Excited to be enjoying a paid business trip to Hawaii, Penelope shares a cab ride with charming and handsome Emerson, a professional stage magician. However, having noticed him in the Seattle airport, then on the plane, and then sharing a cab, alarms sound when Penelope discovers that they're both staying at the same hotel.

Penelope doesn't trust coincidences. She hurries away, then sets out to explore exotic Waikiki. However, she keeps running into Emerson, on the street, at her medical convention, and in the hotel bar.

Worried, Penelope tries to avoid Emerson. Desperate for company, she agrees to go out with her fellow medical vendors, unexpectedly arriving at a dinner theater, where Emerson is performing.

Drawn up onto the stage for his final magic act, Penelope has never felt more threatened.

Confronting him in the hotel bar, Penelope accuses Emerson. But, while professing his innocence over drinks and appetizers, his charm overwhelms, her guard fails, and both drink way too much. They awaken in the same bed.

Penelope and Emerson begin dating, yet coincidences keep happening, and Penelope begins to suspect that their meeting wasn't pure chance.

A smart girl, Penelope catches Emerson having information he couldn't possibly know. She threatens to leave him forever. Yet Emerson confesses the strangest secret Penelope has ever the real purpose of stage magic is to convince everyone else that all magic is fake.

Drawn into an unexpected world of real magic, Penelope struggles. How do you trust a lover who can manipulate reality? Yet her greatest surprise has yet to be revealed.
