I finally gave up and put this one back on the shelf mostly read. I had hoped that the workbook format would help me apply what I’ve learned from her other books, but it was too much microanalysis for me.
This book takes the concepts introduced in Bowman's other books and podcast and combines them with a workbook format for analyzing and creating your own "Perfect movement Plan". It sounds great in theory but I didn't have the patience to go through it and analyze all of my movement and create a plan. It was just far too detailed.
However, I love Katy Bowman's other books, especially Grow Wild, Move your DNA and Movement Matters.
I think knowing the concepts of varied natural movement and getting different moving nutrients is good enough for me but this detailed and analytical approach might be better suited to others.
This workbook lot of effort and a lot of being honest with myself about my own exercise and movement and it was worth it. I was surprised at how much I can still improve on. The "movement nutrition pyramid" is a really clear way to figure out how I need to change my movement diet. My first movement plan is up on the fridge now and has been keeping me on track.
