
A little danger, more than a little baggage when it comes to their respective pasts, closure, balance, powerful abilities, a dark lord who is wildly protective, and a woman who needs to come to terms with everything she's capable of. *thumbs up*
4⭐️ Another great read for #monstermarchmadness! I loved the plot. It was so interesting from the start and I loved the two variations of angels kinda vibes. I didn’t know much about teraphims and seraphims or Erlkings. It was an exciting experience learning about their world and their powers. The Erlking anatomy was definitely an experience! Get ready is all I’m saying.
I enjoyed the E2L vibes and fated mates storyline. The pseudohate spice was great. His brand of edge experiences was very worth the wait. Get it? Anyways it was really cute the way it all played in the end how their destinies entwined.
The mind reading element was really well executed as well and I really enjoyed their banter. Great read!
A super easy and quick read. It definitely wasn't my favourite in the series, it moved exceedingly quickly and often felt like it jumped forward (particularly with the characters feelings for each other) just to move the story along. There was a distinct lack of detail to the story, when it was an interesting premise and had the potential for more.
Sera and Ender were well suited to each other and I liked how there was both positive and negative personality traits in both of them. They balanced each other out. Good vibes for a monster romance but I just wanted more.
Honestly, my least favourite of the whole series, which sucks because it had so much potential but Sera and Ender together didn't feel like they balanced each other out at all. It missed the mark completely and left a sour taste in my mouth.

Not sure how she fixed the rift in the realm by time traveling. It was like a lesson of letting go and living in the present but I still don’t understand how it resolved the unrest of souls so quickly and easily.

I don’t know how I feel. This is one of my least favorite from this series. I get that there is trouble within the veil, but I really didn’t like how Ender treated Seraphina for 3/4 of the book. He almost infantilizes her and dismisses her opinions/feelings. He does eventually apologize for this, but it went on too long for me to find the majority of the book enjoyable. I deeply enjoyed the other books from this series, while this one seemed extremely rushed, and incomplete. There are grammar mistakes as well as sentences that just seem to abruptly end. Spoiler-ish from here down: The fact there is time travel at the end was just a weird addition in my opinion. It also didn’t add anything besides somehow solving the issue with the veil, which seemed more like a quick fix vs something that actually added to the story.

I mean.. I wanted a bigger fight a little more angst with the task hand.. instead we for the resolution that we got. lol Loved Ender but hated how he didn't communicate with Sera. Keeping something so big from your mate is never good. Appreciate that Sera has to grow herself to be able to accept Ender and not dwell on his alpha hole ness. Lol Overall happy I read the book and this entire series (so far)
Sera has been kidnapped by Ender, brought to the veil, and is told she isn't a prisoner... despite the fact that he keeps chaining her up. And while she's annoyed he kidnapped her, she doesn't understand why she's still completely attracted to him. Ender kidnaps Sera, determined to show her how to fly and train her to do what she was meant to as a guardian. Oh, and also she's his mate, so, there's that. As the two of them spend time with one another, it becomes clear that Ender is withholding secrets, secrets that Sera is determined to figure out. And as the veil is slowly torn apart, Sera begins thinking that there's definitely something more she can do to help.
This was hot. Like, listen, I'm not going to sit here and say Ender edging Sera to the brink and then stopping isn't totally hot, because it is, but also the moments between them are so thick with sexual tension that it's not even funny. I found it super annoying and yet highly amusing that Ender can read her mind all of the time, and responds to her inner monologue, constantly pissing her off. I wasn't sure how the whole veil thing was going to be settled, but I like how she points out the most obvious flaw in Ender's thinking, which knocks him down a peg from being this all-knowing being (because dude definitely doesn't know everything). I like the fact that, although he kidnaps her, he is still so gentle and patient with her, and of course how hard she falls for this monster with his corkscrew... part. Definitely an interesting pairing (if you've read Audited by the Anubis then you've met Sera before, and so seeing her grow here was a fun bonus after the events at the end of AbtA), and the spice here was well written and fun. Overall, this was a fun little monster romance and I am finding myself more and more obsessed with Wendi Guff's monster romances.
A book where the MMC lies to the FMC, continuously hides important stuff from her, infantilizes her and literally holds her prisoner- but then is HELD ACCOUNTABLE for it???!? And changes???? Dear God, I never thought I would see the day and I'm THRILLED.
That being said, he was really shitty at first, and though he realizes and makes things right, it feels like the FMC forgives him way too fast for everything he put her through. His positive changes come way too late in the story, and by the time we hit them I was already mentally checked out of the book. He'd spent nearly the entirety of it being an absolute ass to her, so it was too little too late for me.
Like I want to rate it more because it's so rare to see a toxic male lead de-toxify and make amends, but the romance portion felt so rushed (they started banging even when he was being toxic), the entire plot could have been resolved easily if he had just been honest in the first place, and the FMC's growth is rushed, and her tragic backstory glossed over in favour of dwelling on his.
I read audited by the Anubis when I was first getting into this series over a year ago and absolutely loved it. I was so excited to see that this book was about Sera and Ender, and basically picked right up where that book left off. I honestly forgot about their dynamic at first but felt like I was bout to jump right back in once I started reading. Sera and Ender had so much sexual tension and just tension in general. I loved all their banter and seeing them slowly peel each other’s layers back, sometimes without the other one wanting them too. Maintaining balance and the life and death trope is always so satisfying to me; Sera and Ender were basically mirrors of each other.
The spice was amazing and had some unique touches that I liked. It’s also interesting to see how an author maneuvers an MC having a beak. There was beak play, wing play, edging, bondage and some unique equipment from Ender as well. I wish there were more tender and sweet moments between them, especially from Ender opening up but I still enjoyed their dynamic so much. It was a great addition to the series and I can’t wait to dive into the next book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Edged by the Erlking is a dark, intense, and seductive monster romance that pushes boundaries and tests limits. When Maeve is kidnapped by Ender, the Erlking, she’s thrown into a world of power, danger, and irresistible temptation. Ender is infuriating, teasing her mercilessly while holding her captive, but the tension between them is impossible to ignore. Ender is an enigma—dark, dangerous, and painfully alluring. He brings Maeve to the brink, emotionally and physically, only to pull back at the last moment. The push-pull dynamic is intense, and the build-up is as torturous as it is delicious. But beneath the cruelty, there’s something deeper—a connection that neither of them can deny. While the story delivers on the heat and the tension, the emotional arc feels slightly rushed. I wanted more exploration of Maeve’s internal struggle and Ender’s motivations. But if you’re in the mood for a dark, spicy ride with a morally gray hero who walks the line between torment and devotion, this one will definitely edge you to the brink.
honestly I enjoyed this much better than the first book of this series. You definitely need to read the first book, Audited by the Anubis, first because it is sort of a continuation and mentions the other characters throughout. I loved the enemies to lovers, and it was definitely a fast paced read that jumps right into it. I will say it doesn’t get a high rating because the solution to the whole problem seemed way to fast and I was confused as to how Sera fixed the rift with what she did. It didn’t seem fluid and the order of events was odd, like I’m still not sure what she actually did to fix the problem. But everything else was great and the two main characters are so fiery and opinionated.
Another book in the Monsters Meet Cutes saga, but in this case, it is recommended that you read Audited by the Anubis. The plot moves quickly, and it doesn't focus as much on the characters as we're used to seeing in this series. Ender always sees the negative side of things, and Serah is always positive; they complement each other, but I would say this couple lacked spark. I must admit that they were not my favorite in this series. However, Wendi always surprises us with the special peens of her monsters. I would have liked to see a bit more of both characters. I can't wait to keep reading more from this series.
Quotes: “There’s nothing wrong with being soft. Again, it’s not a weakness. It’s ok to be vulnerable.”
"Trust is more than the truth. It’s about confiding and sharing those worries we would rather bury deep inside of ourselves and ignore.”
"They’re too large for her body—bigger than even mine—but that’s the consequence when one tries to snuff out who they are. A person can spend a lifetime pretending to be someone they’re not, but eventually, everything will catch up."
I liked Sera and Ender, although the uh......beak sex I could NOT take seriously. Also, I thought that his beak was a skull like...mask and not his ACTUAL face, but I digress
The story was interesting, although I think I need to have read the Anubis one to make this one more cohesive because I'm pretty sure Sera being kidnapped happened at the end of that?
Also, the ending felt like a cop out, but it still blended well with the other storytelling to add for a nice finish. I don't think I'll pick this up for my personal collection, but I did enjoy reading it, albeit the mind reading thing is a bit odd imo

Ender wants to get Sera ready for what is to come. He takes her against her will and will teach her one way or the other. She isn’t happy but does come around and lets Ender start training her. The Veil is Ender’s home and he wants to save it cause if not it will have major consequences for the rest of the universe. He needs to get Sera ready but has many hidden agendas he doesn’t want to share. But when he does things between them change. Together they cannot only help the issues happening but they can help heal each other.
I think I waited too long between reading this and audited by the Anubis because I was really confused at the beginning
Ender was annoying and I didn’t really get the love vibes between them
I wish there had been more sex scenes and less talking. I did really enjoy the face fucking
I was really excited to read their story, but after reading it, I think it might be my least favorite of the series. It was 200 pages and felt like it lasted forever. It felt like a lot was happening but nothing was really described. The epilogue was my favorite though, it was super cute
This was an adorable story. I love that it wasn't instant love from parties. It was there, but also not. They both worked to fight it for very different reasons.
It was heartwarming to see the FMC work to help heal the MC. She was the perfect herione in all ways for this story. Also loving that while it had a sweet HAE, it didn't end with the couple having children. I enjoy a happy ending that doesn't require offspring.
And one last note: the beak scene 🥵🫣 I don't know that I could have created such a scene, but it was so good.
I was really looking forward to this story after I read Audited By the Anubis... But the way the author abruptly starts things was a turn off for me. No background? I felt like I'd missed the first chapter, and wondered if there was a prologue she'd forgotten to include. Even after Anubis, this story flops around, desperately trying to find it's feet. And fails. Pity, as Sera was one of my favorite characters in this series.
I definitely didn't hate this, but it felt like the first novel, despite being one of the later ones. There are parts that feel very rushed or things just get glossed over. There's a lot of dialogue to the point I don't know who's talking because it's constant back and forth. I almost didn't finish, but I loved Seraphina from Audited by the Anubis, so I really wanted to like this one. Just very meh.
Ehhhh I didn’t love this one. I wanted to, I really did, but the beak-riding mid air threw me off 🫣 the most egregious part was how everything was how everything was resolved so easily. I get that it’s a fluff monster romance but then why make the problem so huge? I also was never able to form a good mental image of the characters and felt the need (rather than the desire) to reference the cover art which was frustrating.
ANNOYING! There is nothing to like about either of these characters. They are both stupid and arrogant and whatever else that it makes every interaction between them insufferable. Also corkscrew dick? Like a duck? Really bad explanations on what is going on in here, none of it makes sense, especially for the sex. Boring plot that doesn't get explained until the end as if the author is edging you with ending this already
Ender and Sera live in opposite words she sees the good whilst hes always waiting for the bad. but together their chemestry is off the charts! she wants to return hometo normality from Enders world but he knows she shis mate and wont let her go so easily, well written fast paced, steaamy hot monster/human fated mates romance!
This one was so good - i love that it was connected to Fern's story; i also think it helped that the characters were already established so we could dive right in. I really love the whole life-marries-death to keep the balance or whatever & Ender was so fricken cute; we all know i love the grumpy ones. One of my favorites of the series.
Another fabulous book in a great series and I loved them all and this is Seraphina and Ender’s book and what a ride it was as the both overcome issues. But to save the Veil and his home Ender takes Seraphina with him yo train her for what is coming but can they work together and save the Veil and everyone else.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I decided to read this one. It was paced in an awkward way that things were happening exceedingly fast. I got a glimpse of the characters from a previous book and they both seemed interesting but in this book, their personalities fell short. I don’t even understand how they fell in love with each other?
Wendi always has such a beautiful mix of plot and spice. She is always an instant read for me. Not to mention, there is always some special "equiment" to make the spice hit just right. Short, sweet with mild angst over a collapsing realm, but everything is resolved fast. Light read for between heavier reads.
