First off, love that 2 friends wrote this together. That is some bestie goals if you ask me!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the novella. Yes, it was short and yes, I would have loved a deeper dive into specific areas like her 2 days in the winderness and after they mated. BUT did the story get across and gave me a HEA, absolutely!!
There were a few grammatical errors, but nothing that would change the context of the sentence.
I do have to say I loved the MC!!! Ughhhh, I wouldn’t mind going back in time and being told ‘hey you, you’re my mate. Now you are mine.’ I’d be like hells yeah, I’m all signed up.
I enjoyed how it was a time travel, alien piece. I don’t think I’ve ever read a concept like that.
But I am dying to see an epilogue!!! I want to see their cute children!!!.

Cressida (h) is somehow transported from a museum visit in Amsterdam to Earth’s stone age past and unwittingly finds herself in danger of being burned at the stake by primitive peoples. Irick (H), an alien from the planet of Perse, ended up stranded on Earth when the slave trader ship he was held on crashed, and lives an isolated life except for the gifts from the primitive peoples who seem to believe him a god and his AI companion, Cygnus. He comes to Cressida’s rescue only to take her to his mountain home where he begins to wonder if she is his mate. Poor Cressida…keeps using a nerve-pinch to subdue her and he has his work cut out convincing her that she’s meant to be his. Loved Cygnus offering advice and suggestions, which were kind of funny at times. Irick, Mr. Goldens Pecs, was sweet as he tried to look after Cressida, and some of his conversation with Cygnus and Cressida were pretty funny too. Hot and steamy alien-human fated mates, time travel romance with plenty to make you smile.
OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.
Irick and Cressida met when he comes to save her from getting burned at the steak. Cressida is taken into what she believes is time travel to a place she doesn't know and can't find anyone or anything. Irick is on this strange planet because of the crimes he committed, he was shunned from his own. Cressida walks for days before some people find her, but she can't talk to them, she doesn't understand them. When Cressida is being dragged to a fire with a pole in the middle she realizes they are going to kill her. Irick is told that there is a woman the villagers are going to burn at the steak because she pissed their leader off. Irick's AI Crg tells him she is just like him and has traveled from another time. Irick is working on his circuit board and leaves to help out Cressida. When Irick arrives he yells to all the villagers and they stop what they are doing, he commands one to untie Cressida. When Cressida is released she headbutts the brute who tied her up and starts to run, Irick, catches her and knocks her out with the touch of his hand to the back of her head. Irick takes Cressida back to his fortress, cleans her up and puts her in his bed. Cressida wakes in an unfamiliar bed, then she realizes she's naked. When Cressida was sleeping Irick and Crg uploaded all they could about her language. When Cressida asks where she is, Irick tells her she's home, then she asks him to step into the light. Cressida's command makes the lights brighter, so that she can see Irick. Irick installs a language processing implant into Cressida, Crg tells him maybe he shouldn't knock her out since it takes her so long to recover. When Cressida awakes, she asks Irick if he makes it a habit of kidnapping woman, but he assures her she's the only one. Irick and Cressida have some language barriers as they try to communicate to one another. Cressida finds out that Irick plants a chip in the back of her neck, and that he washed her clothes for her. Irick feeds Cressida, and gets her something to drink. Crg interrupts letting him know one of the sensors is out and Irick must take care of it right away. Irick leaves Crg to answer any questions Cressida has. Cressdia asks Crg lots of questions about Irick, she finds out about being marked, sure enough she has marking on her neck. Cressida tries to understand the Perse way but then she gets tired and crawls into bed. When Irick returns he finds Cressida in bed asleep, he asks Crg what she questions she had but he won't tell. Irick lays on the floor next to Cressida and falls asleep, when he wakes she's not there. Irick asks Crg where Cressida went he finds out she needed to relieve herself. When Cressida comes out she tells Irick they needs some ground rules. Cressida heads back to the fortress and takes in the garden, she knows Irick has done all this work himself. Cressida talks to Crg about Irick, and she finds out he's been her for ten years alone and that they were brought together for a reason. When Irick comes back Cressida launches herself into him and he catches her. Cressida kisses Irick, he asks her if everything is alright. When Irick finds out that Cressida is in an aroused state he tells Crg to leave them. Cressida tells Irick she's ready for their bounding to start but he wants to make sure she's ready. Irick tells Cressida he will wait but she tells him she doesn't want to wait. Irick pleasures Cressida then they make love. Cressida tells him she loves him and Irick tells her he loves her as well. A few months later, Irick asks Cressida about what she did on earth, he know she was an art teacher. When Irick asks her if she did art herself Cressida tells him she did. Irick tells her he found some tools she could use to draw and produce colors, Cressida realizes she'll be creating cave drawings. Irick tells her he wants her to make their house a perfect place for their children, Cressida asks him if they can have kids. Irick tells her that the Tides would not have brought them together if they were unable to produce children. Irick doesn't know when they will have children but they will create a life together and it will be soon. They have their whole lives together and Irick doesn't want to miss a moment of it.

Cressida is a high school art history teacher from Texas. She has also cared for her mother for years. After her mother's death, she decides to take a trip to Europe to view some of the art she had taught in her classes.
Strange, weird things are always happening to her, so why wasn't she more surprised when, while in Amsterdam waiting in line at the Van Gogh Museum, something happened? She has no idea of exactly what happened. She must have a head injury because nothing is making sense. She only knows she's someplace where she doesn't belong. Someplace, where the people remind her of the theories of the history of early humans. Someplace, where the leader, Torvin, didn't appreciate being pepper-sprayed. Someplace where she's sure she's going to die...
Irick was banished from his home planet of Perse after being accused of treason. He was banished to a lunar prison but kidnapped by slave traders. However, the trader's ship crashed on this barren planet, Earth. The inhabitants consider him to be a god, and compared to them, he is.
After the crash, he'd salvaged all the electronics he could find to take with him. He also took the AI historian, Cygnus, with him. Cyg may not be alive, but he's someone to talk to when Irick is lonely.
He once believed in the Tides of Be’lah, that everything that happens to you during your life brings you closer to your mate, who will complete you so you'll fulfill your destiny. He's been waiting on Earth for 10 years before Cressida appears. Maybe it’s time to once again become a believer. The hardest part will be convincing her that there are fated mates, let alone that she's his.

Mated to the Grumpy Alien is a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, grumpy-sunshine time travel, fated mates, curvy girl gets her Alien romance And it's so good!! Cressida is a sassy, curvy, spitfire art teacher from Texas who is somehow transported back in time to more primitive times while in Amsterdam. Idrik is a hunky, golden (literally) alien who was exiled from his home planet and crashed on earth about 10 years ago. The primitive villagers think he is a god who lives on their mountain. When his AI assistant lets him him know a villager is in trouble, he checks it out to find Cressida is about to be burned as a witch. He jumps in to save her, knowing she is his soulmate. The antics these two go through are hysterical, think comedian talking to someone who takes everything literally. Cyg is hysterical. Their chemistry was insanely hot, and we got some seriously sexy scenes!! After the drama, we also got a very happy ending....Ya'll, this is the first Alien book I truly loved. These two ladies knocked it out of the park. It is hysterical. Both the inner monologs and the banter between the couple had me rolling on the floor and snorting literally. Gold star 🌟 ladies!!!
There are so many funny lines, but these are probably two of my faves...
"So, to sum up:Art teacher, orphan, Amarerdam, cataclysm, head injury, pepper spray, impending death. Now you know everything. "
"When I reached the item she called a bra, I'd been horrified. The skin beneath her fabric was chafed red. The binding clearly too tight. Naturally, I destroyed the offensive item." 🤣🤣🤣(ALSO HEARD IN EVERY WOMAN'S MIND ALL THE TIME!!! )
Cressida goes to Europe after caring for her ailing mother, who has now passed on. She gets pulled back in time during an Event. The people there try to burn her at the stake. Originally, Cressida is from Texas, and she was a high school art teacher. Although, he is not a God, but is an alien, he is perceived as one. Irick is from the planet Perse, and after he was caught, he was jailed, he was captured by slave traders and the ship crashed on Earth. He has been living there in a Caldera (which is beautiful btw), with his AI, Cygnus. Cyg tells him what is about to happen to the woman and he goes and saves her. There are a lot of funny parts in the book. Cressida ends up in his home. She freaks out. It is a good thing she has her phone and tablet, as Cyg used that to help Irick communicate with Cressida. It is very cool. I was impressed. I laughed aloud a lot while reading this book and it isn’t very long. Irick is definitely a grumpy alien. I was fascinated by his people’s beliefs and I can’t wait to read more about it. I hope that there will be more books about Perse. I am addicted. They are very romantic. I liked learning about his family.
Cressida freaks out a lot because he (to her) is talking nonsense. So there are cultural misunderstandings. I found that there are a lot of Star Trek-isms, which I loved because I’m a Trekkie. Irick has a pinch like a Vulcan. Lol. I appreciated Cressida’s snark.

Cressida is happily on vacation minding her own business when suddenly there is an earthquake of sorts and she finds herself in the middle of literally nowhere and nowhere near civilization with humanoids (maybe neanderthals?) who don't even speak her language. She is almost burnt at the stake - or perhaps they were going to roast her for dinner, but she is rescued by Irick, whom has some how made the commoners believe he is a God. Turns out he is an alien with advanced technology so he is able to communicate with Cressida, and she has time travelled, or travelled to a parallel universe, and the rest is history. Pun intended.
A grumpy alien caveman time travel and a sassy art history teacher. It almost sounds like the authors drew the story elements from a hat and were in a game or competition to make it work together, but YES they did deliver!
This was a short, fun story that was my first alien caveman time travel (how many have you read?) and I enjoyed it. To be honest, I have read other caveman time travel books and always wondered how they were going to live without ANY technology or anything (and having to go through childbirth??) so I liked how this story panned out. And also, I almost passed on this book, but I have enjoyed many of Kat Baxter's books so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. Thank you for writing this book, it was quite a trip (ha!)

'Surely there was no way that the Tides of Be’lah intended for me to be branded a traitor, captured by slave traders, and stranded on this damn planet. Surely there was no way all of this was bringing me closer to my mate. I hadn’t believed for a moment that this was my destiny. Until I saw her.'
I recently read Rescued by the Alien Vhar'Khyng and fell in love with this world and it's characters and the overall concept and decided then I'd just have to read them all. *wink*
I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and characters. This book wastes no time when Cressida sums up what happened to her- right before she is about to be burned at the stake as a witch by a primitive species she can't communicate with. Irick was a prisoner crash-landed on this planet. He prefers belong alone and only his AI, Cyg, for company when Cyg tells him about an outsider woman like him about to be burned alive.
Can I just say- I loved Cyg. I can always appreciate an AI with a bit of sass.
The story was fun, and the chemistry between Cressida and Irick immediate.
'She is my perfect mate, the other side of my coin, as it were. I will protect her at all costs.'
I found their banter amusing, as well as her struggle between liking and disliking his aparent lack of personal boundaries.
I loved Cressida from the moment she opened her mouth (well, not in a literal sense, it was listening to her inner dialogue). She was such a snarky, sarcastic character (in a good way). Nothing seemed to go right for her and she wasn’t entirely convinced she hadn’t gone from the frying pan into the fire when she was rescued by a sexy, golden alien. Irick had been stranded on the planet for close to a decade, with no one for company but the primitive villagers below the mountain, so he was more than surprised to see a woman dressed in unusual clothing being dragged through the village. Though no more shocked than when he discovered she was his be’lahshuk. It was fun watching Irick and Cressida try to figure each other out; there was definitely a bit of a culture clash here. Irick’s AI companion, Cyg was another great character with his unintentionally dry humor, always lurking in the background to give unsolicited information/advice. My biggest disappointment was the ending, which, left me hanging (to put it mildly) and although Irick and Cressida had finally consummated their bond, it seemed like there was still a lot of unfinished business. CRESSIDA is a young woman who teaches art in high school. She is finally free from all responsibilities and is talked into visiting art museums in Europe. BUT (!!) while in line to enter a museum there's a cataclysm and when she wakes up she has no idea where she is. Now she's being tied to a stake and in the process of being set on fire. Meanwhile IRICK is safely ensconced in his cave above the local village when his AI interrupts him to tell him there's a woman who needs help. He's not particularly interested until the AI tells him she seems to be out of time like he is. He is from Perse and the slave ship he was a prisoner on crashed on this planet. Curiosity aroused he checks and is surprised to see her and what a HER!!!! To his surprise he recognizes her as his fated or be’lahshuk. Will Cressida be able to come to terms with her life now? Or will she be able to go back er forward to when she was? Will she? A cute out of time story that will tickle the reader's funny bone in how two people meet. But put an AAAAAAAAAAAAW! on their lips to follow their story.

I’m really not one for time travel books, but since it’s a Kat Baxter book, of course I had to read it! It turns out, I DO like time travel books. Cressida is an art history teacher on a European tour. While in Amsterdam, she is transported back in time to what it seems like cavemen times. She is being treated like a witch and is to be burned at the stake. Enter Irick, he has been banished from his home planet and he was captured by pirates whose aircraft broke down and left him stranded on earth. The villagers treat him like a god and he accepts that, but when he sees Cressida in trouble, he steps in. Cressida manages to get freed with Irick’s stepping in and demanding her release. She then manages to escape so Irick has to hunt her down. He knows that she is his mate. Seeing as how she does not believe in such things, he has to convince her. There are some steamy parts where he tries to convince her. There are some funny moments as well. Overall, this was a fantastic book that is definitely worth the time to read!!!.

This was a wonderful book. It has time travel, a hot alien, and lots of steam! Cressida finds herself in the far distant past captured by a village of barbarians who are about to burn her at the stake. Never fear our red-headed time traveler is going to be rescued by Irick. I love the building of the relationship between Irick and Cressida. He's such a great character who has been alone for so long. Finally, he has the perfect mate for him. You will enjoy this book!

Oremos!
Mated to the Grumpy Alien is a standalone historic/sci-fi/time travel romance by Kat Baxter and Emma Lee Jayne, and is part of the My Alien Caveman collection. I absolutely adored the first book and looked forward to more. And I absolutely adored this book too, although they are in no way connected.
This is a quick, fun, instalove where an alien stranded on ancient Earth finds his fated mate in a time travelling human from the twenty first century. This is a fun book that mixes ancient society with advanced technologies, a mysterious cataclysm triggering time travel and a lonely humanoid alien that is ready for the love of his life. Cressida is a strong woman who displays a believable amount of suspicion as she gets to know her alien saviour. I also loved the quirky AI computer, Cyg, who is the brains behind much of Irick's mountain home.

American girl Cressida is on a European museum tour when she suddenly finds herself sent back into stone age and the only person stepping up against a gang of angry locals wanting to burn her as a witch is a gorgeous golden guy who claims to be an alien and is very, very keen on taking care of her. In every imaginable way. I was in a reading slump of sorts when it came to my notice that Kat Baxter and Emma Lee Jayne have written a steamy time travel story with an alien in it??? That I just had to see. And I was not disappointed. The story engages from the get go with lots of self-deprecating humour and instant action. The world building is solid and pacing is good and the main characters just lovely. Cressida is a plucky lady, a true champ, she just will not let herself be beaten down, doesn’t matter how many times life tries to do so. And Irick, our alien guy, is a dreamy, not particularly grumpy, down-to-earth, superb specimen of the male gender with hints of a very interesting backstory. I’m all about giving the story ten out of five stars when very suddenly, bang, the story ends. Yes, there is HEA, no cliffhanger but… I have so many questions that need to be answered! About Irick’s past, about the direction their life will take. Anyway, the authors hint at a bonus epilogue and even a series that takes place in Irick’s world (!!!), so technically, this book could be considered as a prequel, I suppose. My rating factors in the hope that all my questions will be answered some day. Fingers crossed.

A little bit of an Outlander feel with the travel back in time. It also has a bit of a Star Trek feel to it with the alien technology and the translator chip. Although the translator chip reminded me of AHGTTG and the babel fish. There was a great line in the book about Bella Swan and how she should have handled Edward that made me chuckle. The build up to the mating scene was fun and I like that even though it was a fated mates, that Cressida didn't just jump in immediately but took some time to warm up.
I already love Kat Baxter's writing and will read anything she puts out. But this was my first intro to her bestie and writing partner Emma Lee Jayne. Guess I now have a new author to scope out and read her backlist. Hoping to see more collab works from these two, especially if it's more of this blended world.

The authors make this fated mates alien romance work because the internal dialogue from Cressida Jones is a scream. You will find yourself laughing out loud constantly. While the art history teacher was on a much needed vacay after the death of her mother, Cressida was apparently the victim of a cosmic event as she was trying to enjoy touring the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. Next thing she knows is that barbaric Vikings are trying to roast her, after she pepper sprayed them. They didn’t like that…LOL. 😝 Lucky for her that Irick, a “visitor” from the planet Perse is there to rescue her. That’s all I’m saying. There are no spoilers for this hilarious short story. There are a few typos that need to be addressed but overall this is a well written story. I expect no less from Baxter and her bestie. I have received an ARC via Booksprout and I am leaving an unbiased review voluntarily.
I absolutely loved the humor in this book! The FMC was hysterical, yet relatable. I really liked how realistic she felt and how she came to accept things. I loved the romance in this book as well in the meaning behind the whole Bella Shook word (that I have no idea how to spell). I also loved the whole concept of time travel in this book and how our own night sky translated into this. I just thought that was so cool!
Despite really enjoying this book, it was in definite need of an editor. There were wording mistakes through the first half, which didn't really bother me. But around 50/60%, it got to the point where I had to stop and make sense of what I was reading in order to continue on. Had these errors been caught, I would have given this book a better rating.
My only other complaint is how this book ended. It just felt so abrupt! I would have liked the scene to come to a close and maybe for there to have been a small epilogue? I get that this was a novella, but it seems like this was a little rushed through.
Overall, this was a decent book but just really needed a little more TLC.
Mated to the Grumpy Alien is a sweet short story with two lonely beings finding each other through some very unusual circumstances. For MFC Cressida it was being pulled through a cosmic anomaly into Earth’s past. About to be burned at the stake by the primitive locals for being a witch she is rescued by alien warrior MMC Irick who they believe is a God. He had been stranded there himself when the prison ship he was on crashed. Alone for a long time until the fated mate he believes was gifted to him appears, Cressida. I loved this story and as always with the short ones wished it had been longer. Wonderful characters, a fun narrative and the kinda Vulcan nerve pinch Irick used had me chuckling as it delivered an excellent read.

The blurb for this novella was super intriguing and a must read. The combination of time travel and an alien with an AI sidekick was fun.
Irick is thrilled to discover his fated mate after 10 years stranded on Earth. Cressida is having one shocking experience after another - an seismic events throws her back in time to a cold and desolate area, she’s captured and nearly burned at the stake as a witch before being rescued and claimed by a golden warrior.
The story could have easily been expanded to a full length novel so the authors could have delved into greater detail on Irick’s past. Irick’s and Cressida were well matched, but I have to wonder what kind of future they will have stuck in such a primitive time period.

Oh my goodness did Cressida of Austin make me laugh. It was like she was doing and saying everything that’s in my head when I need a fantastic zinger to sling at some poor soul who unknowingly managed to trigger my not-so-Easy button.
In Cressida’s case, her poor soul is Irick, an exiled, golden god of Persae. He’s yummy, he’s stunned from finding his mate (Cressida), and he nearly blows his chance with her, the first time he gives her 0rgasms. Let’s just say, Irick came in HOT.
But Irick perseveres. His love for Cressida is so sweetly pure and we’re left with a lovely, $exy, story between two lost people l who find each other in the strangest of ways.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I purchased a copy. This is my honest, 🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️ review!
There are times when I swear I am Cressida in that "it could only happen to me" sort of thing. This was a really fun read and I really enjoyed it. I especially liked how whlie she worked through not getting home, the entire thing was not about her attempting this or fighting with Irick over it. Yes, she took time to process it but then again so would most people. It made you feel like you knew her. As for Irick, as usual there was some form of misunderstanding but it was not because of a lack of communication, it was of language and culture. He respected her and boundaries when set. The humour was good too and to be honest I don't think he was that grumpy but maybe he was before Cressida turned up! All in all a great book.
This book is part of the multi-author My Alien Caveman series featuring the curvy-girl, mistaken identity, romantic, sci-fi,time travel romance between Irik and Cressida. Cressida took care of her mother until she passed away and it took a toll on her so she went to Europe. While in Europe she goes to an art museum where she is mysteriously transported back in time to another planet. Upon her arrival she's seen as a threat and they want to burn her at the stake but Irik comes to her rescue since he believes that she's his soul mate. You really need to read this humorous curvy-girl, mistaken identity, romantic, sci-fi, time travel romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

This was an amazing story. I loved every second of it. This is a change from what Kat Baxter normally writes but I can only hope she keeps writing in this genre.
Cressida goes on a much needed vacation so she goes to Europe. Something happens and she nows finds her in another time and a much different world than she is use to. She meets Irick after she is rescue from a village. Irick is from another world and very much alone. He is vastly different from the people on the world that he crashed landed on. When he sees Cressida, he discovers that she is his soul mate. Will they find happiness ever after for them?

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a short, funny, sweet and steamy time travel, alien romance. There was an event felt across the world, and women are disappearing at a fast rate. I enjoyed taking a trip thru time with Cressida to find Irick and Cyg. I liked the aspect of AI helping him with his new world and his new mate. It was a fast paced story, with plenty of humor. Their attraction was intense but Cressida isn't as sure as Irick is. I wished the ending was done a little different. I guess I just wanted more from them, but overall it was a good romance with plenty of unknowns and passion. I am looking forward to reading this entire series and see how things play out
Cressida is on vacation in Europe. She is sent back in time. She has no idea how it happened. Cressida is in a viking village. She is mistaken for a witch. She is taken captive, and is going to be burned at the stake. Irick is alerted by his AI, that a woman is in danger. He rescues Cressida, and takes her to his home. He realizes that she us his fated mate. Irick's mating symbols spark to life. He takes care of her, and inserts a translator chip behind her ear. Will Cressida accept Irick as her mate! This is a short, instalove, curvy girl, alpha alien male, HEA story. Cressida is a teacher who has devoted her last several years taking care of her mom who just passed away. As she is traveling, she gets transported to another time where she is thought to be a witch. As the townspeople are planning to burn her at the stake, Irik comes to stop them realizing he has met his true mate. Irik was banned to this planet from his home due to treason. He lives in the mountainside and brings Cressida there to help her rest and recover. I find Cressida witty, hilarious, and could definitely relate to her.

Cressida is mysteriously transported from an art museum to another planet. When she arrives, she is first seen as a threat, and her life is in danger. She is saved by Irick, who is also a prisoner who was banished from his planet. Irick believes she was delivered to him because she is his soulmate, and now he just has to convince her.
I read this book simply because I read everything this author writes even though I am not usually a sci-fi reader. Overall, I liked the concept of this story. The characters were likable, and the story was good.
ARC was provided by Booksprout, and this is my honest review.
A short and sweet story in the “My Alien Caveman” series, this one is about Cressida, an art teacher from Austin Texas, who finds herself in a primitive era somewhere in Europe. She’s rescued by Irik, a golden alien from Perse, who rather resembles Hercules in her mind…
This is a fun, fast read, with a rather intriguing hero, who contrary to the name of the book, doesn’t really seem to be that grumpy! That being said, his story does sound fascinating, and I hope that the new series that this is the introduction for, will tell us more in the future! An enjoyable tale for SFR fans, and time travel lovers.
This was a fun and very entertaining story that makes you laugh.
