She's a crack shot. A once-famous artist. And missing.

DS Liz Moorland's world changed with the last case. Breaking the rules was a first for her but it got the result she needed and brought her to the attention of a new covert team. Now she has the resources to track down the man who played puppeteer in her life for decades. A man everyone believes is dead - again.

But the strange disappearance of an old friend becomes the priority of the team. Lyndall helped save the life of ex-Sergeant Vince Carter last year. His only neighbour in a remote area of Victoria, she's an enigma with a dark past and a panic room built into her house.

Who is Lyndall... or perhaps more importantly, who was she? And where is she now?

As Liz and the team plan a risky rescue, danger lurks where they least expect it.

From within their ranks.

Book 3 in the DS Liz Moorland series is fast-paced, gripping, and twisty. Read in order for the best experience.

When ex police officer Vince Carter contacted DS Liz Moorland through her friend and boss, Ben, she wasn't prepared for what she heard. Her first day on a new, covert team, Liz had barely stepped inside the building when Vince rang. But she headed to his farm with a couple of team members, only to discover Lyndall Smith, the woman on the next farm, was missing, presumed kidnapped, and Vince was frantic. As they investigated, searching Lyndall's farm for evidence, it became obvious that Lyndall's past had a lot to do with the current day.

As Liz and her team of operators prepared for what was coming next, she knew there was a chance Lyndall was no longer alive. But she had to go forward with the confidence that she was. Liz was exhausted, as were all of the team, but there was something within that didn't sit right with Liz. Could she put her finger on it? And would they find Lyndall before it was too late?

Wow! What a phenomenal read Lest Tides Turn is! Aussie author Phillipa Nefri Clark has nailed this one, which is #3 in the Detective Liz Moorland series, and I can't wait for #4. The new covert unit that Liz has joined, has mostly people she has previously worked with, including Pete, but she can tell the mix of talents are varying and will work well as they all pull together. Set in Victoria, it's a brilliant read which I recommend highly.

With thanks to the author for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

It is Detective Liz Moorland's first day with her new covert team but before she can even have her role explained to her she discovers a friend has been abducted. Suddenly the planned case is dropped and the team is directed to this new situation.

It was all very exciting - action all the way - a suspected leak in the team - more mystery around Liz's estranged father - some of the team members not getting along with others. There is hardly time to take a breath.

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a police procedural mystery but make sure to read the series in order. There is a lot of character growth and an overarching story line which develop from book to book and reading out of order would certainly spoil it.

Another brilliant story in this series, Liz Moorland is just so good and now she is part of a new secretive team, there are some people we know and love in with her, Pete, Ben Candice and a few new ones, with plans for their first case to finally find the man who fathered Liz, everything gets changed when old friend and partner Vince’s neighbour Lyndall is kidnapped and the teams jumps in and must get this case solved and Lyndall back before the police take over.

With the disappearance of Lyndall the search is on but there is a lot that Lyndall appears to have kept secret about her life before moving to this small country town, Liz always wondered why she had a panic room and the more the search uncovers the more that could lead to a very dangerous life before, but will they return Lyndall safe and well and will the team come through together, are all of them on the same side and the biggest question who is behind Lyndall’s disappearance in the first place and what is it that they want?

This is such an awesome story, twisty, dangerous for the team and the more they uncover they are realising that there could be links to someone else they are after, which way to turn, this one had me turning the pages and I could hardly put it down as Liz and the team are just starting out but is one of them not on the same path as the rest?

I was so happy to get this one to read and am now eagerly awaiting book four to see where all that they have uncovered ends, or will it. This is a fabulous story and series best to read in order but you won’t be sorry, I loved it so much and I do highly recommend it, Phillipa Nefri Clark never disappoints a must read author for me.

My thanks to the author for my digital copy to read and review.

Big thanks to Phillipa for sending us a copy to read and review.
The most eerie prologue I’ve read sets the scene beautifully for another encounter with DS Liz Moorland.
Atmospheric and tense as the mystery unravels.
Lyndall is the neighbour that lives next to ex Sergeant Vince Carter and was instrumental in saving his life.
Her disappearance from a house that was highly secured with a built in panic room was strange.
Her past and connections under scrutiny as Liz heads up a team to bring her home.
Clues and technology lead the way as they try and rescue her before the abductors do away with her.
Lyndall draws on experience and skill to survive the ordeal but desperate people do irrational things.
Liz really shines in this narrative that is full of suspense and the setting comes alive around familiar areas of Port Phillip Bay.
The intricate plot showing the talents of this diverse and entertaining author.

In book 3 in this series, life changes when Liz joins a new, secretive crime-fighting team with money and new technology to spare.

Unfortunately, before she can try to hunt down her father, her mysterious friend Lyndall is kidnapped for information. The team goes into action. Tense. Definitely more a thriller than a mystery.

Page turner

Lyndall disappears, and the new team Liz and Pete are on is trying to find her. But Lyndall has a secret past, and it takes a lot of digging to find out who she is and why someone wants her. Now I am off to grab book 4 in the series.

Love this police procedural/supsense series so much and Lest Tides Turn is the best yet. It is also my favorite Phillipa Nefri Clark series, but I am still investigating those.
