What a ride! This was a fast paced, dark mafia romance with a forced marriage/purchase between a mysterious ballerina named Naveah and a brooding alpha Capo battling a terminal illness named Caelian.

Caelian buys Naveah out of her contract at the dance academy which she’s been confined to for years. He says he’s dreamed of her—she’s been the light in all the darkness he’s endured with his illness, and he has to have her no matter the cost. They marry immediately, and for the first half of the book, Naveah is lonely and unhappy with her new life where her new husband treats her more like a doll than a human being with thoughts and feelings. Over time, their relationship progresses and Naveah finds her self genuinely caring for Caelian, and he begins to acknowledge that he should treat her better if he wants any chance at making her happy.

But in the midst of their budding romance, a mafia war ensues, with Naveah at its center. It seems that Caelian’s new wife was promised to someone else and he wants what he is owed.

The story is action packed, steamy, thrilling, and suspenseful, a refreshing take on mafia romance! Ends on a cliffhanger, so I will definitely be picking up book two as soon as it drops! Highly recommend!

Maybe it’s my fault for not researching the content warning, because I don’t know what “dubious consent” means but it seemed an awful lot like he bought her like cattle, literally forced her into marriage and then raped her. DNF and I won’t continue because there is no redeeming rapist.

I feel nauseous. If this is what dark romance is then maybe it just isn’t for me.

Sienne Vega has proven herself to be an auto-click author for me. If you are a fan of forced arranged marriages, organized crime themes or mafia romances, then this is a book for you. Additionally, it is giving modern-day dark and twisted Beauty and the Beast retelling.

The story revolves around Caelian, a formidable capo battling a mysterious terminal illness, and Nevaeh, a trained ballerina with a secret life in espionage. Their relationship is anything but conventional, filled with combative moments, twists, and a tantalizing hot-and-cold dynamic.

Caelian finds solace in dreams featuring a mysterious ballerina, only to have his reality collide with Nevaeh, whom he immediately takes as his wife. As their relationship develops, the layers of both characters are peeled back, revealing not only their personal struggles but also the intricacies of their dysfunctional and untrustworthy families.

I enjoyed the gradual progression of Caelian and Nevi's relationship. The characters don't profess their love within the first 50% of the book. The plot is rich with mystery, surrounding Caelian unidentified mysterious illness and Nevi's dad who's in hiding.

This is a dark book, not for the faint of heart. It's crucial to note that the book includes a trigger warning for SA.

With a captivating blend of passion, darkness and intrigue, this book is one you can devour in one sitting.

The hero was so intolerable and annoying with his shitty and aggressive/violent behaviour towards the heroine. It’s not remotely considered hot or swoony.

Oh and he’s a rapist and the heroine is so dumb and useless and a doormat. Gotta love and have that combo when writing our heroine I guess.

There’s no way the author described him as merely being “grumpy”

I can’t with these people

There is one ballerina that has plagued Caelian’s dreams and thoughts for years. Caelian spends most of his days sick with an illness and the one thing that keeps him from succumbing to his illness is his dreams of Nevaeh. Caelian buys Nevaeh out of her contract with her dance company and marries her. Caelian has dreamt of Nevaeh for so long, he forgets that she’s a real person with thoughts, feelings, and a past. She’s not his doll and Caelian finds that out the hard way. Caelian has his secrets he keeps from Nevaeh, but she has her own. Caelian is a stubborn and brooding MMC and coming to terms that his illness will most likely result with an early demise, he’s become selfish and cold. Nevaeh has spent majority of her life sheltered from most of the nefarious activities that surround her. While Caelian’s past is a lot more darker than Nevaeh’s, Nevaeh’s past hold more mystery. We as the reader and Caelian don’t know Nevaeh as well as we think we do. I need the second book. The cliffhanger left me with a lot of questions that only Brutal Impulses can answer.

Beast of burden

It's dark..not your everyday love story.. ..Mia Ballerina and the Capo takes a little getting used to..and it goes deep..twist and turn every chapter.. Everyone is a bad guy..everyone has secrets.. even the seemingly innocent beautiful ballerina..

This is a dark mafia romance story and I loved it. Nevaeh is a ballerina. She is facing her own challenges after being cast as lead and the rest of the dancers are teed off. She gets a watcher, a stalker. We meet Caelian, a mafia leader’s son, who seems to have no interest in the ‘family business’. He has had dreams of his ballerina and finally meets her and is determined to make her his own. The two people are opposites and I love reading the interaction between them and how he finally makes her his. They each have their own emotional baggage. The book is dark, so watch for the trigger warnings. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.

Another one!

A book about one mans obsession of a beautiful black ballerina who is handled like a doll. The young Italian capo who has to have her by any means is ruthless and is not only dangerous but doesn't care about anything or anyone but his ballerina. Suspense and family dynamics in this book is a trip. The action in this book is non stop and the erotica is as well. I hate we end on a cliff hangar and I'm ready for the next one.

She did it again!! This author CANNOT miss!! She wrote a ruthless vicious hero who is unapologetic about the woman he wants and loves. Caelian and Nevi are like a twisted modern day beauty and the beast, he sees her, decides he has to have her and forces her to marry him. Cael is a savage capo who only cares about what he wants and he wants Nevi. She’s the ballerina from his dreams. They were such a twisted cute couple. P.S. what does it say about me that my favorite scene was THAT scene of them in the snow 🙈🙈🙈

It ended on a cliff hanger that had me ready to scream and beg for book 2 but I guess we’ll just have to wait. 🥲🥲

3.5 stars love a lot of the elements to this story different than a lot of mafia books - sick mafia hero, weak mafia group, interracial couple. Captor captive and a dancer heroine will always be a dynamic I love in books so that was a win.But I found the romance lacking a bit because I didn’t quite understand the hero as much as I would have liked.

DNF. This book includes rape within the first 20 pages, yet the story still tries to frame their relationship as romantic. I couldn’t continue, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

SPOILER ALERT! I was not prepared for this book. If you think this is the usual tale of a ballerina and a mob capo, leave your preconceived notions at the door. It was reminiscent of how I think the ballerinas in John Wick were raised...beautiful sheltered weapons. Neveah was raised as a bargaining chip in a war she did not choose all because of her father's profession. I felt for her in the entire book. At first I thought it was pure naivety and she was a product of her environment. Towards the end I realized that she probably hid from the brutality of her situation and used dance as an escape. It takes a person with great strength to endure for years all at the behest of other people. Her mother was the ultimate piece of work! Constantly cajoling her to stay put and play her part in a word of untold horrors all to save a family who put her in that position in the first place. Then we have Caelian...also born in a family of brutal beings and living a life of untold suffering. He copes by denying himself nothing, even a ballerina, knowing that his days are numbered. Of all Sienne's villains he is not my favorite. While I felt for his condition and growing up knowing that you will never grow old, he used that as a excuse to treat others cruelly even poor Ms. Poitier (who no one would survive without). He has some type of angel complex when it comes to Neveah. It is pure obsession and because of this he further alienates her. To the point that any kindness by him is perceived as love. I think she has a bad case of Stockholm syndrome. By the time she finally confesses to all that's going on in the end, I was dying to know if Caelian was going to hunt his love down John Wick style. I can't wait for book 2.

i hate how rape is being romanticized here….everyone he does to her is forceful…literally couldn’t finish this book…maybe dark romance isn’t for me?
and he literally limits what she can do…she can only talk to her mom for 5 minutes because that’s all he “allows”…the woman in this book are weird fr.
he leaves her home alone for long periods of time and doesn’t allow her to leave the perimeter…like is she a fuckn slave or..? he literally won’t even let her dance anymore she’s to sit in a large home doing nothing. she can’t have any technology.
no shade but was this written by a white woman?? like tf.
the mc is a horrible human and so is every other character who kisses his ass.
and he’s really fucking corny might i add
i hate this damn book sm.
a fade needs to be caught. IMMEDIATELY
like he doesn’t even want her contacting him unless it’s an emergency…he “loves her” though. nothing about this book is romantically. and the way he talks to her…baby he hates that girl. he treats her worse than his shitty father. yeah overall horrible book and mind u all the stuff i js said was barely the beginning of the book. she should have js khs ALL shade

This story deeply resembles beauty and the beast. Nevaeh was uprooted and stolen from her life by a mafia capo. He purchased her. He took something or in this case someone that wasn’t his to have. However Nevi’s life was never her own. She has always been ruled under the thumb of someone else. She doesn’t truly know what freedom is. I’m afraid she never will. She’s is easily controlled and has no free rein over her own life. Her story is truly sad.

Caelian is truly obsessed and deranged over Nevaeh. It’s sickening! He is every bit of the monster described in Disney villain stories/fairy tales. There were certain things in the book that he did SEVERAL TIMES, that I personally can never forgive or accept. He took it too far on multiple occasions. He has a heart condition that makes you feel sorry for him a bit. But you know how people who know they are going to die live life easily, happily and more careful. YEA NOT THIS MAN. He is deranged! But you must admit he does not give up. And he loved Nevi in his own deranged, sick, perverted way!

Book 2…? Mhmmm… I don’t know.

If dark romances are not you thing, this book is not for you. Sienne Vega definitely brings the dark themes in this one. Caelian and Nevaeh's story begins slowly, but picks up steam at the right moment. Another reviewer referenced Beauty and the Beast when describing this story, and they are completely right. But it's the adult version with trauma, abuse, betrayal, secrets, obsession, and other dark themes. But there's also love, loyalty, trust, honesty, and much more. Caelian and Nevaeh appear to be complete opposites, light and dark, but have more in common than they realize. Their personalities really compliment each as time goes on. I love the way the plot is written. It grabs me from the beginning to the end. There are moments that took my breath away that I wasn't prepared for, which made the story that much better. I can't wait to see how the next book in the duet unfolds. Such a great read!!

𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀, 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 + 𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗴𝘀 🚩

Caelian has finally found his salvation, his ballerina, and now he’ll never let her go. If she runs he’ll chase her, if she hides he’ll find her and if Nevaeh thinks refusing to accept her new reality will deter him she couldn’t be more wrong.

At first I felt like I’d been dropped in the middle of something, unsure of the ins & outs of the story but needing to know more. Then as the pieces were coming together, the more I understood and my own obsession started blooming.

He’s brutal, edging a fine line kind of brutal, I was so close to backing out, but I couldn’t fight the urge to know all the things I was in the dark about. In the end, this book reminded me why I love dark romance, it’s savage but has the type of love that’s unbreakable 🖤

Hmmm...ok Ms. Sienna

Meh. Beloved, I write to you as a lover of stories. And I am with you on this journey until I wasn't. The beginning was interesting and creative. I enjoyed your homage to a fairytale, funny in some ways and likable. But then as the story progressed, I just didn't get it. There was not enough character development in your MCs. I don't see what all the angst is about. There's too many holes my love. I think if you were to go back and read it objectively, you would know I'm telling the truth. The only reason there should be a part 2 is to continue a story arc that MUST be told but honestly by the last couple of chapters, I wasn't invested anymore and wasn't even interested in the power dynamics happening. I like Neveah and Cael. Alot actually. I just wanted more depth.

Solid

I'd rate this like a 3.75, I absolutely did not like the MMC at first and not in the he's an alphahole way, but in a he's a he-man Neanderthal way. He just seemed so out of touch with socializing or romance or dealing with women in any kind of way at first, which was a major turn-off. However, once he finally realizes he should treat the ballerina he's been obsessed over as a person, not a doll, it's like a switch flipped in him, and he became much more tolerable. All in all, the book was entertaining enough. There have been a lot of books I've started recently that I DNF, and I actually finished this, so the entertainment value is there. Also, I will be picking up the 2nd book as I am curious as to how the rest of this plays out.

Wow! I already knew that I would love this book because it was written by Sienne Vega. At first I thought it started out slow. It was me being impatient, not the book. As the story continues I realized that you can’t rush the build up, because the story just kept getting better and better. My family almost didn’t have Thanksgiving dessert because I couldn’t stop reading this book. Caelian is brute and doesn’t care about anyone else’s opinion, but his own. He wants the beautiful ballerina Navaeh and won’t rest until she is. Ugh, I have to wait “patiently” for book 2. I definitely recommend this book.

Its Good!

Well! This has been one rollercoaster of a ride, right from the beginning. The writer brings all the fury from the very start and rolls like a ball of thunder till the cliffhanger. I have been on the fence on whether I like this story or if I even understand this couple. The chemistry is there for you see and feel and it leaps from the pages. The dialogue and character development is on point. But I do have to say,I have been on the fence about both main characters, there are a few times they both come off as annoying, but you later not only like them but you understand. Take a chance on a romance that's going to tie you in knots!

I must admit that Caelian at first was a bit off-putting to me but like Neveah I soon came to warm up to him and cannot wait for him to take his revenge on those who have wronged him.
Filled with action, heat and intrigue this was an excellent read with twists and turns that I did not see coming. Neveah, the ballerina in question was feisty, smart and loyal to a fault. This book ends on a cliff-hanger and I’m looking forward to reading more about these two as their journey continues.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was an awful letdown. I adore this author, but detested the book. The plot was lacking and there was no chemistry between the characters. Both main characters were extremely unlikeable. The character’ s personalities were not suitable for each other as a couple, nor was the story or pairing believable, which made it a difficult read. The forced and awkward sexual encounters, the fact the they didn’t really know or like each other, the convoluted mafia storyline, the kidnapped ballerina, the mysterious illness… nope!

he is actually f$kin stupid, this dumb girl is already scared with him, since she doesn’t know him at all bc he bought her, and he still f her. he’s a rapist, the first and second time they do it.

ms. poitier wtv the name is (his like maid) carried this relationship, teaching him how to actually respect his gurl 😌👏👏😑, yikes

eventually he gives the “the sex she deserves” later on, i think the 3rd time they do it. this books also have a cliffhanger sooo read as advise

Love a good slow burn

We LOVE it here!

Things really tie together towards the end! Although the fall from the cliff towards the end is rather soft, I feel safe in landing with Caelian in the next book and look forward to seeing how the tale will continue to unfold.
His Ballerina is NO damsel! Absolutely loved the twists and turns this book led me through! Stick with it and you're in for a pleasant experience.
