・ 。゚☆:A Secret Baby With My Brother’s Best Friend *.☽ .*:☆゚

☾⋆⁺₊🎧✩°。 0:32 ──♡───── 3:47 ☾⋆⁺₊🎧✩°。

🎶 Long were the nights when. My days once revolved around you 🎶

When Samantha (h) loses her virginity to her brother’s best friend, she doesn’t expect him to run away for years or for her to end up a single mother. Years later, Ryan (H) returns to town and is shocked to know he is a father.

─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

“A kiss,” I repeated in a softer voice. “Just one. Please?”

Ryan blinked and shook his head with a tense chuckle. “That’s cute, Sam, but I’m sorry, I can’t.”

Ryan released a long, shaking breath before saying, “Look, Sam, I’m flattered, really, but you’re…you’re just a kid. Plus, you’re my best friend’s sister! There are some lines guys just don’t cross.”

How do I put this nicely? The book was bad. Samantha asked Ryan to kiss her on her birthday, and he did, then it escalated into more, which is how she got pregnant. That's not the worst part. He felt guilty that he pursued her, left town, and didn’t return till six years later. He was upset when she found out she was pregnant, and she never told him. I don’t care about either of them. He was in contact with her brother and could have sought her out. She could have told him sooner and allowed him to be in Henry’s life. It’s entirely unrealistic that a girl drove him out of town. He seriously woke up and decided to leave and never come back. The fact that he said she was just a kid then fucked her and then left is insane.

She released a short, frustrated breath before continuing, “I’m neither confirming or denying that Henry is yours, all right? That’s just not a conversation I want to have with you right now. However, I don’t want you to say anything to Henry about any of this until after the wedding. I don’t want you confusing him, and I don’t want you causing any drama for Jason and Mandy.”

For six years, she provided for Henry alone, but now Ryan wants to take part in his son’s life, a son he didn’t know existed, and she doesn’t want that. I think it was cruel to make him wait and not tell him that he was his son when he was not a bad person and he had a genuine interest in being involved. I understand it’s her decision. However, it was terrible that these grown adults couldn’t have a mature conversation about parenting their child. They could have at least been civil to co-parent if there was no love between them.

“Your daddy didn’t know about you,” Sam said, running her fingers down Henry’s cheek. “He’d have come back sooner if he knew…

Sam released a long sigh. “I didn’t tell him, sweetie. I kept you a secret from him, and that was selfish of me. I’m sorry…

Henry looked back up at her with a confused frown. “Why didn’t…

The only good thing she did was talk well about Ryan even though he wasn’t in Henry’s life. She never made him out to be the villain, and that’s decent of her. Still, Henry took a liking to him way too fast, and they became inseparable, even though he was inherently a stranger. Realistically, that doesn’t happen.

“It doesn’t matter!” she cried, full-on shoving at my chest with both her hands. “We can’t undo what’s been done. We can figure out a way forward for you and Henry, but that’s where things between us end.”

With all of this happening, I didn’t care about the romance because it was never good. The moment they shared in the first chapter was not enough to convince me they deserved to have a relationship besides being co-parents. I don’t believe they were madly in love or cared for each other. It all felt too forced to be a resemblance of love. I’m disappointed with how they felt like they could be a family, even when he felt deep hatred for her because she hid his son and took years away from being a father. I won’t say more because it was that bad.

─── ・ 。゚☆: OVERALL *.☽ .*:☆゚. ──

It was not good. I did not care about the romance; she was terrible for lying to Ryan even though he wanted to be involved.

2.5 Stars Inconsistencies

The story was fine, characters likeable, very little issues with grammar and spelling. Beyond that, it was just eh.

A lot of the "drama" was contrived and it really didn't make sense. It was mentioned several times that her son looked just like the dad(Ryan) but nobody noticed in 6 years? Spitting image was even used, but everyone was shocked that Ryan was the dad? Couple that with him leaving right after they slept together, her coming up pregnant, and, AGAIN, them looking alike, and I wonder just how dumb these people are. The math ain't mathing.

I really enjoyed this book. On Samantha’s 18th birthday she asks her brothers best friend for a kiss and ends up hooking up with him. Ryan is so ashamed of crossing the line he disappears and doesn’t come back until 7 years later for his best friends wedding. When he finds out Samantha has a 6 year old son he quickly figures out it’s his child. Samantha and Ryan try to keep there hands off each other while navigating best man and bridesmaids duties and Ryan trying to get forgiveness for his past mistakes. It’s a fun quick read and I recommend. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was ok. I liked the mmc, but for the the mfc I didn’t care for. I didn’t like how Sam kept it a secret who Henry’s father was & made her family & friends swear to not tell anyone she had a kid. That’s messed up. Then when Ryan came back to town & found out about Henry, & did the math, he asked her if Henry was his & she straight up lied. When Ryan didn’t believe her she finally admitted it, but still didn’t want him to meet her son until it suited her. Everything had to be her way. I thought she was incredibly demanding, selfish & cruel. I agree how Ryan just left town after their night together wasn’t right, but he honestly didn’t owe her anything & after she had Henry her main priority should’ve been Henry, not her hurt feelings. Ryan had every right to know he had a son. One thing I had to roll my eyes at was how much Henry looked like Ryan & yet no one, not even his best friend- who was Sam’s brother, saw the resemblance.

Samantha is celebrating her 18th birthday in the woods with all her friends, when her brother Jason shows up with his best friend Ryan. She is drinking and perhaps a little bit tipsy. She decides she needs to talk to Ryan so they go off together. Ryan is quite shocked as they talk and she requests a special birthday gift....a kiss from him. He tries to deny her but in the end, he cannot. The interaction is so good they go a LOT further. She wakes up the next morning with quite a hangover. She joins the rest of the family when she hears Jason tell his folks that Ryan left town right after the party! She is devastated! That night's gift was presented 9 months later in the shape of a baby boy, Henry, and no sign of Ryan. Seven years later, Jason is about to be married and she is shocked to find out Ryan is coming back for it, not a word to her in 7 years. She has never told anyone who Henry's father is either. Jason and Ryan meet at the coffee shop when he finally gets there to discuss what he has to do for the wedding as best man. Ryan had not planned to go but he was being threatened by a former employee and decided to get away. He is shocked to learn the ring bearer is Sam's 6 year old son....and does the math! He goes to Sam's work and confronts her and she lets him have it verbally. He leaves once her boss comes out to see what is going on. He goes back to his empty family home. He then calls Jason and asks him to come over.....Jason put two and two together and Ryan confessed about his tryst with Sam. Jason is furious and tries to fight. Jason stomps off telling Ryan they are done! He confronts Sam for the truth. Cooler heads prevail as they work towards Jason's wedding. Ryan finally meets Henry and falls in love with his son. They do not tell Henry who he is yet. Henry falls in love with Ryan and Ryan and Sam get closer. Strange things start happening and get more and more violent. Ryan suspects it is the guy that was recently fired as he vowed to get even. Security is brought in. The day of the wedding arrives and Ryan and Jason have made up and are friends again. Everything goes smoothly. Ryan then receives word from the police that they got a tip that the man causing trouble may be hiding at the wedding venue! Security is tightened even more. Will he be able to keep Sam and Henry safe? Things get a little dicey for a while! His friends and family? Do the three of them have a future? I really enjoyed this story right to the last word!

Samantha Berner has always loved Ryan Carson, her older brother Jason's best friend. And when she turned 18, celebrating her birthday, and having some liquid courage, and BF Jessica cheering her on, Sam approaches Ryan with a request. It was suppose to be only a kiss. A secret kiss that no one would ever know about. Well, it turned into so much more. Sam was on a cloud even though Ryan left her rather awkwardly. The next day he left town, not speaking to anyone, and broke her young heart into a million pieces.💔💔

Life has a way to resolve things that are left unfinished. It's been 7 years and Sam, now 25, works in a bookshop while raising her son Henry. It's been hard work and Sam has become jaded, angry, bitter. Her brother Jason is getting married and his best man is none other than Ryan Carson. Guess who's back. And Sam isn't having it!! Oh no. She will make him regret returning to their hometown. She has to protect Henry and herself now.

Ryan Carson is now a wealthy man running and expanding his father's shipping business. He never dreamed he would come back to his childhood home. He's nervous to see Sam. They will have to talk sometime considering he's Jason's best man. And when he sees her, the attraction is there, and so is her anger.🤬🤬 I mean she let him have it. Wanting him to have some of her pain that's been festering.🎆🎆 He tried to apologize. Nope!!🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️ When he found about Henry, this man knew. He was honest with Jason. And pow! You knew that was coming.🎯

This was a fast read for me. I couldn't stop reading it. It's really good! I had to know if Sam was going to stop being so angry, which is understandable, but sometimes you have to forgive for your own mental health. Admit your feelings. I was very invested and the story flowed easily. Sam and Ryan still have strong feelings for one another. There's just so much hurt to get through. Trust to rebuild. Healing. Forgiveness. Because cutie Henry is first and foremost in this equation. There's some suspense from Ryan's past looming in the background. Not to mention the steam and spice of Sam and Ryan.🔥🔥🔥 Will they reach a compromise of the heart to possibly have a forever future? Poor Ryan hopes so. You'll have to read this one and find out. Recommend!! Happy reading!!💝💝 I like the bookcover.

🎶Thank you for an early read via Booksprout. This is my honest critique of the story.🎶.

I don't usually give one-star reviews, if it's at that end of rating scale it's usually a DNF for me. I think the only thing that had me pushing to finish this book was that it was short, and I'd already pushed through most of it. If you don't want spoilers stop reading here.

My number one issue with this book was the characters feeling very surface level and generic and I did not feel like there was any chemistry.
In the beginning of the book, I'm supposed to believe that the FMC has a crush on the MMC (her brother's best friend) and that he takes her virginity in the woods while her birthday party is going on. There is no mention of him even knowing he took her virginity- no big deal- and then he just leaves. Like leaves town for 7 years and the reason for this we find out later is just because he didn't think he should date her. Pretty weak. Meanwhile, he somehow maintains a friendship with her brother and returns for the brother's wedding, where of course he learns the hidden truth that the FMC has a son. He immediately jumps to the conclusion that the kid is his.
The FMC is generally terrible to him which let's be honest he did her dirty by taking her virginity and immediately leaving the state, but she made no effort to tell him he had a child FOR 7 YEARS. So I really struggled with how she treated him. They generally had no chemistry except somehow ended up doing it all the time. At one point while reading the smut scenes, I thought to myself, wow this is basically what I would think of as bad sex, and this is the end all be all for this girl? Because OH YEAH she also has never had sex with anyone else her whole life. How convenient.
I also felt like the "climax" in this book was pretty undeveloped. There is a storyline with a disgruntled employee from another state being "the villain," and in the end he puts hands on the FMC in an attempt to get back at MMC, we're not talking a serious assault here, just literally the guy puts his hands on her. She somehow ends up in the hospital from this? It seemed wildly unrealistic and also made her seem really weak, which lets be real a woman and a single mom is not weak. SO these were my qualms with this book. I originally picked it up as a pallet cleanser, but now I'll need another after reading this book.

Brooklyn Cox’s Secret Baby with My Brother’s Best Friend is an emotional, trope-filled romance that delivers moments of intrigue and heartfelt connection but doesn’t quite stick the landing for a seamless reading experience. While the book has its strengths, some aspects felt underdeveloped or stretched believability, which affected its overall impact.

The story centers on Sam, a single mom, and Ryan, her brother’s best friend, as they navigate a complex reunion years after a life-changing night. Sam’s dedication to her son and her ability to stand her ground make her an admirable character, while Ryan’s efforts to reconcile with his past mistakes add an emotional depth to his arc. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their moments of reconnection carry a mix of tension and tenderness.

The small-town setting adds warmth and charm to the narrative, and Sam’s son is a delightful presence, bringing heart and humor to the story. The book also explores themes of forgiveness, second chances, and the complexities of family relationships, which provide meaningful layers to the romance.

However, some elements of the plot strain credibility, particularly around the premise of Ryan not realizing he has a son despite ongoing connections with the family. The repeated emphasis on how much the child resembles him makes the secrecy hard to believe, and this inconsistency detracts from the story’s emotional stakes. Similarly, some of the dramatic conflicts feel overly contrived, creating tension that doesn’t always feel organic or earned.

On the technical side, the writing is clean and easy to follow, with no significant issues in grammar or style. However, the pacing can feel uneven, with certain moments rushed while others drag out longer than necessary. This detracts from the emotional buildup, especially in a story so reliant on rekindling trust and love.

Overall, Secret Baby with My Brother’s Best Friend offers a mix of heartfelt moments and romantic tension, but it doesn’t fully deliver on its promise due to plot inconsistencies and overly dramatic setups. It’s an enjoyable read for fans of the secret baby and brother’s best friend tropes but may leave some readers wanting more depth and cohesion.

A solid three-star read that entertains but could benefit from a tighter, more believable storyline.

I have read a few of Brooklyn Cox's books and thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone of them. Secret Baby with my Brother's Best Friend is definitely my favorite. Brooklyn's plot for this book was original, exciting, action packed, included just the right amount of intimate scenes and last, but not least wonderful characters. Brooklyn made me feel several different emotions while reading this book and she even managed to make me shed a few tears along the way. I felt deeply connected with both Samantha and Ryan making it easy for me to like them. If you like stories centered around heroes who are trying to right their past wrongs and heroines who are attempting to let go of the anger, hurt and bitterness those mistakes have caused then this is a book you will enjoy reading.

Ryan quickly leaves town with no goodbyes after making the mistake of sleeping with his best friend Jason's little sister Samantha. Now he has returned home after seven long years for Jason's wedding. This is when Ryan learns he left Samantha with a little piece of himself and discovers the struggles she has faced on her own as a single parent raising their son Henry. These two experience anger, bitterness, hurt, and feelings of betrayal as they try to work through past mistakes that can not be undone. The only way for Ryan and Samantha to find a happily ever after will require them to let go of their past and leave it where it belongs...in the past.

Brothers best friend

A brothers best friends romance.
Well it started with an18 th birthday party, booze and a birthday wish.
After the kiss turned hot and heavy, Ryan fled not wanting to hurt his bestie sister and didn't want to call out with his mate
Several years later he finds out about his son, now this I found unrealistic as he was in contact with his mate who scored his nephew.
Once he came back for his friends wedding and found out about his son he realised he wanted the whole family, he wanted Sam and Henry, a lot of Angst and anger from Sam keeps him on his toes but all comes right in the end.
It lost a star from me due to the unrealistic fact he didn't know he had a son when still in contact with his pal, had they only just reconnected it would have worked much better.

I have to admit that I was in love with this story from the beginning, but it took a turn that is a pet peeve of mine. Sam was in love with Ryan, her brother's best friend, but he keeps her at arm's length until she comes to him on her 18th birthday and he can no longer resist her. They have a night together but he panicks and ghosts her without a word. Now he's back to be the best man at her brother's wedding and this is when he loses me. He had no intention of coming home to Sam or even to reach out to her, so his interest in her and subsequent reunion was nothing but happenstance. It was cute, a nice story, but not believable in forming a connection.

This book was brilliant and missed the mark in others the grammar and spelling were also an issue

Sam and Ryan’s chemistry was good but parts were unbelievable like the fact Jason never mentioned Henry ever to his BEST friend but told his wife about what was happening in like two days

The fact Henry is his “spitting image” but nobody ever put the pieces together alone with the fact Ryan left the town never to return again and nine months later she gives birth surely someone did the math

Another hit by Brooklyn Cox. You can always expect well developed characters that take you through the gamut of emotions, and great sensual attraction. Ryan & Sam have all of that along with the cutest little boy that has such witty repartee. It pulls on your heart strings and leaves you with a smile. This book is a joy to read.

When Samantha asked Ryan for a birthday kiss, she got more than she bargained for. That kiss led to an intimate night and a pregnancy with Ryan fleeing. Years later he has returned to their hometown for her brother's wedding. Will he learn about Samantha's secret and will it lead them to happiness. A second chance for Jason and Samantha

This was a cute story about second chances. Sweet Samantha, on her eighteenth birthday, asked her brother’s best friend Jason for a kiss. Next the passion exploded in that kiss and one thing led to another. Unfortunately guilt surged in Jason and he ran away, leaving Samantha heartbroken. Jason did not return for seven years. Imagine his surprise upon his return. . . . Read On!

This is a very good second-chance romance storyline with drama, a secret baby, plenty of chemistry, a reunion, and a rekindling of feelings. The MCs are defined, have amazing chemistry, secrets are revealed and there is a possible HEA. I liked this entertaining and engaging book.

Samantha has been in love with Ryan as long as she can remember. But she cannot do anything about it because he is her brother's best friend. When Samantha turns 18, she is having a party in the woods and Ryan and her brother show up. Her friend goads her into asking Ryan to come talk with her privately. They walk deeper into the woods and she tells him how she feels. He tells her all the reasons it's a bad idea, but she asks for a kiss. Things go too far and they end up sleeping together. Ryan leaves the next day and never says goodbye. Time passes and Sam's brother Jason is getting married. Jason tells Sam that Ryan is going to be his best man and she says she doesn't want to be around him because of her son. Turns out that one night left Samantha with a broken heart and a baby. No one knows that Ryan is Sam's son's father and she wants to keep it that way. Ryan wants to talk to Sam, though, and she keeps trying to push him away. When Ryan finally sees his son for the first time, he's aware that he belongs to him without anyone telling him. Can Sam and Ryan work out their differences and become a real family?

It was OK!

It was a really good book! I feel as if there could have been a little more feelings though, like how did the parents feel when they found out he was the dad? I'd have liked to have read more about his feelings about it as well! But overall a good book! Did she ever buy the bookstore? Another question I definitely had as well!
